Grand Faros hotel, the place i now call my second home. The people who work in the hotel are so kind, i miss them all so much. Kenny (Doga) is the best entertainer you will ever find. I came home a few days ago and now i really want to go back. The rooms there are always cleaned and you can trust their cleaners too. It's just amazing!
- Advice: its the perfect holiday.

Not going to blabber on, just going to tell you straight - i and my partner had an enjoyable stay at the Grand Faros, went in summer 09, for 1 week.
Weather was great, rooms were clean, no insects, clean bathroom, comfortable, air con that actually works very well.
If your looking for a top hotel but want to pay a cheap price, this one is for you. I will be going back there next year.
Before we went we were worried about the accomodation, as you do, but on arrival we were impressed. Ok breakfast isnt very good, but its never going to be what you want abroad.
I would strongly recommend going BnB. A couple taking to us said the hotel was good but that they regret going full board as the evening meals were the same all week and not very nice.
Hotel probably not for people with disabilities or who find walking up an incline difficult.
Takes 15mins to walk to the beach and down town around 20, but keeps you fit i guess. Buses come and go all the time. Boat trips are cheap, and be sure to get a turkish bath when your there.
Turkey is relatively cheap, u get wat you pay for, but you get harassed alot to come into restaurants and shops. Dont feel sorry for the guy harrassing you and eat at his place - go where looks good and busy.
Enough said i think, go for it, youll enjoy it.
- Advice: you will love it, its cheap but good at the same time

me my mum and dad stayed at the grand faros hotel for 2 weeks (18th sept-3rd oct) the hotel was very clean and the food was really nice although it wasnt always warm in the morning for breakfast, beans was always cold. there also wasnt much option but there was always something on the menu that we could eat. all the staff was very friendly and bar staff at night would always come over and have a chat with you to see how your holiday was going, although the manager didnt like this as his staff was there to work and only work, he never smiled and came across very rude to his staff members. this did not effect our holiday or stay at the hotel has all staff just ignored him and carried on entertaining guest. which was funny. we tended to stay at the hotel at night as they had a different show on every night at 9pm till about half 9 10. all the shows was very good but after a week they started to repeat but some was that good you would want to watch them again. its a 20mins walk into the town centre or there is a public bus that cost 1.25tl each way each person which stops outside the hotel or a taxi cost about 12tl but is double fair after midnight. the town centre was very busy and buzzing nightlife. theres a main strip of bars on the beach front that was a little bit like blackpool with the sun but a little better than blackpool. there was a lot of nice bars at the otherside of the beach at the harbor side that was a little quieter that was much nicer.
the rooms are very very small in the hotel when we got there there was 1 double and 1 single and no room for the suit cases so we ended up paying extra and moving into a family room which was twice the size and was much better. the maids came everyday making the beds and putting clean fresh tawols in the bathroom. there was a mini bar in the room the drinks wasnt the cheapest but you wasnt aloud to take any food or drink into the hotel from outside the hotel otherwise you would of been charged.
if i ever went back to turkey i would stay at this hotel again as all staff bar manager are very friendly. and it wa a very clean place.
- Advice: very buzzing nightlife
- Activities: trip to rhodes and last day daylan excurstion

Me and my wife (mid 20's) stayed at the Grand Faros Hotel in the fist two weeks of September and thoroughly enjoyed it. We booked it last minute and can’t complain at all!!
Location:
The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk to the town centre and 15-20 minute walk from the beach front. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus to the town centre and to the beach front at 21:30 with a return trip at 00:30. We were dropped of most nights at the beach front and tried as many different restaurants and bars as possible. We would recommend the restaurant which is situated over looking the sea on a wooden platform (sorry hard to describe) and Natalie's steak house is one not to miss - you will not finish your dinner! We found Marmaris quite reasonable with beers costing approx 5 lira which is about ₤2.20 and food about ₤20 for both of us.
Hotel and its facilities:
The hotel is cleaned continuously through the day, the pool is always spotless and the maids clean your room and provide fresh towels everyday. The hotel has a gym which seemed nice, a sauna, and Turkish bath and massage rooms. The hotel has two bars one pool and one lounge bar. 24 hour reception and as mentioned previously shuttle bus (this also takes people to the beach in the morning if they want to or the market). We found our room (double) was slightly on the small side as we were on the top floor and were in the roof, we found it fine once we got use to it though!
Food and Drinks:
We were B&B and only made it down to breakfast about five times during our stay and it was OK. They made fresh omelets and there was always fresh bread. It was OK but I have had better. The pool bar snack menu was good; they had baguettes, burger kebabs chips and full English if you wanted. Beer was five lira and they have a happy hour between 22:30 & 23:30 where all drinks are half price. They have a great list of cocktails but cost 9 lira (about ₤4) but were great at half price. We had an evening meal a handful of times during our stay and found it nice every time (it only cost 10 lira each so a bargain for ₤4 each). You helped yourself to starters and then the mains had chefs as well as help yourself. It was chicken and kebabs most nights - some guests who were half board grumbled that it was the near enough the same food every night. I suggested they went out for the night and ate elsewhere for a change. Typical brits abroad they just wanted a good moan!!
Staff and Entertainment:
All the staff was great throughout our stay, we hardly tipped (until the last night) and they were still so friendly and treated us well. A man called Ali came to the hotel everyday and arranged competitions (normally darts, pool and table tennis) but everyone had fun and it gets the guests talking to each other!! The evening entertainment was the same both weeks but they had some really good acts including Michael Jackson tribute, Turkish dancing and break dancing show to name a few. When we stayed at the hotel we found the entertainment great!!
Summary:
Me and my wife enjoyed this holiday so much, we never go the same place twice but would recommend this hotel to friends. We suggest the hotel is mainly suited to couples as there isn't much for the kids to do. We would recommend the buggy safari, the water park in the mountains and go and see the turtles!! We can’t complain about anything so well done Grand Faros the staff have done you proud.

Stayed at the Grand Faros Hotel for two weeks and have just returned 3 days ago.
I travelled with my friend and we loved every minute of our stay even during the freak 1 and 1/2 days of very bad rain the hotel staff were friendly and happy. The bar staff and reception staff all spoke very good english and went out of their way to help and chat.
The rooms were cleaned every day and the beds changed 4 or 5 times during the two weeks.
We found the free shuttle service very handy especially to the beach when the restaurant called them and the bus came 2 and half hours early for us due to the rain. Even the shuttle driver was lovely.
We had a Turkish bath at the hotel which was reasonably priced and the man was very friendly.
Happy hour everynight at the bar 10.30-11.30 with every drink half price was great and the free entertainment was really good.
The hotel is situated in a quiet area of Marmaris with easy access to the busier areas.
Loved everything about the holiday so much i am booking again tomorrow for next year at the Grand Faros.
- Advice: lovely place, people and hotel

I am 20 years old and me and two friends stayed in the grand faros hotel in july and had a ball. The hotel itself was gorgeous. We got fresh towels everyday and the hotel was very clean.
The staff were brilliant and went out of their way to help. The manager was extremly down to earth and willing to help with anything. The bar staff were very friendly and the waiters and pool staff were very efficient; from finding sun beds for all, to bringing your drinks down to you. Even at the hotels busiest the staff were always friendly.
Every night there was some form of entertainment and the enterntainment staff themselves went out of their way to get to know the guests and make everyone feel more than welcome.
The food was strange at first, but very nice and something different was offered every night for dinner. There was always a variety and no one could say they went hungry.
The hotel is situated quite out of the way of the main town, however; the nihgt life in turkey is fantasic and so anyone wanting sleep, this hotel is perfect for, as many other accomdations are located right beside the clubs and bars. It is only a short taxi journey into the main town which is a very reasonable price and the reception staff at the hotel call a taxi at your request.
There is also a large super market just across from the hotel which is very helpful!
overall i had an excellent holiday and will diffinatly be going to Turkey next year, and ofcourse staying at the grand faros!

Myself and my partner have just returned from 1 week in Marmaris and stayed at the Grand Faros hotel, and i must say we found it very accomadating. The rooms were very clean and the cleaner sprinkled flower petals all over the bed after cleaning the room. The entertainment was very good and this was down to a very confident and entertaining guy called Hakas, who made us all laugh and was always full of positive praise for everyone at the resort. The only thing i could suggest was for them to open a shop during the day as the drinks were a little over priced compared to the shop prices[eg 2 lira for water and 20 cents at the shop down the road]The food was satisfactory and had a wide range of salads, meats ,cheeses and deserts. The rooms were all equiped with air conditioning and was found to be bliss on a night time when temps reached the mid 30s.I personally would recomend the hotel to anyone.

just returned from my 3rd stay at the grand faros and i have to say it gets better each time!!
the rooms are very clean and tidy, the food is brilliant with lots of choice and the staff will do whatever they can to make sure you have a great time.
we all know you get what you pay for but for the price, its unbeatable.only a five min bus ride from center of marmaris.they also have wifi which is free.dont charge for the air con either.
there is a alrge supermarket called kipa (part of tesco) around the back which is really handy.how ever be careful as they dont like you bringing in your own food.i nsuppose if your discreet, its ok.ive done it everytime.
dont book your excursions through the hotel.use some one in toen and bartter like hell.
i always use unimar travel opp burger king in town.speak to mustafa.great guy, will look after you.
well, thats abot it really, have a great holiday

2 Weeks of gorgeous hot sunshine. Hotel was great, staff were very friendly and got on well with the kids. We had a family room, which was spacious, with two balconies, and a mini fridge. Couldn't bring your own food into the hotel as this would have been charged to your room, which was a bit of a pain when you have fussy kids!!! Breakfast/Evening Meal food was ok but obviously lot of turkish food, and if you have fussy kids like I do then it can be annoying when they won't eat or even try anything. Snack Bar in the day was good, normal stuff i.e. nuggets/chips, bacon butties etc, prices not bad either. There was a FREE mini bus into marmaris town centre/beach at 10am daily, which picked you up at about 6pm. Also mini bus ran at 9pm til 12.30pm each night. If you don't want to stay in the town centre/beach that long, there was also a Number 4 bus (blue) which ran every 10 mins from the hotel to town, for 1 lire each. My kids loved the hotel, the staff were great and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Great Entertainer and DJ too. Would definately go back to the same hotel. Beach was very stoney and black, also didn't pay for the sunbeds, but had to eat/drink from their restaurant, which can be expensive if you have three kids like i did!!!!
- Advice: Can walk into town would take 20 mins but buses do go every 10 mins
- Activities: BurgerKing and Macdonalds in the town centre, great if fussy kids !!!

I have just returned from a 1 week stay in Grand Faros. The hotel was everything me and my boyfriend were looking for. We had a lovely room and this overlooked the pool. The food was lovely. We went on a b and b basis as we didnt know what to expect. Now wished i did half board as the food in the evening was gorgeous. The staff were so friendly and work all the hours god sends and could not do enough. Turgat on reception was a real credit to the hotel.
The only mini problem was the minibar charges for drinks and the rule that you could not bring in any food/drink from the outside.
Many Thanks for making my holiday a memorable one.

We stayed at the Grand Faros for 2 weeks, I have to be honest and say that they were two of the worst weeks of our lives. I will try and be thorough and fair though. We go on holiday to relax, not too listen to agadoo played at ear splitting volumes day and night, which is what we got!
The rooms were very small, but they were clean. The bathrooms were very basic but again clean. There is no restaurant area as such as they use the pool area, however if there is any rain they cram people into the foyer, which in 35 degree heat is unbearable. There is no lounge area, not even a comfortable bar inside. The pool bar is a barely concealed death trap, the floor being very slippery from suntan lotion used, I myself slid over, only stopped by grabbing a chair. 1 man slipped around the pool and cracked his head open very badly and was not seen again.
The pool, small and you'd better be prepared to put your towel down at 7.30am on a sunbed that has had the same cover on for at least 2 years of sweat, suntan lotion and god knows what else. The prices are the same as the uk, in fact you can buy Efes the Turkish beer cheaper in the uk! So don't go to Turkey thinking its cheap. Its NOT! The food in Marmaris is terrible, with fun pubs and cheesy bars galore. You will get hassled all the time! Ceasar by the Marina was a great restaurant with the best prices in town and no one dragging you into it. Otherwise your"fillet" steak could be camel!
So a word to the wise, do not stay at the Grand Faros it is only a 2 - 3 star hotel, definitely not a 4 star as we were told, the prices are very expensive in the hotel, The music was very loud around the pool. The entertainment was a joke, 20 - 30 minutes of a very bad dance act or some poor girl trying to belly dance. They charge you to pay bingo even though its supposed to be evening entertainment. They did NOT have a regular free bus into town, you had to use a local bus"Dolmus", the hotel did NOT have a bus to their place in Ichmeler. Everything about the hotel is designed to extract money, oh and be prepared to not sleep as the air conditioning units are situated next to your balcony door and sound like jet engines all night!
Jewel In The Crown was a terrible company to go with as they try to sell you very overpriced excursions and when you don't they ignore you. The rep was worse than useless unless you were giving him money. Monarch Airlines were a joke, delays going out and coming back, and using very old boeing 757's with people crammed in like sardines and a microwave shepherds pie as your meal. Quality...
So all in all Turkey not great, nasty fake goods thrust in your hands as you pass the shops or go into a bazaar, none of good quality, Gold and silver more expensive than the UK, Hotel Grand Faros a bitter disappointment, Marmaris, like Blackpool without any class at all. Stay home get a pizza and a dvd instead... or try Greece!

Just got back from this hotel and i was glad to leave quite frankly. The restrictions are ridiculous (no food or drink on the premises that have not been bought there) which was very difficult with the kids.
The breakfast was appauling although the evening meals were nice. There was no entertainment and some of the staff were not very friendly. Watch out!!! Nothing is like it says on their advertising.
The surrounding area is waste ground and its a long way to the beach.
