" The best holiday we have had by far... "
Submitted By: Mrs M Parker
The best holiday we have had by far we still talk about it now a fantastic resort. The weather was great too, I wish we had gone this year.
We are going next year though. The water parks are a must as well you have to try them both a great day out we have 2 kids and were unsure if they would enjoy it but they both cried when it was time to leave they loved it.
A lovely holiday and a fantastic hotel.

We stayed at the Barcelo Palma Nova apartments and we were very impressed by the time and effort which was put into making our holiday the best it can be.

The only disadvantages I can find are that it was on a steep hill, and also there are alot of young groups there, we complained about the noise being made and the English security guard at the apartments said that it was also advertised in the 18-30`s brochure to. So, family’s beware if you are going to the Barcelo Palma Nova make sure you take your ear plugs with you, there are alot of bars around the hotel so this means the young groups go out at night and return early morning and sleep throughout the day.
I am not saying that it was a bad holiday it was very enjoyable, but we didn’t get a good nights sleep. Anybody going self catering there are about 4 supermarkets nearby so you wont be stuck if you need anything.
So families enjoy, YOUNG PEOPLE, IMAGINE IF YOU WAS WITH A FAMILY, YOU WOULDN`T LIKE TO BE DISTURBED!

The hotel is quite nice, it was clean and well kept. The apartments were basic but functionalable, and quite comfortable. The facilities such as the pool, sports area was ok and the snack bar served nice food. The entertainment organised mostly by reps was ok but nothing spectacular.
This hotel was marketed in the First Choice "Family Brochure" with the get out clause "groups of young people and adults will be staying in this accommodation in high season" (which doesn’t start until 22nd July in the brochure.

We went on 18th June, to avoid this, and the majority of the rooms were taken by large groups of young adults. There were at most a dozen families out of 220 rooms.

The amount of noise at night was unbearable, and we didn’t sleep from 2-6.30am all of the two weeks we spent there. We had to put up with very rowdy behaviour and constant foul language throughout the night.

The kids didn’t have much room in the pool because of the young adults all lounging about or playing volleyball in the water and having to put up with their swearing. NEVER AGAIN- complained constantly - but nothing done about it - Either make the hotel a FAMILY hotel or an 18-30s Hotel, not both!
We really enjoyed our weeks stay at the Barcelo Palma Nova Hotel
The staff were friendly the hotel was spotlessly clean. The food was excellent. The entertainment was very good plenty to do if you wanted. Or you could just relax. The pools were very good but we did go the 26th march so it was not very hot but very pleasant
We would recommend this hotel to anyone very good for children I would say it would be excellent in the high season what we saw we were very impressed so impressed we may book and go again in October this year for our wedding anniversary.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, the staff were great. The rooms were basic but clean & comfortable, just make sure you ask for a pool view as all we had was a view of a tree & a little bit of the next hotel! Entertainment was all right better for the kids than the adults! The flamenco dancer they had one night was at least 80 years old!
The hotel is set on a hill but that is not too much of a problem, I burnt loads of calories pushing the pushchair up & down it!
If you are staying here you must visit the Everest restaurant right by the hotel. Very very cheap food! The Breakkies are great too! The use English bacon & sausages.
There are a great selection of bars at the bottom of the hill, also there are plenty of McDonalds, Burger Kings & KFCs!!!
If you are going to go clubbing go to BCMs very good value for money.
It was overall a very good place for adults old & young & children. 10/10

" Families- BEWARE!! This place is... "
Submitted By: Mr S Penman
Families- BEWARE!! This place is marketed through the First Choice Families brochure with the usual "groups of young friends will be staying in high season" get-out clause at the end of the page- don’t make me laugh! My wife and I have returned today from a week with my 7 year old daughter, so here goes:
Excellent: Cathy, Donna & Heather in the Kids Club- they were fantastic and deserve 11/10. Kids Club was fantastic for the kids (great variety) whilst we adults caught up on our sleep. (Thomson take note I’d hire these girls in a minute if I had a travel co).
Good: Apartment was clean and as described. Staff friendly. Good pool area. Good restaurants nearby and some family evening entertainment.
Bad: Location - every apartment backs onto a main road- between 2.30am and 6am, you will be lucky to get any sleep at all for the noise. Some noise is to be expected but its mainly the age 16 - 25 clowns who insist on banging your door, singing at the tops of their voices, pressing your doorbell, running up and down corridors, lobbing things, and generally being a pain that will keep you awake unless your a deep sleeper or in a coma!!
There is a security guard (guards?) who is about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike - he would have trouble getting a job as security in Mothercare. The troublemakers rang rings round them during our visit. Polite requests from families to keep the noise down were met with "f*** off" etc.
On our last night, there was 1 security guy patrolling - but, yet again, from 3am till 6.20am, in they came -the young team, shouting, swearing, banging doors, scaring kids etc.
No one wants to stop the "young team" having fun - but trust me when I say that this was beyond high jinks. Had my 7 year old not slept like a log each night Id have paid to leave.
Out of 210 apartments, only 30 were occupied by families (not exactly a positive mix considering its, and I quote "ideal for families"??) and EVERY family had complained in the past 7 days to the Management. Even the Reps agreed that things needed changed and encouraged us to complain.
Finally, no we aren’t old farts who don’t have fun (34 & 28 actually)- we’ve both been to Magaluf/Palma Nova 5 times in the past 4 years and once with my child. We are both used to coming in at 4 and 5 am in the morning as we do like the odd ale or 20, but the lack of control in this place is worrying and there was certainly a bad atmosphere around the place when we left with all the different groups that were arriving.
If you have a family - think carefully before booking. Make sure your kids can sleep through a thunderstorm and take your earplugs. I’d suggest that Mr Barcelo set aside a separate block for families. They would make a fortune if it were all family only as, without a doubt, the Kids Club are a fantastic team. And of course, First Choice – I’d suggest a rethink on the points made - or get 3 security guards who aren’t as soft as cotton-wool and can sort out the bother. Or call the Policia Local who would give them a good kicking!!

" Arrived to find the floor & one... "
Submitted By: Mrs S Clifford
Arrived to find the floor & one wall in our apartment "black" with ants! Returned to reception to report this, as our daughter wouldn't even enter room, waited 1 &1/2 hours, for a man to come down with a can of spray! He walked in sprayed the apartment, then left. We then also had to leave, as we couldn't breathe for fumes. Due to the fact we'd arrived at 3am, we had to spend the night sitting in reception with our child! We were totally ignored by all staff. When we did return to our apartment it was still swarming with ants, had no tea / coffee supplied, (as had been promised), then discovered we had only been supplied bedding for 2 people, despite the fact we had paid for 4! (we actually never got the other bedding for 4 days), so had to sleep without it!) & had to go out & buy ant killer for ourselves.
Overall service from the staff, was VERY poor, but, the actual resort & facilities at the apartments, were fantastic. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed the entire holiday, (except for night times, when we were kept awake by people fighting, and shouting) One night the police had to attend a fight in the apartment upstairs from us, where the woman was being beaten by her boyfriend, and had been screaming for over an hour, and our young daughter was petrified, after listening to screaming, smashing glass etc,,
The entertainment both for children and adults, was 1st class by day & in the evenings, & this fully compensated for the other problems. ( & the entertainments staff were excellent.)
The pool was the biggest and best we had ever seen in any apartments we had been to.
The Barbeques held were delicious, and the food in the restaurant was also first class.
The actual resorts of Palma Nova, & Magalluf, are also great and ideal for family holidays, as there is so much to see and do, and so many great attractions close by. Excellent beaches, and also lovely and clean. 2 very large water parks, although the queues are quite long, it is well worth the wait!
The Pirates show (on the list of bookable excursions from the apartments) was one of the best shows we have ever seen, and great for adults & children alike!
There are a wide selection of excellent restaurants within a few minutes walking distance, & all the locals are very friendly and helpful.
Despite the ants and the noise at nights, we had a very memorable holiday, and are indeed looking to go back to these apartments again this year. The facilities and entertainment plus the location, beaches and local amenities, outweighed the "small hitches" which we encountered.
