This was my first holiday with my boyfriend. He really wasn’t keen on going to this hotel as I booked with Flyglobespan and they don't provide reps!

But I researched the hotel and the island a lot before we went, so I knew exactly where I could find all the information I needed.

We were dropped off by the bus and we just assumed that it was the Mimosa park hotel- there was no sign on the building except round the back of it! But the reception area was lovely and the receptionist was really nice and helpful.

We were on the 1st floor at the back of the hotel which was good because I’d read about the busy road! But the view we had from the back wasn't good- it was a flat roof which hosted some lilo's and things dropped from rooms above!!

One day this girl walked over the roof and past our room- I nearly died- as it’s the last place you expect to see someone!

The room was basic but it was liveable. The cleaners were in everyday but all they did was put the same sheets on the bed. Which I found off-putting!

The towels I presumed were clean ones! The walls are unfortunately paper thin- the people in the rooms next to us were terrible- they would shout and scream at 2am - have people lost their manners and consideration for others?

We ate out a few nights when the menu in the hotel restaurant had weird things on it! All inclusive was great - it would have cost us 1.50 euros for glass of water otherwise!

The drinks on the all inclusive were limited though-but they had the usual Spanish equivalents available on it!

We sat by the pool most days- and apart from this one kid- who everyone in the entire hotel hated with a vengeance- it was ok! Some of the males on holiday from England were a bit OTT!

The entertainers were good fun- there was a daily quiz to attempt - and one day we got full marks - but we were cheated out of it! We won a bottle of champers on the last night though. Bingo was on every night and we had this terrible act called the BIG SHOW-cheesy and unbearable couldn't cover it!

Although the stunts they pulled were fantastic and scary! There was a hypnotist one night- and a magician- they were both excellent!

Breakfast was a full English one if you wanted- lunch was almost the same as dinner menu sometimes!

Having the supermarket next to us was great if you needed more sun tan lotion and things like that. We stayed up on a hill but it wasn't that difficult to walk down- as there are steps at the back of the pool area.

We were quite surprised about how inexpensive some of the restaurants were- but to be honest the drinks were overpriced most places. The pirate show is a must see- the stunts are fantastic!

We went to marine land -there’s a free bus there and it’s easy to get back by bus but you can literally only spend about 90mins max in marine land- there isn’t a lot to do!

Other than that we had an amazing time- there wasn’t a lot of young people our age in the hotel but that was a good thing, because at least you got a half decent sleep!

I have been back to this hotel 3 times since the age of 8 (I am now 18) and we have never been disappointed.

I have to admit the decor in the rooms is pretty outdated but how much time do you spend in there anyway?

The entertainment is great, the food is great and the pool area is fantastic!

If you are looking for a quiet holiday, then I would choose another hotel but for a great family fun holiday then definitely put this on your list.

I did read the reviews before our holiday and wasn’t deterred by what I read, a holiday is what you make it, and although for the time of year we had fantastic weather and it was the last week of the season.

The Entertainment team, Andy Mac, Claire, Becky, Laura and Stuart gave their all and worked their socks off, the only show I had a problem with was Fun Time, for including an 18year old deaf and blind in one eye dog in the performance, it was shocking. but we took it in good humour as did most of the audience, silence fell across the room when it was produced from a box that had been thrown around like a ball. No fault of the hotel or the Team but it did have an effect on the viewing!

The food was alright, nothing to shout about, kids struggled with little choice, my 4 nearly 5 year old would have preferred the snacks provided for all inclusive residents, it would have been helpful to have a provision for purchasing food rather than having to wait all day for evening meal, the kids couldn’t even get crisps and chocolate from the machines as they had been closed up for the season. Luckily the shops are just a couple on mins walk out the back and a supermarket situated right next door!

We had a fantastic time at Mimosa Park, yes the room could do with some TLC and the road could get noisy, but after singing and dancing for about 5 hours a night we just crashed out! Oh, and lots of booze! 8/10.

We stayed at Mimosa Park October 2006. 2 Adults, 4 Kids 14, 12, 11, 6. Overall we had a great holiday. The weather was brilliant. Hotel was as described in most of the reviews. Food was typical buffet style and we found that there was something for every one. Very edible nothing to complain about at all.

Snacks between main meal times was very handy. The hotel rooms were quite small and in need of a bit of refurbishment due to wear and tear but nothing that would spoil a holiday. We stayed at the front of the hotel and the noise from the road was noticeable for a day or so but you do get used to it its not too bad. My only advice for the hotel management would be to install a small fridge in the rooms and maybe a hairdryer like many other hotels have. The entertainment in the hotel was just OK.

Couple of games for the kids during the day and evening mini disco followed by the evening entertainment no real kids club to speak of where adults don’t have to worry about them for an hour a day! It was the end of their season so perhaps this is why? Not the best hotel we have visited for entertainment but not the worst either. Great pool and cleaned every day with on site life guard every day!

Few mins in taxi to Magaluf and just few minute walk down to Palma Nova. Pirates and Son Amar shows definitely worth the visit also the Western Water Park was brill for adults and the kids, would definitely go again to the water park! Overall Fab time had by us all. 8/10

My family and I have just come back from two weeks in Momosa park, after reading the reviews this hotel had been given (after booking) I was horrified to think what I had done, but the hotel is fantastic and has completely been let down by the reviews given on here as I don’t think they are the same hotel!

We were on the 9th floor which ok is on the main road but the views are certainly not of the road there was magnificent views of the mountains if people look beyond the road! As for there being no fresh veg and everything being fried, there was fresh salad, fruit and veg for lunch and dinner, of course the food was a bit repetitive but that’s to be expected when they cook everything twice a day, but they do there best and make everyone feel welcome.

The kids loved the entertainment Andy Mac, Stuart, Laura, Becky and Claire certainly know how to entertain the kids and keep them dancing for the mini disco, whilst also entertaining the adults after the kids bit plus they did various different competitions with the kids in the day. The only let down was the ignorant other holiday makers that were there the same time as us who thought they could push in front of us for food, lifts etc which is quite annoying when we are a family of five its not as if they didn’t know we were there but this is no fault of the hotel!

The only other gripe I would have is the bar its a small bar with a maximum of three staff who work there socks off with little thanks or respect, so the queues are quite long especially as you can only order 4 drinks at a time with all inclusive which being a family of five was a bit annoying but it just meant me and hubby both had to go the bar at the same time so was easily solved!

Oh well I must have been staying at a different hotel to the other people on here!

I thought the hotel was well run and lovely, the carpet in the hallway on our floor (the 8th) was ok. And our room was really clean (unless we had good room maids) they even changed the sheets halfway through the week, which I thought was really good and towels were changed every day.

We had a really good laugh, there wasn't too many kids about and the one's that were there were well behaved. The entertainment team headed by Andy Mac were fab with the kids taking them off to do different things during the day then entertaining them at night. When we went out my daughter kept asking to go back to be at the pool with other kids she'd met and join in the activities.

The food was well presented and was lovely, they could do with a bit more variety with puddings though as there was some strange combinations, but all in all it was nice.

The walls were thin though and we could here everything our neighbours on one side were talking about. But saying that, they were very loud anyway.

All in all we had a brilliant time and met some lovely people and I laughed all week, sometimes a holiday is what you make it!

Oh and Stuart (entertainment team) if you ever read this, don't forget my birthday... it's on Jan 7th! And thanks to all of you for making my daughters holiday so special.

Very poor. The rooms are very basic and the walls are pathetically thin to the point to hearing the people next door having a shower!

The place is dirty such as the carpets which look like they have been through a war.

The toilet seat was broken, there were bulbs missing in the lights, the bed legs were broken, everything looked like it had been painted 20 years ago with dirty yellow tinges to the walls and wardrobes, the noise from the road (which wasn't mentioned in the brochure) was terrible because its a busy duel carriageway and the tiles all over the floors made a horrible noise every time you turned over in bed (i.e. no carpets in rooms!). The lifts were usually broken, there were literally hundreds of out of control kids all over the place and all in all, very nearly ruined our holiday!

Palma Nova is beautiful, we have been in Santa Lucia hotel which is a palace compared to this place trust me. The company which owns Mimosa Park has just bought Santa Lucia so that may go down hill in quality now, but I certainly hope not.

On the up side to Mimosa Park, the food was lovely as was the dining room where we ate. The pool area was clean and looked lovely at night. That’s basically it.

All in all, Palma Nova gets a big 10/10 but Mimosa Park gets a 2/10 unfortunately.

Our first impressions on Mimosa was mixed. The reception was lovely but the rooms were basic, being on the 7th floor at the side of a main road, had my husband swearing he would be leaving on the next flight home. The reception and the reps were brilliant however and we go a swap for a 3rd floor at the back of the hotel.

This hotel is not good if you have any problems walking, the lifts are very temperamental and my daughter and I always ended up taking the stairs. My husband would appear sometimes as long as half an hour later.

My 9 year old enjoyed the buffet, which is always a big plus for any one who has kids.

We enjoyed all the activities and most of the shows. Although some guest did not feel the same way we did

We did find however this hotel took in a lot of group bookings and sometimes the all men groups could be a bit rowdy.

The beach was not far and my daughter and I would return again to Mimosa, she was always at the pool and we never had any problem with the sun loungers.

Unfortunately my husband who has mobility problems would not even consider returning, as Mimosa is on a slight hill and the problems with the lifts.

Check in was a disgrace, we were eventually given a room on the 9th floor overlooking the duel carriage way, and within sight and sound of the motorway, the traffic noise was constant.

With such a small room even for two very tidy people there was little space to store belongings or cases. If there had been three people using this room (there was a fold down 3rd bed) it would have been unbearable with no space even to walk between the beds. We were woken nightly by our neighbours talking or snoring the walls are so thin.

We spent a lot of time waiting for the lifts which were old, cramped and stopped at which ever floor they wanted to rather than where you wanted to go.

Breakfast was a free for all, trying to find a table and get you buffet meal was a joke with constant queues at all the toast and beverage machines. Dinner was a little better but mainly because more people decided to eat out, as we did on occasion.

By the end of our week there I can say I don't think the cleaners had actually swept or washed our floor they certainly re made beds daily whether they needed to be made or not. One good thing about this hotel it has air conditioning!

After arriving at Palma airport in the lovely heat, I was keen to get to the hotel to shower off and get changed. What a shock we got when we arrived! We got our keys for our room in the gorgeous looking reception which Mimosa Park has and made our way up in the tiny lift. When the lift doors opened, I was shocked to see pictures smashed on the walls, glass all over the floors and one of the most filthiest carpets I have ever seen! I'm talking filthy here, not just something that could do with a vacuum, I'm talking filthy as in ground in dirt all over! After that shock, we made our way down the corridor to our room and opened the door. This is where our hearts sank! Below is a small list of what to expect if you go to Mimosa Park hotel:

Filthy walls which are supposed to be white but are yellow and brown.

No carpets in the rooms, just tiled and dirty.

Filthy wardrobes.

Filthy bed sheets and pillows (even after they had changed them).

Broken Toilet seats (4 couples complained to what we know of).

Missing light bulbs.

Paper thin walls - The biggest problem! You can hear every word your neighbours are saying and can even hear the water running in their bathroom when they are having a wash!

No felt or sliders underneath the bed legs - Coupled with the tiles on the floor and the paper thin walls, imagine the row people make when they are continually moving the bed because the rooms are so small.

Terrible road noise from the dual carriageway situated right outside.

Terrible views all round.

Nowhere near the beach! 5 mins walk if you’re quick!

Kids, kids, kids everywhere (even when the schools should have been back in the UK) running and screaming all over the place with their parents not caring less! It was more like something out of Yarmouth or Blackpool!

I really love Palma Nova and we had a great holiday but this hotel did tarnish it. From what I've been told, it used to be an 18-30's hotel a few years back but they haven't updated the hotel since which is probably why it’s such a mess.

On the good side:

The air con is great.

The food was very nice (one thing that saved it from a 1 rating from me).

The pool is big (even though we never sat round it).

There is a supermarket right next door (Caprabo).

2 years ago we stopped at the Santa Lucia hotel which was absolutely brilliant in every way. I'm amazed to find that Mimosa Park has the same 3 stars rating as Santa Lucia had 2 years ago because it really isn't a patch on it.

Unfortunately, the company that owned Santa Lucia 2 years ago has now sold it to the same company that runs Mimosa Park so that hotel will probably go down the pan too!

September 2006: Great holiday, great company, terrible hotel.

My wife myself and my daughter have just returned from 1 weeks holidays at the hotel and I must warn anyone thinking about going to this hotel - don't. This has to be about the worst hotel I have ever seen. The food is all fried with no fresh vegetables. The rooms are tiny and the walls paper thin. The rooms are also filthy even after being cleaned.

The lifts are useless and are constantly jamming between floors. The pool is filthy. The poolside is just as disgusting. There is no room poolside either as they have jammed in as many loungers as possible. There is absolutely no entertainment for kids despite what they say. The kids club is locked 24/7. The so called kids play park is not even in the hotel grounds it is down the road in a sand pit next to the main road. Thank god for the supermarket next door as the food is rubbish.

Avoid this 60's styled hotel like the plague there are plenty others on this god forsaken replica of Great Yarmouth island!

Having just spent a week at this poor excuse of an hotel, I can’t believe how easily pleased people can be. We arrived at 1.30am Sunday morning and were given the keys to a broom cupboard for ourselves and 2 children.

In the morning on inspection of our 16 month old babies cot I put it straight onto the balcony as it was nothing short of a disgrace. I wouldn’t have put a dog in it! The reception staff were totally ignorant and would happily ignore you till they had finished looking at holiday snaps, the papers etc.

If you are unlucky enough to get a room overlooking the duel carriageway at the front you’ll need to take your industrial ear muffs! The location is uphill from resort and inadequate for families with young children and pushchairs (lots of steps). The reps were only interested in you if you were buying excursions otherwise they couldn't care less and were as unhelpful as the reception staff.

We know we weren't the only family to complain, 1 even leaving a week early. The beds were totally uncomfortable and falling to bits (the Salvation Army would turn these down). The bathroom was grubby with missing panels in the ceiling, the walls were paper thin and you could hear everything that the people next door were saying.

Would definitely not recommend Mimosa Park to anyone thinking of a relaxing holiday.

My partner and I with our 4 children have just returned from two weeks half board at Mimosa Park Hotel and we have had a really great time.

We booked two triple rooms, which were placed next to each other (though we did have to ask for that) at the front of the hotel. As a few people have mentioned, there is traffic noise but we never found it a problem. The hotel could probably do with some modernisation in the near future.

The rooms were fairly small but not overly cramped and cleaned every day with fresh towels; each room has a small, furnished balcony. You can hire fridges and of course safety deposit boxes. The air con was great - a real bonus, although we didn't have the sweltering temperatures we expected, we still used it a lot.

The pool was a good size but did get busy, although there were loads of sun beds, it would still be a good idea to get your towels down early if you plan to stay by the pool. There was always a lifeguard on duty, which was reassuring. We were in the pool every day even when it rained!

We thought the food was good, plenty to choose from. Breakfast was cereal, toast, cooked breakfast (sausage, bacon, eggs, beans etc..) and there was always plenty of fresh fruit, cakes, bread, ham, croissants, fruit juices and hot drinks. Dinners were good too, loads of salad, always chips and potatoes of some sort, a carvary every night, variable dishes often with themes, Italian & Mexican but always nice and lots of puddings and more fruit. Even the fussiest eaters would find something they liked and it was always presented beautifully. Guest on half board basis could have lunch for 7 euros.

The entertainment team worked hard and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the time they spent with them. There is plenty going on during the day and night for the adults as well as the kids, midday quiz, bingo, mini disco, water polo, all sorts of games and even Mr & Mrs Mimosa nights!

Our reps were great too, always happy to help and full of information about what to do and see on holiday. Everyone at the hotel was friendly enough.

Palma Nova is a lovely resort, the beaches are beautifully clean and the resort really comes to life when the sun goes down, although we never found it rowdy. Magaluf is only a short walk away too. We hired a 5 seater Safari pedal car for 8 euros an hour (plus 20 returnable deposit) went on a banana boat, 6 euros each and there are plenty of other beach activities like pedelos, water skiing and doughnut rides. Banana Joes is a great pub and easily within staggering distance!

We went to the Pirates show, not to be missed, a fab night that we all enjoyed, just make sure your children don't pinch the sangria when the lights go off! ;) We booked the trip through the reps and got transport for a reasonable price. Take plenty of euros for the programmes (5), Pirates bandana (5) swords (6) and souvenir photos (45 for 6 photo set) See if you can get a photo with a pirate as you queue up, or get them to sign your programme (don't forget a pen!) Don't leave Majorca without seeing this show, it really is spectacular.

We also really enjoyed the Caves of Drac (under 7's go free and its about 9 euros each for adults & kids, don't book through the reps as its far more expensive and they charge for kids from 3 years)

Marineland was great too, look out for the free tickets for kids though (one free with each paying adult), we were given some at Palma airport and McDonalds. There is also a courtesy bus; you just have to pay to get the bus back, about 1.30 euros each. Don't miss the seal lion and dolphin shows; the parrot show is great fun too.

We went to Western Water Park, again look out for free tickets from McDonalds and other places. It’s a great park with Seal lion & diving shows and daring water rides. Again, free bus, you just pay to come back. Leave well before it closes or the buses will be packed, we walked back to the hotel and it took about 45 minutes. Dare you to go one the huge yellow slide!

Golf fantasia was well worth visiting, only a short walk into Palma Nova, it boasts 54 holes set in lush gardens, all for the equivalent of about a fiver each, you don't have to do all the holes at once either, you get your hand stamped and that allows entry later in the day.

There is a supermarket right next to the hotel, we made daily visits for water, ice creams and snacks, all very cheap, and there’s a car rental place next door too, we hired a new VW Touran for 5 days and explored the island.

Portal Vells is just down the road and was great for snorkelling and has a nudist beach, although there are two other normal beaches too. Formentor at the north eastern tip of the island was lovely, stunning views and a lovely but busy beach. We also drove to Alcudia, Cala St Vincient, Pueto Pollenca, Valldomossa and many more.

The weather wasn't the greatest for our fortnight but we still had a fantastic time, we would recommend Mimosa Park, Direct Holidays and Palma Nova especially for families.

Our only sadness was coming home!

Sarah, Phil and the kids x

We have just returned from 11 nights half board at the Mimosa Park and we have all had a fantastic holiday. My wife and I took our son and two of his friends all aged 15 and they have had a great time.

The hotel staff worked all hours keeping it clean and tidy. We were on the 3rd floor at the front of the hotel and the rooms were very clean with air conditioning, although some road noise was heard but you got use to it after a few days. The hotel food was good with a wide selection of salads, fish, pasta also a chef carving different meats each night. Some of the meals were repeated in the second week which was to be expected. The resort of Palma Nova was very clean and the beaches were some of the best we have visited on the island. The hotel reps and entertainment staff worked vary hard and delivered an excellent programme of entertainment and shows.

We would recommend this hotel and we will definitely return again. The area of Palma Nova is ideal for visiting such things as marine land, wacky west water park, Palma and the show that every body should see is Pirates which was brilliant.

Perfect Place for Young Fit Adults....

We have just returned from a family holiday at The Mimosa Park. In total 8 adults, and 6 children, oldest child was almost 7, youngest just over 3. The hotel is really big - 9 floors. If I was considering holidaying in Spain with a family this is how I would rate the hotel out of 10 ( 10 being excellent , for me 5 being acceptable , 0 dire )

Travel time from airport - 25 mins - 8/10

Hotel Room - a family room - supposedly for 2 adults and 2 children - 2 / 10 - there were 2 single beds (which we pushed together) and a pull down bed which I had to top n tail my 4 and 6 year old children in - very disappointing. There are a lot of reports saying the walls are thin - THEY ARE !! Someone 2 rooms away knocked on their door and I opened mine.

Facilities - pool was good, shallow enough for kids to play, and deep enough for adults to play too. Pool bar good and served snacks. Function room good size with kids entertainment, bingo and cabaret. Entertainment was ok (6/10). Games room, internet room. Not big but something to pass the time. Only 3 lifts to serve 9 floors. You will wait, especially on your last day so be prepared to wait or get fit running up and down the stairs. Overall 6/10

Food - Half board, breakfast and evening meal all buffet style - 8/10

Food was very good - breakfast included croissants , toast , cakes , pastries , sausages , bacon , scrambled / boiled and fried eggs , Spanish omelette and hash browns / sauted potato etc , evening meal - large selection of basic salad (lettuce , tomato , onion beetroot etc ) special salads , carvery meat , chips (every night so no problem with feeding kids) vegetables , meat dishes - good choices.

Be prepared - at breakfast tea coffee water fruit juice is provided free - in the evening you will need to pay for all your drinks (unless you sneak some in with you.) Beer is about 2.50 , soft drinks 1.80 and vino about 2.50. So for a family of 4 allow 9 or 10 euros per night.

Location - brochure says 500m from beach, steps not suitable for people with walking problems - I would say beach is 500m as the crow flies, but by the time you have 2 carriers full of towels, sun cream, buckets spades etc you will need 10 REAL minutes to get there. As for the steps they are dead right, not many in fairness only about 15 but it is a steep walk back to the hotel - not difficult but with young children it is a frustration you don't relish. A supermarket is only about 4 minutes walk so you can get your water , vino and beer.

Overall 5/10

Resort - loved it, loads of shops, once you get to the beachfront, and Magalluf is walkable (15 minutes). Marineland was great - go to McD's for discount vouchers and catch the local Transabus for 1.30 euros each , each way , about 10 minutes ride. We saved about 20 euros going on our own.

Overall 8/10

In summary - this was a nice hotel, good food, clean, friendly staff who all spoke English, nice pool - but it was let down by poor rooms and its location. I would not stay there again through choice but I had a great time and you don't live in your room so ........
