May 2008, Miss S Kaur

Dont know what everyones complaining about, this was the best holiday ever. The friendly staff David, Ramadam,Erdam and girlfriend,Mali and the rest put the icing on the cake. we would definately go back. for your information the food was great and there were showers next to the swimming pools. the entertainment was great and there was a fire show with fire. the pool was clean we watched it get clean every night. Our hotel room was spotless but basic, but who wants to go on holiday and sit in their room all day. cant wait to go back!!!!!!!!

We arrived at the Asena Village on...
6 / 10
Oct 2007, melissa1

We arrived at the Asena Village on the 12th oct 07 early hours of the morning.
We were upgraded to a family room for free as we had an infant on the booking, the room was massive sleeping upto 5 and it was just me and my partner and infant.
The first day we decided to take a walk to Hisaronu town it takes approx 10mins to walk into town which is fine if you’re not going to be doing it like 4 times a day, which we was, so it got a bit too much, we didn’t try the breakfast so can’t comment on that.
The hotels entertainment is great the pools were freezing and everyone in the hotel must have complained, the sea was much warmer.
The hotel overall is ok not the best and we wouldn’t return we got moved after being there for 5 days down to Olu Deniz as our daughter loved the beach and the sea was so much warmer for her.
The only downside to this hotel is there are a lot of teenage girls flocking around the Turkish men and they are all over them.

Would give the hotel 6/10.

I feel I must write something about...
3 / 10
Oct 2007, Mr A Entwistle

I feel I must write something about this hotel if you can call it that!
Everybody who has put good reviews about this hotel must have been at a different hotel than me.
Where do I start? Me and my girlfriend where really looking forward to this holiday having been to Asena beach which is far, far better.
Firstly the rooms ha, we seemed to have an ant farm in our room, it was disgusting! When we complained nothing was done, also the bathroom was horrible tiny and mouldy and the beds where so uncomfortable.
Then the pool area, well for some stupid reason there was about 60 sunbeds but about 40 were in the shade which I just couldn’t understand; you have an umbrella if you want to be in the shade you don’t need a tacky sheet hanging over you. The pool was too small to accommodate all the guests, and it was just generally not big enough.
The bars - The pool bar wasn't to bad but seemed to be infested with flies and I even saw frogs jumping about in the kitchen, and all day long you had the annoying staff shouting something like chicken kebab last 10 mins then 1 hour later they where still shouting, and why anybody would want some of that when it was infested with flies is beyond me. I did try a salad and pizza one day but it was horrible.
The terrace bar is rubbish, has a worn down pool table, uncomfortable seats and not many at that and is again too small to accommodate everybody. We only went there 2 nights out of our 14 because it was boring, the entertainment started at 11pm; what’s all that about! and it was poor; a magician with no magic and a fire show with no fire.
Also watch out using you card that you pay for drinks and food with cause they sure con you, we had a massive row one night when we were charged £250 for 4 nights - I don’t think so!
The Bar Staff - well they are a couple that aren't too bad but the rest are slime balls, and aren't who they make out to be, there annoying and sometimes ignorant if your not doing what they want you to do. One night one of them even threatened to hit my Turkish friend who was from the Efes bar in Hisaronu (top, top pub - English like).
The Garden Bar - shuts at 9pm and it’s just boring tacky and rubbish, plain simple.
Also electric only comes on for about an hour every day (well it did in our room)
Hisaronu itself is great, visit the Bees Knees restaurant and Castello, also Peppinos; great stuff and of course the Efes bar - best bar in town.
My girlfriend and I had a top time in Hisaronu but as for the hotel definitely not again!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t know what all the bad...

Sep 2007, Miss K Pointon

I don’t know what all the bad reviews are about! This was my 5th time at this hotel and my 4th year. I go back every year with different people out of the family. We have already booked up for next year and are going twice.
The guys there are really friendly they have become like part of my family. I really think if you are reading this that you should go as it is great.
As with many guests I always get up and go dancing with the waiters. It is really good fun for all the family and of all ages.

This was the best holiday ever - you...

Sep 2007, Miss C Smith

This was the best holiday ever - you have to go! Don’t listen to any bad reviews.
I went with 3 friends and we had such a great time. The hotel is lovely and in a great location. Food is great, swimming pool is perfect and rooms were lovely. Maids did a great job and sprinkled our beds with petals!
Now the staff made the holiday. They were great; the entertainment was brilliant and discos in the bar till late, perfect!
The town is a five minute walk. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars. I loved it so much I’m going back in October for a few days, then planning on next year for my 21st!
P.S. The boat trips are worth a go.
Turkey is beautiful and would recommend it to anyone!

My family had a fantastic time in...
8 / 10
Sep 2007, Ms A Cadwell

My family had a fantastic time in Asena Village in June/July this year.
Mike the entertainments manager was excellent at including all the teenagers in the pool activities. Our 16 year old actually joined in and there was no stopping her after the first time! The bar staff and restaurant staff work exceptionally hard and look like they thoroughly enjoy themselves. The English Sunday lunch was awful, stick to the Turkish food which is very good.
We went out most nights as we like to try different things and it was cheap. The bar snacks around the pool are excellent. There weren't enough parasols around the pool (the temp reached 53C on one day), but the next day a large canopy was erected which was great; problem solved.
The apartments (we had 2 attached) were spacious, clean and comfortable. The shower room was clean also (we looked to be in the newer apartments). The cleaning staff were fab and kept our rooms spotless. We also had flowers and petals on our beds. The downside was the manager asking us if we wouldn't mind swapping rooms in the second week as they had overbooked. We did this and our cases etc were moved by the porter, however when we changed our mind (the apartment was not as good as the ones we had left and Jo's room - aged 16 had no door on), we had to move our cases back ourselves at 2am.
The poolside needs to have showers installed and the public toilets are inadequate.
Hirasonou village is a 10 minute walk away and has lovely restaurants. The trips are cheaper booked outside the hotel. The jeep safari wasn't as good as the ones we have been on in other areas of Turkey. It was on a Sunday and was very laid back, no throwing water over everyone, although the river walking was brilliant and extremely cold!
All in all we couldn't wait to go back but it would be fair to say that the hotel needs some refurbishment. The staff really make this a fabulous holiday and work so hard. The bar and restaurant staff dance routine is definitely not to be missed.

When I read these reviews I wonder...
3 / 10
Sep 2007,

When I read these reviews I wonder how views can be so different. Perhaps it’s down to peoples expectations.
This 'hotel' needs pulling down and rebuilding. Doors are dropping off, toilets not bolted down. Mould in the shower areas, curtains that do not fit the windows, battered decoration - it just goes on.
Food hit and miss - Monday and Tuesday were the pits.
No tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms, although you can hire a kettle I believe (see next point). You are strongly deterred from bringing your own water/food into the hotel, food ok, but water?
Cleaning staff - fantastic considering what they have to work with.
A point also to mention, some of the reception staff did not speak any English at all and trying to understand what they are telling you can be very difficult.
Now the real down side, the bar staff and the music. Pounding (and I mean p-o-un-n-d-i-n-g Turkish rap music at 3am is no fun for anybody unless you’re the bar staff. It is obvious that the management have no control over these people and no amount of begging will get the music turned down. It is obvious that these guy's run the place and they use it for their own entertainment and amusement.
The management want to seriously look at this element, I asked myself this question, would they put their families into the rooms near the bars for a week or so? I very much doubt it.
Also, check and recheck your bills. We know of a person who was charged a whopping £94.00 bar bill for two days of using the bar facilities, as the prices are not as clearly displayed and he failed to understand the actual cost.
Would I go back to this area? Yes - most definitely. Would I go back to this 'hotel' - I would rather have my teeth pulled out via my ears.
You have been warned...

Well what can I say about this...
10 / 10
Sep 2007, Miss K Rich

Well what can I say about this holiday.
I have been on a few holidays around the world from South Africa to a field with a tent and this year was my first year going to Turkey, I had heard a lot of different stories about turkey some were good and some were bad!
This wasn’t my choice of place but I got asked to go from a friend and her family I wasn’t sure at first, as of the place but thought I would go.
Well I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all the staff at the Asena village hotel, I have never felt so welcome at a hotel from the min I walked in to the min I left. The 2 weeks was an amazing time of my life.
There was a lot for us to do,
Water sports
Make new friends
Just relax in the sun
The bar staff were always walking round the pool checking everyone was ok!
In the evening there was a lot of entertainment that staff used to always try to get people to join in! But if you say no they would go and find someone else.
The food:
I’m a very fussy eater and I can say I never struggled on the food side. The different things from bbq, salads, meats and roast dinners well I had to make sure I had one of them as was missing out at home and omg what a very nice one it was!!
Restaurant staff were very friendly very talkative and also joined in on all the entertainment.
If you fancied having a change and eating out of the hotel there is a few nice places we visited:
Robin hood which we got told by someone in England about this restaurant
The Chinese which is opposite robin hood
The Mexican.
The staff:
They were very friendly and helped us on places to go. The manager was very helpful and very friendly always came and spoke to us when he seen us sat outside the terrace bar!
All the staff in Asena make you feel more like family and friends than guests. All the staff walk around the pool everyday and have a chat to the people to see how their holiday is and to say they hope they have a good day.
All the bar staff arranged for as many people as they could get to go on a night out in the town when they had finished if I remember there was about 15 people and bar staff ranging from 18-40.they showed us all the clubs and pubs which are good to go to!! After the night out they show us the famous kebab shop which everyone goes to at 6 in the morning when all the clubs are shut!
The staff worked very long hours usually 8 in the morning till 2 in the morning sometimes later until the last person had left
The rooms:
The room were very clean and were very simple.
We never had any trouble with any of the room, the maids were very friendly and they made the rooms very pretty with all the different shapes they made on our beds. Was beautiful when they used the real flowers and petals and a flower on our bedside table.
We went on the 6 island boat trip that was a very good deal very cheap and all the staff were friendly!
When we arrived we got told that in the second week they were celebrating the Asena villages birthday and that was an amazing experience to be part of it. Was celebrated by the poolside. Was a beautiful view with all the pool lights on eating the dinner watching shows:
Belly dancers
Magic shows
A cocktail show
The staff dance
The bubble show
And the end of the celebration a big thank you to all the staff and a big sign in flames with Asena village on.
The day we were leaving, was very emotional time as we had made a lot of friends and we were very friendly with the staff, they stayed up to say goodbye to us and wave us off at the coach and to wish us a safe journey home.
We loved our holiday so much that we are going back on Thursday 13th September for 2 weeks, the parents are coming for a week as they won a week’s holiday playing bingo. And me two of us are going back next year to work for 6 months.

Had a great holiday here, amazing...
7 / 10
Sep 2007, Mr L Jackson

Had a great holiday here, amazing temperatures and country - average 45 degrees! We liked it mainly because of the most wonderful staff we have ever met. So friendly and hard working, including the maids who even put flowers on your bed.
But please upgrade this hotel (it has more of an apartment feel really); as I think it is at risk of losing favour with holiday makers and Asena could quickly feel more two star than three. Many we spoke to agreed that - rooms are small and in need of refurbishment, especially the bathrooms - some poor finishing exists, cracked sink, old furnishing and generally in decline and smelly at times - hard for hard working maids to clean with holes in tiles around toilet - yuk! Much is starting to look tired - even the entrance signs.
No showers round pool - a must now in 2007 surely and not good if we are getting in the pool all dirty and sweaty constantly because of the heat? My son and I developed ear infections needing antibiotics and whilst we can’t say it was because of the pool water being dirty (the pool is rather small) it looked murky a little when we I had snorkel/goggles on. Not sure if proper bacteria testing is being done, and water treatment is religiously followed? A distinct lack of toilets in this complex - apart from your room, only one near pool and two upstairs - not good for 360 plus holiday makers. Buffet area is crowded - yet poor use of other buildings eg: lounge - there is talk of extending the buffet. Games room is poor. I was told that restaurant terrace chairs, which were uncomfortable cheap, white patio chairs are just being replaced little by little - one row a year. Many sun beds/cushions are worn and not enough brolleys - they fall over regularly. The garden area could be great, but looks tired too.
Entertainment in day and sometimes at night poor, despite a so called entertainment manager (English). The Turkish staff were the most entertaining - they were fabulous! Food was very good, except that half-boarders seem penalised - specials cost more and you have to pay for cooked english breakfast. Orange juice and ice cream are charged for too. One final warning to the owners - stop promoting your Lara Hotel in Antalya and invest in the Asena Village - your staff are your greatest asset but don’t rely on that alone.

Yet another fantastic holiday at...
10 / 10
Sep 2007, Mrs Donna Hammond

Yet another fantastic holiday at Asena Village. By the end of the two weeks there were 34 of us regular and new users of Asena - our ages ranged from 4 to 49 - and every one had an excellent time.
I could not fault any of the staff. David and his team worked really hard, well actually everyone did. We are definitely going back next year - my 18yr old son is going to work there. I got a neck massage from the manager as I was sitting and watching the water polo, not many managers do that.
The food was excellent and will definitely recommend this for a family holiday. My mum in late 60s and five of her friends are going out in May as she has heard so much about it.
Thanks again Asena Village - top holiday.
