A very happy holiday
We were the first visitors of the new season and couldn't have asked for better treatment. The food was excellent and the staff fun and friendly. We made some great new friends there both staff and visitors alike. Ozzy, Eda, Aslan and all thanks for a great time. The hotel is a little way out but the local buses and taxis are reasonable and very easy to use. Time Out bar in Hisaronu is definitely worth a visit if you like a good night out. This was my first visit to Turkey and I loved it.
Pleasantly Surprised
The Greenland was a pleasant surprise, after reading mixed reviews, the bad ones quite damning, we were expecting it to be poor. Clean rooms (although a little small) with nice bathrooms, friendly, pleasant staff who couldn't do enough to make you enjoy your stay, a lovely pool and better food than was expected all made our stay there very enjoyable. A bit too far from the beach and main town but a courtesy bus is available and dolmus (local bus) runs frequently.
awful !!!!
we stayed in this "HOTEL"! from 25th sep - 3rd oct 2006,iv`e got to say it was not a pleasant experiance!on arrival at 5 am,we were greeted with a huge plate of sandwiches!ok we thought!when we got to our room we found the covers damp on the third bed!we found our way around (took all of 5 mins!) & sat by the pool,we found the pool area rather grubby most of the time, nothing like what you would expect from a 4*!!!!!!!! which this hotel is certainly NOT!!!more like a 2*+!!most people spent the week living on CHIPS!!!!! food was very poor, they seem to cater mainly for germans, but we only saw 2 or 3 there!very limited selection, which was mainly warm at best!!the staff were ok at times, but on several occasions they were rude to my partners son when he asked for a drink!when we first got there,we asked if we could book a late check-out room,we ended up asking every day to be told "ask tomorrow"on the last day we ended up having a row with reception about it,and had to get our rep to talk to them to get it sorted, which she did in about 5 mins!! the pool toilets were dirty & smelly,as was the sauna, which smelt as if someone had used it as a toilet!!!entertainment was very poor, started too late and only lasted for half an hour or so! overall a very disapointing holiday, which was a shame as its a lovely setting!but would not return to this hotel,or recomend it !!
Disappointed.
Not a good hotel, definitley not a 4 star. Tiny rooms which were only cleaned a few times. Poor choice of food that was usually cold. Flies everywhere. The pool area is nice and the man who keeps it tidy does a good job and works hard. The waiters and bar staff only seem to be pleasant if you are under the age of 25 and female! I booked with Thomas Cook the rep was good but was unable to get my party moved to a different hotel as there were no vacancies anywhere else. I booked this Hotel after reading many good reviews about this Hotel but I was really disappointed. There were quite a few other complaints from other guests when I was there (mid Oct) so its not just me being whingey!
Give the Greenland a miss and find another Hotel, the area is beautiful.
Ive been to Turkey 8 times before and have always had fantastic holidays but unfortunatley chose a bad hotel this time! I booked the Greenland as it looked like the ideal place for me and my husband to chill for the week but all we wanted to do was to escape the place and after paying out quite a lot for all inclusive we ended up paying out a lot more to eat and drink in other bars and restaurants. The Greenland is supposed to be 4 star but even the staff admit it should be 3 star at a push, all the other guests were complaining about different things ranging from lack of security and rooms being broken into, dirty rooms, my main gripe was the staff's attitude and the awful food. On my first visit to the restaurant the waiters were running around doing monkey impressions, pretending to be sick and acting very very strangely! The food was virtually inedible, it was all cold and looked liked it had been reheated and prepared a long time before it was served, there were loads of flies everywhere, cats sat on the chairs and under the tables, the roof leaked rain water, I could go on and on! The entertainment staff worked hard but on one night they were dressed up as babies shouting at each other, taking the mickey out of disabled people, mentally ill people and gay's, it was a bit embarassing, not funny and not what you would expect as entertainment from a 4 star Hotel! The rooms were basic but comfortable, the mini bar was reasonably priced but our room only got cleaned 3 times in the week we were there, the bathroom towels were a dark grey colour and smelt awful so we ended up using beach towels instead. We were really disappointed with the hotel and asked the first choice rep if we could move to an alternative hotel, in May 06 we stayed at the Pegasos Palace in nearby Sarigerme, this is a fantastic Hotel so we would have liked to have gone there but it would have cost us another £251 so we stayed put. Ive never been to Turkey and looked forward to going home before but this time I was counting down the days and when the coach arrived to pick us up for the airport there were a lot of people cheering so it wasnt just us! All of the other guests who we spoke to at our Hotel all agreed it shouldnt be a 4 star and wasnt a good place to stay. However, Hisaronu, Olu Deniz and my favourite place Fethiye are all beautiful places to visit and you will have a fantastic time as long as you find a different hotel, there are loads of lovely hotels in the area, many a lot cheaper than the Greenland so do a bit of research and pick a good one and your guaranteed to have a brilliant holiday in this part of Turkey.
Great Holiday
Hello! My girlfriend(24) and I(26) stayed At the Hotel Greenland from 22nd June for a week and really anjoyed our holiday. It is a fairly small hotel, but we found it to be ideal, perfect for a week away. The staff are very friendly and helpful and Charly, Hero and Ozzy will keep you smiling and entertained during the daytime. They do try their best during the evenings but it is very hard with only 3/4 of them. There was the odd night when outside acts came in and we did actually enjoy their performance's, especially the 'street dancers' (I still feel dizzy thinking about that lad spinning around and around on his head!) I am not fussy and found that the food was great, however my partner wasn't as happy, but she didn't go hungry. The odd night there would be lovely kebab's and great stews but as per usual breakfast was awful! The pool is great, the slide is a laugh and the beer is fine. We had a couple of afternoons of rain and everyone went under the covered bar area whilst Charly and the crew tried their hardest to entertain us with pool competitions, darts etc. I really think they are a credit to the hotel. The scenery surrounding the hotel is amazing and you really have to take the free bus to the lagoon for a day, it was lovely. Stay on the bus until the last stop. It's a free private beach, right on the lagoon, just pay for your sunbeds, food, drink etc, but it is very cheap, cheaper than the hotel shop! I think our holiday was so good because we met a lot of great people (Hi to Lee+Kathryn, Mark+Claire and of course Molly!) and it seemed to be the norm there for everyone to chat together and have big groups to laugh with during the evening so if this isn't your thing you may struggle to find a quiet spot, but if the weater is nice in the evening you can sit and watch the stars as we did a couple of times on the terrace in front of the reception. All in all we had a great holiday and I think for a week away this place is great, 2 weeks might be too much but seeing as I haven't tried it I'm best not to comment, Our week away was 330 pounds each was about right, I've seen it since at 660 each and I would say that is far far too expensive for a week. If you've booked here for a week you'll love it. Any questions? feel free to email me, tonymadden@tesco.net
fabulous holiday!!!
Myself and my boyfriend stayed at this all inclusive hotel for a week. I have to say it was our best holiday yet. The hotel was lovely, but it was the people that really made it for us. The food was somewhat hit and miss, some days i survived on soup, other days i loved everything! The pool is fab and the slide was so much fun to go down, but it is not supervised and at times we had about 8 people going at once, i must admit i got bruises head to toe! but i'd say don't let your kids get involved and watch them constantly if they go on it, cuz you can get a bit stuck, scratched or crushed!!!. The bar staff are a great laugh and the entertainers; Ozzie, Charley and Hero, are so much fun, all day long there about to chat to, laugh at and teach english to! the entertainment some nights was great and they were always about getting everyone involved. for us younger lot they would get us out and about too when they finished work and took us into town. bars in town are great too, esp as i wouldnt say hotel entertainment is everyones taste. we were lucky when we went as everyone staying at hotel was friendly and we made some good friends, however if you are more inclined to want to keep yourself to yourself i wouldnt advise it, when we were there everyone chatted and sat around together. i'd recommend this hotel mainly to young couples or families with teenagers. but i would highly recommend it, i'd love to go back!
Hotel Greenland, Ovacik!
We arrived at this hotel at 5 in the morning and considering this is rather early the hotel staff were wonderfully polite and helpful. We were greeted with sandwiches which was nice. The main thing I would like to comment on is the cleanliness, the place was spotless, room, pool, toilets and dining room incuded. The food average, but considering both of us in the party are very picky eaters this is saying something. The entertainment was rubbish, but the two boys organising this did try their best and made you feel very welcome, however I would recommend trying to get out after dinner because Hisoniru is nice and welcoming. The turks are fantastically friendly and we would definetly go back.
Great Hotel
My family and I have been to this hotel twice and are going back this year for the third time, the food is great always plenty of choice the staff are very helpfull, great with the kids, rooms a bit small but you only sleep in them and they are always very clean, the swimming pool has a great slide but it is not supervised but over all a great hotel.
greenland
