This is a great all inclusive family hotel, most popular with the Scandinavians and it didn't disappoint one bit. The best stuff: It is huge, the pools are well equipped and the food is plentiful and of good quality. Its family friendly. Lots of shops and bars nearby. 11... more

The hotel room was clean and tidy but thats the only good point. Firstly the hotel was full of Germans, Dutch, Danish, this would have been fine if they hadn't have been so rude. As we were one of the only British couples staying. They were looking at us as if we had two... more

If it wasn't for the fact i came home from this holiday with Salmonella D i'd probably have given a higher rating. I wasn't the only person who took ill at this hotel. I've been home for a week & i'm still on medication. Please don't stay at this hotel.

Rooms are excellent, plenty of space and c leaned 6 out of 7 days. Pools fantastic and not over crowded for peak times. Weather hot but cool breeze every day which makes it a bearable climate. The only down side was the food, although edible there was not a lot of variety.... more

on our honeymoon
we stayed here in oct 2003, my husband booked it as a surprise honneymoon as he knew i loved greece so much, the hotel was really nice, clean and the staff were friendly. the hotel is right on the beach there are a few shops and pubs up the road and its only 25 mins to rhodes town, the old town and harbour are lovely. the hotel was quiet when we were there as it was out of season but it was nice as we had the pool to our selfs most days i would not want to go here in season as i think it would be cramped. i would say this was a nice friendly hotel and great out of season if you just want to chill out and for familys in season
A fantastic holiday
I had read the reviews for this hotel after booking and went there a little worried. I am happy to say we had the best holiday ever. I feel compelled to write this review to defend the hotel against the negative comments written by the narrow minded, complaining "Victor Meldrews" of the UK. 1. The Hotel was well decorated and very clean. 2. The rooms were spacious, and comfortable (air conditioning is free in summer) 3.Staff were very friendly and helpful in all areas. 4. The animation team had activities for all ages and worked extremely hard, to try and make something for everyone. 5.There were lots for different nationalities, if you don't like that, don't holiday abroad!!! 6. The food was excellent, dining room had themed nights eg Italian, Oriental, Fish. The bar snacks ranged from burgers, paninis and pastas to a fresh salad bar. 7. We really enjoyed the evening entertainment, which was provided by the same team doing activities all day, yet they remained enthusiastic and lots of fun. If you holiday at this hotel and don't enjoy it, then its your fault not theres. We are going to book for next year
what is included is not really included unless you ask for it
1.The weather is terribly hot. Therefore aircondition should be part of the deal without paying extra for it especialy at summer time. 2. After 5-6 p.m there was not water for bathibg. My son found himself in the bath with soap ( it was not soap opera!!!). 3. The mini bar was free for us. We didn't get anything- only 1 day (from 5) after we asked about it. 4. There are not interesting activities for kids that are 8-10 years old. the machines take too much money and give very law minutes to play. Do you study them to gamble??? it should be more organized. We come for fun that was promised but was not exist in fact. At nights the shows were very dull. 2 things were nice i must say. 1. food was very good. 2. I had a birthday and i found in my room a bottle of wine. I thanked them. I hope that the management read my remarks and will change the situation for better to those that think to come.
Do not go
Stayed there last October, hotel was almost empty so the All In thing did not work so we had to eat elsewhere. Better for us though, as food was disgusting. Certainly not a 4*. I would say 2*. Hotel is old and needs renovation, staff polite but tired and ineffective. Will go Greece this year, but will not stay there again
Hotel Fab - if not for the food
This Hotel states it is a 4*. I have never stayed all inclusive before, so i shall give you my opinion first...... Animation team - great. 8 people, entertainment every night, they made a real effort to entertain. The DJ (from Iran or somewhere similar is fantastic) Drinks & snacks - Basic drinks, some int brands. Snacks were good. Accommodation - Loads of wardrobe space, massive bed, 2 rooms and lovely bathroom. Staff - Lovely!! Much more friendly than the Spanish. Facilities - beach and pool games are great if you like to join in. Pool Area - Loads of loungers, but , make sure you get up early to get the best position as all loungers are covered by parasols which cannot be moved and the shade is more likely than the sun. Food - Now for the bad news....repetitive, overcooked, deserts same every night. Beach - section for Forum Beach guests with free loungers, all inc bar and pedaloes etc. The guests were really friendly. Lots of Dutch and Danish, and towards the middle of our holiday a lot of English and Scottish!! Other people we met who were regulars at All Inclusive resorts said that this hotel, in comparison to others was a bad attempt at an All Inc. To summarise - for the price (our holiday was relatively cheap), i would say it is well worth visiting if only for the free drinks and snacks through the day. The Hotel is only 6 years old apparently, and i think it is well decorated - reception is marble, a spiral staircase and water feature. The only bar not included in all inc also has lots of leather sofas and a massive tv for chilling out. Everything was fantastic apart from food. If you can handle the repetitiveness, please try this hotel. 4* for hotel 3* for food
Everybody loves Raymond's Brother (but not the Forum Beach)
Well, where shall we start? As per the other reviews, the Forum Beach has several big problem that cannot justify it being a 4*. However, there were some redeeming qualities that are worth noting too. So, to the 'BAD THINGS' first: This includes 1) Room was unavailable on arrival (we arrived at 1400Hrs, room was not ready until 1900Hrs) and even then it was more an apartment than a hotel room. This was a recurring theme with other guests. 2) Although we were 'Ultra-All Inclusive', we were still expected to pay for Air Con (@ €9 per day) and a safe (@ €50 for the 2 weeks). Mini-golf and pool tables cost too. Not so All Inclusive after all! 3) Severe limitations on food range and of poor quality (e.g. same food everyday, no Greek food!!!! and catered for a German/Dutch clientele). This also includes the pool bar snacks (Only had hotdogs, burgers, pizza [sometimes] and toasties). The a/i wine tastes like a bad vinegar, the cola isn’t pepsi/coke and don't expect to see a cup of tea until your on the plane home. If you are lucky enough to stumble across a teabag and hot water, I hope you enjoy condensed milk!!!!!! I cannot rant on enough about the food aspect of the hotel - we went out almost every other night to eat out which kind of defeats the purpose of all inclusive. And if I see another frankfurter sausage or slice of ham for breakfast as enjoyed by our European friends I will scream. If you go, do Room Only. 4) Being situated on a final approach flight path [low enough to read the serial numbers on the undercarriage!!!!!!!!!] was interesting and on occasions noisy, but it's strange how you get used to it!!! 5) Although the 4 pools appear clean, the pool sides are unpleasant and in need of replacing (e.g. mouldy, litter-stained and ill-fitting). 6) The free water sports (pedaloes & canoes) were never seen. Each time we asked to use them we were fobbed off with some lame excuse (e.g. sea too rough, it's a day ending in Y etc) and told to return later....this is a total con!. 7) Beware of the frequent power cuts - They don't last long, but we avoided the lifts just to be safe. 8) The free gym was nothing more than a unairconditioned (!) box room with a couple of old cycling/running machines that some kids play on during the day out of boredom. 9) If you find another British person, congratulations and get that towel on the lounger early..ve have warned you (ja!) 10) BINGO BINGO I LOVE YOU...This song is a form of conditioning and mental torture played every night after mini-disco by the compare that is the double of the brother in 'Everybody Loves Raymond'. If you're stuck with the kids its okay, but it’s not good for couples. And now to the GOOD THINGS: This includes: 1) The Spa treatments (at reduced rate if Ultra A/I) were very good 2) The main bar, although you have to pay for drinks, was good and Demetri the barman was great. 3) The entertainment team were great, albeit aimed at the kids. Catherine, Hayley and Co worked very hard 4) You get CNN and check out Channel 9 for the dancing 5) 'Raymond's Brother' can speak 6+ languages and is very impressive SUMMARY: Although these comments may seem harsh, we genuinely believe this is a fair and honest review and hope it is useful to others. Best Wishes A+J
FORWARNED IS FORARMED!
After having spent 8 days and 7 nights at the Forum Beach Hotel, Ilaysos, Greece, I can assure you that this is not by any means, a FOUR star hotel in my book. It’s too bad I didn’t run a search on the hotel until AFTER our trip was booked and paid for. Hopefully for others reading this, they won’t make the same mistake. We arrived at the hotel on Sunday (6 Aug 06) at about 1030 AM. We had booked three rooms/apartments for our vacation. (One for our friends; one for our daughter and her friend; and the other for my wife and myself.) Upon checking in at the front desk we were told that only two of three the rooms were ready. We allowed our friends and daughter to take these two rooms and we would wait for the third room. The desk clerk told us that the room should be ready “around 12:00”. We went and put our luggage in our daughter’s room waiting for the noon hour. Come noon we checked in at the reception desk about our room and was told it would be about “20 more minutes”. Okay, fine we thought. We’ll continue to sit by the pool and sip our drinks from our “all inclusive” package. It was then we noted that the hotel was in the flight path of all the planes coming into the nearby commercial/military airport. Needless to say this was the final approach to the runway so you can imagine just how LOW these jets were to the area. After 20 minutes we again checked in with the front desk. “Twenty minutes” more we were told. We went back to counting passengers on the low flying jets. Finally at about 2:30 we were told “five more minutes”! We decided to head to the room at this announcement. When we got to the room we were surprised to see that the housekeepers had not yet arrived to begin cleaning the room after the last occupants left. Suffice to say we were finally able to take our shoes off and stretch out on the bed at about 3:15. It was shortly thereafter that my wife dropped her sunglasses from the balcony of our fourth floor “apartment”. She said a hotel worker picked them up. When I enquired at the front desk if someone had turned in a pair of sunglasses I was given someone else’s glasses. I sure hope the worker made good use of those glasses! What a start to an “all-inclusive” vacation week. During our stay we noted numerous cockroaches throughout the hotel complex. On one particular morning at breakfast we noted on climbing on the back of a guest’s chair in the dining room. We also noted that the housekeepers failed to sweep a walkway in front of the 500 area of the hotel in which we had counted five dead roaches along this walkway. There they laid for several days! As the area had many loose dogs roaming the streets, some of them invariably found their way to the hotel complex. On several occasions we observed stray dogs running/walking through the complex near the pool and the www.bar.com area. We have no idea if these dogs were up to date on their vaccinations (I doubt it personnaly) and wondered what would happen had a child been bitten. (The hotel had two German Shepherds on the premises but they were in a fenced off area accessible to the public and to which a child could touch/pet.) The food left something to be desired. With 700+ guests it was a mad dash for the buffet line/serving dishes. It seemed the menu choices were the same about every two days. As someone noted previously, there was only one machine for fountain drinks. Amazing! The place mats on the outside dining tables as well as the table cloths on the inside dining tables were filthy! Spills, dried food, etc.. (Also not once did the hotel serve Baclava for dessert. Geez I thought this was a Greek hotel. I will say the ice cream was good though!) It was apparent that there were not enough employees to effectively manage a hotel of this size/number of guests. As far as the beach goes it was probably to be expected. Dirty, trash strewn, and ignorant people! Hotel policy stated guests were not to lay towels or other items on the lounges in order to “save” them. It would appear the majority of the guests could not understand this policy as almost all lounges, on the beach and by the pools, were toweled by 8:00 am.daily. When we told several shopkeepers where we were staying they had nothing good to say about this hotel. Instead we were told about where we SHOULD HAVE booked/stayed (The Blue Horizon or the Forum (just “Forum”)). Ialyssos Beach is a beautiful area and we would go to the area again tomorrow if we could! So for those reading this review, think twice before you book at this hotel. Remember forwarned is forearmed!
nice hotel but a week was enough
we arrived at the hotel at 6am on 22 of july 2006 very friendly at reception lovely people the greeks more so to us english me and my girl friend had alovely week nice food friendly staff very clean hotel beach was stoney, very quiet island alot of german and dutch that was a main problam for this place for us being brits. we wont be going back to rhodes but will be go back to greece beautifull country.
Never again
This is never a 4* category Hotel we endured 2 weeks of noise mainly from the French and Germans the food in the A/ Inclusive restaraunt was never hot it was exposed to flies and we had birds flying in and out of the dining area yet the hotel itself was very clean pool area well kept and plenty of sun beds beach across the road was OK but not all was free as an Ultra A/Inclusive we still had to pay for all cocktails, air/ con and import drinks some people were charged for bottled water at the main bar you had to pay for all your drinks my advice to anyone is avoid this hotel YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. a Cardiff Traveller
Not my idea of a 4* All Inclusive
We have just returned from 1 week All Inclusive at this hotel! We should have had water sports included in the All Inclusive, but they were not available, maybe the following week, maybe the week after was the reply when I queried when it would open. Only one of the 3 All Inclusive bars was open which was where the entertainment team conducted their 'entertainment' (dancing competitions, bingo, Mr Forum Beach etc). This was the www.bar which was very rowdy and cold as it was partly open air. We ended up paying for our drinks at one of the other bars which was a lot more relaxing. It was amazing how many of the other British guests were also doing so by the end of the week. The hotel was probably about 90% Dutch, some of whom brought their countrys' flag to breakfast with them to decorate the table! I asked about the air conditioning but was told that it wasn't switched on until the 1st July and then it was 9 Euros per day. Included in the Ultra All Inclusive package, we received a 50 Euro discount to be used in the spa. Great - until you see the price list - 75 - 85 euros for a massage! The most amazing thing of the week was the queing in the resturant and the disorganisation of crockery, cutlery, drinks. At every sitting, regardless of the time we arrived to eat, we queued! The problem was that all the food was laid out in one long line rather than the starters (salad) being in one area and the main dishes in another area, so regardless of what you wanted you queued. One evening, to beat the queueing, we decided to sit outside the resturant before it opened at 7.00pm (sad, I know). We arrived at 6.45 pm and there were approximately 60 people in front of us!!! At most sittings there was a shortage of coffee cups (coffee was only available at breakfast by the way) and we had to stand around waiting for clean coffee cups to be brought out, the same for glasses, dessert spoons, tea spoons and wine. The standard of the food I would describe as canteen rather than 4 * and being vegetarian lived on pasta all week. Actually, in the end we gave up and ate out for the last few nights. We also saw and spoke to other English All Inclusive guests either eating out or fetching pizza from the local shop for the same reason The beach that the hotel is set on was being cleaned up as we were there but it is very stoney and extremely windy and therefore was empty. This is a factual report of our week spent at the Forum Beach Hotel. The staff were very friendly and very helpful and the hotel was very clean. The mini bar in the room was filled up every 2nd day with a small bottle of water, cola and orange and two small cans of beer.
