Surprisingly Good!
Having read a Trip Advisor review about Hotel Villa Teca; one not so positive and finding most hotels booked during the winter break we were hesitatnt about staying at Hotel Villa Teca. Much to our surprise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were nice, clean, and pleasant. But what made our stay so enjoyable was not the indoors but the out of doors and the hospitality of the staff. One evening with a thunderstorm approaching a group of approximately 30 monkeys entered the property jumping from tree to tree right above the pool.... more
Spent a great week at this place
Spent six nights at this place, nicely tucked into the rain forest and near the ocean. All the rooms have apparently been recently refurbished. Mine was very clean and neat. Beautiful landscaping throughout. The food at the hotel dining area was wonderful. We caught a red snapper one morning and the kitchen staff prepared if for our dinner. Loved our stay and will return.
Dump, stayed in nice youth hostels
Stayed at the Villa Teca as part or an organized tour. We left after one night paying for an alternative hotel ourselves. The place is dilapidated and run down. The room smelt of disinfectant, probably an attempt to hide the smell of the mold. They were mildew stains on all the walls, water damaged ceiling. The room was small and pokey with two twin sized beds pushed together (uncomfortable). The bedding was old, worn and uninviting. The bathroom was disgusting such that neither one of us wanted to take a shower. There was no... more
A disapointing end to a great holiday destination
The Villa Teca is approx 100m off the main Qepos - Manuel Antonio road and well signposted. Although the Hotel Villa Teca has a good layout it is a little dilapidated to say the least! The whole of the site needs a major revamp. The rooms are very small - ours had a queen size bed and poky bathroom. The drapes and bed linens are faded and worn. The towels often come with staines or holes. The bathroom was over run with mites. There is no hairdryer or coffee machine nor mini-bar. We were staying as part of an organised tour and were very... more
Very quiet with nice gardens
We have stayed at Hotel Villa Teca twice our first stay in February 2005 was very enjoyable, however we returned in March 2006 and were disappointed. The hotel bar was closed each of the 4 evenings of our visit. The hotel is a long distance from the main road and when you return from dinner at 8:00 p.m. you want to sit around the pool or in the gardens relax and enjoy the evening. Without the bar open all guests must return to their rooms which are not spacious. There are no fridges in the rooms so you cannot serve your self. Also the... more
Excellent clean hotel
Only stayed one night but this was a lovely hotel with a selection of 2-unit casitas scattered down the hill. Our unit had a toucan wall mural and lots of squirrel monkeys outside in the morning. Good restaurant/bar setting. ONly negative - A/C only, no ceiling fans and no screens..so no fresh air at night.
Not worth the price paid
I didn't have a choice in accomodations because I travelled with a tour group, and unfortunately this is where we stayed. The previous review looks like it was written by someone from the hotel posing as a guest since the pictures look like the same ones off their website. Anyway, lets talk about what i got stuck with. The room is small. It only holds 2 people max capacity. As for room setup - this definitely ain't no Hilton. Who cares if the towels are folded nicely when you can see stains on them. The locks on the doors... more
Sewer line broke - The owner refused to deal with the problem
The following is a transcript of the incident written to my travel agent Laura Lazo of Tico Travel and the horrible experience I had at the Hotel Villa Teca: I am writing to confirm my conversation on 1/21/05 at 0830 with Mr. Thiou, the general manager of CentralAmerica.com for a full refund of my 2 room hotel stay at Hotel Villa Teca on Thursday 1/20/05. On Thursday 1/20/05, me and my group of friends were placed in rooms #37 and #38 at Hotel Villa Teca in Manuel Antonio. A sewer line break at... more
Guiet and Lush
Duplex style bungalows, not much privacy on the covered poirches. Air conditioned, clean, well maintained. Poor cross ventilation, you must use the air conditioner. Good restaurant over looking the pool. Beautiful landscaping with lots of stairs.
