Me and my partner wen Puerto Rico On 21st Feb, best holiday ever, the apartments were lovely, just everything you need. The maids were very helpful and left flyers in our room, giving us information what was going on at the Guanabara Park that night, i.e entertainment. The food was amazing, the BBQ on a sunday night was out this world, just 10E per person. The apartments are quite a walk from the shopping centres and is'nt made out like it is in the brocher, but other then that it is really loverly. Our rep Lianne Duff was brilliant and helps you find out alot of information about activitys. The entertainer, Paul was brilliant, catering for every indervidual.
I would strongly reccoment the Guanabara Park Apartments for somebody to stay.
I myslef will defenetly be returning.
- Advice: Its Brilliant.
- Activities: The most amazing restaraunt in Puerto Rico is Las Brava, in Puerto Rico shopping centre.

Just returned from Guanabara Park yesterday, had a fantastic time, yes the rooms are basic but what are you expecting for the money you paid. your room is your base and your bed at the end of the day. The pool area etc was excellent the food was good the staff very accommodating the entertainments were good Paul Santangelo remembered everyones name and made you feel welcome. yes the 10 minute walk does not exist more like 25 to the beach but its only 3.00euros for the ride back as you dont want to do the walk sober let alone drunk.

Hi there i have been to the guanabara park appts 3 times and i have to say it has always been brilliant. the receptionest Angela is great and has became good friends with me and my husband, the room has always been spotless and maids are very nice and come in everyday to change towels and make beds.
The only bad thing i can say bout guanabara park is the entertainment manager Paul Santangelo who i find can be rude when you dont want to come to any of his shows which i mite add has been the same since i started coming 3 years ago.
I would reccomend for entertainment reasons to go to the Europa Centre which is only a taxi ride away and only costs 3-4 euros and go to the Barbacoa club which has great entertainment every night and you will love it it has everything from comics, singers, drag acts which i might add is fabulous, so go along and you will not be dissapointed.
Eating out i would reccomend to go to the commercial centre and a place called San Miguels there food is fantastic and very cheap for 4 of us it only cost 40euros and very worth it.
Overall i would reccomend the Guanbara Park Appts to anyone and Puerto Rico is just FANTASTIC.....

I know these reviews are everyone's different opinion. Which makes them all the more intresting as if your like me you try and work out the type of person who has written the review and if they would be satisfied wherever they stayed.
However I personally wouldn't recommend these appartments. They were very very basic indeed. Our appmt was full of ants which put us off from day one. When we inf'd the staff they wern't that intrested. They inf'd us that they would look into it however they couldn't move us as they said they were full (which i doubted). Although there were people above us and at either side as you could here every movement. Which aint much fun when some of them only returned at 3.30 in the morning.
It is described by locals as being a flea pit. Which i would have to agree.
Although the maid came in every other day very little cleaning was done, the bedding wasn't changed apparently they only do this once every eight days!!!
The location is up a steep hill and well off the beaten track from anywhere.
Bar staff were rude and unhelpful. Enjoy your hols if your staying here but seriously dont expect too much from your accomodation.

i totally enjoyed these apartments, plenty of sun beds and you did not have to move because you had the the sun from every direction.pool bar food was ok. entertainment well went down town for that. 25 minute walk to the bright lights but only 2-3 euros back. didn,t attempt to walk it.not after 10 tropicals in tiffanys at 1 euro 50 a pint.all in all would definately go back there.not for the disabled or people struggling on sticks etc .i,m 46 and loved it with a 11 yr old . great

just got back from a week long stay at guanabara park, had no problems with the hotel itself but the '10 min' walk to the beach doesnt exist its a good 30mins and another 10 to the commercial centre. my partner tried walking back up ONCE,never again lol. it also rained for 2 days while we were there and was overcast for 1 so we turned to the pubs. try maggie mae's in the commercial centre, great wee pub and juan behind the bar was a riot.guanabara was well cleaned-most days infact ,wouldnt go there again, only due to the remote location, tho the views of the harbour and sea were amazing

Just back from two weeks at the Guanabara - feel for the lady who gave these apartments a 1 out of 10 becuase we didnt see anything like that when we were there. Myself and my partner felt that the rooms were great value for money. The one bedroom apartment with a large terrace/balcony was cleaned every day - floors swept and mopped, towels changed every second day, beds made every day and changed weekly. We did see cockroaches but its a hot country and you get plenty of them. Only saw a couple in our room. Decor basic but is this really important anyway?
Pool area very clean, plenty sun loungers, great apts for couples as not too many kids. The hotel is in a great, elevated location with fantastic views over the harbour and great sunsets at night. People have complained about the stairs and walk up the hill but you're on a volcanic island - hills to be expected but obviously not a good hotel for anyone with mobility difficulties. would advise walking down in to town when you need to (10 mins to main beach, 15 mins to commercial centre) and getting a 3 euro cab back up the hill.
Entertainment brilliant. Paul Santangelo brilliant - remembers everyone's names and goes out of his way to make everyone feel welcome!! Pool bar wee bit expensive but nothing on some bars in the centre.
The only thing I would comment on is the fact that the supermarket at the Hotel is very expensive. Dont go to that or to any of the Netto chain or to the Spar. Go to the HiperDino supermarket in the main commercial centre. Its a local chain with local prices. Netto will rip off tourists as we didnt discover til far too late in our stay.
We will definately be back at the Guanabara!!!

Just got back from a week long stay at Guanabara and on the whole it was a positive experiance. The twin room allocated to my partner and I was very basic, but perfectly acceptable. The maid came every day, bringing fresh towels on a daily basis and making/changing beds regulary. She even did our washing up!! The Apartment also had a sizeable balcony offering good views of the harbour and out to sea. The pool bar was very comfortable, With more than enough sunbeds avaliable, Tables and chairs to sit round and a reasonabaly sized pool. The pool bar was also an excellent oppurtunity to socialise and meet new people. My partner and I enjoyed Guanabara as it very much seemed a couples resort. However, I would not recomend Guanabara to a family as the complex is a good 20 minute walk into the main centre of the town( All downhill mind, The walk back up is the tough bit. We opted for a taxi return which cost no more than 3/4 euros) My Girlfreind also commented there was nothing really for children to do around the resort except swim in the pool. However, as a couple it suited us perfectly. We found some really nice restaurants in the town, But a couple of ropey ones as well. Take your time when selecting a restuarant, as waiters/promotion types/owners will try and prize you into their establishment with offers. The Main centre of Puerto Rico was very nice, if a little too commercilised. We took a trip to Mogan, just 10 minutes along the coast, which was a tad more traditional . There was also a very large market on the day we visited (Friday).
My Only real Gripe about Guanabara-
The daytime food menu was very poor, and put us off eating in the hotel at any time. On the first day i ordered a cheeseburger and chips and it was frankly unacceptable, What seemed like an undercooked "Beef" Burger, some processed cheese stuck between a couple of slabs of bun. The portion sizes also did not represent good value for money. A cheese and ham toastie barely the size of a palm would set you back 5 euro. I did suggest this to the entertainment manager and he said he would mention it to whoever is in charge.
The entertainment at the complex was ok. Paul, the entertainments manager did all of the entertainment himself throughout the week, and some of his shows seemed, shall we say, a touch out-dated. Typical Butlins type entertainment. Cheesy Music, Caberet and Elvis impersonations are Paul's speciality. Once under the influence of a couple of bevvies however, it is easy enough to enjoy and get involved. Paul, Whilst being a nice guy, seemed to take it personally if you said you wern't going to attend one of his shows.
We enjoyed our stay in Gunabara, and would consider going back to Puerto Rico. The weather was beautiful,The actvities were good and the staff were polite and informative. Overall, A good break.

I couldn't disagree with the previous entrant more.I have just come back from 2 weeks holiday with my husband and 2 children and we have had the time of our lives. When we arrived, about 5 in the morning, the receptionist was polite and welcomed us,before giving us our keys. The apartment was spotless, and identicle to the one featured in the sunset holidays brochure april-oct 09.The maid came in everyday apart from sundays and changed the bedding every other day.The complex was probably one of the safest we have ever stayed at and we had no qualms about letting our children who are 12 and 8 go to meet up with the friends they had made,or go up to the pool area as the whole complex was very family orientated. The pool was pretty big with a childrens section and a deeper section for older kids and adults, and was clean. The staff serving at the bar and restaurant were very friendly, and when we didn't feel like walking into Puerto Rico, the restaurant food was fine, and with one very fussy eater, that is saying something. The entertainment was brilliant too, from birds of prey shows, reptile shows, and the one and only Paul Santangelo, brilllllliant!!!!!!he had us all in stitches. As I have said,we have had such a good holiday we are hoping to go back just after Christmas, and the children have asked if we can go back next year, that's a first from them.We can't wait to go back.

hi, i've just read over the other reviews and felt that i needed to voice my opinion. My partner and i arrived at around half 3 in the morning to a grumpy receptionist who pointed us in the direction of our room which was down three flights of stairs in the pitch dark. The room itself was basic weren't expecting much as it was a last minute deal but there were alot of bugs especially in the bed. I know it is a tropical climate but we saw lots of cockroaches which i hated. There were dead ones that were decaying... so much for the cleaning. At the end of the day we only used the room as base. The plus side was the balacony which had amazing views over the bay and were massive. Be warned there are lots of pigeons in the area!!!
It is quite a walk away from the town but first thing in the morning it is a lovely walk. On your way down you pass a little shopping centre with a netto and quite a few bars and restaurants. I would highly recommend torres. Service is amazing and the food is out of this world and very reasonably priced. We went that often that when we left they gave us a free local liquor to remember them by!!!!! Also there is a good cafe straight below torres that does a breakfast for 2 euro 50 which helps hangovers!!! The main shopping centre is very touristy be prepared to be harrased by pr staff and people selling fake sunglasses and watches!!!! Shopping is good though and there are great bars inside!
The harbour area is lovely and clean and plenty of watersports or boat excursions!
overall i would go back to puerto rico but guanabara park i think not!!!!
