If you wish to spend much money getting there, like watered down whiskey, enjoy having air-con that will not cool your room below 25 degrees, and enjoy cold or cool food even when you are first to get into food area, then Thallassa village is for you, this was our third visit here within 4 years and by far the worst, oh and as for kirsti the first choice rep, you may as well complain to any of the many cats that will join you around your tables.

After booking this holiday in January with my boyfriend, what with the troubles that were going off and some of the reviews we were reading. Needless to say we were not looking forward to it. After arriving we were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted in reception and had a cold glass of orange juice and lemon juice brought to us whilst we filled paper work out. We were then given our keys and a ported took our cases and shown us our rooms.
The room was spacious, to single beds put together as a double, a good en-suite room and a little outside area with chairs, a table and a rack to dry wet towels and swimwear. You have a Television in the room, operational without a remote and an Air-Conditioning unit, which a remote can be had with a 10TDN deposit.
We arrived mid-day, after unpacking and a much needed nap, it was mid-afternoon and we still managed to find sun-beds both at the pool area and at the beach. There are people walking up and down the beach trying to sell you little nic-nacs, as well as people within the resort trying to sell you the same trips as the Travel agencies doing excursions, if you just stick with saying ‘No’, they get the message and leave you alone.
The place is set out like a little village, but you get a map in your room and places are sign-posted, so you learn your way around quickly.
The food area was nice. I am an extremely fussy eater, but there was things everyday that I found appealed to me, my boyfriend tried the Tunisian speciality everyday, some he liked others he didn’t, but that is what you expect. As soon as you sit at a table, waiters will come over to take your drink order and get them for you. There was a main bar area, which you could get cold drinks from, they did on the odd occasion at night, run out of Coke or Sprit, but other soft drinks and beers were available.
From some of the views, yes the British are the minority at this resort, most of the other guests were German, Russians and French, as well as other Europeans. Get rid of your prejudices and prejudgements against German people and French people, I found no-one at this resort rude and pushy. The one person I did find rude and an embarrassment however, was a Scottish man, who thought it was ok to shout at the staff and act like an imbecile. Luckily, my boyfriend can speak German, so he was able to converse quite easily with the staff, although, it did confuse them as to whether they should speak German or English to us.
We were meant to go on a trip on the Friday we were there, but it got cancelled due to a lack of interest from people, instead we went on the ‘Noddy’ Train, or ‘Happy’ Train, which was 10TDN for a return into Monistir, a rep goes with you, ours was good at keeping people from hassling you on the streets and even went into shops with you to stop you getting hassled.
This hotel is set away from shopping area’s, so if you are looking for an active holiday, look elsewhere. But if you enjoy relaxing, this is a perfect holiday, there is a small shop within the resort, the staff in there are relaxed and are more than happy to let you browse.
There is a main ‘active’ pool, two children pools and a quieter pool, we used this pool. There are plenty or sun-beds around the pool at any given time and plenty of sun-beds on the beach with Umbrella’s. We figured out that there must be two maids, one that collects dirty towels and replaces them and one that cleans and makes the beds.
I would advise people going to take mosquito spray, I got bit twice on the first night there, and had an allergic reaction to a bite, the area went red and swollen, but the rep reassured me that she had seen many before and it was nothing to worry about. I brought some mosquito spray from the little shop and never got bit for the rest of the holiday.
The holiday overall was fantastic. We had fun trying to find some of the things other people were complaining about, we didn’t find many. Don’t believe everything you read, some people expect more or too much from a holiday, a holiday is what you make it, you make the holiday. :)

Just come back from tunisia and except from the lovely wheather it was a dissapointing holiday.
Soon that we walk into the room the spots on the walls and the dust and dirty lenjerie made us think that it will be horrible.
Than despite the fact that the resort was all inclusive the restaurant was closed between certain hours so if you wound't go in time you will not get any food.
The room to be cleaned, the towels to be changed,to have decent drinks from the bar and not dilution with water, for all this you need to tip everybody with 1-2 dinars every day.
The food is not been done properly so many people had upset stomach and sickness, and the cookers were doing pizza in front of you touching the ingredients with their hands without gloves.
The animation team was ok but was to short.
The beach was dirty, and the kids pool as well.
Hannah, the rep, was finding excuses for every complaint we made and encouraging people to tip the staff for everything.
so who want to try this can go ahead, for us was enough.

ok we just got back from the thallassa village skanes today, and have to say what a dissapointment this hotel was !!! the food was the same all week for lunch and tea if you like veal stew or turkey every meal time then this could be for you !! all the entertainment was in french or german, even the kids disco was mainly french and german. and there is a lot of french and german people there,be prepared to be in a minority.wifi you have to pay for even if you have a mobile device i.e. iphone or similar.that is if you can get it to work, saftey deposit box,t.v. remote fridge for room, air con remote these all cost money !! as for the staff they are all very friendly especially one member of the animation team called hassen i.e. spongebob !! our rep hannah was really helpful with some of our complaints the main one being the food, like the chicken not being cooked throughly her reply was " well mine was fine last night".we had several pieces that still had blood in them not very safe if you ask me.there wasn't much verity in drinks when you could get to the bar, sprite, coke, orange, vodka, whiskey and rum,and there were local wines available.waiting staff the maids all do a brilliant job and very friendly and clean just make sure you tip your waiter 1 dinar and you'll have a table every night.all in all tunisia was ok and enjoyable when away from the hotel,if your going try port el kantoui or sousse,do your home work and try to avoid the hotel that cater towards the french and german

My sister had ben to this hotel the year before and recommended it. It was more or less as she described it, bar for the food. THe food was very average, and changed very little during the two weeks we were there. We are foody's, but I must say that there were times when I was walking around the restuarant looking for something exciting to eat!! The flies made that experience even worse! There is not much the hotel can do about them, but it was quite terrible, and if anything, they put me off the holiday the most. The service was okay, but you are expected to tip. A rule of thumb is about 3 Dinars for every 3-4 days, and only tip your regular waiters and maids. We were tipping indescriminately and think we had built up a bit a of a rep as 'generous tippers'. There are quite a few bars and the queues if any were minimal, most of the time the waiters brought the drinks over to you and sometimes when you did not ask! Once your favourite tipple was learnt, they just brought it over for you...Great! The entertainment was okay, but as I did not really get involved, I cannot really comment. The gym does not work, which is sad, but the full body massage i had was lovely. Now for the taxis... despite being warned, we still managed to get ripped off! Aviod ant taxi that wants to take you to Sahadine, before the required destination.. they take to to the most expensive shop in Tunisia. Please note that the cheapest shop is in the Fulla centre in Monistair, and you do not have to tip there either!!! There is a supermarket in Port Katourie which is also cheap. If you go to the madinas, be prepared to haggle, start at a very low price. A rule of thumb is if you would not pay the price here then do NOT pay it there...my husband learnt the very hard way!!!
All in all, the holiday was great, we had a relaxing time and the amenities are superb.

Just returned from this hotel, weather was amazing, so was beach, hotel was ok, food a bit repeative, BUT the most worrying part is that money went missing from my suitcase, another person we spoke to had their mobile phone taken, another had make up and jewellery taken and another towels from outside her room, and this was just within a space of 3 days. The hotel management did not seem too bothered just took people to report the incidents to the police. So if u are going please please look after your possessions has there are a lot of items gone missing here

We have just returned from 1 week and have to say the accommodation was excellent, the rooms are like small bungalows and very spacious.
The complex is quite large and very well maintained, there is always someone weeding/raking/pruning the gardens and cleaning the grounds.
The beach was lovely and clean.
The food was excellent. I have Coeliac's Disease and must say i ate very well, there was lots of variety and choice. There was always 2 soups, salads, different meats/fish an excellent choice of cakes, pastries etc, which i was unable to eat, but there was always, melon slices, apples, figs, oranges. At breakfast there various cereals, hard boiled/fried eggs, rarely saw any bacon or sausage, there was also and cheese and hams, yoghurts etc.
Outside the complex is very remote, but there are taxi's there waiting to take you wherever you want to visit.
Every mealtime there were a few chefs cooking fresh pizza, omlette's pancake/crepes.
there was even a table just from bread, bagettes, rolls etc.

We have just got back from the thalassa hotel in skanes, originally booked for 1 week but with ash cloud ended up there 12 nights, absolutely fantastic place we have been to tunisia 10 times over the last 10 years and this hotel was one of the best we have stayed at. Food good always Hot and quite a lot of variety enough for us anyway. Staff and Reception excellent rooms although they are old and a bit antiquated they were clean and clean bedding every day, The hotel is old and could do with some modernising but hey its a holiday enjoy it no problems there at all. The Pier which everyone goes on about well ok so it is in need of repair but i am sure it will be done eventually if you dont like it dont look at it thats my motto. We had a great time and will go back again to the same hotel.

We have just returned from a two week stay here and we are all feeling really down! we arrived and were greeted by one of the animation team Moher he was absolutley fabulous and reamined that way throughout the holiday. I have a 7 month old who adored him as did my ither two girls who are 8 and 4. The whole animation team are great and really made our holiday without them in the hotel it would have been a different story. I feel very sorry for people who havnt experienced tunisia before and end up at thalassa village. because they are closing for refurbishment at the end of october they hadnt cut the grass which led to a hibernation ground for all the mosiquitoes which bit the girls badly especially the fair skin 4yr old! the smells were awful and the abundance of flies all over the food was disgusting and hard to get away from.
The holiday rep was a waste of space didnt have any time for anyone and reallly just couldnt be bothered!
The waiters and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The beach and pools are lovely but I would advise NOT to eat in the beach restaraunt as the food was very rarely cooked properly but they do have chips there! the food didnt really cater well for children but you can get by with plain pasta and potatoes. As said we had a blast met some really fab people which we are missing terribly.
I would have loved to have taken Amir and Moher home with us the girls loved them to pieces. kids clubs were fantastic.

We had a great time here. We travelled with 2 teenagers and there was enough to keep them occupied for 2 weeks. On arrival at the hotel we were given cards to fill in in the reception and then had to wait for a porter to take us to our bungalow. It was fairly hot and there was a lot of people waiting, so we decided to take ourselves off and find it. DO NOT WALK ACROSS THE GRASS. By the time we took a few shortcuts to were we wanted to go, we were covered in spiky balls which are a nightmare to try and get off your clothes. Bungalow was great, a nice big bathroom and plenty of storage for the four of us. Was cleaned every day, with fresh towels as and when you needed them. Indoor pool was great for the cooler days, outdoor pool was lovely but freezing. Great selection of food, infact I have been to many hotels on an all inc basis, but never had as much choice as this one. Food always fresh and hot. Entertainment a bit boring in the evening, although our kids seem to enjoy it. Reps were wonderful, especially anes and sammy. Bar staff always polite. All in all it wasn't a bad holiday at all.

It was a holiday to forget. on arrival i found a dried dead cockroach on the side of the bath which i flushed down the toilet. The dried marks left by the dead cockroach was left uncleaned all week although the maid did come in every day to make the bed? The food was basically the same all week cold, very bland and tasteless, but great if you love veal stew, because thats all they seem to serve and chips off course if you wanted anything that was hot you had to queue for pizzas and pasta. The snacks during the day consisted off pancakes that was all we could find these were cooked between 3.30 and 4.30 in the afternoon. Our party consisted of 6 adults and 3 children under the age of 5yrs and the only food the children lived on was pasta, pizza and chips because they wouldn't eat anything else and they are not fussy kids. None of the high chairs that we were given to use had straps in and were of poor quality We especially booked this hotel as it was supposed to be for families and cater for children that is just not the case. There was no pool bar as it was shut all week, there were 2 bars in the main area and one by the beach but even then we had to queue sometimes for 15-20 mins to get a drink due to the fact that there was only ever 1 or 2 barmen serving the drinks during the day / evening and even then the lager was flat. All the mixers ie cola, fanta and sprite were all flat, it was just like drinking very sweet flavoured water, try mixing that with the second rate spirits and wine that they served us not bad for all inclusive? There was an area for the little ones to queue up to get a drink but they were completely ignored by the bar staff until the queues had died down. We ended up buying our drinks from the shop. There is a plus side though the 2 pool areas are kept clean and tidy and the water was always clean and the complex as a whole is very clean and tidy with some nice seating areas out off the sun, but the sunbeds where very dirty and very worn some where even dangerous as the backs were broken and sharp plastic edges were exposed. The beach is very clean but there is a lot of seaweed that gets washed up on to the front edge so the water is hardly crystal clear. The animation team tried their best to entertain you but they are having to work from a very worn out ampitheatre were the stage is very tatty and worn. The only music the so called DJ seemed to play was rave / dance music better suited to Ibiza or Ayia Napa with an annoucer who would be better off working as a keep fit instructor. I had to leave a deposit for the safe key, pool towel and the air conditioning remote controls which was 65 Dinars about £32.00 and only got £20.00 back when i handed them in at the reception apparently the rest was for charges for the key and remote. I really couldn't be bothered to argue with the receptionist as he didnot understand me or was very good at playing dumb? It was a week i would rather forget and would never go back even if it was free to this hotel it was suppossed to be a 4 star rating. I would struggle to give it a 2. I wish now that i had believed some of the reviews i had read before hand and never booked this holiday.
