My wife and I have just spent one of the most horrific weeks holiday at these apartments. I’m a young 40 (ex-soldier) and my wife early 30’s. When it comes to roughing it and suffering sleep deprivation I’ve had my fair share of things over the years – however a holiday to Majorca wasn’t where I would have expected to find it in such abundance.
Firstly the apartments – like many people have said – is on a hill. It’s a small hill (200 yards) and to be honest unless you are incredibly unfit or morbidly obese, it’s not going to cause you a problem.
The apartments are based in a small section of the southern side of Majorca called Terranova and from what I can gather these apartments are about to change their names (due to acquisition) to the TRH Terra Nova Apartments. Either way, they are 150 yards away from the centre of Magalluf and all of about 600 yards away from BCM (the islands largest Nightclub holding in-excess of 5000 people). If that’s too far...the closest nightclub is only 100 yards away at the bottom of the hill. You know when you’ve got there due to the stench of puke outside it everyday.
The apartments themselves are basic very very very BASIC. The one we had comprised of a bedroom, with a single wardrobe, windows which were useless and had bars over them and exterior walls which were paper thin. The bathroom had everything you would need – bath/shower, wash basin, toilet and a bedit. The living room has two sofa’s (the wooden type which convert into a single bed) a table which had seen better days and the “kitchenette”. If you’re going self-catering then you won’t be cooking anything in the apartment. All you get is a two ring electric burner and the cooking implements are atrocious (we had to use a pan to boil water for coffee as the kettle was totally rusty and beyond use). The rest of the kitchenette was falling apart! The cupboard doors were falling off, the taps dripped constantly and the fridge had a rusty door.
The decor was just white painted walls – which were in desperate need of repainting. The radiators (which we obviously didn’t use) were all rusty and covered in spillages of unknown origin.
The worst issue you will have staying here is the noise. People roll out of the clubs and bars from 10pm through to 6am and as there is an 18-30 hotel to the side and one behind – the hill becomes a meeting place for young people who are too drunk to stand. Constant chanting, swearing, fighting and screaming happens every night of the week at the top of the hill right outside the Palma Nova Apartments......then when they have finished on the hill.......it transfers into the apartments. The apartments all have door bells and as people retire to their own place they think it’s OK to walk past and ring on everyone’s door. Even more stupidly they have telephones in the rooms so you’re quite likely to get a call in the middle of the night from someone who you don’t know at the other end of the phone just shouting [--].
On the second to last night my wife and I observed 7 lads from London and 2 girls (who we assume they had met whilst out there) having a party in their apartment across the other side of the pool. They had left their patio doors open (onto the balcony) and were happily snorting what looked to be Cocaine on the balcony and hammering shots like they had gone out of fashion.........if we could see this.......then so could the other residents – which included a couple of families with children.
The pool area is like concrete jungle, hasn’t enough sunbeds and is supplied with a constant head shattering music which is as laud as they can physically get it. On top of that the pool-side cafe churns out crap beer and something they refer to as “food”..........inedible and nauseous.
Oh and nearly forgot....the dog. There’s a villa behind the apartments which has a St Bernard living there......it barks and barks and barks all through the day, then when you think it’s gone to sleep it starts again. On top of that they also own a cockerel which calls its dawn chorus – usually beginning at around 6:30am then at 7:00am the locals begin cleaning the streets with petrol motored leaf blowers and road sweepers. That lasts till around 8:30am at which time the hotel staff begin cleaning the pool and throwing the pool furniture round for about an hour or so........then the awful music (which they play round the pool) gets turned on FULL BLAST again.
These apartments are a 1 star at best and it must have been David Blunket who gave them their 3 star status.
The resort itself is like a crude Blackpool in the sun with fast food places, chips with everything, and bars with names like, “The Lady Di Bar”, “Tony’s Pub”, “The Price William”, “Bobs Bar”, “Garys” etc etc. Oh and they ALL either have sky sports or big brother playing CONSTANTLY.
Palma Nova and Magalluf are designed to appeal to two sets of people.......Dobbers and Chavs. However if you are in to blatant drug taking, drinking until you lose control of your bladder/bowels (seen both), walking in vomit and fighting.....this is the place for you!!
PS. The rest of Majorca is absolutely beautiful so go somewhere else and give this place a side step.

hey, im just back from a week in magalluf, mallorca... went with my boyfriend and we had a fantastic time... we stayed in the TRH Palma Nova aparthotel (by the name ud think we were in palma nova, but it was magalluf, palma nova is approx 900m away).. the trip from the airport took only 20 minutes which was great and the flight was just over 2 hours.... The apartment was very clean and had air conditioning that u could leave on all day if u wanted.. apartments were cleaned every day, and towels were changed every second day... we had a double room, bathroom with bath and power shower, kitchen/sitting room (even had a microwave).. satellite tv but only in spanish, balcony which was a very good size.. the pool was big and there was 2 kidies pools, aswell as pool side bar, which served lovely food. there was about 30 -40 sun loungers which were usually gone before 10am, so u would have to be up early to hold one with your towel... lots of tables and chairs available though.... the staff were lovely and very polite, had good english... the apartments were located half way up a slight hill, which honest to god was not that bad... there was a spar shop underneath apts, which had everything... Magalluf Beach is located across the road from the apartments, there are about 100 steps down, which made me a lot fitter ha ha ...
The food was fantastic and very cheap, i would recommend Godfathers Steak House, the food was very fresh and staff were friendly.. We went to a show called "pirates" which was fantastic, lasts just over and hour, but i wud recommend getting there about 45-60 mins before hand as the queues were quite long.. also they tell u that drink is free, but sangria, wine and minerals are all that are free.. u have to pay fo everything else... i would also strongly recommend the western park water park.. its 21 euro per person and well worth it, lots of slides for adults and children as well as shows, swimming pools, and restaurants... u could spend all day there..
The night life has something for everyone. there is the BCM night club for the young and lively, and many clubs, pubs, and disco bars... drink is very cheap , 2 for 1 offers on lots of drink... And before i forget u can get the most fantastic roast dinner in a restaurant called Sams, u get all the trimmings and bisto gravy for 7 euro absolutely gorgeous.. i got my hair cut and coloured on my last day for 30 euro, so cheap and she did a great job !!
THere are lots of shops and stalls.. everything is prices, so u cant really haggle.. i would advise u had a look around b4 buying anything because there can be a bid difference in prices from one shop to the next!!
I would also advise u to visit the Katmandu which is a reataurant and museum and they do a fantastic 4d virtual tour... the building is built upside down which was very cool...
i will definately go back to magalluf and i cant fault a thing , so i would definatle recommend the Trh palma nova for any one thinking of going.... everything is walking disatnce and so central... and just to say for those with small children the apartments were not at all noisey...

This hotel is definitely not meant for families. There is constant noise throughout the night. Lads and girls screaming and shouting all night long. I don't mind noise, but this just takes the biscuit. The windows could be doing with an upgrade as they are paper thin.
The apartment itself was actually very nice. They were clean and tidy with nice big balcony's. The hotel is very clean and really gives a nice impression when you first see it. The pool is lagoon style and very nice at night. The air conditioning didn't work very well in the room but worked well in the livingroom. The food wasn't too bad either.
My only real complaint about this hotel was the fact that there was a lot of yobs staying at the weekend and they had no respect for anyone including themselves. They were just there to have a good time, so they weren't bothered if they were offending anyone else. The hotel really need to start accepting some of the responsililty. Afterall, the families are paying just as much as these hooligans.

Absolutely loved it! I went with two other girls and it was the best time we've had in our entire 18 years. The hotel is in the best spot, just a two minute walk from the main Magaluf strip with all the pubs, clubs and restaurants.
I would definitely recommend to groups of young guys and girls wanting to have a wild week of sex and alcohol. Definitely not for families or elderly people as it is full of drunk youngsters getting naked, shouting and ringing on doorbells in the early hours of the morning. It is set on a very big hill so my leg muscles are SOLID!
Overall, a really nice, clean hotel, regular linen and towel changes and full of really nice people. Just make sure you're prepared because you won't be sleeping till 4am at the earliest!
Enjoy!

If you want to be woken every night (sometimes 7+ times) by swearing, shouting slamming and kicking in of doors - then this is the holiday for you !!
Why they put gangs of lads . stag and hen parties and hard core clubbers together with pensioners and people with young families is beyond me - by 7pm every evening the pool was just not the place to be - with gangs of blokes in there 30`s and 40`s (old enough to have there own small kids ) stripping naked and wearing bondage gear (with the odd punch up thrown in for good measure)
The irony being that this is quite a classy hotel !- smart staff and all built of marble ,glass and polished steel
Every family we spoke to felt as though the holiday had been misrepresented ,but hey ho! - who care as long as the cash keeps rolling in !!
oh! and another thing they call this area Palma Nova - But believe me you are right in the middle of Magaluf my friend - so beware !!

Me and 3 friends (all girls aged from 23 - 31) have just returned from a 5 night break in the TRH Palma Nova (formerly Barcelo Palma Nova).
We got a very good deal on the hotel-it was very cheap. For the money we paid, it was a bargain. It was basic, but clean.
The facilities in the room were good; we had a microwave, fridge (with a freezer drawer) and two cooking rings.
The pool was lovely and big and we never had any problems getting sunbeds. Our view looked onto the pool and we could see the sea.
The hotel officially is classed as being in Palma Nova but it is right in the heart of Magaluf. It was a 2min walk to where all the clubs and pubs were.
So if you are looking for a hotel that is out of the hustle and bustle then don't come here. It is noisy in the night and full with hen and stag parties. It did not bother us too much after a few drinks ourselves.
The hotel is on a hill so be warned, you'll need good leg muscles. There is entertainment in the hotel but it is rubbish. They try their hardest but it is poor.
So if you want cheap cheerful and in the heart of the resort then the TRH Palma Nova is a good choice.

This place is a no no for families! Too many stag and hen do’s kept us up every night come home needing a holiday. Never again.
No consideration for others people banging on doors at all hours of the morning.
Pool cold but ok but bar expensive nothing for kids to do what so ever.
Also on top of a massive hill so if you’re not so good on your pins then it’s not a good place to stay.
Rooms clean and tidy but basic. Trust me do not use this place unless you are child free.

This hotel has now changed its name to the Torrenova, but believe me, if you read a bad report about it is more than likely true.
I arrived on the 13-05-2007 at 11pm with my wife, daughter and grand children to be told they did not have a cot for my 9 month old grandson and maybe they would have one tomorrow at twelve o’clock.
Next day no cot, hence I departed 14-05-2007 after one night of continuous noise, banging of doors, abusive language, fighting, and the list is endless.
This hotel is not for families as it is full of hen and stag parties, you have been warned.

Quality hotel. Thought pool was very nice. Good people when we went. Not nutta`s but just people are age looking to have a laugh but without wrecking the joint. Little security guard man was strict but funny. He was none too impressed when we jumped in the pool after they’d put chlorine in it. Entertainment for the kids was good too (not that we were that age group) but the woman who entertained the kids was up for a laugh with us boys.
Overall a good place for the young without it being idiotic. Also had a few computers so that you could go online and chat to friends back home for next to nothing. 9/10

Very good indeed. Pool and rooms were very clean. The hotel looked more expensive than what it was described.
The reception is very grand. Poolside restaurant/bar was very good and had range of all kinds and drinks weren’t too bad. Magaluf is awesome. Bars everywhere and clubs for everyone. BCM`s at 23 euros for all you can drink has got to be the bargain of the century.
People friendly and lots of good places to eat. Beach was also very clean. The clean up operation that I saw happen on mornings is on major scale. If only they were that good over here!

Very good hotel. Lively but not stupid. Saw nothing of the throwing tables and glasses of other hotels!
Pool is very clean and the bar at the side of the pool serves all sorts at good prices. Lots of entertain for all as at about 8-9pm there was a show for all ages. Very close to the strip which was good. The hill is fine if your young and fit and posed no problems whatsoever in our holiday.
Security guard a bit strict but I’d rather have that than a lunatic asylum with idiots throwing things everywhere. Rooms were ok with basics. I would go again as both the hotel and Magaluf were superb for the clubbing holiday we wanted.

Have just returned for the 2nd time in two years from here. I thought both times the hotel was lovely, well kept and clean.
The entertainment staff were very good and kept my children occupied during the daytime. Overall though I felt there was not enough for the children to do in the evenings so we went out to Palma Nova town. I think this hotel is more suitable for single groups or couples due to where it is situated at the top of a hill and close to the nightlife which can be very noisy at closing times.
Thank god my two children slept each evening! If you want a lively holiday this is the place to be.

In my opinion this was the WORST holiday I've ever been on.
Hotel, although clean was a nightmare, you get woken at all times during the night by folk passing by your door, knocking on it, fighting on the corridors etc. the worst was the 2nd night when all you could hear from outside was a torrent of foul language.
If you could deal with that then you had the families with small kids who were just left to run around screaming and generally being kids. If you had just managed to get to sleep at 4 or 5 in the morning (after the general chaos had died down) then at 7 or 8 the kids would start.
The staff at the hotel and the reps were pleasant and friendly, however they could not simply swap our room for one a bit more out of the way, instead they wanted to charge for it!
In my opinion this is a 18-30's holiday despite Thomsons telling us it wasn't when we booked it, was really disappointed by the whole experience.
I would definitely not go there again, the other thing that you were not told about is the hill, this isn't some gentle slope, this is a king sized hill which is not suitable for the young or infirm folk, so please just be aware of that. The only positive thing is that my calf muscles were really toned when I got back!

I stayed in Barceló hotel in Palma Nova for the first time summer 2005 and thought it was great! I have to say I’ve been to quite a few hotels but this was my favourite! I came on holiday with my 2 friends, and we were all only 16 and my mum and her friend and speaking for them all we all loved the holiday!!!!
The beach was lovely and clean and walking distance from the hotel and the Magaluf strip was literally down the hill which was brilliant as during the day we could go and look at the souvenirs and at night the streets lit up and came to life. So the location was fantastic.
I personally had no complaints about the hotel, it was great watching everyone around the pool whilst sitting from the balcony and the pool was very clean. Hotel staff were friendly, although I didn't speak to them often but they seemed pleasant, and I loved the cheesy music being played around the pool!!!!
If I were to give advice to anyone going on holiday here and staying in this particular hotel is, don't bring any elderly people, make sure your up for a good time and stay out late as I got told that people start banging on doors at night (we was in so late we missed it!)
But everyone staying here looked like they were having a great time and it was a great place for fun loving people!!!!!!

I stayed here last year and I thought it was fantastic I loved it. I'm a travel agent so I know what’s good and what’s not and I can say it's good.
The staff were very friendly and were always there. I couldn't fault the reps either they were very helpful. The beach was very near just down a few steps. There were plenty of restaurants near too, as well as the one on the complex.
Lovely food. Plenty to do for the kids as the kids reps were working 24/7. Plenty of entertainment on complex not to mention down the strip approx 1min away. Overall a very good hotel and would definitely go back there in the future.
