My husband and I are just back from this hotel. We stayed here 3 years ago and could not fault it. This time however the food was horrible. There was very little choice and what there was, was tasteless and overcooked. I would only give it a 2 star rating. Also there were lots of flies in the dining room. We ended up eating out, as we could not face going down to dinner. Otherwise the hotel is very clean. It sits next to the beach and the rooms are definitely 4 star. The reception staff were lovely, as were the restaurant and bar staff. The entertainment left a lot to be desired. Karaoke and bingo. The parrots were good but only on for half an hour. Palma Nova is a lovely resort. We have been here 6 times, but will not be back to the Comodora. If it is good all inclusive food you are after, this is not the hotel for you, definitely not worth the money.

Definitely the best hotel around, right on the beach. Go all inclusive and you will have the best holiday ever. There was a mixture of age groups at the hotel and the staff and generally speaking most of the guests were very friendly. Made lots of new friends both old and young. Top quality venue!
We were worried about going because we booked last min, but we were so happy in the end! Oh, it is probably not the sort of place to stay at if you don't like big measures of alcohol, cos they do not restrict the amount of measures they give you in your drink (unless you ask of course). 10/10 without a doubt x

This was one of the most expensive holidays I've been on but was determined to treat myself to 4* as this was a break from caring from my disabled son. I was extremely disappointed. There is no way this hotel or anything about it is 4* apart from the view from the room. It was more like a 3* bordering on a 2*. The food was ok but not very imaginative and it was always cold!
The snacks included in the all inclusive were not served anywhere near the pool or bar. You had to walk over to the dining room (where you were not allowed to wear beach wear, so you had to get dressed) to be greeted by cold beans, cold chips, cold burgers and a toaster. We missed the all inclusive dinner when we arrived but the staff were happy to tell us that our dinners had been saved. The dinner consisted of lettuce, tomato, a slice of cheese, a slice of ham and a lump of bread.
The pool is in the shade for the majority of the day so it is never warm enough to swim in and if you want to sit in the sun then you had to go to the beach. That meant that unless you were prepared to walk back to the hotel for the all inclusive drinks then you had to buy your drinks there. They charge you for the remote control for the TV in your room and there is only satellite in the lounge which you have to share with anyone who comes along.
We had to move rooms as the air conditioning unit leaked all over the floor and into an electric cupboard. We had no help with this and were then moved to a room that had ants in the bath. The cleaning of the room was about as good as my 13 year olds idea of cleaning and one day they didn't even bother and I had to go to reception for clean towels. The day entertainment in non existent. The girl employed to arrange the entertainment sat with some family that were visiting her for the whole of the week. The evening entertainment consisted of a bingo night, a quiz and some strange old man singing in Spanish. We had to go out every night to find our own entertainment and to sit somewhere that wasn't clouded with cigarette smoke, therefore missing out on the all inclusive drinks.
Do not go here if you are a family or young. This place best suits alcoholics over the age of 50 who like to smoke 40 a day and enjoy cold fried food. What a let down! On the bright side Palma Nova is a lovely resort.

Thought this hotel was really good as food was nice staff were really friendly and rooms were good size. The entertainment at night was fair enough as it was free.
It was also well situated for the beach and the pubs and shops.
The only fault I had was the pool was small and not enough sun loungers but hey ho the beach was just across the road. All in all I would recommend this hotel and go back too, myself.

We have recently arrived back from an amazing break in Palma Nova at the fantastic Comodoro Hotel. As soon as we walked through the door of the hotel we were amazed at how clean the hotel was and how welcoming the staff were. We had spent a long time on the internet before we went to Majorca trying to find the perfect hotel and we found it! The hotel is practically sat on the beach...but if the beach is too crowded the hotel has its own pool and terrace with spectacular views over the bay.
All rooms have sea views and the view is breath-taking! The room was clean, tidy and very spacious. I have read various views saying that the food is repetitive - I cannot see this myself - there are times when there may be a similar dish served but there is a huge choice and your not exactly supposed to eat all the different foods at every sitting. The food was varied from paella's to traditional dishes and the restaurant staff were very happy to help. The drinks at the bar are certainly not watered down and the bar staff are lovely and very friendly.
There is entertainment most nights ranging from Parrot shows for the families to karaoke and bingo for different age groups. I am 23 and I enjoyed my stay at the Comodoro - I cannot think of a bad word to say about it - and before you ask I have not been paid to write this review! I wanted to have a nice relaxing break with my little sister, with the possibility of a few nights out if we fancied it. For those younger couples it is about a 5minute walk from Magaluf - however it is the right distance away for families wishing to avoid the nightlife.
I met lots of great people both working at the hotel and visiting the hotel and I can truly recommend it to any wishing to visit this part of Majorca. I would definitely say it is a 4* - for location, service, staff and facilities. I will definitely be going back again - hopefully with some of the friends we made whilst we were out there who equally enjoyed the hotel.
We booked the hotel through Complete Travel in the UK - they were very helpful! They even called the Spanish Tour Operators to book us a room as many tour operators said on their website that there were no rooms available, however Complete Travel went out of their way to help. We booked our flights through First Choice and we were probably not as impressed with the service they offered however I think this was due to the circumstances. There did not seem to be very much leg space on their planes but it was only a short flight so it wasn't too much of a problem.
Anyways - excuse the long review but I thought it necessary given that there are several negative reviews on this site - which I completely disagree with.
Thanks
LG.

We booked this holiday with accommodation and flights separately. Hotel via Med Hotels and flights via Jet2.com, we went on an all inclusive basis, two twin rooms with two people sharing each and paid £143.63 per person.
Having read many reviews on the net about this hotel we were worried as we had originally booked another hotel in Sa Coma but due to lack of bookings had been offered the Commodoro as an alternative. We worried needlessly.
The hotel admittedly is not 4* as advertised more a 3* I would say for amenities and standard etc but as regards food I would say more 2 / 3*. It is not disgusting by any means but rather repetitive and not a lot of choice.
The hotel is very clean and tidy, the staff are second to none and very friendly especially Jonathon who works behind the bar. The reception manager (forgot his name) is fantastic any question you ask he answers or failing that he phones a friend who gives him the answer for you. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff here.
On arrival at the hotel we had missed the all inclusive cut off time for food and drinks but were told to unpack or take our cases to our rooms and come back to reception. When we did we were lead into the dining room where a table had been laid and there were 4 meals laid out for us and unlimited use of Beer, Wine, Soft Drinks and Tea and Coffee. I have to say I have not experienced this in even a 4* hotel so we were impressed.
The rooms are spacious, tidy and clean, a little bit dated but not to the extent of disgust. The bathrooms again are large and spacious. The balcony overlooks the beach and sea but does get windy as we found out.
The pool is on the small side for a hotel of its size and is absolutely freezing cold (you have been warned!).
The surrounding area is pleasant and quiet and there are plenty of eateries and bars. Just up the road is the Hotel Hawaii and then you are in Magaluf and boy do you know it. By day it is ok but by night you literally get grabbed and hassled by every PR person you come across offering you cheap or free drinks to go in every bar.
Magaluf beach is lovely it seems to get the sun and be warmer than Palma Nova beach and there is less sea weed the wind is a lot calmer there too.
Anyone considering going to the Commodoro Playa please do not be put off by what you read. We went dreading it and had a fantastic time and are even considering booking another short break there next year so it can’t be that bad.

We had the worst holiday of my life I will never go back here again with my family because it was a totally rubbish. We had to leave the hotel ever night and never had any where to sit in the dinning area, one night we had to sit on the floor and eat.
The surrounding of the hotel was nice but the pool was tiny and dirty and the pool area didn't have the sun for most of the day. We had to keep going to the beach. The nightlife was really bad in the hotel we only had bingo and quiz we had to go into Magaluf for something interesting.
Overall the holiday package we got was a disaster and total waste of money don't go here!!

Lovely hotel beautiful view over the bay, great location excellent for both couples and singles wanting to go into Magalluf and quiet enough for people just wanting to chill out and relax.
The rooms were large and clean, the food was excellent but beware I put on 10 pounds in weight as there was so much to chose from and the staff were really friendly, I really enjoyed my stay and will be booking to go back in 2006!

Having just returned, the Comodora Playa was better than the reviews. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the food was fine although the meal times could be earlier and the staff where all very friendly.
My only concern was that the hotel overall is not suited for young children i.e. the pool area/meal times and there is no entertainment for children so we spent a lot of time out of the hotel to give our toddler some freedom. Luckily the beach is right outside and the sea is warmer than the hotel pool which is freezing cold.
The hotel is probably more suited to adults/couples.

The food is GREAT even though you get pretty much the same every day. Great view from the windows.
Only problem is, it’s not very secure. Only a little snib holding the balcony door shut and If you wanted to go into someone else’s room, its quite easy as all you have to do is ask for the key of a certain room number and they will give it to you.
You also have to wear a plastic wrist band if you are all inclusive and this has to stay on for the whole of your holiday and can be very uncomfortable for wearing in bed.
Overall, I think the hotel is fantastic.

The Comodoro was rated four star. The food was poor most often it was cold there were no checks on the temperature of the food. Meat was left in trays to go cold. Foods that were left from the previous evening were in salads the next day. I.e. heated mushrooms, oriental veg, baked beans and partially fried tomatoes. Meats were impossible to chew. We picked away at certain foods to make up a meal. Sweets were repeated day after day i.e. bread pudding.
Entertainment was bingo and a quiz. We had to leave the hotel on a nightly basis because of the boredom. Although we were all inclusive we had to pay a euro for bottled water that cost 35 cents in the shops. The bar closed at eleven, because there were complaints they decided to stay open until twelve but you had to pay.
The pool area was tiny and tatty it did not get the sun all day.
A total swiz. Overall a waste of money.

Just back from the Commodoro and had a great holiday! My wife and I went 4* A/I but to be honest it was more a 3*.
Having said that, the hotel was spotless and staff were fabulous, especially the desk manager Gabriel who was very pleasant and informative.
The general manager Jose has only taken the reins in July and said that the hotel would be getting revamped for next year. I would certainly go back for the view and location.
