Zorbas Beach Hotel, Tingaki

Zorbas Beach Hotel Holiday Reviews
Zorbas Beach Hotel is an A class hotel situated in the town of Tigaki, just across the street from a shallow watered sandy beach. Tigaki lies just away from Kos town on the North part of the island. It is a long 10 km of white sand beach. The shallow waters make Tigaki ideal for kids and an easy place to swim and have fun with the waves. The hotel is a new, attractive and spacious unit consisting of several buildings and one main building decorated with a bright lobby and reception.

On arrival we were made to feel very welcome even though this was at 00.30 The hotel had reserved us food and drink. There were 16 in our party that then made the complete party one of 31 people
The rooms were very clean and well presented.
Although the first few meals were cold once we had mentioned this, it was soon rectified. If you prefer English food this may not be the place for you to eat.
The staff were very friendly and helpful
On the down side there was no adult entertainment, once the childrens disco had finished, apart from one night when it was a night of audience participation.
The hotel reception is spacious and comfy although if you travel with children please be aware of the glass coffee tables at low level with sharpe corners.
A torch is needed if you wish to walk into the village at night as there some areas with no lighting and no pavements.
The bus into Kos town is hourly cost 1.80 (e) though check out the return as they do stop running for a couple of hours at lunch.
The people in the local village are friendly and there is a choice of bars though at the time we holidayed many were and had closed for the season.
Although we found out that the Zorbas is a German orientated hotel. It was not full whilst we were there so we did not really notice this.
A Holiday is what you make it, The staff at the Zorbas help you to enjoy it.

the hotel is really nice clean and tidy. the entertainment is a load of rubbish its the same stuff for the kids every night the adults entertainment is just as bad. the food is pathetic is't all the same food every night always fish and chips on the menu food very salty every night. i've got a 2 kids on age 4 and one age 1 and my 4 yr old was aloud to go for kids meals at 6pm but my 1 yr old wasn't so my kids had to eat chips and rice for 2 weeks as the rest of the food was far to salty we ended up eatting out most nights. we hired a car as there is not very much to do in tingki for kids its just pubs and shops. some of kos is really nice. if your looking for a holiday just to sit by the pool and relax maybe but a big no no if you want to entertain your kids

I had a very enjoyable holiday. The hotel was clean and very well presented. The choice of food at mealtimes was extensive and catered for all tastes. All staff were very helpful and polite and our room was cleaned to perfection. The air con was provided at no extra charge and was a god-send.Beach towels were also provided which was a great help but wish we'd known about the service before we left! The beach is just across the road which. whilst convenient isnt't the best and you have about a 15 min walk to Tigaki itself if you want a larger beach with watersports. The only criticism from my point of view is the lack of evening entertainment. We ended up walking into Tigaki in the evenings (although there is a bus service) which meant having to pay for drinks in the local tavernas and losing out on the all-inclusive drinks in the evenings.Having said that, I will book to come here again next year!

Firstly I must say we had a fantastic holiday as 2 adults with a 16 and 14 year old boys, but have a couple of reservations. The hotel is very clean and modern, and our twin roomed accomodation was ideal. To try and be subjective and helpful to future guests find comments below.

GOOD

Rooms were large and very clean. Staff were very helpful particullarly in the restaurant. The food and service in the restaurant was always good, with plently of options.

BAD

When we arrived we were 4 of 10 british people at the hotel, and therefore the children in particular had no one talk to. The entertainment was totally geared to the German guests, and couldn't be understood by anyone else. The 'All Inclusive' bar closed at 11pm, and then drinks were very expensive.

Overall a great hotel clean hotel, but dont expect many other British, and late nights at the bar.

Zorbas beach is a very modern hotel. The staff are great, the accommodation is very good. The air con was a god send. The food was adequate, but i never went hungry. Our holiday at Zorbas was great and i would recommend it. The beach opposite is not the best beach ive ever been, but the pools at Zorbas are so good you don't need to walk the 10 yards to the beach that often. All in all... Great hotel.

I went on a working holiday to the Zorbas Beach, with two adults with learning disabilities we were told that there would be plenty for the ladys to do and great entertainment on a evening.Has the ladys we took love music and love to dance. It would have been nice if we all spoke German and understud everything that was going on.We could'nt join in any games that were been held through the day as they gave everything out in german.Really lets the place down.

Very disapointing stay at the Zorbas Beach.Glad we were only there for one week.

To top it all we didnt pick this hotel we were put there given only a weeks notice before we flew out as we were orginally staying at the Aqua Beach, with not much of an explantion.

Feel so let down, more for the ladys we took as that was there main holiday and looking forward to it.........

If you want a hotel with a wow factor, then I would highly recommend Zorbas Hotel.

From the moment me and my daughter arrived, the service and friendliness of the staff was first class.

The hotel is a very mixed international hotel, however majority of visitors and entertainment staff are German, however the positive side is this is probably why this hotel has such high standards.

The rooms although were basic, they had a superb bathroom with bath and shower spotlessly clean, air conditioning and TV (no English channels though).

My daughter at first was the only English girl in the kids club, but they went out of their way to include and make a fuss of her, she made lots of friends and came home after the holiday learning some German words and songs, she is four, and loved every single moment.

My only negative comment is that there was very little adult evening entertainment, and what there was obviously catered for German visitors, however my Rep said this was set for improvement in the future. and to be fair, there was a world cup on, and it never put a damper on holiday.

I absolutely loved this Hotel, and the food was out of this world with such a wide variety of choice and healthy options. Definitely no burger plan and chips here, if you are like me when I visit a country I want to try their foods, then you will love this and every day was a totally different menu.

If this is the kind of standard, service, and food you get from a non-English resort, then I am hooked.

Everyone seems to get round on bikes here, very European, it was LOVELY ,peaceful and beautiful not a lager lout in sight.

A very enjoyable holiday. Everything about this hotel and the staff were perfect.

Rooms very clean, towels changed frequently. Even beach towels were provided. The dining room had many different choices of food, and I think you would be very hard to please if you couldn’t find anything suitable to eat.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The beach was lovely as well and you only had to cross the road to reach it.

The toilets by the pool and in reception were always kept really clean as well. Someone frequently going in to keep them fresh.

I loved this holiday and really enjoyed it. There are a lot of Germans but I never found this to be a problem. Entertainment was mainly in German but everyone just joined in and all the kids seem to love it.

I will definitely be returning to this hotel, I love Tigaki and Greece.

I honestly couldn’t find anything that I didn’t like about this holiday and hotel. It was fab.

Beautiful hotel and lovely staff. I went with myself and my partner and 2 children.

The hotel was very clean the food was really nice the pool was huge and always clean.

There are a lot of German people but that wasn’t a problem my children still made friends and had a fab time.

The hotel has beautiful views at every angle you have the beach and views of Greece mainland you also have the mountains behind hotel.

It was paradise only down side was hotel bit of a trek from town, but only 5eruo for taxi. I will be going back.

If you want a family holiday with no stress and feel you’re in 5star accommodation this is the place.

We have just returned from our wonderful holiday at Zorbas Beach hotel.

The only issue that we had was that you had to pay for bottled water, which you are able to get at the mini market, and it was very cheap.

Lots of sunbeds available you were not allowed to get your sunbeds before 9am, which a lot of people respected. Hotel had quite a few Dutch and German guests but there were still quite a lot of English families and couples.

Food was excellent and catered for all nationalities. We had no issues with availability of food at any of the meal times. You were also allowed to have a lovely traditional meal which was served to you at your table.

Entertainment was aimed more at the children with regards to a nightly mini-disco and a weekly show that the children did.

We would definitely go back.

This is a fantastic hotel! We went with our 8 and 5 year old children and had a terrific time.

The family room we had was very spacious and included plenty of storage space as well.

The pools/pool areas were great and very well maintained and cleaned. Our children had lots of fun in the play park too. The lounge/reception was very spacious and with plenty of comfy sofas.

This was the first time we had gone all inclusive and were very pleased we did, the food was brilliant, with lots of choice and varied from day-to-day, apart from the staple pasta, chips, salad and English breakfast!! A wide variety of drinks were available too.

The staff we very pleasant and helpful!

The only downside was the hotel animation team, they were German, and quite often forget to translate into English (presumably, because the hotel guests are predominantly German), their English was not that good when they did translate, which did put my children off from participating in the activities, however, this would not put me off visiting this hotel again.

Tingaki is a small, quiet resort; the hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the resort centre, so it is a very relaxing holiday and probably not for those who require an action packed one? There are, however, regular buses running to Kos Town (approx 20mins) every day from right outside the hotel.

Oh, nearly forgot to mention the added bonus of fresh pool towels every other day are provided!

We travelled as a group of four adults and four children in Aug 2006 for one week. The hotel accommodation was generally very good and clean with air conditioned rooms and plain decor. Although we were told that is was necessary to put all used loo paper in the bin next to the loo as putting loo paper down the loo could cause blockages.

We had requested a cot for the little one and got a travel cot which is standard equip, the problem with that is they sleep the little one very close to the floor and are not very comfortable.

The hotel has two main pools which are kept in excellent condition. The only problem is you need to wake up at 7am or earlier to get a sun bed as they all get reserved by the German holiday makers even though there is a notice in reception forbidding reserving sun beds before 9am.

The hotel is 98% populated by Germans and the entertainment and food is German orientated too. The food - the standard was below average, being in an all inclusive for 6 nights we ended up eating out for 3 of those nights as the food selection was very disappointing. The food is served in a buffet style and often you need to get there early (6.30 - 7.00pm) to get the "better" selection. The food is designed all around the German palette. In regards to breakfast after the 2nd / 3rd day you will probably resort to bread and cakes instead of the full English, as the same selection is put out in the morning.

The children's food choice is non-existent e.g. no fish fingers, chicken nuggets, pizzas. The children ate chips and pasta most lunchtimes and evenings.

The Drinks - For the children they were extra sweet, for the adults when you asked for water you were either given fizzy water or tap water, bottled water was not inclusive. The alcohol was OK, the wine was drinkable although the red wine was chilled, every evening a cocktail was on offer (again always very sweet). Some of the basic brands were included in the all inclusive (vodka, gin etc) but quite a number of the drinks at the bar had to be paid for.

The entertainment - sometimes the animation team would forget to translate from German to English and often you felt isolated being the minority. The evening entertainment was below average and there was no local entertainment either.

Would I return to this hotel? Only if the food quality and selection improved significantly, the rule regarding reserving sun beds was enforced and the evening entertainment was more varied and geared to other nationalities other than the Germans.

We arrived in the early hours and were greeted with a serene beach front location and an opulent smart reception, uncharacteristic of Greek hotels previously experienced. We felt deserved at least four stars of its five rating.

Rooms were smart, spacious well equipped. Small fridge was useful but felt they could provide one bottle of water daily. Supermarket on site selling water. Bathroom contained shower and corner bath!

Food was good but no toaster at breakfast, afternoon coffee was always Luke warm and limited supply. Lobby area was comfortable to sit at night Animation team were German and very poor and no local dance or acts the whole week. The Hotel was dominated by German tourists. Two pools one by music and pool bar and quiet pool with beautiful sea view and plenty of loungers and parasols where we spent a lot of our time.

Hired bikes from just outside hotel and used daily, Kos very flat and easy to ride around scenic rural surroundings.

Tingaki small and only small souvenir shops and Tavernas.

We had a brilliant week at Zorbas beach and would certainly go back, we have never returned to a hotel before this holiday.
