I've just returned from a week at the Planos Bay Apartments. Thank god we only booked a week. The room was clean but the bathroom was in a bit of a state. Shower curtain was mouldy, the towel rail fell off the wall and there was no hook for the shower head, you had to hold it up in one hand and wash with the other.
I can see why it appeals to families with older children because thay soon make friends with other teenagers and then run riot. How people with younger children like this is beyond me. In the evening, the pool side bar plays music so loud that you can't hear you television in your room until midnight. After midnight the music is turned down a little, but then you can hear the teenagers kicking footballs very hard at just about anything and shouting and swearing. The parents are drunk by this time and don't care what their little darlings are up to.
Tsilivi itself is quite a nice resort. I would recommend taking a 10 minute walk to the beach around the coast from the Hotel because trying to swin in the Swimming pool is impossable. Teenager dive bombing and throwing things is the order of the day.
In short, If you live on a run down Council estate in Britain then you will fell very much at home at the Planos Bay. Even the Reps and the Hotel staff (apart from the maids) are Chavs aswell.

Just got back from two weeks at the Planos Bay Apts, best holiday we have had for years!! The greeks are so friendly compared to Spanish !! The apts are clean but basic, the maids are great!! The pools is one of the best i have seen,if you want a front row sunbed you will need to be up early though! My kids are 13 and 11,they loved the kids clubs,Alice (kids rep) stood out for them, but the reps were all very good !
Supermarkets are expensive,if you want English food, but lets be fair you are in Greece so try the local stuff.Eating out,try the Village Taverna right next door to the apartments, food is excellent, also Romeo and Juliets for Pasta/Pizza.
Giorgios was ok,but if you want a great location and food pop into the Red Apple bar and have a chat with the owner Spiro's,his friend owns a restaurant which overlooks the whole bay from up in the mountains,a view to die for! If you pop in have drink with Spiros he will call the restaurant and they come and pick you up and will drop you back at the apartments !
Dont buy ice creams at the poolside bar, they are all 50p each cheaper in the Supermkt at reception, over two weeks it adds up,same with soft drinks!
It's certainly not cheap any more but i dont think anywhere in the Euro is !!
To summarise , everyone wants to rebook for next year !!!

My family & I (two adults, 11 & 14 year old) have just returned from a really great holiday in Planos Bay, Tsilivi. The apts were basic but very clean and well equipped. The pool was busy but you could always get a sun lounger if you were up early enough! The location is great - five minutes walk from the local beach and less than 15 mins from the main beach which was beautiful! Well worth going for the day and paying 3 euros for a sunbed. Great facilities such as snack bars, toilets etc. Great too for water activities! We enjoyed the entertainment in Kaliva and Friends and our fav places to eat were Giorgios, Zeus, Stamnes and a lovely restaurant near Tsilivi beach overlooking the bay! Also did the island cruise - a long day but worthwhile and the waterpark is well worth a visit! Booked these trips through the local agents as it was far better value than going through the reps. Would also recommend bringing your own cereals, tea, coffee & whatever else you can manage as they are expensive to buy there. Overall a fab holiday and we would love to return to Zakynthos some day!

This was the 1st family holiday that we had been on with our 4 year old son, and we were a bit nervous to tell you the truth!
These apartments were absolutely brilliant though, we need not have worried.
The rooms were big enough and our son was in with us so we felt safe. They were cleaned daily and they staff are so friendly.
The food was OK, although to be honest we enjoyed trying the local Greek cuising so we didn't really eat in the apartments. My greek went down well with the locals too, even though I had only been learning for 4 months, it certainly seemed to make a diiference!
The Kids Club Reps - well I cannot say enough about them. They are fantastic! They are really good with the kids, and they are in a safe environment. We didn't want to leave owen at first, but he had so much fun, he was begging to go back every day!
All in all, a fab holiday and we can't wait to visit again next year!
Thank you Planos Bay Apartments!

Some of the reveiws on here don't match up to my experience!
I am going back in2 days time and looking forward to it. the accomadation is truly greek. it is not as advanced as spanish but it ok. This is a great family place. It is surrounded by friendly staff and great restraunts. The beach is close by. A must do is the levante speedboat trip by captain spiros.
The hotel itself is lovely, the maids keep the place clean
Sometimes there can be a smell from the drains but its not unbearable and only occaisonally wil you smell it
overall a must do trip
best holiday ever

Just returned from Tsillivi and would definetly go back again. We has an issue when we arrived of being allocated the wrong apartments (Planos Apartments) which is across the road. I would check before you depart to make sure this doesn't happen to you. Couldn't fault the Planos Bay apartments and facilities. The Hotel staff were fanstasic as were the First Choice reps. The Kids club staff were incredible, so much my 10 yr old couldnt wait to go to it every day. Awesome Alice, Rockin Ryan and Electric Emma were our favs.
The bars and restarants around the area were very good. Only had one bad experience of a not so nice meal. Must try Giorgios Restaurant and Romeio & Juliets which was fanstasic food. Friends Bar just a 2 min walk from Planos Bay has a great atmosphere as well as the crazy Yanis.
Will def come back next year.

just returned from planos bay tsilivi thought this place was very expensive due to our exchange rate. if you are travelling with kids i would recommend you to take as much food with you as possible 5 euros for cereal 2,20 euros for bread 3 euros for sugar 5 euros for a pint of magners 3 euros for 40 teabags 12.50 for a pack of 22 nappies, i have never spent so much money on holiday, rooms are very basic, we were plagued by ants in our beds on the work surface, in the wardrobes, due to this i felt it wasnt clean enough for me to prepare food there, the maids sprayed them daily but each day they returned. the pool area was very clean though, the resort is a very nice relaxing holiday, the beach was very disappointing sea urchins in the water, the main beach isnt much better either we were asked to leave as i didnt want to pay 3 euros for each sunbed as i was only stopping half an hour, the greek woman told me we couldnt sit on the sand near her beds, so we left and never went back. i would however recommend popeyes to eat it was very nice food, also taj mahal indian restaurant was very nice tasty curry. great place to entertain the kids was bowl m over for 7.50 euros you got a free soft drink or beer a game of ten pin bowling plus a game of pool and a game of crazy golf, what a bargin as the drinks would cost you 2 euro each, the place was the cleaniest place i have seen on the island. zante town was a let down not much to do shopping wasnt that good either dont waste you money going. lagana is just for young people drinking wouldnt take my kids there at night and nothing to do in the day. kaliva bar was very good in tsilivi brilliant play area for the kids that was free. i wouldnt go to the fish and chip place either we went as the kids were playing up for some, the fish was grey and had a very strange taste my 2 year old refused to eat the fish fingers the chips were frozen and the peas taste like they were tinned. the kids reps though i have to say were excellent best thompson reps i have met yet in over 10 years (well done guys). the air conditioning costs 5 euros a night so soon adds up if you are there for 10 to 14 nights. also get bothered a lot by men selling copied films dont show any interest or you will never get a break from them they must approach you at least 4 times a day. lastly if you need the supermarket go down to the 1 near the closed down mcdonalds its the cheapest, believe me with 3 kids by the end of my holiday i was watching what i spent.

we have just returned from the planos bay and all we can say is that its the best holiday we have ever had . we were a family of 4 adults and 2 children age 2 and 7 .... first choice reps were good with disco, pool is very clean and there is enough space ....we have to say a big thankyou to liam the entertainment organiser for making our holiday. he was very welcoming and got everyone involved, he did quiz night, kareoke, and theme nights. very good at his job. he organised football games, volleyball and table tennis so we were never bored . all the hotel workers were very polite and helpful. we met plenty of friends . main beach lovely, great for kids . we will definately be returning to planos bay . excellent facilities

We have just returned from the planos bay apartments and we had a great time!!! We were self catering and the room was well equiped if you want to cook, not that we did. We had a toaster, kettle, microwave, fridge with small freezer, sandwich toaster.lots of cooking utensils, and tv.We used the toaster everyday and the fridge. Our room we had was huge there was two of us and there was a room with a double bed and another room with two singles. Our balcony like most was very big overlooking the pool. The room also had two large ceiling fans which were fab and we could keep the door open at night on the balcony as the shutter had a lock on it so we could let in fresh air and still be secure. It was great we didnt have to pay for air conditioning as the fans did the trick as the euro is quite bad at the moment paying for extras like this put you off going again as airconditioning is far to expensive.so these little extras would make us return again.
I noticed there were a lot of familys on a budget buying from the hotel shop instead of the bar and eating and drinking around the pool. There is a sign up not to do this but to be honest the hotel was very good and didnt seem to be telling anyone off as once again I think they realised times are hard and people will return here again because they can holiday with a family on a budget better instead of not going abroad. Great hotel and friendly and clean.

We visited Planos Bay the first two weeks of October. We are fortunate I believe to have pre-school children although that will change next year. Planos Bay out of season I cannot fault. There is a great atmosphere daytime with many families with young children generally in the baby to ten year old category. The apartments are generally quiet and you can take your choice from the sunbeds at any time during the day.
We barely saw the reps but that was our choice as we simply wanted to relax. The kids club and creche ( similar to kids club for our two year old but with a fee) were fantastic giving us a break for an hour or two during the day whilst our kids loved it.
The nightime entertainment needs sorting desperately. There was often a kids disco at 8 which our toddlers loved but at 8 45 it came to an end and the entertainment stopped until 10 by which time most of us had taken our kids to bed so they simply cancelled through lack of interest. If our kids were still fresh we simply crossed the road to 'One for the road' which had a great play area and we could have a coffee or someting stronger.
The apartments provide all you need for a simple self catering apartment and I would struggle to fault them.
The pool at this time of the year is freezing and whilst the ten year olds do not seem to mind the adults were a different matter. Mind you unless pools are heated I believe it is the same wherever you go.
Shop around for restaurants as the prices do vary considerably. Go off the main road for value and quality.
The weather for the time of year was fantastic with a few spots of rain but mainly glorious sunshine and a very pleasant temperature.
Not the prettiest resort and far from the best beach but all in all we had a cracking holiday.

Just returned from a brilliant holiday at the Planos Bay Apartments. The rooms, although basic, are clean. The kitchen has a two ring cooker, and microwave with a grill and fridge freezer. The pools are also very clean, and my three year old loved the children's pool. Best to go at this time of year if you don't want it to be too busy, didn't hear much noise at all from the disco in the evening. The weather was still hot although did have a couple of days of rain. The baths are small and not easy to have a shower in, but it's not like you go on holiday to spend your time in the bathroom. Our toilet did stop working and as soon as we reported it within the hour someone had come and fixed it. We did find that the shop at the hotel did sell sachets of coffee so if you don't drink that much and fancy the odd coffee it is cheaper at just 10c per sachet.Same with the jam.The tv only had a couple of channels in English but my three year old was happy to watch cartoons in Greek !! Who goes on holiday to watch tv anyway?!The beach was very clean and you are charged 6euros for two sunbeds for the day. A lovely walk along the beach, you will see the Alexandra hotel, which sells lovely food where you can sit and look out to see, also the Boomerang is another nice place to sit with a drink. We also ate at Stamnes - but better for an evening meal, the burgers in the day where not so nice!! The cleaners came in every day and where lovely. All in all a brilliant holiday, spoilt for choice as to where to eat and drink, but if you don't want it to be too noisy go out of season, otherwise expect it to be busy and noisy during main season as it is a lively place.
