Have just returned for the 2nd time in two years from here. I thought both times the hotel was lovely, well kept and clean.
The entertainment staff were very good and kept my children occupied during the daytime. Overall though I felt there was not enough for the children to do in the evenings so we went out to Palma Nova town. I think this hotel is more suitable for single groups or couples due to where it is situated at the top of a hill and close to the nightlife which can be very noisy at closing times.
Thank god my two children slept each evening! If you want a lively holiday this is the place to be.

I had an absolutely great holiday. Walking into reception for the first time I knew that the apartments were going to be nice and I wasn’t disappointed.
There were two of us and we are both girls so we went through our fair share of towels but everyday these were replaced and this was new to me as I had stayed in apartments where you had to request for towels before.
I should have read this site before we went because then I would have known about the people ringing the bell we thought it was just us!
The reason I didn’t give it 10 was because of the hill we were told by our travel agent specifically that is was not on a hill. But oh yes it was if you could even call it a hill.

I was there between 21st June and 5th of July. I had an absolutely fantastic time. This is probably due to the fact that I was 17 at the time and was probably one of the people keeping families awake at night.
Magaluf is primarily a clubbing resort in my eyes, and these apartments were a minutes walk away from the strip for goodness sake. Obviously the place is going to be full of young people staying out late.
My advice to any families really wanting to go to Magaluf would be to get somewhere slightly further out of town. Unfair maybe but at least you'll get a good nights sleep and most likely enjoy your holiday a whole lot better.

In my opinion this was the WORST holiday I've ever been on.
Hotel, although clean was a nightmare, you get woken at all times during the night by folk passing by your door, knocking on it, fighting on the corridors etc. the worst was the 2nd night when all you could hear from outside was a torrent of foul language.
If you could deal with that then you had the families with small kids who were just left to run around screaming and generally being kids. If you had just managed to get to sleep at 4 or 5 in the morning (after the general chaos had died down) then at 7 or 8 the kids would start.
The staff at the hotel and the reps were pleasant and friendly, however they could not simply swap our room for one a bit more out of the way, instead they wanted to charge for it!
In my opinion this is a 18-30's holiday despite Thomsons telling us it wasn't when we booked it, was really disappointed by the whole experience.
I would definitely not go there again, the other thing that you were not told about is the hill, this isn't some gentle slope, this is a king sized hill which is not suitable for the young or infirm folk, so please just be aware of that. The only positive thing is that my calf muscles were really toned when I got back!

I stayed in Barceló hotel in Palma Nova for the first time summer 2005 and thought it was great! I have to say I’ve been to quite a few hotels but this was my favourite! I came on holiday with my 2 friends, and we were all only 16 and my mum and her friend and speaking for them all we all loved the holiday!!!!
The beach was lovely and clean and walking distance from the hotel and the Magaluf strip was literally down the hill which was brilliant as during the day we could go and look at the souvenirs and at night the streets lit up and came to life. So the location was fantastic.
I personally had no complaints about the hotel, it was great watching everyone around the pool whilst sitting from the balcony and the pool was very clean. Hotel staff were friendly, although I didn't speak to them often but they seemed pleasant, and I loved the cheesy music being played around the pool!!!!
If I were to give advice to anyone going on holiday here and staying in this particular hotel is, don't bring any elderly people, make sure your up for a good time and stay out late as I got told that people start banging on doors at night (we was in so late we missed it!)
But everyone staying here looked like they were having a great time and it was a great place for fun loving people!!!!!!
I stayed here last year and I...

I stayed here last year and I thought it was fantastic I loved it. I'm a travel agent so I know what’s good and what’s not and I can say it's good.
The staff were very friendly and were always there. I couldn't fault the reps either they were very helpful. The beach was very near just down a few steps. There were plenty of restaurants near too, as well as the one on the complex.
Lovely food. Plenty to do for the kids as the kids reps were working 24/7. Plenty of entertainment on complex not to mention down the strip approx 1min away. Overall a very good hotel and would definitely go back there in the future.

This hotel was absolutely fantastic. The room was clean and even had a microwave. The nightlife was a stroll down the hill, literally half a minute walk away. There is also a choice of 2 beaches both really close.
Don't understand why families would want to come here, Magalluf is well known to be a noisy young resort and in the brochure it clearly states this hotel as in Palma Nova/Magalluf so what would you really expect! I can also clarify that this hotel is not advertised through club 18-30 or 2wenties so God knows what that security guard was talking about! Anyway, Magalluf is fantastic, there is a Spar shop right underneath the hotel where they sell Irn-Bru (very important for me coz I'm Scottish).
Went with 2 other girls and we're wanting to book up again this year. Linen was clean, pool was a bit noisy but why bother with that when your right beside the sea. I would also recommend booking with first choice coz they were fabulous.
Overall, fantastic apartments, fantastic resort I would recommend this holiday to anyone (except families).

I stayed here last year and have to say I HATED it! .. we were told we had a pool view and we all thought "great" however little did we know we would practically be right by the entrance to the pool and would have everyone look in when they walked past.
We were then moved a level up which was better but when we had an infestation of ants to took them 4 days to get someone up to sort it out. Although there were few families there we were not impressed when we had people ringing out door bell at early hours of the morning.
On a good note though there were some great restaurants nearby and the entertainment was really good (most of the time) and the bar across the road .. well I think we all LOVED it!!

Stayed at the Barcelo Palma Nova for two weeks and had a brilliant time. Went with a group of 7 guys from Glasgow, all aged 17 & 18, and we all loved it.
It's a matter of seconds from the main strip and about 50meters from the nearest beach - the location is fantastic for youngsters like ourselves (as long as you don't mind a steep hill at 6am when your coming home drunk?). The hotel was spotless and sheets and towels were changed regularly when they could be found.
Perfect hotel for young guys and girls looking to party, however I wouldn't recommend it for families as you wont be able to sleep between 2 & 8 am.

This hotel is very clean and caters well for both young and old and families it is a little noisy at night but I managed to get enough sleep and a nice all round tan.
Oh yeah for us younger guys there is plenty of crumpet available and is never short all in all its a great hotel to which I visited three years running now.
Oh yeah, one other point to add, stay away from Irish girls.

The best holiday we have had by far we still talk about it now a fantastic resort. The weather was great too, I wish we had gone this year.
We are going next year though. The water parks are a must as well you have to try them both a great day out we have 2 kids and were unsure if they would enjoy it but they both cried when it was time to leave they loved it.
A lovely holiday and a fantastic hotel.

We stayed at the Barcelo Palma Nova apartments and we were very impressed by the time and effort which was put into making our holiday the best it can be.
The only disadvantages I can find are that it was on a steep hill, and also there are alot of young groups there, we complained about the noise being made and the English security guard at the apartments said that it was also advertised in the 18-30`s brochure to. So, family’s beware if you are going to the Barcelo Palma Nova make sure you take your ear plugs with you, there are alot of bars around the hotel so this means the young groups go out at night and return early morning and sleep throughout the day.
I am not saying that it was a bad holiday it was very enjoyable, but we didn’t get a good nights sleep. Anybody going self catering there are about 4 supermarkets nearby so you wont be stuck if you need anything.
So families enjoy, YOUNG PEOPLE, IMAGINE IF YOU WAS WITH A FAMILY, YOU WOULDN`T LIKE TO BE DISTURBED!

The hotel is quite nice, it was clean and well kept. The apartments were basic but functionalable, and quite comfortable. The facilities such as the pool, sports area was ok and the snack bar served nice food. The entertainment organised mostly by reps was ok but nothing spectacular.
This hotel was marketed in the First Choice "Family Brochure" with the get out clause "groups of young people and adults will be staying in this accommodation in high season" (which doesn’t start until 22nd July in the brochure.
We went on 18th June, to avoid this, and the majority of the rooms were taken by large groups of young adults. There were at most a dozen families out of 220 rooms.
The amount of noise at night was unbearable, and we didn’t sleep from 2-6.30am all of the two weeks we spent there. We had to put up with very rowdy behaviour and constant foul language throughout the night.
The kids didn’t have much room in the pool because of the young adults all lounging about or playing volleyball in the water and having to put up with their swearing. NEVER AGAIN- complained constantly - but nothing done about it - Either make the hotel a FAMILY hotel or an 18-30s Hotel, not both!

We really enjoyed our weeks stay at the Barcelo Palma Nova Hotel
The staff were friendly the hotel was spotlessly clean. The food was excellent. The entertainment was very good plenty to do if you wanted. Or you could just relax. The pools were very good but we did go the 26th march so it was not very hot but very pleasant
We would recommend this hotel to anyone very good for children I would say it would be excellent in the high season what we saw we were very impressed so impressed we may book and go again in October this year for our wedding anniversary.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, the staff were great. The rooms were basic but clean & comfortable, just make sure you ask for a pool view as all we had was a view of a tree & a little bit of the next hotel! Entertainment was all right better for the kids than the adults! The flamenco dancer they had one night was at least 80 years old!
The hotel is set on a hill but that is not too much of a problem, I burnt loads of calories pushing the pushchair up & down it!
If you are staying here you must visit the Everest restaurant right by the hotel. Very very cheap food! The Breakkies are great too! The use English bacon & sausages.
There are a great selection of bars at the bottom of the hill, also there are plenty of McDonalds, Burger Kings & KFCs!!!
If you are going to go clubbing go to BCMs very good value for money.
It was overall a very good place for adults old & young & children. 10/10
