I was a bit disappointed when I read some of the reviews about this hotel after booking my holiday, however I needn't have worried. The hotel is perfectly situated for access to Belcekiz Beach (approx 2 mins walk) and the Blue Lagoon (approx 10 min walk). It was situated... more

Bad points: Yellow stained toilet seats, showers that either dribble out or pelt out and leak out into the bathroom. Breakfast not good, greasy omelettes, too many wasps which I know is hard to control but so many. Hotel is on a hill with a gravely dusty walk to it, so you... more

want mossie bites go to the marcan
was put into a room that hadn't been used in years overlooking an old concrete play ground. room smelled of mould and damp. so much dust covered the coat hangers we couldn't use them!!! took three days to be moved out into better room. everyone who arrives seem to be put into A block and are then moved. some real gems cleaners and bar staff fab. food not amazing and breakfast left out over the two hour duration in hot temps. would not return even if you paid me!!
Average 3 star
This hotel is on the main street of Olu deniz and about 2 mins walk to the beach and 15 minute stroll to the blue lagoon. We booked this hotel through a travel agent as a last minute holiday. It is an average 3 star. The rooms are ok with plenty of storage space. We pushed our twin beds together and the cleaners made up as a double. The balcony was very small, but the views and pool area were lovely. All the beds were reserved by 8.30ish in the morning (and there were NO germans there!!!) so set your alarm for a poolside bed! There was also a daily sewage smell from the bathroom, which was at times strong and has put me off going back to this hotel. It is obviously an ongoing problem as the cleaners (who were lovely) tried in vain to disguise the smell with plenty of bleach! Turkish breakfast ok, but tea & coffee was awful (and I am no big tea or coffee drinker). reception staff friendly but the bar is quiet pricey!! Olu deniz is lovely, relaxing and chilled out! Food in all the restaurants were good and plentiful, especially in some of the backstreets behind the main prom area. If you want good location and the normal hotel basics of a 3 star with friendly staff and lovely pool area, then try the Marcan Beach, but don't forget your alarm clock and bottle of domestos!
big mistake
have just returned from a fortnight in hisaronu, staying at the hotel telmessos/marcan. never again! i have been to hisaronu for the last three years, and loved it, this is the first time i have booked with airtours to stay at the hotel telmessos. after a much less than comfortable flight, we arrived at the telmessos to find that there was no way that myself, my partner and 12 years old daughter could possibly have all fitted into the allocated room. we asked for a more suitably sized room and we were directed to the sister hotel the marcan! the rooms are all very basic, no air con unless you paid £25.00 per week extra, and mould in the shower - a '3 star hotel'! more like a '1 star'! we booked half-board and ended up paying to eat out most evenings due to the lack of choice and sub-standard quality of the meals. (i have been coming to turkey for the last 18 years, and have never encountered anything as bad as this). if i was on an 18-30 holiday then maybe it would have been ideal, loud music, basic accommodation and very limited menu. unfortunately for myself and my family we dont fit into that category and had a very disappointing time on our annual holiday, and couldn't wait for our return.
Good Hotel
The hotel is clean and tidy and has a good size swimming pool. The location is great as its just off the main street so you dont get all the noise from the bars etc. The hill is a little steep so be prepared. The staff are very freindly but do hassle you for the Turkish nights etc. The Air Conditioning however is a complete RIP off - do not purchase this. We had it on all day and night and it made very little difference apart from the noise it makes. The drinks are also a little expensive so venture out - its much cheaper!!!!
Good Location but in need of TLC
The Marcan Hotel is in dire need of a facelift. However the rooms are a reasonable size and very clean. The cleaners were two lovely ladies who were really friendly and happy. Unlike the waiting staff who insisted on calling everyone darling and trying to engage you in converstaion with the pretext of signing you up for the hotel special nights. The pool size was excellent with plenty of sun loungers (could have done with a steam clean but you put a towel on them) The views were spectacular. It has a good location as long as you don't mind walking up a bit of a hill. The air conditioning was extra 25.00 a week and was rubbish and could not be left on as the key was welded to the electric card. The breakfast was better than average for Turkish hotels and you could get a fresh omlette at no extra cost. There are excellent reataurants at the bottom of the hill in the Lyceum complex-mama Mia Italian and traditional Turkish ottaman Restaurant. fab food in both. Cheap cocktails and cheap beer available at Lyceum Bar and at the Santana bar. In the hotel all the prices at least a third dearer than just down the road. Hisaronou is not as Tacky as I was led to believe and I would have no hesitaition in going back or taking children there. We did go on a boat trip with Easy Riders but would not recommend as we were deafened by the extremly loud music with explicit lyrics and the prices on board were double those we were quoted by the sales woman. We were jammed on to the point six people had to sit on four person tables when they served lunch. Do use Freddie the hotel photographer he takes lovely photos and they are reasonable- you only buy if you like them.
Nice hotel, good food (avoid the breakfast, and watch out for the gas!)
We are a young couple who went away for a week to the marcan. Having never been to turkey before we found it to be a culture steeped in history and beautiful landmarks. Hisaronu itself however had been taken over entirely by the british and it was difficult to find the genuine turkish food and culture that we wanted to experience. The hotel was lovely-very clean, mostly quiet (except for the bar at night) with a nice pool. Don't expect a cooked breakfast though-it is a diet of eggs, salami, cheese, bread, strange salty stale cereal and warm separated milk. However lunches and dinner are superb (if a little pricey compared to three course dinners down the road). The tours of turkey are where to go for culture other than peeling sun-worshippers-we especially recommend saklikent and dalyan departure. However we would warn newcomers to turkey visiting the marcan that there is once weekly mosquito extermination which involves the piping of large quantities of smoke into the hotel corridors. This is done without warning and will fill the entire corridor with smoke, and smells very bad. It is something of concern if you are visiting and have asthma or young children. When we approached the owner about why we were not told this would be happening, he was very dismissive of our concerns and did not seem to care. Overall we would say turkey is a fantastic country to visit woth so much to see and do. Aside from a few minor problems (mostly gas incident!) we enjoyed the hotel with its friendly atmosphere.
Clean & Friendly hotel in lovely location
We have just returned from a week at the Marcan hotel which is situated in Hisaronu, just outside Fethiye. It is a lovely medium class hotel and perfect for a realxing break. It is a short walk up the hill from the town center, but is surrounded by pine trees and views of the mountains. The room was basically equipped but spotless and thoroughly cleaned each day. Great friendly staff and a very relaxing pool area. The restaurant at the hotel is among the best in the area, and the food is beautifully prepared and served. Guests also have the use of facilities at the Hotel Telemessos which is directly opposite. My wife and I made some good friends on this holiday; had fun; relaxed; and enjoyed the Turkish hospitality here. We would definitely stay here again, and thoroughly recommend it.
Would definitely go again........
We have just returned from a week's holiday staying at the Marcan hotel and overall were extremely impressed. The hotel is set in an ideal location 5 mins walk from the centre of Hisaronu (up a slight hill) but is further enough away that when in the complex the noise of the resort is not audible. The hotel is spotless including the rooms, (which are cleaned daily subject to the key being in reception by 12 noon) and the pool and its surrounding areas (the pool is a credit to them) The rooms although small are adequate and all have a tiny balcony looking out to the pool or gardens - excellent shower facilities, hairdryers, plugs for the sinks and loads of coat hangers! The only thing missing is a kettle / tea making facilities! The pool bar is the hub of the hotel and is run by a team of fantastic turkish staff whose main aim is to ensure that you enjoy your holiday through providing excellent service. As a result the atmosphere is fun both day and night. Activities that are provided by the staff (if required) are weekly turkish night (in sister hotel - v good value for money), bingo night and pool volleyball. The hotel do operate a policy that you are not able to buy food and drink from outside the complex and eat it within - this can be a cause for concern but the prices at the hotel are comparable to those in resort. They also operate a policy whereby everything that you spend on food and drink is credited to a room card that you then settle up at the end of your stay, all transactions are computerised so easily trackable. This can tempt you to spend more but they will allow you to pay at intervals if preferred and means that you never have to worry about carrying cash around the hotel bar / pool. Additional things to mention about the hotel are that they serve excellent food day and night, and there is the facility to keep your room on for those leaving on an early morning flight (£10) with no restrictions. Hisaronu is a larger resort than we first thought and is ideally suited to those guests who want England in the sun - very little culture but lots of english bars and restaurants serving sunday roasts along with other things.
Would try somewhere else . . .
When i booked the hotel, as it was "bed and breakfast" i assumed that breakfast was included. Not so, if you want a cooked breakfast (rather than cheap cornflakes with warm milk), you have to pay. In addition, there are no facilities in the bedroom, not even a kettle. Dont expect a good night sleep, the bar will keep you awake until about 3 o clock in the morning with the music and noise, and just as you nod off the birds will start at about 4am, although not the fault of the hotel obvioulsy but unless you paid an extra £25 per week for air conditioning you will want the balcony door open. having said that, the setting is lovely, with mountain views and the pool is a good size. Anyone know of a nice quiet hotel in Hisaronu with no music and no kids? please tell me!! PMH, Lytham St Annes
loved the marcan
have just returned from a week at this hotel, and found it to be above average(having stayed in turkey several times before, at different hotels) The staff are all extremley helpful, without being too in your face, as you sometimes find in turkey, and the hotel its self was spotlessly clean. Set in lovely well tended grounds, half way up a fairly steep hill, which is a killer to walk up in the blazing sun, but its probably one of the most central hotels in the resort, therefore worth the walk. The rooms, although quite small, with a VERY small balcony(only just enough room for two patio chairs) were clean and comfortable, and if you hand your key in at reception before 12 o' clock, were cleaned every day.The only things we found lacking was that there is no fridge or kettle in the rooms, so i would advise anyone who likes a cuppa first thing to take a travel kettle, and a universal sink plug so that you can fill the sink with cold water, and stand your bottles, cans , milk etc. in the sink !! The place to eat is DEFINATELY the vineyard, which is at the far end of the strip, near the Efes bar and the Suntrap Bar. It serves the most fantastic food. Steaks, chicken, and more traditional turkish food, which was absolutley delicious, and in the end we just used to say "we will be in tomorrow, just surprise us !!" and you wouldnt believe the most fabulous food that we were served. We tried other resteraunts, but were always disappointed, and eventually decided not to waste money, by eating any where else. The service and friendliness of all the staff was outstanding, they really couldn't do enough for you, and the bill at the end of every night, was always a shock too, (we could never believe that we had eaten and drunk so much for so little!!! in fact, we used to try and guess the bill total and was always about £30 too high !! ) All in all we had a fantastic time and would recommend this hotel, if you are not looking for a 5* hotel, but are looking for some where clean and comfortable where you can relax around the pool.
