The hotel was very clean and staff were ok, the food was not catered for english people or young children, the pool was good and the bar although they only give you half measures and shut at 11 oclock on the dot every night, overall a decent hotel and decent holiday but all inclusive aint what its cracked up to be 5 star I don't think so.. ..will go back to Marmaris but not the GRAND IDIOT'S haha.. .

Were do I start? My sister (23, 18)...

Dec 2007, Miss T.L Leach

Were do I start? My sister (23, 18) and I stayed in the Grand Ideal Hotel last July and at first we were pleased with what we saw. The bedroom was nice and clean, apart from the shower which had broken off the wall and had no shower curtain.
We arrived there at about 3 o'clock in the morning and were knackered from all the travelling ... they showed us to our room and we went to sleep.
We got up about 10ish and went down to the pool to find there was no loungers left, but there were loungers with towels on and nobody on them for about 3 hours!
We didn't have a clue what to do because the rude receptionist didn't explain to us that we had to have a stupid wrist band.. so we bought scrambled egg which was minging because the bread was stale. Everything was so expensive at the hotel but we had to pay it because we were so hot.
The staff at the hotel were perving at us all the time, they were rude and brusque. One of the waiters shouted at us because we wouldn't go to their turkish night!!
The breakfast was disgusting, yuuum olives for your breakfast! NOT
They seemed to be really rude to the English and they would look at you stupid of if you asked them a simple question. Or laugh at you.
We were so glad to get home!!! DON'T GO TO THIS HOTEL IF YOUR ENGLISH

Hotel was disappointing... 4 star - not! Food was served outside every night, flies beat us to it every night! Ended up having to eat somewhere else every night, bit pointless paying for half board. Room, well more like an attic cupboard, we could only walk up straight down the middle of the room. Shower was either cold or roasting hot, the maid insisted on trying to wake you up before 8.30 every morning to clean your room. Oh! and forget trying to get near the pool, towels on all loungers by 9.30 everyday! Need I go on!

Aug 2007, Miss A Harrison

At first we were very disappointed with the hotel as we were placed on the top floor which has not yet been refurbished, but as soon as the staff knew we were not happy we were moved to the 4th floor (the nicest floor) as it has only just been refurbished.
The air conditioning was freezing when it got going which was good as turkey was so hot 55 some days while we were there. The staff were brilliant! Especially the staff at the pool bar Charlie and Jonny.
Day time entertainment was mainly catered for Germans as the DJ spoke a lot of German but this changed in the night when it was equal. All the staff in the hotel had a brilliant sense of humour! Once they got to know you they were always game for a laugh. The hair-dressers in the hotel always went out of there way to say hello and have a joke with you and their service was brilliant for the price (I paid £30 for a full head of hi-lights and they were the best I ever had!)
Out side the hotel beware of the children with scales (beggars) they will hassle you until your close to breaking, they are very abusive and rude and threaten to pick pocket you! The shop keepers (clothes & gift shops) will hassle you even if just passing but you get used to it after a while and you cant look with out buying as you feel you have offended them. Shopping is a much nicer experience if you jump the bus to Ishmeler the shops are brilliant there is no hassle and most of the goods are priced.
The market is not for the faint hearted they will hassle you to death you need a lot of patience and don't go near the trinket stores in the market they will put every bracelet they have on your wrist at the same time! Although the Ishmeler shops are better. the Ishmeler market is worse than Marmaris. The store owners are very funny though shouting comments like cheaper than Primark, cheaper than Asda!
The jeep safari is something you can not miss! Be very prepared to get wet!!! That's the aim of the whole trip! Over all the weather was great the shops were an experience and the hotel was great!
And a good phrase to learn for while your there (what they love) 'CHEEKY BUGGER'!!

Lovely hotel, very clean and tidy!...

Jul 2007, Miss C Atkinson

Lovely hotel, very clean and tidy! Nice friendly staff who go out of there way to help you.
Nice pool area plenty of sun beds to go around. A good choice of entertainment on in the evening. A good selection of bar meals, however the drinks could be priced a little lower. The bar staff where very friendly and helpful.
We had a lovely maid for are room. The room itself was one of the nicest i've stayed in.
The resort had a different feel to Spain and Cyprus and a lot of nicer people, although the Turkish people pestering you to buy things can get irritating!
A* holiday my only complaint is the breakfast there isn't much to choose from and the gymnasium could be better. But overall location and hotel 9/10 would definitely go back.

Jul 2007, Miss V Powell

I came back this morning from the Grand Ideal. Me and my friend both shared 1 room and were very pleased with what we got. We arrived at 7.30am on the Tuesday Morning.
Although we weren’t shown to our rooms we managed to find it... past the hairdressers, internet cafe, jewellers and other shops within the hotel.
We then went to see if the breakfast matched up to what we'd read within other reviews on the hotel, I’m afraid to say it did. We were presented with the usual salad, a few cold meats (all very plastic looking... and tasting) some bread next to a toaster and then one tray of hard boiled eggs and one tray of frankfurter sausages.
We weren’t very impressed especially as we were both starving from the two hour transfer. Although there is a small cafe over the road called "Greasy Spoon" which does a full English for 99p! Bargain!
The nightlife around the hotel can be either quieter or a lot busier depending what your after and how far you walk up the beach front, As two 18 year olds we preferred the much louder and later nightlife and recommend a trip to bar street (about 10 lira, £4 in a taxi) is well worth it!
The maids within the hotel were very pleasant, with providing fresh towels and bed sheets every day, the hotel always looked spotless, even around the pool with the waiters coming to check if you need drinks or any food all throughout the day.
The hotel runs a wrist band system also which they scan and then you can pay off whenever you want, as it saves carrying cash down to the pool or within the restaurant and bars.
Great idea although we weren’t given one.
Over all for what we paid each (£231) we were more than happy with this hotel and would recommend a lot! Although we were to attend again we would be going self catering as the evening menu looked as random as a mad hatter’s tea party!

I have travelled to many countries yet never fancied Turkey. The Grand Ideal is fantastic.
Clean, good rooms, staff go out of their way to ensure all your needs are catered for.
Our family will definitely return. Thanks to the staff for making my daughters 18th birthday a success!

Jun 2007, Miss D Williams

The hotel was very nice, the rooms were cleaned every day, and the staff were very friendly.
Myself, partner and 2 1/2 yr old son went and they loved playing with my son, and kept him entertained, we went during a not so busy period and so there was plenty of sun loungers around by the pool.
During the end of our stay a few more people turned up and so there wasn’t so many, but we were so near to the beach it didn’t matter.
Turkey is a really cheap place to stay and there are loads of excursions to do if that’s what you want to do, there are a lot of Turkish people that will hassle you into going on the trips, but you get that every place you go.
The hotel is not in the middle of the night life but only a 20 min walk to get to the heart of it all. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants around, and there wasn’t any need for us to venture further.
The only disappointing part of our hotel was the breakfasts, there wasn’t much choice for the brits that enjoy a fry up in the morning, but we ate out every day for breakfast, it was so cheap - £2-3, for full English, and we never wanted to get up so early to make the breakfast time anyway.
This is a really great place to visit.

Jun 2007, Miss S Gomme

My friend and I stayed at The Grand Ideal for a week in June and for what we paid were pleasantly surprised. The staff were always ready to help, especially the night staff .
The room was excellent, plenty of room, very clean and modern. The shower was spacious, our towels were changed daily and beds made daily. We couldn't fault the maids they were very polite and helpful.
The pool was fantastic, very big, plenty of sun beds. The pool bar staff were happy to help and would often serve you from your sun bed!
The location of the hotel was perfect, restaurants and bars right outside the hotel and a very short walking distance to the beach front where you can find entertainment to suit everyone!
There is a taxi rank right outside the hotel which was reasonably priced and lots of buses that would go to Icmeler and the centre of Marmaris every 5 minutes!
Overall this is the best holiday my friend and I have been on, and have already booked to return in august! We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Oct 2006, Mr M Hindmarch

This was the third time in two years that we have stayed in the Grand Ideal, once with no children and twice with. This is one of the best, friendliest hotels I have ever stayed in and we are quite well traveled. The Grand Ideal is spotlessly clean, the staff are very helpful and friendly, they can’t do enough for you.
The apartments are spacious with a twin room and two sofa beds in the living area, (never had any complaints from our kids?). Apartments also have two large balconies. (Hotel rooms one). The maid service especially in the hotel rooms is excellent; we have never had any problems with noise in this hotel. The hotel is safe not only for children, but also belongings. There is a safe in every room (which we have never used).
The pool entertainment is excellent, you only have to say no if you are a bit miserable, but the kids loved it. If you are looking to enjoy your holiday, and not go just to pick at everything you can, then this hotel is for you. We will defiantly be using this hotel again.
