Great Loaction, Not sure about the Germans!!
from Kelly53
The hotel itself is in a fantastic location opposite the beach with a 20 minute walk into Tingaki (Torch Reccommended). There are 2 pools, both with an abundance of sunbeds but be warned you need to set your alarm clock for 6am to get your towels down!! The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming including the maids and the owners. Towel service is included free of charge and you can change your towels every 2 days at reception. Rooms are spacious and spotless, cleaned daily with fresh towels and bedding. There is also a fridge, hairdryer and a kettle in every room. The food is ok. There is pasta at every meal and chips and salad which is really nice. There is always a selection of meats including pork, chicken and lamb. There is a kids buffet from about 5pm but this has to be pre-booked at reception. The snacks are served from 3pm until 5pm but only consist of cake and left over pie or sausages from lunch. The ice-cream was supposed to be for kids only but they will give to anyone who asks for it! There are 2 bars, pool bar and the main bar which opens from 6pm. The drinks included on the All Inclusive are Vodka, Brandy, Ouzo, Gin, Soft Drinks, coffee, tea & cocktail of the day which is served from 6pm until 11pm. Drinks are included from 10am until 11pm which is when the bars shut. Meals are served between the hours of: Breakfast 07.00-11.00 Lunch 12.30-14.30 Dinner 18.00-21.30 The entertainment is almost non existant, mini club starts from 10am as does stretching, there are aqua aerobics, football, volleyball and mini golf throughout the day and kids mini disco between 20.30+21.00. The adult entertainment starts from 21.30 and consists of a disco or a quiz. Most people either sat around the pool bar or sat at the bar inside where it was more relaxing. Car hire is available through the hotel and is cheaper than booking with a U.K company but most people hire quads(45 Euros a day) or scooters(25 Euros a day) which are available at the shop right next door to the hotel. Push bikes are also a really popular at 4 Euros a day. You can easily cycle to other resorts or beaches on the coast along from Tingaki. I would highly reccommend the day trip to Bodrum in Turkey. Bargins galore and the castle are a must!! This is cheaper to book with Tingaki agencies that offer the day trips! The only thing I could find fault with was the amount of Germans in the hotel. The Brits, Norweigans and other nationalities were really out-numbered. On our first week at the hotel that held 310 guests, there were 25 Brits, by the 2nd week this had risen to about 60! You had to be up at 6am to get your sunbeds and there was no politeness on their behalf. The amount of times we were barged out the way, pushed in front of and glared at was uncountable! But we did not let this ruin our holiday, we just found ourselves being as arrogant as them!!! I would definately return to this hotel and be reccommending to my customers in future. If you are used to high standard all inclusive holidays then this would probably be a let down but if you are looking for a relaxing break in the sun with good food and a selection of drinks included (if not going purely for the drink!!) then this holiday is ideal!!! (Would probably reccommend this hotel more for couples than families)
Rubbish do not stay here!
from Jaydee00
This hotel is a totally waste of money and I would advise people not to stay here! The entertainment is all in German we were not approached in the whole 2 weeks we were there to join in with any games! The food is awful and the same thing near enough every night! Flies were all over the salad and fruit as was not covered up! No drinks in room I asked for a bottle of water and got told I would have to pay even though it is supposed to be all inclusive! Poor choice of drinks once again hotel wanted more money for cocktails and even some fruit juices!!!!!!! Some staff very unfriendly especially 1 girl at pool bar so ignorant and would serve all the german guests first! This is not a hotel for English people and is 95% German! I hated my stay here and was a complete waste of money I even paid to stay elsewhere one night to get away from the place! I dont see how people can like this hotel they must never of experienced a decent holiday before as I can assure you this is the worst everr all inclusive I have been to and is no way a 4*
Pretty good...

Zorbas is a modern well run hotel. The staff were very pleasant, and although the food wasn't exceptional, none of us ever went hungry. The position of the hotel is well suited for people who love views of the sea and the mountains. Scenery is stunning here. The accommodation was very good and the air con was a godsend. All in all we had a great holiday here
Brilliant

Been on a few beach holidays and this was the best of them. I cannot rate the hotel highly enough. The hotel itself is beautiful, set just off a glorious beach about 20m from front door. The reception area is beautiful and the receptionists are always helpful. The rooms are well presented, always cleaned and air-conditioned aswell. The pool is amazing with enough sunbeds for everyone so no need to worry about Germans stealing them all. Also very clean. The bar staff and waiters were always very friendly and helpful, a special mention to Krystos and Andre for making us laugh so much. My biggest thank you goes to the Animation Team who do the best with what they have got. They obviously have to stick to a set routine and cater mainly to the Germans who are the main population in the hotel but they went out the way to include us in the evening and all the activities during the day. The Germans are pretty boring with these activities so it is usually an all English affair during the day with regards to football, volleyball etc. Zorbas is only 20 mins from Tingaki and i would suggest going there, especially Mascot where you will meet the friendliest and funnest bar staff on earth. Also kudos to Jason the rep who added to our experience. I would suggest this hotel to anyone.
Absolute Waste of money!

The hotel (ie. bricks and morter) was Beautiful, modern and clean. this is where the positives end. the rep was useless, and other Thomas Cook staff were rude and extremly unhelpful when i was ill. There were only 10 english in the large hotel, the rest being German. Upon arrival our fridge had a half eaten ice cream left from god knows when with- nothing else (even though we were all inclusive - Finesse). Other English guests had also witnessed German rooms being replenished with water daily. All entertainment day and night was spoken in german and so we were unabe to enjoy any of it. Food was of poor quality and aimed at German tastes. Im 21 and my partners 22, the Closest English guests to our age were our parents age (although they were lovely and the only thing that kept our sanity). After 4 days of hell and suffering severe panick attacks i decided id had enough, i called Thomas Cook Reps for assistant in tears, they laughed at me and didnt want to help at all. i Finally had to get a cab into town and find a travel agent that could sell me a flight home, which a paid £170 for. to be frank i would have given the world to get away from that place. im a student and my partner is self employed, we had saved hard for the holiday costing us £1200 with Thomas Cook, and feel we have been riped off !
missing Greece!

Hello! Just wanted to write a review about the Zorba's Beach Hotel as in the beginning of the year the reviews on here for the hotel weren't exactly brilliant. i went to Kos on the 25th of July and I had an absolutely brilliant time! The transfer from the airport was about 20 mins, the hotel is 5* quality and the beautiful floodlit and marble entrance certainly creates a brilliant impression for the hotel. I was slightly annoyed when at 5:30am we had to find our room in the dark on our own but the gentleman did explain he was the only one there and couldn't leave reception. The rooms are average size and basic (slightly disappointing when you see the hotel its self, but still more than average). You can hire the safe that's in your room for 15 euros i think i f i remember rightly. Admittedly a lot of the reviews do say how the Germans have control over the hotel and this is unfortunately correct. BUT, it depends on what you want out of a holiday if your going with kids i would be wary as the kids entertainers only speak broken english. But the entertainment in the day was fine, few english songs here and there. At night it got very tedious the same five songs and actions with the german children every evening. I did complain to my rep and as a result she organised english themed nights at a bar in Kos Town which i would recommend you go to called shananigans; a brilliant night. If your not planning on being in the hotel 24/7 like we weren't then this is a brilliant example of 5* holiday. The hotel and bedrooms are immaculate and the cleanliness of the staff cannot be faulted. the staff are brilliant and are at your side the moment you put an empty glass down. Same as with any all inclusive the food can become a little samey but for approx 15 euros you can go the taverna next door have two rounds of alcoholic drinks two toasted sanwiches chips or brilliant examples of greek food. It is a shame to eat all three meals in the hotel as the locals are very friendly and the food is brilliant. I forgot to mention the best part about this hotel, the beautiful beach that is literally across the road. Absolutely gorgeous. Hire a sunbed for 3 euros and if you sit on the blue and white sun beds the owner gives a discount on drink if you buy from him again. Especially worth a look is Tigaki centre 20 min walk or 5 euro taxi. i wouldn't advise car hire unles your used to driving in Greece. My partner and I have both driven in paris and this didn't scare us half as much as Kos did. We were given an automatic for a start and the greek people are used to driving fast around unbarriered drops, we are not and i soon opted for the healthier option of walking or taking the bus or taxi. Bus fare into Kos Town is 1.60 euro or 13 euro by taxi. Tigaki and Kos Town are both beautiful and worth multiple visits. I did speak to the Manager after a few days and he explained he had to go with the majority of his custom in the hotel ie the Germans. But he did explain that from the beginning of august it was more english focused as the hotel was more english guests by then. True enough the last few days we were there there were more english guests and more english activities. I would return to this hotel but perhaps only as half board there are too many brilliant and cheap restaurants to eat in to miss out. a beautiful island with friendly people, great entertainment and sandy white beaches. I want to go back - missing Kos already. Any further questions please ask away.. Leo
what!!! We don't know what your talking about

Me and my girlfriend have just arrived back from Kos, and stayed at the Zorbas Beach Hotel. We read the reports just before we left and felt slightly dissapointed, but this soon changed as we soon realised how wrong they are. The Zorbas beach hotel is a Family hotel and is really for the kids(hence why there is kids everywhere duh!) As stated in the hotel information which i could be bothered to read it tells you that the Hotel is mainly used by Northern Europeans such as French, German and Netherlands. However the majority of these do happen to be German but most of the German guests can speak good English and we had a great laugh with a few German families. The Entertainment is for the kids not for adults but it is funny in parts. The Animation team make every effort to speak the show in many languages I.E French, German and ENGLISH. However there where no English kids there when we stayed there so the Kids on stage spoke German and Dutch and a couple of other languages and probably haven't learnt English so it's a bit harsh to expect them to speak in it for a majority of unhappy Brits. Me and my girlfriend went there for the sun and also for a romantic get away and for that we really just need each other so we didn't just sit on our backsides in the hotel waiting for our holiday to happen, we made it happen and done loads of stuff. The hotel food was great, i'm really into my food and it was really nice trying some Greek food. There was two parts to the resaurant 1. which is self service and the 2nd which at night you had to book into for the Greek restaurant. When we stayed there it was always hot and it is always fresh. In the morning they spread out the choice of Continental, Full ENGLISH, and crepes ( which is french) with someone whose husband goes round hotels i would of thought he'd know this, i work for a large banking group and i do the same. This is also what most top Hotels do across Europe including London. They also served lunch which again you could make your self a sandwich or have something hot, and again at for dinner, there was a salad servery and a choice of hot food. As its really only a small Hotel they only have so much capability but there was 6 main dishes to choice from with then the choice of chips, rice and veg. For dessert there is always the choice of cakes, jelly and ice cream. This is where i got really confused, whilst i was there i had spaghetti bolognaise and always thought this was Italian, and i also had sweet and sour pork which was delicious and thought it was Asian. The Pizza that was there again Italian, Duck in plum sauce, pasta, lasagne, chilli - Mexican? these are just a few but thankyou ladyclaire for the re-education these are all German of course. Did i mention the Full English er i mean Full German Breakfast, ooh and the german Crepes. Just to let everyone know, there is no mini bar in the rooms, it is a fridge, mini bars look completely different and again thought this would of been picked up by your husband ladyclaire, is he a delivery driver delivering to hotels, doesn't actually stay in them. Its help yourself and all you can eat in the restaurant the staff couldn't do more for you and are friendly and polite. So you clearly do not know what you are talking about! The hotel itself is immaculate, it was refurbished 2 years ago, but is kept clean and well presented. All the staff are fantastic, polite friendly and have the fantastic skills of speaking 3 or 4 languages excluding their own language. I was confussed though lucky1984 i didn't see any pool staff at all, where was you looking. The rooms are just what you need, a bed, bathroom and a fridge to put your water in, and a couple of bottles of the local beer from the town. The rooms are tidied everyday and kept again well presented, the grounds of the hotel are the same. There is also some great scenic views at he hotel, out the front you have the beach, with islands and mountains on the horizon which is amazing when the sun sets behind them ( really romantic ) and the mountains over the back of the hotel. there are 2 pools to choose from and sit round, 1. near the bar and the 2nd near the beach so you can either go in the sea or the pool. On our arrival the hotel looked brilliant, it's close to the beach (20 yds) the only problem we had was the lock was broken on the back door, i reported this to reception and it was fixed within 5 minutes. The rep - Pam, whilst being new to the job, is a lovely girl, she is really helpful and will go out her way for you. The Thomas cook excursions are overpriced but as with every holiday company in any country you stay in, this is the case. Again most of you holiday makers will know this already especially those who travel alot. The reason for this is so the comapny and rep get commission. This however is Thomas cook though and not the hotel and again for all you intelligent people you'll understand this. There is a larger supermarket about a 5 minute walk away, Tigaki is about a 15 minute walk, and is worth it, there are some lovely restaurants and a few shops. We hired a Quad twice whilst we was there and it costs 35 euros a day which is really cheap and went to kos town which is roughly 5 miles away and went to a couple of other beaches. We didn't go on the volcano visit either, however the tour operators said it is 2 hours on the boat, 1 hour there and 1 hour back. We went on the 3 island tour, which if its windy, don't sit on the bow of the boats you'll get soaked but it's great fun doing, and we went to Turkey which again is good fun, the Turks do hassle you though to buy stuff but with a sturn telling "NO" get the message. However with any holiday, if you don't do anything, and don't explore where you are, not only are you really boring but your going to have a poor time no matter where you are. The Zorbas Beach Hotel was great for us, which was a romantic get away. We didn't go there for clubbing because it is the wrong area and a little intelligent research before hand revealed this. The hotel is great, so we recommend this for young families and couples.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Zorbas Beach in Tigaki Koz. The hotel itself is beautiful and on initial inspections we had high hopes for our stay. The rooms were modern and clean, with plenty of storage room. We had an enormous beautiful sea view terrace which was stunning. The staff were always very attentive and everywhere was imaculate. The downside for us at the hotel was the non existant entertainment, apart from the mini disco or bingo, which was soley for the use of the german holiday makers (about 95% of people staying there). The animation team made no effort to include the english children (of which there were a few as it was half term week) and on a number of occassions they appeared to be purpursly ignored! In addition, the kids club was only offered to the german children and no effort was made to attract the english children to their treasure hunts etc! The other downside to the hotel was the food. This was only ever warm, not hot and the choice was rather limited. We stayed for a week and ate out 5 times in the evening!! The hotel is also a good 15 to 20 minutes walk into Tigaki, although the little taverna next to the hotel did fab traditional greek food, so we didn't have to venture far!
not that great!
from lucky1984
brouchure stated evening entertainment - yeah i agree but only if you speak german!! talking of german that is all there were in this hotel we found out that KARDEMENA area was more british no clubs in this area just restruants thomas cook holiday rep was hopeless - pam my husband hates boats but wished to do the nissari volcano trip but pam said the boat trip was 2 hrs so we decided not to go, when the others returned we found that the trip was one hour!!! he could have coped with that thus missing the experiance. if you visit KOS take my advise on 2 things 1 - dont stay here 2 - dont pay the rep prices to go to turkey as you can doa day trip in 20 mins for 22 euros with the little travel agents on the road but thomas cost charge 45 euros and it took 1 1/2 hours nearly!! food - 3 out of 5 staff - pool staff was rude waitress in restraunt were fab so 3 / 5 clean rooms - 4 /5 hotel entertainment - 0 /5 unless you speak fluent german kids every where!!!!!!!!
slightly disappointing

Just returned from one week at the Zorbas Beach. Travelling with our 17 and 10 year old daughters. First impressions were very good, despite the 11/2 hr journey on a very hot coach from the airport to the hotel. Hotel foyer fairly impressive and reception staff very friendly with excellent English. We stayed in room 508 which was quite large and overlooked the main pool, (which was nice and clean, not huge but quite nice) Our 2 daughters had comfortable sofa beds in what we assumed was probably intended to be a lounge area, and we had a very large bedroom with a hard, but comfortable mattress. After our long journey and upon arrival in our room, the first thing we all wanted was a cold drink, and being an all inclusive were looking forward to sampling the local beer/fizzy pop and water. We were surprised to find the fridge was empty, considering we had booked all inclusive we assumed this must be a mistake. As the bar in the foyer was not open, we managed to get drinks at the pool bar and discovered that there was a choice of: Red Wine (chilled from a barrel), white wine, local beer and spirits and a small selection of soft drinks. We had our 'reps meeting' and were informed that the hotel do not stock the mini bar, despite this being an 'all inclusive' hotel. There was another English couple who had never tried all inclusive before and so were not expecting this anyway. The first thing we did after this was find the local shop (in the hotel) and stock up the mini bar - which was very cheap to do. After a bit of a swim and unpacking etc, we went for dinner - and this is where our biggest complaint occurs. The food was AWFUL. We have stayed in 2 all inclusives in the Carribean, and many half board hotels in several part of Spain, Italy and Europe, and quite frankly have never experienced food quite like it. My husband travels a great deal with his job and is quite used to hotel food. This was our first time in Greece ever and we initially put it down to our taste buds adjusting, but we ended up eating outside of the hotel 4 times in local restaurants and assure the hotel served untypically Greek or even English (not that we were looking for that) food. Unfortunately, as we discovered, it was typically German food with Greek ingredients. Not sure how many guests there were, but there were in total 6 English people in the whole hotel; the rest were all 'typically' German. One of my very best friends is German and I worked for a German company for 10 years, so I know what I'm talking about. Tingaki itself is pleasant enough, depending on what you want out of a holiday. We went for a week and if we hadn't hired a car and experienced the rest of the island and the Greek way of life the Zorbas Beach, whilst being a very nice hotel if you had no choice but to stay there, would have put us off ever going back to Greece. Tingaki, during the time we were there was a resort that catered for the Germans and the English were a side-line. The lady that hired us the car in the hotel was a life saver. Never did ask her her name, but she gave us some very good restaurant recommendations and she's lovely just to chat to and really appreciated being able to have a chinwag with a fellow 'Englishman'. She ditched St Neots for Greece some years ago. Leave her some of your books and magazine and she'll be your friend forever. Ask her about finding and feeding the wild peacocks (off the beaten track). If you have already booked for this, dont let us put you off. Make the most of the time you're there by budgetting for a car and a few meals out (car was 60 euros per day and it really is so cheap to eat out). Try Paridise Beach, it is beautiful and Kefalos have the friendliest and most welcoming people ever. (Dont order the Lobster Salad though unless you like a plateful of mayonnaise with yesterday's leftovers). We enjoyed Kos, but when we go back to Greece we will definitely get a villa or apartment. There are too many lovely restaurants and it is too cheap not to eat out somewhere different every night. In a nutshell, if you're not looking for a main holiday, but are wanting to grab a few days away, just to laze on a beach/around a pool and do nothing, you might as well be in Tingaki as anywhere. If however, like us, you enjoy making the most of your holiday and feeling as though you've really experienced a new way of life, including different foods/drinks and traditions, all inclusive at the Zorbas Beach is not the place to go.
We spent a week here in june 2011 and had the perfect break. the hotel was clean and rooms extremely comfortable with all facilities and working air con! The food suited us.Plenty of choice and better than most all inclusive deals we have been on. Loved the quieter swimming... more
