More Traveller Reviews of Fuengirola Beach Apartments
Brilliant Holiday!!
from Blacklilycards
Just got back from a 5 day short break to Fuengirola. I do not normally like Spain that much but was pleasantly surprised. Me and my friend had actually booked to go to Marbella to stay at Caledonia Golf Aparthotel. It was a 4* but was in the middle of no where and the trip advisor reviews were not very good so we changed it to this one. It was a good choice!! Our hotel was very clean and spacious and we had a very spacious apartment for 4 people even though there was only two of us. We had gorgeous views of the castle and beach from our balcony and the apartment was very clean. The hotel also had a really nice swimming pool with gorgeous views. We never ate at the hotel so was not sure what the food was like. One thing that was really good (for all you shopaholics out there) was that as soon as you came out of the hotel you were pretty much on the doorstep of the Miramar Parque shopping mall which was huge. There was a cinema in there as well and it stayed open till 10pm. We were really worried about the weather but everyday was very warm - enough to get a tan and on our last day we got sunburnt. Me and my friend were in our early 20's so we wanted a bit of nightlife as well. Even though it was off season there were still plenty of places open. We went to a club called Tramps which was very small but very good and also went to Mai Tai which was great but did not get busy until 4. We did not have to pay to get in as well which was good but drinks were expensive. Food was really good especially the paella!! To sum it all up it was a great holiday, very relaxing, nightlife if you want it and loads of shopping. The weather is beyond what I was expecting and Fuengiorla was a lovely place to stay. I really miss being there. The one thing that I wont miss was that because it was off season there were not a lot of young people around so me and my friend were a bit of a target for the Spanish men who hissed at you wherever you went (their equivalent of wolf whistling) - it got pretty annoying at times!! Anyway - definately reccomend going here - you will have an amazing time! Just stay away from the shopping mall if you are on a budget!!
Nice place...shame about the location

We have just returned from a weeks stay at these apartments. Got a very cheap deal from the travel agent, so we weren't expecting too much. However, we were very pleasantly surprised to find a very clean, nicely furnished apartment with a reasonably well equipped kitchen area. If you are truly self catering, everything is provided including kettle, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, pots, pans, cutlery etc. and the usual two ring electric hob with an extractor hood. The lounge area was comfortable with a small T.V. the remote is available from reception for a 10 euro returnable deposit. The two main twin beds we found to be very comfortable, with the other three single beds doubling as seating, so they were of the foam rubber type and possibly less comfortable. Overall, we were more than satisfied with our accommodation, The hotel bar is not the cheapest, and is functional rather than comfortable. The entertainment varies greatly in standard from quite good to downright painful, but I guess that's a matter of opinion. It tends to be a bit Hi Di Hi at times and a bit in your face. i.e. you ARE on holiday and you WILL join in and enjoy yourself. There is a Happy Hour between 5 and 6 where you get double the drinks you order. Cannot comment on the restaurant food personally as we only had a few snacks from the bar, but we did not hear any rave reviews from the other guests. Most of the other points have been covered in previous reviews, so I won't dwell on them, but I do feel the main concern here is the location. It is basically a bit like staying on a roundabout in the middle of the M25 roughly a 20 minute walk from the beginning of the resort, and it is a VERY big resort, the second largest city on the Costas. Regardless of other reviews, we did not find the walk pleasant, because every step of the way you are accosted by scratch card touts who will not leave you alone. They are a nightmare, and this was February, God knows what it must be like in the summer. The resort itself in my opinion is the pits. Obviously it is to some people's taste, but not mine. Mile after mile of chips, burgers, pizzas, 'english bars', fish and chip shops, kebabs and tacky gift shops. All that was missing were 'Kiss Me Quick' hats and candy floss. It is nothing but a mass of high rise hotels and building work in progress. If you do sit down for a meal or a drink, armies of guys of African origin will approach you to buy fake 'designer' sunglasses, belts and bootlegged dvd's or cd's. Open one up and see what's inside!! By night we felt a little intimidated and slightly uncomfortable. On the plus side, there is an enormous beach, and the weather was amazing for the time of year. In conclusion, if you want to have a hotel based break, this is as good as any for the price. As for Fuengirola, it gets the 'Fingerola' from me.
Great Winter Break
from RorysRavers
Excellent value for money our family of 3 generations found something for everyone. Buffet style breakfast and evening meals meant there was no arguing about what to eat....we all ate what we wanted!!! Next door to the Miramar shopping centre and the town of Fuengirola and also overlooking the castle it combined old and new. The views from the castle were fantastic. We hired a car for the week and visited Ronda, Granada and Gibraltar (where hubby was bitten by an over enthusiastic ape and was informed by the doctor at the hospital where he had a tetanus jab that as the apes are fed by so many of the visitors they now expect to be fed by all!!!). All in all it was a great holiday and one we would love to do again.....except the bite!!!
nice winter break

Rooms The rooms were spacious for four adults, they were well kept nicely decorated and suited our requirements. The only downside was the lack of electric plugs only 3 in the entire apartment 2 in the centre of the kitchen and one for the TV. Location The hotel was out of the way a little and was about ten mins walk from the beach and restaurants and about two mins from the big shopping centre across the road. Was close to the local bus routes, close to a taxi rank, about 5mins from the Tuesday market and Saturday car boot by taxi. The views from the hotel were magnificent from our room we could see the castle the beach and the mountains what more could you ask for, although we were lucky you can be sure to get at least one of these views. Service All the members of staff we talked to were friendly and helpful, we were self catering but we did have one evening meal at the hotel which was good value for money and well catered. Value This holiday was very good value for money and despite being the cheapest hotel with the tour operator was worth every penny, Cleanliness Everything was clean the maid service comes by the rooms twice a week to change the linen, the hotel grounds were very clean and tidy Pool this was the one thing that let the holiday down, the pool was not heated and was freezing, they do provide a lifeguard but no one stays in for more than a couple of secs we had a lovely winter break and wished we could have had a bit longer.
great ++++

we decided to stay at this hotel as was cheap and looked nice, read quite a few reviews and after booking wasnt sure we had made the right choice as alot of people had said it wasnt great, we arrived and hopped on out transfer coach, we was the last stop off, went into the hotel and got out room key straight away. reception was helpfull and clean with lots of inforamtion on things to do and places to go, we got to our room and was very impressed, we asked for pool view large balcony and thats wot we got, we had a view of the sea, castle mountains and the pool it was lovely, and the room was masive, it was just for me and my boyfriend there was a main bedroom which was a nice size, bathroom, kitchin/ living room with table which was very big with two sofas with another bed as you come in the door ment for a child, the kitchin was no good though, no way you can cook in it, really small and a right pain, please stay away from the toaster very dangous i burn my arm very badly on it as no gaurd around the elements like we have here, i recommend just eating out.. we eat out nealy all the time, theres the pool bar that does food and just out side the hotel the is a massive shopping mall with everything in, cinema, masive food shop 3x bigger then our big asdas, loads of colthes shoes and a big food court up top even has burger king. the hotel was lovely loads of room plenty of room around the pool and in the bar, we never eat in the resurant so cant comment on that but we stayed in a few nights for the entertainment and was very good, recommend the comdy nite, very funny, and the adult bar opens until 3 every night, its a bit small in there but nice as well. what is a pain is having to go out into reception and down stairs just to go to the toliet which is very inoying when your drinking alot. we went down to the beach alot and eat down there which was nice apart from all the looky looky men there are loads of them and they bug u every two mins to buy things which can get very anoying when u are having your dinner. beach very nice, water can get very choppy though not great for little kids. and beach goes on and on for eva its massive, u really need to pack some Comfortable shoes as there is alot of walking to do, the hotel is in a nice spot but quite far out and have to go under a bridge to get to the beach which is not very nice at night but not too bad. there are tonns of things to do in this resort we went for a week and we didnt get to do all that we wanted to do as run outa time. its easy to get around by bus and train and very cheap but make sure you check last time they run back as we nearly go stranded a few time by missing them because we didnt check. recommend trip to gibrata and the dophin trip they do there, its a really nice day out. the croc park is also good and if you dont mind heights get the cable cart to the top of the mountain in the next town from the theme park tivoli world, the views are amazing you wont want to go back down. over all i 100% recommend this hotel i had a fantastic time be pepared thou for lots of walking and 100% recommend the resort for all ages we 21/22 and was great, theres something for everyone and lots and lots to do. enjoy.
Perfect Winter Break

Stayed in F.B.H. for 1 week and would love to go back. Rooms were clean, adequately spacious for our needs. Staff friendly and happy to help always with a smile. Entertainment mostly by reps but was enjoyable and a good laugh (myself being hauled upsatge on first night was a great ice breake for meeting people however embarrassd I was at time lol). Two ways to get to beach giong left outside hotel takes you the quite beach walk along to promenade or there is the other way which is busy by the road and quite a few crossings. Do venture into the lanes behind main promenade shops as there is a delight of restaurants and little shops giving excellent value for money. The only thing would change about this hotel is where the toilets are situated in reception, they are downstairs near the kids/teenage area and that area isnt surpervised. Although we had no kids with us we did feel this would be a worry if we had brought them. Would like to reiterate that we would/will be giong back =)

We stayed in the fuengirola beach for a week and i thought it was in an excellant location. It was a 5 minute walk from a lovely beach. There was a quiet part of the beach just beside the bridge that there werent many people on at the time we stayed. There were lots of lovely restaurants along the beach front. The food was really nice. We didnt go out at night so we wouldnt be able to comment on the nightlife. The hotel itself was really nice although i did have a problem that the towels and sheets were only changed twice in the space of the week. The maids only came every 3rd day. We had lunch at the pool bar once and it was terrible. It was just reheated food so i we didnt go there again. We went to the carvery night on thursday in the restaurant and it was lovely, they should do that more often. The evening entertainment was excellent. they had different shows on every night, there is also a mini disco in the hotel that ends at 3, it was ok for a late drink. The entertainment reps were brilliant with the kids. The reps are there all day so if you have kids its great, we dont. The pool was big enough. There is a fantastic shopping mall beside the apartments where you can get food upstairs and has great shops for all ages. If you are into site seeing id recommend hiring out a car, we did. We went to Gibraltar, it was just an hour and 15 minutes drive away. But bring your passports as you are entering another country.
Lovely Hotel

i travelled to this hotel and stayed for 2 weeks along with my partner and 5 year old son. I did'nt take too long, about 40 mins to get to the hotel from the airport by coach, but if you travel by taxi, this time will be cut in half. The hotel was lovely. Nice spacious rooms compared to the rooms we have had before at other hotels. The pool was clean and a good size and very safe, along with the childrens pool. We didnt eat at the hotel as we nwere self catering, although you can pay as you go if you like and eat there. We only ate once and that was the sunday carvery, and we didnt rate it at all. The staff at the hotel were fantastic. When we entered our room we noticed that the door on the wardrobe didn't open properly, so I called down to reception and within a couple of minutes, it was sorted out. Very pleased. We didn't have an excellent view as a hotel was being built directly infront of our room, but the noise wasn't too bad, although we did have the sea view and the castle view. People keep saying that it is milesd away to the beach. Well there's Bikini Beach about 5 mins walk from the hotel using an underpath, although you probably won't want to sunbath or go in the sea here as it stinks (the sea connects with the canal here). Walk along the beach for about 5 - 10 mins and you will get to the proper beach. The sea was extremely rough when we went and so our son couldn't really go in it, which is why we spent most dys by the pool. We went to Fuengirola Zoo which was really good, just down from Burger King. We also went to the water park, although it was a pain to if you're walking it! Get a taxi, it's only about £4. We also went on the dolphin trip and saw lots of dolphins, even if my son spent the whole 2 hours throwing up in the toilet - didn't realside he was sea sick, oops. The entertainement at the hotel needs updating as it doesn't seem to have changed for a few years. We didn't stay on a night for the entertainement but it gives you a list of whats on eg a parot show, karaoke, bingo etc. We went out most nights but I have to say I was very dissapointed with the nightlife in Fuengirola - like there was none. No shows or anything anywhere for the whole 2 weeks. We just sat in pubs and went back to the hotel. Very dissapointing. There is a good shopping centre right next to the hotel called Mirramar and it has a huge supermarket, like ASDA inside it. A TIP- If the kids get bored, there's a roof top play area on top of the shopping centre- my son loved it. The room in the hotel could've done with having a few English channels as there was just CNN, which as you can imagine you get bored with after a few times. Good job we took our Mini DVD player, Theres a scart socket in the TV so you can just tune it in to AV channel. Something else too, there isnt an oven or grill so you cant really cook anything in your room!! Shame! There's a bus directly outside the Mirramar that goes to Fuengirola centre which saves you about 30 mins walking time! It goes every half hour or so, you just have to wait and one will turn up, but at 90cents, you cant complain! Well if you need to know anything else at all, dont hesitate to contact me! Hope this is ok!

We have just returned from these apartments and we booked late so got a really good deal. The apartment slept 5 but our booking was for 3 so there was plenty of room. I must admit if there were 5 of you, it would be cramped. We had a room on the corner and it had a massive balcony overlooking the pool on one side and the sea and the castle on the other. We only had the sun on it for a short while in the morning though so it could not be used for sun-bathing. If you were offered this and had to pay extra that may be worth bearing in mind. The pool area was kept clean and the pool bar did snacks. This was also used for breakfast and that was served buffet style. It was 6 euros though so you could get much better deals if you went outside the hotel. We generally made our own in the apartment. We did not use the resturant so cannot comment. Other reviews comment about the distance from the beach and shops, but it really depends on whether you are a walker. I did not find it a problem at all really and if you get tired, there are plenty of taxis. It is around 35 - 40 minutes to walk to the train and bus stations if you want to go further afield. If you have a family, these apartments are very good and to be honest, if you had small children you would not have to venture very far to keep them amused. Lots of things going on all the time. There was trampolenes and a bouncy castle and a childrens pool. There was a kids club too. We did not use the bar or entertainment in the evening as it was always full of families with very small children, not really our cup of tea. The reception and bar staff were all very friendly and strive for customer service excellence by giving employee of the month awards. The reception staff all speak very good english. I would go back again, if I got a cheap deal again.
Cheap and Cheerful, Definately worth it

My boyfriend and I decided on a cheap break in the sun before everything got too busy and this was a great place for it. We got the holiday online at holiday for £350 for the pair of us, hardly something you could complain about. Having paid so little for our holiday we wasn't expecting wonderful things but were both pleasantly surprised by our hotel. The rooms were large and clean with a large balcony. Our balcony did face onto building work going on but other then the odd chattering or whistle we did not hear a noise from the building site. We were self catering so could not comment on the food. Mornings we would go to the myramar centre for breakfast as this had a few little places to eat, I would not recomend it for dinner times tho. For dinner we would take a walk - a fair walk to the town, about 15 - 20mins realistically but a pleasant enough walk if you are not in a hurry, or stillettos - and eat along the front. I highly recommend an italian place there called Portofino Restaurant. We ate in the 3 times in a week and the food was not only gorgeous but very good value. The staff at the hotel were wonderful, the reception staff were exceptionally pleasant. The 3 first choice entertainers we fantastic if you have children. Constantly organising games and activities throughout the day and putting on a show every night. The entertainment obviously wasn't our kind of thing as a couple with no children but you could definately appreciate the effort they put in. Adult bar was a nice place to get away from the children but a few 16year olds managed to sneak in. The only problem I could mention about the hotel is the name Fuengirola Beach is very misleading as it is not in a convenient distance from the beach, other than that it was a lovely place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone. Finally - Don't get sucked into the scratchcard scam like we did. We walked out of the hotel to go get some milk and was approached by a mental scouse woman who spoke very quickly. Before we knew it 2 scratchcards had been scratched off for us and lucky me, I won the "Star prize". This was either 600 euros, a sony camcorder or a free holiday. After being assured this was not a timeshare thing we were taken to a presentation centre to collect our prizes, sat with a guy trying to sell us timeshare for 2 hours then were told we'd won a holiday. Not sure we really have but I will look into it. Dont be sucked in yourselves tho, there are better things to do then sit and listen to them waffle for hours.
My husband, daughter 16 and son 13 and I spent one week holiday here and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The apartments are clean and comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils, even down to bin bags. Reception very helpful any time I had a query and one day... more
