Lido International Hotel

Only 4 Star in Crystal/Thomson idea...wonderful lakeside location in Garda, but no lounge area and when weather not good visitors can only sit in rooms. Coffee/tea/juice out of dispenser and very canteen like. Depressing dining room. Booked cheap offer, so it was o.k. on that basis.

We have just returned from a great week at the Lido International in Desanzano. The balcony/lake view room we had gave us a magnificent lake view, and although there was no entertainment at the hotel, the cleanliness and general standard of rooms, food and service made up for it. It is a short, 8-10 minute stroll into the town and ferry point with plenty of shops to satisfy the most fervent shoppers. All in all an excellent holiday save for a few days of poor weather, and yes, we can certainly recommend the Hotel Lido International.

I read some of the negative reviews of this hotel and wondered whether it was the same place, as we had a lovely time there. Obviously they have taken criticism to heart and smartened up their act or perhaps the hotel has changed hands. We had a lovely room which led straight out onto the Lake beach. The approach to it smelled a bit damp but the room itself was large, spacious, luxurious and comfortable. Complimentary toiletries were replenished every day and the room cleaned to a high standard. The staff were friendly and courteous and the food good. The only criticism is the service at the bar is a bit hit-and-miss: if there's no-one having a drink there's no-one manning the bar, so you do have to go on a search. However, it's sheer delight to sit out at night, watching the lights up the Lake and having a nice cold beer - we were entertained most nights to splendid firework displays here and there. Would we return? You bet... we're looking to book again this September!

I had booked this last minute holiday before I had read the other reviews. As others have stated it is not a four star hotel. The food ranged from ordinary to poor. The dining room lacked any sort of atmosphere and there was no residents lounge. On the plus side we had a nice sized room on the beach (rooms 22-25 are on the shore) that was quiet and had stunning views. Generally the place had a 1960's feel and was somewhat shabby around the edges. The pool was adequate and the terrace bar also overlooked the lake. Desenzano was 10 minutes walk and was a lively town even at the very end of the season.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel.More like a 2/3 star, but with poor facilities.Good position on the lake, but noisy road on other side of the hotel.Food quality left a lot to be desired.Poor choice of food.Lack of any seating areas(no lounge) in side hotel.I felt short changed staying here.I have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels in other resorts in the lakes and in austria /switzerland and around europe and this definitely did not meet its star rating.(I stayed here end of may ).Other 4 star hotels here and in sirmione(nearby), were of a completely higher calibre, i.e.what you would expect of a 4 star rating.

lovely spot overlooking the lake, nice distance from town. good food, lovely pool area. only thing that could have done with a bit of attention was the outdoor bar area. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and I would return.

Just returned from a very enjoyable break in Lake Garda. We stayed at the Lido International Hotel on a 3 night break. The hotel has a good pool area and great views of the Lake. However the rest of the hotel is tired and needs refurbishment. The bedrooms we stayed in smelled of damp. Standard rooms that face the road are noisy, hot and cramped. The food at the hotel is dreaful. In my opinion, this hotel is not 4 stars. I don't know who gave it this rating. The hotel, however, is in a good position and Desenzano is a good base to stay in Lake Garda.

Stayed at the Lido for a few days in Sept. 2005. Overall I was pretty happy with the choice & value for money.... the hotel gets 4 stars from me for the location right on the lake, the amazing view, and the nice clean big room. I would take away a few points for the hot/cold level of service at the front desk and bar (depending on which staff member you got you really were made to feel like an inconvenience at times..). After a few days they warmed to us and cracked a smile every now and again if we were lucky :) The pool was good, clean towels at reception and nice clean pool water. Breakfast was also good, with frosty service. Didnt eat dinner at the restaurant. So many great restaurants in Desenzano.. easy 5 mins stroll away, so preferred to do this every nite. Would recommend hotel but make sure you get a lake view, this makes all the difference!

Hotel Lido was a highlight of our trip. While I have stayed there from April 29 - May 2. I had been there before while on business, it was always off season and in a small single room - disallowing full appreciation of the property. This time we stayed in a double room with a GREAT view of the lake and a wonderful balcony. Room had plenty of space and lots of storage. Breakfast was typical food with great service. Staff was friendly and efficient. Parking lot security was good with a locked gate and room security was extraordnary with a metal security screen. Really enjoyed the pool and found it to be very secluded and quiet. Within easy walking distance of downtown Desenzano and ferry service to any location on the lake. A great hotel with a moderate price.

The hotel was fine. Comfortable clean modern rooms looking over the lake with stunning views from the room balconies. A very pleasant if slightly untended garden. It was very good value.We were there in late October and season was all but over. Our only criticism was the evening food. Eat elsewhere would be our advice.However this may of been due to the lateness in the season - we had the hotel to ourselves.
