" Myself, my husband and my 4 year old... "

Myself, my husband and my 4 year old son stayed in the Ponet Mar for 1 week in May. This hotel was fairly average. The cleanlyness wasnt up to standard and the towels provided were useless. Its the 1st time I have ever come across waterproof towels. The food was very poor and the Head of the resturant was awful, he wasnt at all child friendly and wasn't impressed if you ordered off the menu rather than eating from the buffet. On our first night there we choose to eat in the hotel as it had been a long day travelling. My son didnt want anything to eat only a slice of bread and it was a huge effort for the "head guy" to get this for him. When he did eventually give it to us it was very hard bread and my son (being only 4) didnt like it. This guy was not at all happy and I felt he held this against us for the rest of the week. We tried the evening buffet on another occassion, it served mainly seafood and salads which many kids dont/wont eat. The evening entertainment was rubbish and again not at all child friendly.
On the whole the hotel was very average but I wouldnt see myself rushing back there again.

Just got back from week at Ponent Mar - fantastic hotel - facilities great - staff superb. What can I say - best family holiday in ages and will be back as soon as finances and the " credit crunch " permits !!
I would recommend Ponent Mar for a family holiday for anybody looking for peace, quiet and value for money.

as i had been transferred due to problems at the hotel i was expecting to stay at, i wasnt very happy in the first place. when i got there the guy behind the key counter was so rude when we asked for a safe or a taxi...when we got into the room there was no electricity. the hotel looked really nice from outside but the rooms were small and cramped and the safes were all in one room instead of having your own safe in your own room. the look of the hotel is brilliant but the quality is disappointing...when i was transferred back to the original hotel, voranova(which has way worse reviews than this one), it didnt look as pretty as ponent mar but it had everything that ponent mar was missing.

A great very memorable family holiday. Rooms were kept very clean and the service was very polite and cheerful. Lacked a few sockets, the towels were waterproof (but in plenty) and there was no grill/toaster, just a 2 ring hob. Despite this there were too many nice things about this place - the view (need to book sea view), the location, the relaxed atmosphere, courteous staff, etc. I will go back as it is a great base to discover this lovely island - take the train to Soller and then the tram to Port Soller, shop and visit the cathedral in Palma, take a tour to the caves of drac, - take in as much as possible and you will never be disappointed.

Just returned from a week at the Ponent Mar Apartments. Judging by the previous reviews, I think I probably may have been expecting too much.
On checking in the first impression was good, the receptionist was polite and efficient.
The room, which was situated on the first floor close to the reception, was perfectly adequate. I certainly would not give it the 4 class it has; I've stayed in 2 and 3 star accommodation that was equal if not better.
Unfortunately, because of the open design of the building, the reception noise travels very easily to the room. The noise was sometimes loud enough to wake you up in the early hours of the morning.
Even though it was quite warm at night and there was a control for both heating and aircon in the room. I was told at reception they only have one working at a time, which was the heating.
There was a very unpleasant smell from the drain in the bathroom. Then on the second morning we had a flood from the ceiling which covered the bathroom floor and I had to put towels down to stop it leaking into the hall.
It took an hour, two phone calls and two visits to reception asking for the manager before I got any action.
I've never had any problems like this in any other accommodation; I was very disappointed and on my experience would not recommend this accommodation.

What an amazing holiday we had, we all had no complaints at all. Everything was perfect from arriving to leaving.
It was great being in an apartment but having the facility of a hotel.
Everywhere was extremely clean and well cared for. With daily maid service, and fresh towels. The apartment was very well equip and even had a vase for flowers, table cloth and napkins! The hairdryer in the bathroom was very handy.
Our sea view was really fantastic and was a pleasure to just sit and have a few drinks on our balcony when the kids where tucked in.
We found the laundry room very handy for ironing clothes too, although I never used the washing machine, I know its there for next time.
You must try the downstairs restaurant and eat outside on the patio it was pure bliss, fab steaks and salmon and very cheap!
Our kids loved the pool and the entertainment that there was (just enough!). There is a group of us going this year.
We booked direct again and got a discount. We are also looking forward to our free wireless internet access, free daily pool towels and a nice bottle of wine on arrival to.
We have really been spoilt with this holiday and I think that we would find it very difficult to match for quality and value for money.
I think that this is very close to a five star hotel/apartment. We are all very excited about our next stay!

" What a lovely hotel, was everything... "

What a lovely hotel, was everything it was described as will definitely be going back here am just looking to see how much it would be in September.
One thing I will fault about the hotel was the amount of screaming children there were around the pool all the time! But we got used to this in the end.
I would highly recommend the buffet style breakfast and tea there was so many nice things to choose from even though we were self catering we ate in the hotel a few times and it was very nice. The choice of puddings and chocolates at the dinner buffet was yummy!
Anyway one who is considering this I would really recommend it and book through the Preston travel centre it is quite a lot cheaper.
The rooms and the hotel were very clean and the maids came in daily to change the towels and mop around!

Stayed at this hotel through the Stephen Roach cycling holidays.
There were three of us sharing a one bedroom apartment which all have sea views. It has a wood frame double sofa bed in the sitting area and two singles beds in the bedroom with built in wardrobes, chest of drawers and a telephone.
The bathroom had a small bath with shower and wall to ceiling mirrors with a hairdryer fixed to the wall.
There is another fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers for those sleeping on the sofa bed in the main room of the apartment.
There is also a dining table, fridge and electric rings. It really was a lovely apartment - glasses, cups, plates, knife & forks, saucepan etc, were also in the cupboards. All in all VERY IMPRESSIVE. The terrace is also nice with the bedroom and sitting room having their own doors leading to the terrace - handy when you don't want to disturb those who are still sleeping.
The food is to die for - be prepared to put on weight!! the puddings are lovely!!!!! I think this is only for those who stay full board/all inclusive, you can go up and help yourself to seconds or as many times as you like...
The staff are all friendly, for those who may get bored they have a variety of games behind reception, a computer room...
The swimming pool and terrace is ideal for sunbathing and comes with lovely views. Put your towel out on the sun loungers as the Germans/French do like to occupy a few!!
A walk around the hotel grounds is a must to discover the little private beach and to look at the lovely views.
We are going again this year (2006).
Highly recommend this hotel.

Great place for people that don’t want hordes of ill behaved kids running about the place and naff evening entertainment.
The rooms are great and clean and on the odd night we had an evening meal in the restaurant we were very impressed. Great food and pretty cheap too.
Pool gets a bit busy in high season i believe but we were there in oct and it was really tranquil. Couldn’t find this hotel anywhere except at www.prestontravelcentre.co.uk
They were very helpful and their prices were quite a bit lower than booking with the hotel.
I have booked for ourselves and a group of friends for summer 06 so you can tell we were impressed. Try the paella by the pool on wednesday lunchtimes. Its was delicious!!

Stayed here 2 years ago and have just booked our
Second holiday for may 2005. The last time we stayed in a studio apartment with a sea view. These
Studios are all on the ground floor and have a small sunken terrace at ground level, very handy
To climb out onto the adjacent grass area to sunbathe. Studios very clean, one thing we did miss was a toaster. Although there are only 2 of us we have opted this year to push the boat and have booked a 1 bed roomed apartment again with a sea view, double the space with a much larger larger balcony.

Great pool, and lovely gardens. Staff very friendly, good service. Ideal situation, short stroll to the nightlife, always got a great nights sleep very quiet situation. For those who like to swim in the sea but like us cant stand all that messy sand you have direct access down some steps to a quiet rocky bay which is great to swim in.

We prefer to go self-catering, there is a small supermarket at the hotel, but there is a huge mercadona supermarket about 10 mins walk which is much cheaper. Looking forward to our next stay, have been to Majorca many times and haven’t found anything which can match the quality of the ponent mar. Mix of nationalities lots of Swedish a few Brits.
