WOW!!! We had the most fantastic time...
10 / 10
Nov 2006, Mrs L Wardle

WOW!!! We had the most fantastic time at Club Asteria, Belek. We usually get a self catering apartment somewhere, but this year decided to go AI, plus it was also our 1st time in Turkey.
Club Asteria was just wonderful. We have 3 children aged 8, 9 & 12 and they were entertained from dusk till dawn. The teenage club (run by Oben) was a complete god send! My son was totally catered for and tried his hand at rifle shooting, archery, wall climbing and water volleyball as well as many more activities.
The pools at the complex are HUGE and plentiful (3 in all). Beach / pool towels provided every day for everyone. The sea was very child-friendly and the beach immaculately cleaned (every night!!!).
The whole animation team at the hotel worked their socks off and the evening performances were amazing considering they were not professional entertainers. When they got time to rehearse the complicated dance routines still remains a mystery!
The food at Club Asteria was gorgeous. Exceptionally varied and very plentiful. The choice each day was amazing. ALL the staff in the complex were so very helpful, friendly, attentive, and basically couldn't do enough for you.
The hotel is pretty isolated, however a bus / tractor (!!) stopped regularly outside to take you, for a minimal fare, to the nearest town where there were a few shops and market twice a week. Or from there you could get transport to larger towns. There were trips arranged by Thomson which apparently were very good, but with 3 kids we were just happy mooching around the complex and going for walks along the beach.
All in all - we couldn't recommend Club Asteria more! In fact, on our return, we booked to go next year!!! And this is coming from someone who swore never to return to the same holiday destination twice!!

I would recommend this hotel to...

Oct 2006, Miss RJ Lucock

I would recommend this hotel to families as well as couples, or groups of friends. This was the first time we had been to Turkey and we were very impressed.
The hotel was stunning and you were never bored of things to do. We had a slight problem with the rooms we booked and this was sorted by the reception staff within a matter of hours.
The food is excellent as there is a wide range of things for everyone. We especially enjoyed the Chinese meal at the a la carte restaurant. The food, service from staff and the setting was first class.
The animation team was superb, by the end of the holiday the whole family had made friends with them and they were very entertaining. The pool games and evening shows were amazing also, a real highlight of the holiday.
There were quite a few English families at the hotel, as well as Russian, French and German and it was really nice because everyone mixed in well and had good fun. Being 17, I wanted to go to the disco and had so much fun, the animation team were there and everyone just danced the night away. The music was really good as they played lots of new English songs. The pool was lovely and if you don’t enjoy the pool with activities and music around it, the smaller pool is very relaxing and quiet too. The water sports on the beach just by the hotel were good fun.
The holiday was just terrific and we would definitely go back again.

I have just returned from my 3rd trip...
10 / 10
Sep 2006, Mr R Pendlebury

I have just returned from my 3rd trip to Club Asteria. We arrived at 2am in the morning, which I know can be a bit of a chore, but was met at the airport by our Thomson Rep Kerry, with a warm and friendly smile. What a lovely way to be greeted, especially at that time in a morning. It made you feel that although it was early hours in the morning and you wanted to go to bed, you really felt that your holiday had started. She was very understanding about how we all must have been feeling, but soon made us all feel welcome. Once she had checked us all onto the coach, we then started on our 30 minutes transfer to the hotel. On the coach, Kerry came round with our registration forms to fill in, along with our towel and credit cards for the hotel. It may seem that it's the last thing you want to do filling out forms, but it saves a good 30 minutes at check in when you arrive. (Great idea Kerry, bonus points for that one) During the transfer, Kerry explained about the check in procedures, about the hotel, the history of Turkey which I found quite enlightening, and other various information that you may need. Normally I don't listen to the blurb on the coach, I just go to sleep, but this was different. It wasn't scripted like most transfers, it was useful and interesting information. I even found out new things even though this was my 3rd trip this year.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by Tiffanies from Guest Relations, along with cocktails. Check in took no time, we gave the porters our room number which they wrote on our bags, and then they delivered them to our room within 20 minutes. (Well worth a small tip)
When our bags had been delivered, we decided to go for a stroll around the hotel (about 3am) where we bumped into Tiffany and Kerry. They asked if we were settled. My travel partner explained that she was a bit hungry after the trip. They took us to the bar where Tiffany organised sandwiches, what service.
The food at the hotel is amazing. I am quite a fussy eater, but I was never without good cooked food. There is plenty for everyone, (even a diet buffet which I found useful towards the end of the holiday) The Chinese was great, they even brought out a birthday cake for my friend which was organised by Tiffany. (Nice touch Tiffany, thank you)
The Hotel itself is surrounded by beautiful planting. It is very tropical, great surroundings and very clean. You never want to leave the complex. The cleaners work so hard, not just in your room, but all around the complex. I saw them at 5am, cleaning down the seating area, at least 3 times during the week.
The Bar staff and waiters are great, if you order a drink from a waiter, be patient. The bar is very busy at night, especially after the show has finished. But they do get to you in the end. (TIP you might want to double up on your orders after a show)
The entertainment is brilliant. I was a bit shy to try any of the activities when I first arrived. I was surprised with how many activities I enjoy. (ANOTHER TIP have a go, it does make a difference to your holiday, promise) The animation team work so hard entertaining you not only through the day with the activities, but also during the night with the great and funny shows. Again, if they ask you to take part in a show, don't be shy give it a try!! There is something for all the family, and all ages. The mini club team and the teenager club team work so hard through the day to entertain the children. Things you might want to Try: Crazy Darts with SONER at 11.15. He is great fun, one of the best animators there. Air rifle and archery with SUNGIZ (not sure about the spelling of the name) Shuffle Board with ENGIN (Only speaks little English but is very sweet) the pool games at 12pm with all of the animation. The games are great fun.
HIGHLIGHTS OF MY HOLIDAY:
Meeting so many nice people, KERRY our rep, who can I say in my 10 years of travelling, she has to be one of the best reps I have had the pleasure of meeting. TIFFANIE from Guest Relations, who also went out of her way to make you feel welcome. The animation team for making our holiday so much fun, especially SONER who was the star animator on our holiday, Engin and Sungiz. And so many more people whose names I forget. Oh and Oben, mustn’t forget him (what a great chap)
If you get the chance to go to this superb hotel, you will have a great time. I could go on all day about this holiday, but don't want to give it all away, you need to experience it for yourself.
Tip: if you like shopping, you can get the local bus to the next village (1 euro or 50 cent ytl) it is only 5 minutes away or look on the board outside the hotel, and get the bus to Side or Antayla this is priced from 6 euros return. You can also order a pack lunch from reception so you don't even have the expense of buying lunch.
Have a great time, and hope you enjoy your holiday as much as I did.

I went to club Asteria and I...

Aug 2006, Miss J Brown

I went to club Asteria and I absolutely loved it! It was the best time of my life. There is something for everyone to do. The atmosphere is brilliant. I was reluctant to leave!
The staff were really friendly and did anything and everything for you to make sure your drinks were always topped up, or you had everything you needed for your meals! Some of the staff were always on their feet all day and all night they work really hard.
The animation team are absolutely brilliant! Always making people laugh and keeping people entertained. I made really good friends with loads of them as they can speak quiet good English, as well as lots of other languages. They always make sure you enjoy your holiday.
The hotel itself was gorgeous! With all the gardens surrounding it, it was beautiful. I also felt really safe within the complex...I never got scared waling to my room at night even with me only being 16. I felt really safe.
The food was excellent, there was such a good range of different foods on. If you didn’t want to try something exotic or different you could also just stick to good old pizza and chips! There was always nice food on all way throughout the day.
The disco at night included everyone so if your thinking it was just for younger people it wasn’t!! Everyone joined in and that made it better! I really looked forward to the disco I always had a really good time!
The hotel was full of people from all over, French, Italian, German, Russian, Dutch and English.
I met a good group of English people from all over England some from Barnsley (which is my next home town!) Milton Keynes and south London. Even the people from different countries could all talk some English so you could talk to any one really!
I really, really enjoyed club Asteria and I am definitely going back next year! And I definitely recommend it!

Aug 2006, sunworshipper

This place is really nice with the hotel beach and the nice pools and the palm trees everywhere, a bit too much shade for me though. The staff are brill kept us entertained most of the time.
Nice selection of drinks as well all inclusive is the best thing because you can just keep drinking day and night me and my mates had little if any sleep the whole holiday. Still have a hangover! not much outside the hotel if you want a break from clubbing and bars and stuff come here otherwise you might be a bit bored as there is a LACK of these here, but with the alcohol and your requested music form the dj you can make your own fun.
Nice and hot as well, air con was really good, as was the restaurants especially Italian and Turkish. Anyone know any of the animation team or other staff? Would love to chat email me and share any holiday experiences at this hotel. lisa x

The worst holiday ever, would never...
1 / 10
Jul 2006, matthew67

The worst holiday ever, would never book with Thomson again. Birds hopping over the bread rolls, pecking at these and other food in the restaurant buffet. Birds also fly onto people’s tables and peck the food off their plates while they go to get other things.
The bottled mineral water placed on the tables at mealtimes had been already opened so you had no idea if it was actually mineral water or whether they had filled it up with tap water. No vegetarian food.
It's not peaceful and relaxing as stated in Thomson’s book; lots of yelling by the DJ's during the day around the pool in German and Russian; not much English at all. Animation team walk through the restaurant yelling as loud as possible at mealtimes trying to get the children to join in; a large conga line formed every time with both the team and the kids yelling. We were disturbed at all meals.
Glasses at bar not washed, just rinsed under tap, no washing up liquid, then left to drain on side. Quite often got served a drink in a glass soaking wet inside and out from just being rinsed. This is not hygienic.
No balcony as requested. Mini bar fridge in the room not restocked at all, arrived to find half finished bottles of coke in from the previous people staying in the room. Bins emptied but liners not changed. Must have had the same ones in them for months, absolutely stunk, Disgusting.
The welcome meeting is just all about the trips & excursions; beware they are expensive and the rep did not accompany us on the tour; we were just dropped at the place and left for 2 hours. Had no idea what part of the old town we were in or what the statues and monuments were of.

Jul 2006, Miss R Deady

The hotel was orientated (organised) the staff were great and the food was very good the weather was hot.
The facilities were good but if you were under 18 you go to mini clubs which wasn’t that bad the animation were entertaining and friendly the receptionist were great because they could help you a lot. The day trips are great going to Antalya not much to do but it was conditioned to be very homeless place when you go to the toilet you have to pay. I went to swim with dolphins it was amazing .you should go to Turkish bath.
I went to the Turkish bath in Hamam Palace was very relaxing and steamy and feel free to go a sleep for the massage they wont mind.
The evening entertainment is very good and the guys are very street at there dancing doing all the moves which I cant do oh yeah I’m a girl. anyways the animators are very energetic and you need that for your holiday so you enjoy your self more. Once your out of the gates be careful!

Went out 12stone and came back...

Jun 2006, Mr John Matthews

Went out 12stone and came back 15stone. You can eat and drink virtually anytime of the day or night. Food excellent and very varied, especially like the separate lowdown serving area for the children. The grounds are very colourful and well maintained with plenty of shade. The beach is good with plenty of free sun beds.
Also 2 bars/snack bars by beach to keep up the calories plus the fruit trolleys come round all day. Didn't spend a penny on food or drink at all. The only charges are for water sport and the more specialised massages.
Excellent for children who have their own play area with swimming pool and water slide. The girls who operate the clubs really look after the kids.
The evening shows, set in an open air amphitheatre, are a bit amateurish but entertaining
Must go to the Turkish Bath-Hamam Palace and have a ride into town on the open air tractor/trolley. Would recommend.

Fantastic hotel. So peaceful,...

Apr 2006, Mrs A Phippen

Fantastic hotel. So peaceful, wonderful food laid out nicely. Welcoming atmosphere for families. In the day my husband and I had breakfast which was a splendid; a selection
of sweet breads and fruit. We had a nice time playing tennis as well. Great live band playing Turkish music in the evening. Candle lit tables in the evening.
My husband and i celebrated our silver wedding anniversary here, we had a special cake and it was spectacular. The quiet pool was great for us as the main pool was noisy with children splashing. We were lucky enough to meet Julie and Karl from Glasgow who shared there anniversary with us. There aren’t many English people here. The entertainment was more for little children and families but it was a good effort we enjoyed it.
We had a great time here in the nice shaded pool area with a nice cup of tea and some fresh melon. We never needed to go outside the hotel as we enjoyed the peace in Asteria, no noisy bars just one small disco by the beach it was nice for us to relax in the disco and look at the waves on the shore.

This hotel is a well kept, clean...

Apr 2006, Miss S Rudland

This hotel is a well kept, clean hotel. The gardens are attractive, the restaurants were pleasant. The staff are nice. In the day time there are sports and things to do such as pedalo boats and football, tennis etc, part from these activities there is not much to else to do. We went to Asteria with a few friends during our college break.
We chose Asteria because in the brochure it looked quite nice. This hotel is located in Belek, the dolmus takes you there, there are a few small shops, not a great deal there, and Antalya is not exactly walking distance, so unless you want to spend lots of money on taxis and bus's and going out perhaps drinking or to bars, clubs, or other restaurants then you can stay in Asteria but its obviously meant to be relaxing and as it is all inclusive it seems pretty pointless to go outside the hotel very often especially as there’s not much to do there anyway.
If you want a relaxed pleasant, not very exciting or fun holiday maybe with your family, then Asteria is the one for you. But if you are not going with your family then you would most certainly be bored as there’s not a huge amount to do. There is a Disco at the hotel and a pool bar but after a couple of hours it gets dull. The atmosphere is more for older people or couples, not really our thing.
I agree with all the comments above though. Other then that everyone there was nice. I wouldn’t go back again because I want to go somewhere not so far away from bars and shops and restaurants but I recommend it totally if you don't want any fuss and you just want to chill in the sun amongst Germans its a really international atmosphere not any English people there really when we went, just a few old couples.

My friends and I went to Asteria...
5 / 10
Jul 2005, Miss K Chapman

My friends and I went to Asteria (five of us) for ten days. the food was good but to be a honest we wish we went somewhere else.
We are all between the ages of 17 and 21 and we decided to go here because I've stayed in Antalya before but we didn't realise how isolated it was. But Asteria is about 40-50 mins drive to Antalya! and its so much better to stay somewhere less isolated then Asteria because we were quite bored. if you are a group of teenagers or students looking for a fun holiday then DONT go to Asteria because the only thing to do in the night time is go to the disco. it starts at 11 and finishes at 2.30. the music is very repetitive and not really our thing. Even though the hotel is very big not that many people go, only the animation team, because they have to and jolly older people showing of their moves! but it gets pretty dead, and there’s nothing to do.
Asteria is a great hotel for families and children because its a relaxing holiday. there is an animation team who entertain the kids and the night time entertainment is for families and kids and its hard to get if your English because a majority of the people who go to Asteria were German and Russian. When we went they was very very few English people and even though the staff spoke good English we soon realised that Asteria was not for us. the beach is great and there are two pools, a quiet pool on the beach by the disco.
There was another massive pool in the hotel which was good but the music they play by the pool is very childish which is why Asteria is so good for kids and families!!! alot of people said the kid’s club was good! Asteria is quite isolated, there’s a little town Kadriye which you can get the Dolmus (bus) to but we were just disappointed because it doesn’t really have the facilities we needed; the beach was privately owned on the hotel, so we saw the same people everyday and even though new people come to the hotel every week it just got very repetitive and dull. being students we would have liked to have met more people our age but we didn’t and the ones we did meet were German.
The animation team were excellent entertainment for the kids and they put on evening shows like Aladdin which they would love but anyone between the ages of 16 and 25 who is single, I'm sorry you would be bored and disappointed. however I fully recommend it to families with small kids, and to couples seeking a relaxing laid back time. so just thought I'd warn people our age because I wouldn't want anyone to face the disappointment we did! just remember when you’re reading the brochure is says for families and couples seeking a relaxing holiday! That’s definitely who its for!
