Okay, but wouldn't give it a 4 star rating
Stayed in this hotel for two weeks in August 2007 with my husband and two daughters, aged 13 and 12. There are some good points for this hotel, for instance, the hotel was clean and tidy. The pools are nice and spacious. The majority of the staff are very hard working and friendly and the food is good value. The hotel is located on a hill as most people have already mentioned, this was a plus to us as we do not like to be in the middle of a lively town. The walk into Hisaronu was okay and it was not too bad at night to walk back up, but in the middle of the day it was a bit much and you would need to get a taxi, which is only 8 lira. The downsides to this hotel have also been mentioned previously by others, but I really have to mention the over pricing of items in the hotel. A small bottle of water was 9 times the price of the supermarkets and a large bottle was 5 times as much. Everything was ludicrously over priced and this made people venture out of the hotel more than they would normally do. Also the hotel operate a silly credit card system, you cannot actually pay for anything with cash you have to use this card. The receipts do tell you how much you are spending but I would still have preferred to pay cash each time. We bought items like water and snacks from the local shops and smuggled them in, but I noticed that many Turkish guests brought items in and did not bother hiding them nor did they get questioned about them, unlike English people that were caught bringing food and drink in. I must admit that felt a bit like being in a prison camp rather than on holiday! Entertainment in this hotel, is I'm afraid non-existent. If you have children they will become bored fairly quickly. I was told by guests that had used the hotel before that there used to be a very good entertainment programme, but not anymore! Hisaronu itself is a bit too touristy for me, I would have preferred to see more of the traditional Turkey, but if you like the kind of place where every other building is a pub or a shop trying to sell you fake designer goods you will love it!!! We visited the Turkish Ivy several times in Hisaronu (opposite Azda supermarket) and they do some lovely meals and the staff are very friendly, I would really recommend this restaurant. We did the Jeep Safari trip which was a really good, fun day out and a couple of boat trips, which were excellent value. We used Oscars travel and they will haggle on the price with you a bit, but I think all of the travel agents are about the same. All in all there are far worse places to go than the Green Anatolia and as I said it is clean and the food is good (we ate in the hotel most evenings as we were half board and didn't get ill once).
Good Holiday all round
We stayed here in May 2006 and had a wonderful holiday. The hotel is wonderfuly clean and the rooms are well equipped. The air conditioning worked, the breakfasts were good and the staff very helpful. I agree that the cost of things in the hotel was inflated and that if they dropped the price more people would stay in the hotel in the evenings, it was always quiet...though we went at the start of the season so it may be different when the hotel is busier. We also smuggled food and drink in with no challenge from staff. The "private beach" may not be completely private but it is a great service for visitors to the mountain resort and all the people there are great and the food/drink reasonably priced. The walk to the resort centre could be a struggle in the middle of the afternoon when it was at its hottest but was a nice relief in the evenings. Would love to go back to the area and would stay here again. Can recommend the rainbow tandoori all you can eat indian buffet in the centre of the resort it is divine!!
Fantastic Holiday
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Green Anatolia for one week in Sep 2006. We booked the holiday very late and were unsure what to expect when we arrived. Im pleased to say that we were both over the moon with the accommodation and resort. The hotel is well laid out with stunning views and the staff cant do enough to help you. We were so impressed with the hotel that we are trying to get booked up for this year. There is so much to do in the surrounding area that we never managed to fit in all the trips and sight seeing that we wanted. There are lovely restuarants and shops ten minutes away from the hotel so theres no noisy lager louts keeping you up at night. The hotel has its own stretch of private beach at the lagoon, a 5 minute bus journey away - which the hotel transfers you to and from for free. This is an absolute must. The lagoon is beautiful and has to be seen to be believed. I would highly recommend this hotel and turkey to anyone. I wasnt to keen on visiting Turkey before we booked the holiday - I had heard all the usual horror stories - but having now been on one of the best holidays of my life it has completely changed my opinion of it and now I cant rate it high enough. If you have any doubts at all about visiting the country or this hotel just forget them and get booked up.
great pool
Stayed here last two weeks of September. The grounds and pool were excellent and I imagine this is the reason why it has recieved a four star rating now. The room and bathrooms were basic - but the shower was powerful. We paid 235 each for this trip - booked last minute - were due to be staying up the road at a different place which closed early for the season so were given this as an alternative . The food and drinks were not value for money and prices in the shop etc were inflated . We did sneak food and drinks in - I have never stayed in a place where there is a sign up forbidding this - but it was there facing us when we arrived! Most of the bar staff did not seem interested and one in paticular I felt was quite rude. This was made up for by the cleaners, the chef and some of the waitiers who were very friendly. We saw a lot of comments regarding prices and staff in the comments book . The surrouding views were stunning and we spent many an hour lying by the pool. The pool slide was open on our first few days but did not reopen after this. We only once went to the hotels 'private' beach - the area that they take you to is on the other side of the lagoon and didn't feel very private due to other buses from other hotels dropping off. The departure and pick up times were adhered to though and we felt they were very reliable. I think that they will let you off int he centre of Olu if you ask. Due to the time of year we were there it did occasionally get chilly in the evening and for two days there was thunder and lighning - which was spectacular but did confine us to our rooms - one of the days the electricity was interuppted several times -many other places where they did not have generators were blacked out. We ate out mainly in Olu as we preferred the atmosphere there to Hisaranou. But we did stumble on a place in Hisaranou called 'Our Place' which is off the main road and is a fantastic vegetarian restaurant - the meze starter and the baklava and brown bread ice cream were out of this world and if we ever go back to the area will certainly return. The guy who runs it is very 'chatty' and pround of his acheivments. Went diving with the European Dive Centre - 5 star padi centre - did 3 dives. Thought they were very professional and the only reason we only got round to doing one days diving was because my husband had a cold for the first week and so his sinuses were not great. Would dive with them again if we returned. They have a wee shop front in Olu which is where we booked. Did paragliding which was also an amazing experience - higly recommend it - most prices are similar. Did the 12 island boat trip which we came back from totally exhausted as at every stop we went snorkelling for as long as we could. Also did the 8 island boat tour - we did this twice and I would actually recommned this over the 12 island one as we did not come back so tierd - but I guess this was self induced so if you have a chance do both! Buzz Bar is amazing - the views from the rooftop bar are beautiful and the food and drinks were excellent. I don't tend to go to the same place twice as there is a huge world out there waiting to be discovered but I am actually looking at going back to Olu next May... but wouldn't go out of my way to stay at Green Anatolia.
Would definitely go back
My husband and I booked a week here. The setting of the hotel complex is stunning. Hisaronu is a beautiful resort and very handy for the beautiful bay of Olu Deniz. The hotel had a "credit" card scheme which allowed you to buy food, drinks and services without exchanging cash until the end of your holiday. We found this very convenient and each time we got a receipt it told us how much was on our account so we didn't go daft! We spent every day on trips and visiting the beach but returned every early evening for a pleasant drink by the pool at the bar. Our room was in a block quite near the bar which meant it could be a bit noisy at night time if a handful of wild ones were drinking til dawn. It didn't really bother us though. The room itself was ideal. Be aware that you are not allowed to bring back your own drinks and snacks so have to rely on the mini bar. It wasn't over priced so we didn't think twice about taking cans of juice, water and crisps from it. Whilst here, I took advantage of the turkish bath. It was very relaxing and I'd do it again. We would definitely like to go back to Turkey and would choose Hisaronu again. Wouldn't have a problem with coming back to Green Anatolia at all.
Great Hotel in great surroundings !
Went to the Green Anatolia for a 'chillied' out holiday - and that's exactly what we got ! On our 1st morning went for a refreshing Turkish Bath which is in the Hotel itself, where they scrub all your dead skin off ready for your sunbathing. The Hotel works on it's own 'credit card' system, so if at anytime you want to buy anything from the supermarket or the restaurant, you just hand your card over and it get's charged to your room. Rooms were great and cleaned everyday, just don't expect electricity all the time - especially in thunder storms ! The only problem with the Hotel is that it's at the top of a l o n g sloping hill which after a few drinks can take some walking up ! Would recommend the Hotel but not for people with small children as not much near the Hotel to keep them entertained.
Ok but not a 4*
Just got back from the Green Anatolia in Hisaronu, Turkey. My friend and I (both 24) went here for a week hoping for relaxation. Hotel: The hotel is right a the top of a hill about 600 metres from Hisaronu. Its ok going down hill but we often got a taxi back to the hotel as the thought of staggering up a steep hill after a night out on the town was awful! Taxi's charged 8TL before 12 and 10TL after. The hotel is very strict on bringing your own food into the hotel. We often did it on many occasions and were never caught. If the hotel made there prices cheaper then we would not have to do this. Breakfast was good. Pancakes, eggs dishes, fruit, cereals etc. Pool was nice, empty on most days as hotel was about 1/3 full. Probably due to football and bird flu. Wouldn't rate the hotel as a 4* more a 3*, due to the fact that our rooms were very basic and small. Never saw our Thonson Rep once during our whole stay. Do they still do welcome meetings?? Resort: Hisaronu is a fab place! Many restaurants to choose from and loads of shops selling fake designer goods. Good place to eat out is the Butterfly Rooftop restaurant. Say hi to Amet for me (sarah). Trips: We went on a Jeep Safari! Great fun but be prepared to get wet!! Also be prepared to get your head blown off by the wind!! Don't forget your sun tan lotion and your camera. Tour guide was exceptional. Say hi to Yusif for me!! Overall we had a good holiday. Would not choose this hotel again due to its location and tiny rooms.
here is note about hotel ....
I have booked my holiday by koraltravel com and the hotel is perfect. Set high in the hillside resort of Ovacik, the Green Anatolia Hotel sits in lush. well maintained gardens. in peaceful surroundings. It's large swimming pool with water slides dominates the grounds, around which are set the restaurant, out-door bar, pub, reception, shop, leisure centre and several blocks of accommodation.  I was fortunate to find myself here in this the last week of the season when many other hotels had already closed. Whilst the night temperature may have been cold, matching the deamenor of some of the staff - who appeared all well overdue a break of their own, my room was warm and clean and there was plenty of hot water and soft fluffy towels - a must for us  Brits!  The food was good with a varied choice !  The proximity of the hotel to the nearby nightlife and bars of Hisaronu is a good 20 minute walk down. Recommended!!!
Although I have scored the hotel as well above average, I waivered between that and excellent. We have visited this hotel twice now and have recommended it to friends. We have enjoyed ourselves so much (2 adults, 2 kids 10 and 7) that we plan to go again this year. The rooms are not the largest but are comfortable with linen and towels changed everyday. The staff are friendly and whilst the food can be a little repetitive, we only had breakfast as there is so much choice in Hisaronu. The kids entertainment team were fantastic and made sure the children had a wonderful time, to the point of tears on our departure! A word of warning! Cosmos wanted £2700 for 2 weeks. We booked rooms direct with the hotel, they also provided the transfers and we booked our own flights. We saved £1200. We were met at the airport on arrival despite a delay and avoided the coach tour of everyone else's hotel. All in all, the best way to do it by far. All we missed was a rep trying to sell us expensive trips. The resort of Hisaronu is probably best described as 'vibrant'. It can be noisy, but the hotel is a 10 minute walk away in peaceful surroundings. There are so many places to eat, you could sample something different every night and not eat the same thing twice. We have never been anywhere twice before, let alone 3 times, but each time we go somewhere else it fails to compare. We've been spoiled and we're sticking with it!
Smugglers!!!
We have recently returned from are holiday in Turkey and when we first arrived at the Green Anatolia it looked very clean and tidy. After our first night at the hotel we went to brekfast the following morning, the food was laid out nicely and seemed to be fresh. We knew the times for brekfast where from 7-10am but we did not expect from a 4 star hotel to have the waiters clear your plates up whilst you are still eating. They did this every morning as soon as the clock turned to ten our food was taken off the table and all of the drink machines where also taken aswell. Also we had the same choice of food every day and there was no variety off food for anyone they also didnt cater for babies as for the first ten days of are holiday there was no butter availible and there was the same choice everyday.Apart from this it did not state in the brochure that you where not able to bring food or drink into the hotel so we took this matter up with the hotel management and they said that if they didnt see us bringing in food or drink then wouldnt mind therefore every time we wanted to bring in drinks we had to hide them either in our pram of under our clothes we felt like smugglers and felt very uncomfortable.Apart from this fact we also read in the brochure that there was a pool bar and snack bar also a disco in the hotel but when we arrived we found that none of these facilities where open for use and that where completly closed. We did not expect to have these sort of problems from a four star hotel which looked very good in the brochure and we where very unhappy that the brochures annd hotels failed to tell us that we where unable to bring drinks into the hotel if we had known this we wouldnt have booked this hotel. This hotel isnt the worst by a long stretch it is very clean and very well presented and the rooms are very spacious and there was also a very handy shuttle service to the Olu Deniz beach which was free.
