I don’t know how anyone can give...
10 / 10
Sep 2007, Miss J Barraclough

I don’t know how anyone can give this hotel lower than an 8, I would certainly give this more than 10. It was the best holiday I have ever been on in my life [even better than Florida; hard to believe].
The rooms were simple but who cares its not like you spend all day in your room, the maids worked very hard to clean them and make the bed sheets into different pictures, it was a real shock one day to walk in and find flowers and petals all over them, it looked beautiful.
The food was outstanding we only ate out of the hotel. 3 nights when we fancied a change. There was plenty of entertainment, for example
. Water polo
. Volleyball / water volleyball
. A film every night [10:00]
. The magic show / belly dancer / Full Monty
. Bar staff dance [break-dance] etc.
We came home Friday and the staff were absolutely lovely I have never met anyone like them or missed anyone as much. I am defiantly going back for my next holiday.
I’ll see you again next year.

This was the best holiday I have ever experienced. The hotel was spot on, couldn’t ask for anything better, hotel was clean and without the staff our holiday would be incomplete, staff were so friendly and helpful.
Definitely going again next year. Location is amazing about 5 minuet drive from the mind blowing beach (blue lagoon) big up to all the bar staff at Asena village and a big thank you to the restaurant staff for the amazing service. Choice of food is amazing.

We arrived back today after a...

Aug 2007, cheery

We arrived back today after a fantastic holiday. We stayed for 2 weeks on a half board basis, after paying so little to upgrade to HB we decided that if the food was no good we could eat out...which we did...due to a prior arrangement...and I really wished we hadn't!
Check in was simple. Offered air-con at 3£ per day and the use of a safety deposit box, which was near to reception and had a dual security measure. 2 adults and 3 children-have to say I was worried it may have been cosy, but again no need. We were given a 3 roomed room.
The only criticism I have of the place it that the rooms and bathrooms are tired, but management know this. The rooms are simple and typically Turkish. There was enough storage for the 5 of us and the beds were comfy.
We went for the air-con as it was in the mid/late 40's when we arrived and we left it on all day so that the other rooms would benefit as it is only in the main bedroom.
The rooms had a mini bar stocked with water, soft drinks and a couple of beers, all prices shown on the door. They were very clean. Our towels were changed daily as was our bedding...the kids got excited guessing what shape the bedding would be in...Really excited when there were fresh flowers and petals!
Breakfast is again Turkish, with pancakes twice a week and omelettes twice a week.
There is a pool bar for lunch if you want to use it- toasties pizzas etc.
There wasn't a mad rush for sun beds in the morning, and until the middle of our stay there was a great canopy across 1/2 of the pool terrace which was a welcome relief, but it got really windy one night and fell victim...but I'm sure it will be reinstated v soon.
Dinner was a lavish affair with stacks to choose from, both English and Turkish. The food was beautiful. (Apparently there has been no case of Turkey tummy within the hotel for over 2 years). The staff were great, making our children feel like they were the only ones staying in the hotel.
We did the jeep safari, my husband drove and we went through Hamish Mc Turk...a fabulous day out. Wear your dirtiest clothes and take a bin-liner if you don't want stuff to get wet!
Though it has to be said that not all companies are as insured as they would like you to think so check your policy. There was also unfortunately an accident the day after we went, and not with the company we used.
We did the water park at Ovacik, not one of the best days out I have to admit. All of the children (and hubby) came back with bad bruises because the joints of the slides weren't as smooth as they should have been...also they seem to close the slides for an hour over lunch, and in some parks it's half price after that, worth saving yourself a few quid.
We also went riding, which was good fun, although very long! Over 3 hours, we went to Kaya but once we arrived and had a quick drink it was time to ride back, so may be worth a dolmus ride if you want to look around the ghost town.
Hisaronu was busy, and hot, and for me was too British, but everyone was friendly. But that's my personal view.
Olu Deniz was also busy and hotter but what a setting! We did a day on the beach and a meal in the evening. It was 15 ytl for 2 beds and a parasol for the day on the public beach.
What more can be said about our holiday??
The staff work their backs off to make your stay a happy one, and I would cert go back to Asena Village. But wouldn't use Onur Air...but thats another review!
Enjoy!!!

Aug 2007, Mr P Flynn

We have visited this complex 3 times in 15 months, the last finishing at the end of July.
We are also going there again next year why? The whole area is constantly kept clean all the staff are very friendly and helpful.
This year has seen the arrival of spiky mike the entertainments manager from the UK who has made the poolside activities and evening entertainment better due to the variety of well known games and shows to augment the fantastic Turkish entertainment. Bear in mind 98% of visitors whilst we were there were English this addition to the staff has been most beneficial.
We upgraded to half board and were very pleased with both the quality and quantity of food provided.
Value for money it was excellent
Our thanks to Cuneyt, his management and staff for making our holiday most enjoyable

Where do I start??!! We came home...

Aug 2007,  Miss Hornby

Where do I start??!!
We came home last Tuesday and I just want to be back there. It was brilliant!!
The staff were excellent, very friendly and always happy to help.
David and the boys were very entertaining, joining in with pool games and entertaining in the evening.
Mike - the English entertainer was brilliant too!!
We went bed and breakfast so only ate in the hotel twice but the food and the staff were excellent.
We got very friendly with everybody in the hotel which was helped by the pool games - getting everyone to socialise together.
I went in a group of four - my boyfriend and his brother and his girlfriend. In the evenings we took the five minute walk into the centre where there are lots of lovely restaurants and bars!!
We only had one bad meal in two weeks which was at a Chinese but everywhere else was brilliant, good value for money and beautiful food.
The best bar - Aloha!!! With Angel and Tolgar!!!!
We are planning to go back in the near future.

Aug 2007, Mrs B Kates

We had a fantastic time here. The wonderful staff treated you like family and couldn't do enough for you.
I was shocked to read on here that the food was described as 'bland'. I have stayed in 5 star hotels across the world from India, Africa to the Med and I thought that the food here was far better than many 5 stars! The food really was outstanding!
Up to 30 dishes to choose from for breakfast (cereal, eggs cooked in several ways, fruits; apricots, cherries, watermelon, galia melon, grapefruit, etc), several types of fresh crusty bread and rolls, cheeses, local honey, homemade jams, homemade yogurt, toast., bacon and egg) .... An amazing choice!
Dinner was incredible, there was every salad you could think of, dozens of amazing Mezes, (vegetarian meat and fish) and from the buffet counter was usually two or three choices of main dish, plus vegetables, potatoes rice all beautifully and freshly prepared).
Not being funny, but I think the sort of people who complain about the food are the sort who don’t know what a vegetable is! Trust me, the food was incredible!
We went B & B to try out outside restaurants but nothing compared with the Asena restaurant.
The entertainment was tops! Something for everyone. and the area and countryside are just stunning!

Aug 2007, Mr A Gordon

Had a great time! I, wife, and two boys couldn't have asked for more.
If you wanted good food and entertainment, you could get it in the hotel.
Hisaronu main street is a five minute walk. Some great bars and restaurants.
The waiters and the rest of the staff in the hotel are very friendly people, who will go out of their way to help.
Not really the kind of place that would suit a gang of lads / girls, nor is it the kind of place that has marble floors and gold taps. But if you are looking for a laugh, great service, good food, value for money and somewhere you feel safe with your children, and then this is the place.
Well done to all at Asena for making our family holiday a great one.

Without wishing to sound a snob, if...

Jul 2007, Mr J Smithson

Without wishing to sound a snob, if you smoke and have tattoos (ladies included) you will feel really at home here!! Seriously, this is NOT an upmarket hotel. It has a Butlins feel to it, but actually grows on you.
The staff are really friendly and helpful - for example, when you arrive, they dash to get your cases and don't expect a tip. The lock to our room was faulty so we couldn't get in. Within 5 minutes the cleaning manager was there to help. Within 20 minutes the lock was changed. Now that's service!!
Everything spotless. Rooms spacious but showers a bit dingy - don't expect marble floors here. This isn't Club Letoonia!
Food was very variable. Occasional excellent meal but usually quite bland. Not really enough choice. Normally I filled up on the Mediterranean-style starters. Sunday lunch -yuk. Soggy Yorkshire puds and bland food. If some folk thought this was good, heaven knows what they eat at home.....
The extras were a pain. 4 liras for a dollop of ice cream??? I know this wasn't the Ritz but come on!!
Location spot on. In secluded area with forests and mountains as backdrop. 5-10 minutes walk away from very Brit-orientated town which is not at all yobby. Dolmus transport great. Friendly and embarrassingly cheap. Loads of ridiculously cheap and excellent excursions to be had. Book them yourselves - quite a bit cheaper than those sold by reps - and you can even haggle these prices down, too!!
I got my holiday half price off Latedeals.co.uk. So can't complain too much, but if I'd had to pay full price I would have been disappointed with value for money. They really should have an all inclusive option as running up a tab is a pain - although my bill was not too expensive and very accurate.
Would I return? Yes, but not paying the full price, plus I'd have to start smoking again and get loads of tattoos - ouch!

Jul 2007, Mrs SJ Wake

I have just returned, today actually, from the Asena Village and I can honestly say the best hotel I have ever stayed in. From the minute we arrived till we left we felt like family, the staff are fantastic.
Mike, David alfie and all the boys behind the bar are great and Ramzam and all the restaurant staff can’t do enough. The hotel manager joins in with everything from first thing in a morning till late at night.
The food was first class and the Sunday lunch, well, I would go back every Sunday just for this meal.
The rooms were clean and had clean towels everyday. Nothing is too much for anyone at the Asena.
I never go back to a place I have already been but am definitely going to go back here.
I would just say when and if you go to Olu Deniz beach you definitely need some beach shoes for going into the sea as it is very pebbly, so don't delay book today for the Asena cos once been you will definitely go again.

My husband and I have just come back...
7 / 10
May 2007, Mrs J James

My husband and I have just come back from the Asena Village and have to agree with some of the points put by the previous reviewer, but please read on, I'll explain the good and bad (as we saw it)!
We arrived in the afternoon and shown to a rather sparse and impersonal room (a little different to the room we were expecting from the photos we found on various searches).
Were rather disappointed with the bathroom, it was as almost as described below with a drip that originated upstairs and came from behind a wall, and, being in the bottom apartment, we heard pretty much everything that happened in the bathroom above!
But a change-over of neighbours, who kept different hours, improved the situation (we went to bed between 11-12pm).
The noisy music that we heard came from a neighbouring complex but stopped (or was turned down) at a reasonable hour.
But we decided as we were there we would make the most of it and we're glad we did.
The place, especially Hisaronu and surrounding area, grew on us and we were really sad to come home and have vowed to go back!
The poolside and evening entertainment, I agree, reminded me of a Butlins-style camp and threw us a little because we are not used to this, but having sat around and watched the fun (we were never harassed into joining in) it was obvious that people were really enjoying themselves (adults and children alike).
The food in the complex is great. A good variety for breakfast - traditional Turkish meats and cheeses, fresh and dried fruits, cereal and toast, and scrambled/ boiled eggs/ omelettes or pancakes on different days.
And a variety of dishes (traditional, salads and chips) for evening meals - all served buffet style in a relaxed and informal atmosphere by friendly and very helpful waiting staff.
Location is good, fabulous scenery all round (it's not in a built-up area) and it's only a 5-10 minute walk into the town where there are lots of restaurants and shops - if you're into gold jewellery and designer gear you'll be in heaven!
The dolmus (mini-buses) are a great, cheap (usually around 5 lira for 2 people) way to get around and do some sight-seeing, destinations are displayed on the windscreen - just stick your hand out and jump on! An experience not to be missed.
Just a note, not having been to Turkey before, and not being familiar with Muslim customs, the 5am call to prayers from the Mosque (lasting a few minutes) was a bit of a shock! I thought I would mention this as it has not been mentioned in any reviews I have read and may fore-warn the unenlightened like ourselves.
If having read the above this kind of holiday appeals to you, please go - you are bound to have a great time. If not - look elsewhere. Good luck.
