4 Adults, two children aged 7 & 9.

Transfer: Last to be dropped off and first to be collected on the return. Took an hour, Airport clean, entertaining but expensive (3e for a small bottle of water).

Hotel: Very good English speaking receptionists. Good mixture of French, English, German, Dutch, Italian and Spanish. Great if you like to practice speaking to others in another language. Everyone seemed friendly enough and our children played with others all together regardless.

Rooms: Two pool-side rooms. Both had balcony's with "left hand" sea view. Balcony view was a bit untidy overlooking the tennis court and dried river bed. Rooms 3* basic, clean and well equipped. TV, hairdryer and ice cold fridge but no aircon and only basic cooking hob. Safe is available at a cost of apprx 40e plus 10e deposit. One room had a front window which we could open for a breeze, the other much larger room didn't but it was of to leave the front door open when you stayed in of an evening which we never did. Towels changed daily, bedding once a week. Excellent shower pressure, hot water all day and evening.

Pool: "Towel shift" started just before 8am. All sun beds had very comfortable PVC covered foam mats. There were enough to go round. It was just that we wanted our space just outside our rooms so the kids could go back when they wanted, still in our line of sight. One circular pool at 1.75m deep, a foot bridge then a larger pool. One end 1.75m the other to about 1.5m. Both children could stand up at this end. We had one day where the pool was closed because of chlorine levels but it wasn't a problem. Bar area served ice creams, prices between 1e 50c and 2e 80c.

Entertainment: In the bar area and by the pool most evenings plus during the day. Beer was 3e 30c. Belgium Entertainments organiser spoke at least 7 languages and his humour was very infectious. Would reco the place just because of him. Started with stretching at about 11am then went quiet during the afternoon as you would expect until about 3pm when he played water polo, "killer" darts, mini soccer etc. Even offered his own trips for sub aqua diving and quad biking at an additional cost.

Area: Turn right out of the hotel and you'll find a supermarket, English breakfast bar and an Italian pizza place. Breakfast was 4e for a full English. Walk another 250 yards and you hit 10 mainly fish restaurants in the local bay. No access to the beach. Very picturesque and prices to suit your budget whatever that may be. Turn left out of the hotel and walk towards Fanabe where all the main shops, bars and restaurants start and continue into Playa Pinta then into Playa USA. 40 minute walk with young children to Fanabe. 7e 50c for 6 of us using the 416 bus from outside the hotel or 7e per taxi. There are no child discounts but there is a travel card you can buy. Caleta beach was out of bounds when we went. Changing it from rocks to black sand. No construction noise heard whist at the hotel.

Prices much cheaper in Fanabe. Beer went down as low as 1e 20c for St Miguel namely in a Scottish bar called the Lock Ness where we ended up most nights before we went back to the hotel. Meals cost approx 6-10e for a main course wherever you went and most places offered a set menu. Plates were always full and we also had an Indian meal and a Chinese buffet during our stay. Again 6e 80c per person (Pig out time). Beach is clean, golden and good for the kids. Water isn't too rough because of the breakwaters further out. As I said it's about a 30 minute walk from the Jardin.

Overall: We will be back next year but will save money by staying more in Fanabe. Nothing wrong with the Jardin. Ideal for families but just a bit far out for us as we eat out every night.

Me and my partner are just back from jardin caleta, the apartments where lovely and a good size apart form the kitchen, how ever we where disapointed, as me and my partner was on a week away with out the kids we wanted to let are hair a bit but this is something you could not do at these apartments, the pool bar only served food for 1 hour per day aslo the poolbar cloeses at around 5 pm for drinks , there was nothing like shops and bars only 1 gift shop,2food resertaunts, a suppermarket and a english bar and the only one is cheap is the english bar and the owner steve is so friendly and funny, Taxis cost alot to get to places as this place is not as close to everything as the book says also this place is not for the younger couple and is a very spanish place everything that was done even the entertaiment was in spanich.

Me and my partner was sitting in are friends appartment one night having a chat no music just talking and we had the gaurd at the door.

Well i could sit here and go on and on about this So the last thing i am going to say is i will not be back at these apartments as i will be sticking to las americas from now on as we go there every year with the kids and have no faults

Went on holiday over the Christmas period and wished we had been able to stay for New Year as well.

Smooth check in at hotel. Staff friendly, helpful and discreet.

Good apartment - it was identical to the photos in the adverts. Small kitchen, but who wants to cook on holiday. We were on the top floor overlooking La Caleta.

No problem getting loungers by the pool at anytime.

Evening entertainment limited, but we didn't find it a problem.

Quiet area, but good transport links if you want nightlife.

The seafront promenade is a beautiful walk. Clean and well lit.

Food was good and varied. Christmas Day Gala Dinner was very good. As we were staying half board this was included in the cost of our holiday. Lots to choose from. Wine, soft drinks and champagne included. Ice sculptures on either side of the entrance to the main dining area. The staff had obviously put in a lot of effort. The evening finished with fireworks. Lovely.

We were hoping for a 'chill-out' holiday with beautiful weather and the chance to relax and do things at our own pace. That's exactly what we got. Would happily return.

The apartments were good size although small kitchen area which didn't matter to us as we were half board. The only downside was that we overlooked the pizza restaurant at the front which was very noisy late on a couple of nights. We were on same level as pool which was handy as could nip back for drinks etc.

All the staff were pleasant & helpful - couldn't fault any of them, they all worked hard. The food we found to be excellent - plenty choice every night and good quality - never got fed up. Ate at the pool bar once for lunch - very good & cheap.

The entertainment was a bit hit and miss - there was a mini disco every night which the kids really enjoyed. There was a snake show that was good, couple of OK singers and the usual bingo & quiz.

When we were there this was held at the pool bar - the main entertainment bar was closed maybe because the hotel wasn't full. The drinks at the bar aren't cheap - a little cheaper than UK so we just bought our own drinks across with apartment just being opposite the pool bar and nobody said anything - no signs to say you couldn't and others were doing the same.

First week we were there we couldn't get a sunbed even if we didn't go the the pool until after 4.00pm - the pool would only be a quarter full with people but all sunbeds would have a towel on!

One day we managed to get 1 between the 4 of us - there were four next to us that nobody came to for 4 hours and then one person sat on one of them for 10 minutes, then went away. The second week was fine as all the towel brigade must have left and there were no probs although on the last day when we were at the pool all day we noticed loungers with towels on them from 10.00 until 6.00 and nobody came and sat on them in all that time!

We booked trips with Direct Excursions - got leaflet at airport - English run and cheapest we found. Went to Loro Park - excellent whale & dolphin shows. Did a whales/dolphins boat trip which was cheap at 80E for 4 of us with lunch & drinks included.

You will see lots of leaflets for these with lovely looking catamaran boats - however with this trip it was a bit of a captain pugwash boat but don't let this put you off, we still had a great day - the blokes that ran the boat were a hoot, we got very close to whales/dolphins - amazing - then off for a swim near the Los Gigantes cliffs - absolutely stunning. They had life jackets for the kids and you could jump off the boat and swim with the fishes literally.

Lunch was good too - our kids said they enjoyed this trip more than Lora Park!

La Caleta itself is a small, quiet resort - mainly fish restaurants, a supermarket & gift shop below the apartments & a pizzeria. There is an English Pub-the Open Arms-but this was closed the whole time we were there. The man made beach across the road looks lovely with stunning views but no good for kids as very rocky.

We walked to El Duque beach at Coast Adeje along the coastal path which took 20 mins with kids - lovely sandy beach, beautiful sea, and views, not too overcrowded.

At night time we tended to stay at the apartments as not a lot else happening which was fine-if you prefer the livelier life then you could get to PLA by taxi/bus in 10 mins or walk in to Costa Adeje where more shops/restaurants.

Overall lovely relaxing holiday, good accommodation, beautiful scenery, not overcrowded, great weather.

We booked this hotel as we had been before in 2003. You will never need to put your towel on a sun bed as there are always plenty available.

The location is quiet which is why we returned. The bus stop for the tourist areas are right outside the hotel should you want to venture further.

There are several really good fish restaurants in La Caleta, and one bar where you will always get a friendly welcome. There is also a Chill out Beach across from the hotel for the younger element which is very popular on weekends.

The standard of the food in the hotel restaurant had sadly dropped considerably since our last visit and needs some improving.

Also the entertainment in the hotel is very poor. The cleaning staff do a very good job and the pool area is always very clean.

Overall, despite the food issues, we still like the hotel for its location and the staff, who were always friendly and helpful.
