I visited these apartments with a couple of mates a wee girlie winter warmer in Jan! Perfect time to go away to catch some sun!
They were clean, lovely view, snack bar, Restaurant, entertainment at night & pool was massive! Quite far up the hotel so u end up staying in the hotel during the day.
There isn’t much around the hotel so you would need to go into the centre which is fine.
I really thought they were lovely apartments & would go back.

This is our second visit at Guanabara Park, we had great time!
Lovely clean apartment’s, maids came every other day.
Paul was great he did brilliant shows at night! Also a great laugh.
Puerto Rico is lovely place, with excellent views and if you love steak try their big t" bone in the Steak House on the way down to the centre.

We weren’t expecting much from Guanabara Park as we had booked it as a last minute cheap deal however, I was pleasantly surprised!
On arrival at 2am we were welcomed with a free bottle of wine, sweets & fresh flowers in our room...we slept until the sun woke us the next day.
When we pulled back the curtains the view was breathtaking! Absolutely out of this world!
The apartments were clean & kept clean with a daily maid service throughout our stay. We didn’t see any insects in our apartment either which I think is always a huge plus in the Canaries.
The pool area was always kept clean, the only fault being the freezing cold pool, but then you shouldn’t expect a warm one that time of year I suppose!
The staff were helpful & entertainment if you did choose to stay in the complex of an evening was simple but fun for all the family.
Overall I had a wicked holiday - the weather was hot, the apartments were clean - I can’t believe what a bargain we got! I would definitely visit again!

Not long returned from Guanabara Park, found it to be very nice, rooms very basic but that shows in the price. Pool area nice and the entertainment was good if you are prepared to join in. The staff were all very nice and friendly.
We usually hire a car but found no need to as we walked down every morning and got a cab back, as it is at the top of the hill the views were lovely we went on a ferry every day almost to different parts of the island which we loved.
We will definitely be going back.

We visited the place for 2 weeks at the beginning of December.
It was OK. Considering how cheap it was for 2 weeks, it could have been a lot worse.
I would not go back as it wasn't really my thing, but if you don't mind big attention seeking families and cockroaches running at your bed in the middle of the night, then definitely go.
Thought the pool was nice and the views were lovely. Our rep was brilliant but we didn't really join in the quiz night etc. Preferred to go out of a night. Didn't mind walking up the hill as kept off the pounds although, it was quite a challenge.
Beware of timeshare sellers, and holiday members club sellers. They really hassle you as you walk past. We found best thing was to pretend they weren't there. Don't be fooled by them.
Out of all the places I've visited in the Canaries this was probably the most tacky resort and pretty chaved up but we did manage to find some nicer spots to go of a day.
You must do the Jeep safari. It's excellent.

Hotel could do with a spruce up - staff could do with a smile and a bit of training.
Had to wait half an hour or more to get travellers cheques changed. At ten nobody in reception. Generally the local people in the resort were not the friendliest - actually quite surly.
Found the odd restaurant that we liked and stuck to it. Wouldn't go back.

I and my family have just returned from these apartments. We had an absolute fabulous time. The apartments are very clean and the staff made us feel very welcome.
On arrival we were told where are rooms were and received a bottle of red and white wine as well as water. On the first evening we decided to have a drink up in the pool bar as we had been travelling all day and didn’t want to venture out to far as we had a child with us. The night was superb there was a great crowd joining in quizzes and a game 'drink or nominate' which was organised by Russ, he was a great laugh!!
A couple of nights of our holiday we went to an Irish bar call shamrocks in the centre (but be warned don’t go if you get easily embarrassed and don’t like swearing)
As our apts were at the top of the hill we used to walk down to centre and then get a taxi back up this wasn’t a problem as the taxis are very cheap and there are taxi ranks everywhere!
If I had to recommend one restaurant I’d have to say san Miguel’s in the centre its very cheap the food was the best I tasted all holiday and the waiters are very welcoming and you even get a shot on the way out.
Overall I would highly recommend Puerto Rico to anyone even though it is very hilly the taxis are that cheap anyone could enjoy this great place!

My daughter (aged 10) and I had a great holiday in May 2006. On arrival, at 11pm I was a bit worried by the unhelpfulness of the check in chappy. Was left wandering the street with our cases looking for our room.
Rooms are basic, but very clean. Water and wine greeted us which was very nice!
As a single parent holiday I was dubious regarding safety but this wasn't an issue. We felt safe and secure and well looked after by the staff.
Russ, (the entertainer) was particularly impressive and made the holiday a success for my daughter and I. We had a 12 night stay and had a great time. I would go back again, as would my daughter.

I can highly recommend the Guanabara Park apartments,
my wife & i were delighted by the complimentary wine & water (but no fishes!!) that were provided. If you know Puerto Rico you know it's going to be hilly, so be prepared for a lot of steps.
On the plus side, the apartments are clean, well-maintained & quiet. The only down side is the location, up & the top of the hill, but hey, why not hire a car, or use a taxi!. But I wouldn’t recommend to people with very young children due to location.

Visited gaunabara Park for 2 weeks with my boyfriend 28 and myself 20. Arrived at 5 in the morning, security guard checked us in he was very miserable didn’t show us the way to are room, no help with carrying the suitcases as we had to go down a lot of stairs.
Arrived in are room and we were very surprised with having a free bottle of water waiting for us. View absolutely lovely, hotel room kept very clean by the cleaners, clean towels every other day room cleaned every day, even done are dishes. Swimming pool area lovely also kept very clean. We didn’t use the on site supermarket as there was a netto just at the bottom of the hill, very cheap. Also you if you need a taxi just ask reception to order you one, costs about 2-3euros to the commercial centre, but make sure you check your change as the taxi drivers like to take there own tips. In reception you can get a card for The World Famous Linerkers Bar and if you show the taxi driver this card he will give you a receipt and you just hand it into the Linerkers Bar and they will deduct the price you paid for your taxi of your first order of drinks, worth doing! Watch out for the gang of men who are playing a game with 3 half potatoes and a pea, what they do is work together and you’ve got to guess what pea the potatoes is under, when you don’t bet money on it you win, but then there telling you to put 50euros its a big con, don’t fall for it, we ended up loosing 100euros which is £69, weren’t impressed. We also met people and the same thing happened to them.
Puerto Rico is Lovely place to stay. Beach beautiful, have to pay for beds, which cost E2.50. Commercial Centre very good, food lovely. Watch out for the lucky lucky men, try to get you to buy their jewellery, you can have a laugh with them.
We visited Mogan Market, weren’t impressed with what they sold most of it was the same on every store, that was a boat ride 9euros return which wasn’t to bad, we were glad we went because we got to see the dolphins on are way home they were beautiful. I don’t think I could fault Guanabara Park or Puerto Rico as we had an excellent holiday and would go back to the same apartment in a view years time after trying some were else. hope you enjoy your stay at guanabara and hope this report has been useful to you!

On arrival we were delighted to find a lovely bottle of red wine, sweets, washing-up kit, tissues, etc as a welcome gift in our apartment. This was surprising as you don’t normally get these little extras in self catering accommodation without you having to pay extra for them. Apartment was very clean and fresh on our arrival and was kept clean by domestic staff daily throughout the week (except Sundays, as this is their day off) and fresh bathroom linen was supplied regularly. Decoration in apartment was very tasteful, plenty storage, large balcony overlooking the very scenic marina with table and chairs supplied.
Facilities at Guanabara Park were very good, pool bar, lovely clean swimming pool, pool area with sun beds and cushions for hire (80 cents per day), drinks & bar food good and reasonably priced, small shop which is obviously a bit more expensive than bigger supermarkets, but was very handy for the odd loaf etc. Staff friendly and very helpful. We had noisy neighbours for the first 2 nights, after speaking to the Thomas Cook Rep he did not do much about it, so after a 2nd night we asked the receptionist at Guanabara to do something about it. She explained that they have a policy that between 11pm and 8am holiday makers are expected to consider others and try not to make too much noise. She therefore did not hesitate on moving this noisy family elsewhere that morning, which was a great relief to us.
The location of this accommodation is in the quieter area above the marina, not in the noisy town centre, but it is only a 15 minute walk or a short taxi ride into town if you want a livelier place to spend some time. The apartments are at the top of quite a steep hill, but the view is well worth the effort! (Or you can be lazy and take a taxi!! as these are very cheap and plenty available) Spectacular view especially when the sun goes down in the evening, and also lovely to sit on the balcony and watch all the boats going in and out of the marina throughout the day.
We tried several local bars and restaurants and found some to be much better than others. The El Cenador restaurant was a disappointment this time, as we had found it to be very good on previous holidays here, but we found this time that the food was not very good and service was a bit rushed. The Millennium restaurant is small but serves very tasty food and has friendly staff and gives a good service. The larger of the two Steak Houses was not very good. Food was average and service wasn’t great either, so would not recommend this one. Our favourite restaurant was definitely La Cascada Golf. The food was exceptionally tasty and beautifully presented on all occasions when we ate there. We would highly recommend the Mixed Meat Kebabs and then the fresh strawberries, ice cream and whipped cream deserts with sparklers on the top!!! Yummy!! The staff were always very polite, chatty, and helpful and nothing was a problem to them. We would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!!
Generally prices at restaurants in the town centre were much higher than at the bars and restaurants in the local shopping area just down from the Guanabara Park Apartments and we found the quality of the food and service to be poor in the centre too.
We hired a car for the entire time we were on holiday, but this is not entirely necessary as taxis are cheap and buses are available too, but it is handy to have the car to see things a bit further away. We would recommend a visit to the Pearl Factory(Perla Canaria) in Maspalomas. It’s well worth a visit. Prices varied so there is something there for all sizes of pockets to afford, but also nice just to look! You can pay 21 euros to pick an oyster and see if you win a pearl.... I won a beautiful Gree Pearl that was valued at 78 euros and then got it mounted on a lovely gold ring too. It is stunning!!!
I think that’s about all I can tell everyone about.

I think that the apartments were very comfortable and the view was amazing. The facilities that were available were very good but the pool floor could be cleaned more regular.
I didn't really see the staff as I was only there on the evening and was out all day, I think that the Linen could have been changed mid-week but overall they were great.
The evening entertainment was great even though it was a bit cheesy, Jules Mason is a great singer, I even had my picture taken with her, it’s a shame I couldn't get her email address.
I think that I shall visit again in the future but I would also like to visit some of the other islands first. Thank you for giving us a great time while we were in Gran Canaria.
