My boyfriend and i have just returned...

"My boyfriend and i have just returned from holiday in Marmaris and i have to say Marmaris itself is great we loved it and will be going back next year..Grand Faros Hotel on the other hand was a total let down and we shall not be returning there again, we were told by our travel agent a 5 minute walk to the main strip...more like half an hour if not moreyes there are buses that run but they are so small and crammed you may not get on. the hotel was small with single beds which were cleaned daily, the food. well probably the worst food i have ever had we ate out for 5 nights out of seven, and what they dont tell you is that when you order extras they are putting it on a tab behind reception to charge you for when you leave so beware. the staff were friendly enough..some maybe too much.. they do have their own private part of the beach but everyone is pushing to get on the bus so sometimes its a waste of time. the hotel itself is on a land full of rubble and the views are awful.. couples in their 40's + kinda liked it because it wasnt in the town but next year i shall be staying nearer to the town. 4* more like 2-3* they should review their star ratings.we were not impressed at all!"

Fantastic holiday did not want to...

"Fantastic holiday did not want to come home . My daughter and I had 1 week at the hotel which was not long enough . From day one we had met guests and staff round the pool who were so friendly.Entertainment was good at night but the turkish night was the best. The staff work so hard all the time , food good ,pool very clean , room cleaned and towels changed daily . Also the pool area was changed throughout the day for breakfast & sun loungers and then cleared away and set up for the evening meal and entertainment . Looking forward to going back next year but for 2 weeks."

"hotel very nice but if you have difficulty with walking you may find it a bit far from the centre and beach, but on saying that the hotel does offer a bus shuttle service to take you into town or to their own private beach which is about a ten minute journey away or if you are active like ourselves it would take you about twenty minutes to walk.

the rooms are compact but there was three off us in room but for all the time you spend in it we did not find this a problem.sheets and towels changed daily .food in the hotel was first class plenty off choice although drinks were a bit expensive. pool area well maintained with quite a few sunbeds but be warned more sunbeds are put out after breakfast which finishes at ten by a maintance man who doesn,t like it if you put out your own bed before he has cleared things away.staff in general very nice although sometimes comunication an issue . there is a good supermarket just across the road from hotel called kippa which is a tesco.we used this most days for buying our drinks ,fruit, bread etc

"The hotel is small, granted, and a bit removed from the bustle of Marmaris, but we had a wonderful week there. Rooms are 'compact', but how much time do you spend in your room anyway? They were very clean, well-maintained, everything in the room worked [air-con, fridge, shower, etc] Food was wonderful, staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend it to anyone. And the Dalyan transfer on the last day is well worth it. We had an early morning flight home on the Saturday and were not looking forward to the 11 hours after check out, but - a trip to check into another hotel, boat trip, and meals and a shower before being picked up to go to airport 20 minutes away was a brainwave. The Turkish Guide on boat trip [Volkan ?] was amazingly knowledgeable and fascinating."

Stayed at the faros hotel in family...

"Stayed at the faros hotel in family room for five of us including three kids. Had a great time there. Had two rooms first night then changed to family room which was very spacious. Staff and all workers were very friendly and accommodating and were great with the kids. I had hoped the reception staff could understand and speak a little more english as it was at times a little difficult to make them understand, otherwise were great. The cleaning staff had better english whch surprised me.Kids loved the pool area, although not as big as it looks on picture. Food was great, good variety, drinks not included and a bit pricey compared to shop and supermarket accross the road which was very convenient. Entertainment was good, kids enjoyed it.Bus service just outside hotel was great. Was't impressed with Faros beach, felt like a load of sardines packed in a tin, not a lot of space for kids who love sea and sand. Loved where the hotel was out of the hustle and bustle of marmaris, unless you like that. Would have preferred a few more activities for kids i.e tennis and a bit more information on what was around. On the whole a great hotel to stay would go back there. P.S NEVER MET OUR AGENT NOT ONCE! WHERE IS HE?SHE?

"we couldnt expect any more..everything was enough to make us happy.staff, celaing, foods, every night different animations etc. we have been gone to marmaris since 1999 but after that we will not go to marmaris we will go to faros only :)

they do this job as very professional.the hotel is little bit far away from city centre but if u ask to me, it is advantage for guests because city centre too loud and also hotel offers u a suttle bus to city centre and to the their private beach...

thanks for faros hotel for everything and see you as soon as possible..

Just got back with my partner, the...

"Just got back with my partner, the staff are very friendly and helpful, but the hotel it's self has a lot to be desired, i choose this hotel as i stayed in the one in Istanbul and was plesantly impressed with the modern rooms and service. I've been to Marmaris many many times over the years and there our far better hotels to stay in, the 4 star rating needs to be re-reviewed. This is not to say it was all bad, The breakfast was a 5 out of 10, loads of different Turkish cheeses to choose from, but other then that, the usual European breakfast assortments. Lunch by the pool isn't bad, but don't expect anything special. We had dinner three times at the hotel, and this i would give a big thumbs up, something different every night, a huge salad bar and the price was good, about 15 YTL (£6.50) per person.

They have a gym which isn't to bad, but please if you want a Turkish Bath, get some prices outside first, but then we did get a message afterwards which added to the cost.

As I've been to Marmaris many times before, I know my way around, but for first timers I wounld'nt recommend this Hotel as its to far away from all the shops, bars and clubs, there is a bus service from the hotel but not quite sure how often it leaves as i rented a car while out there. the money you save booking with this hotel, you'll spend on Taxi's and bus services coming back to the hotel.

I also forgot to mention the worst part, the towels are so old they feel like sand paper, and have holes all over, nothing worse if like me you get a little sun burn. The fridge didn't work we did mention it to them, but I don't think they cared. Last year I stayed at Karacan beach hotel, which is on the beach, which i will be returning to next summer, which was so much better.

...And one last thing, if you do go on the boat trips out there, I really recommend the ORCA boat, the biggest boat in Marmaris which was so much fun, it goes to turtle beach and many other beachs around Marmaris which you must see.

me and my father stayed at this hotel...

"me and my father stayed at this hotel for a week and have just returnedd. There are soome good points about this hotel but also some bad points.

The rooms are clean and have towels and blankets changed daily. The rooms also have a tv, fridge, phone, and air conditioning. The bathrooms ussually only have shower units instead of a bathtub.

When booking this holiday we were told that this hotel is on the beach but that is absolute rubbish... it is about 1.5km from the beach so is about 15-20 minute walk depending on your speed. The pool area is good with many sunbeds and the evening entertainment is to a good standard. the entertainer hakan, is very friendly and he talks to everyone.. Every night there were different shows happening. One night they had a Turkish night followed by a fire show the next night.

One major flaw of the hotel is the staff at the front desk.. They find it hard to speak English. They are also very sloppy and they will take a lot of time in doing your work for you. If you order a wake up call they will send it later then you asked for.

Drinks at the hotel are very pricey.. It costs 1.90 lira for a coke when you can get a large botel of coke from the shop accross the road for 1 lira. If you are travveling to Turkey never travel with the tour company Yesil Dalyan. Their reps are the worst I have ever come accross. They dont tell you the correct information so they are a company to be aware of.

Overall it is a nice place to travel to where people are friendly and the sun is shining.

"We've spent a wonderful week at the Grand Faros Hotel... From all the places i've been around the world, it was defently the greatest... So friendly, kind stuff, willing to help about anything you need. The reception is open all day and night long, the rooms are kept clean day by day, the food is great and it was absolutly the best holiday ever and we are coming back this August again, and again to the Grand Faros Hotel!!!

Its a quite place, a short walk to the beach and the Bar Street, or just catch up the local bus services which stop exactly near the hotel, the turkish bath is just 5 min walking from the hotel, everything you need is just a walk away, it's not in the center but this is the plus, being in a quite enviroment souranded with mountains.

We have just returned from the Grand...

"We have just returned from the Grand Hotel Faros and what can I say? Very friendly and helpful staff, great buffet breakfast, and a very clean and well kept pool. There were plenty of sun loungers when we stayed there, and very efficient multi use of the pool side area for breakfast in the morning, loungers during the day, and tablets for evening meal and drinks in the evening. If any of you have read the comments about the Carlsberg factory being next door, don't let that put you off as it's no longer there. There is a brand new supermarket about 5 minutes walk away that's very handy: its called kipa (owned by Tesco). The walk into town is not too bad but at the end of the day, there is always the dolmus that stops directly outside the hotel that takes you at the cost of 2 lira or 85p. The evening meals were very good and very cheap and lots of it. We enjoyed our stay there as it was not in the centre of Marmaris but like I said easy enough to get to if you wanted to for nights out. We would recommend visiting a restaurant called Neighbours in the Harbour area for excellent Turkish food. Also, a visit to the Taj Mahal for excellent value Indian food. If you fancy a more hectic night, then the bars on Bar Street, but the prices of drinks are more than they are elsewhere in Marmaris. We would recommend anyone to book a holiday to the Grand Faros Hotel in Maramaris."
