Saadia Hotel Scannes Tunisia. What can I say July 13th 2006 Trip Advisor visitor Hartlepool Just got back this morning from Tunisia after staying in the Saadia Hotel . Had read reports before going but kept an open mind, and didn't try to expect too much. What can I say. I thought we were on the TV. holidays from Hell. Arrived 03.30 hrs to be lead into a crammed reception, being constantly told to move! Dont put your bags there!! To finally reach the reception desk to be told our rooms were not ready and we would have to wait. This was not only myself and husband, but quite a few more, some of whom spent the night in reception as the rooms they were finally allocated were filthy, bed not changed toilets not clean. We eventually got to bed about 5am but needed to be at the meet and greet at 10am. Some of the people were still in the lounge area not having found a bed. We made our way into breakfast but thats another story. I dont think of myself as a fussy eater, but If I have another quaison I think I'll look like one. After speaking to our rep Emma and raising our major concerns(Not even a welcome drink) we headed for the pool, surprise, surprise no sunbeds. Eventually the day passed and we headed for the evening meal. Food hardly edible, but definately not geared toward the British who were in the minority. This only occasionally improved but not by much. In it's favour I will say the pool area and the gardens are lovely and well maintained.(although I did have to get up each morning before 7am to get a sunbed) It's a pity the rest of the hotel and catering is not the same. The entainers work very hard and try to get everyone involved. The staff are friendly, even more so after the occasional tip (didn't mind that so much). A large group of us went to the Zulu evening (the tour rep was so surprised as never had so many been picked up in one evening) We only went to be fed! Quite a few of us chose to go at evening for a meal as the food was so poor. But as we were in the middle of nowhere that meant a taxi We had good weather which was a good thing as things to do indoors would have been desperate. I dont think we could have stood the smells. So if you go ,don't build your hopes up that the food we be edible or the accomodation anything other than basic and hopefully clean. We survived to tell the tale( Even after dodgy tummies) but recomend that you hire a fridge unless you like warm drinks.
Loved it!!!!!

i stayed for a week at the saadia hotel with my boyfriend and loved every minute of it, the hotel was really prettty and well maintained and the rooms were very clean. The food was a little weird at times i.e spagetti and tomato sauce for breakfast, but they also had croissants, cereal, eggs sausages etc so there was a good variety most of the time. i think many of the people who have left bad reviews of the hotel have been a little unfair the only thing i disliked really was the food. it is only a basic 3 star hotel and is not exactly situated in the most richest of countries so you have to take it as you find it. Outside the hotel itself there is not very much to see, they do have there own beach which is easy walking distance. we did not take the horse and carriage which is provided by the hotel to take you to the beach and back as it looked exhausted and not very well looked after, i know it cant be helped but i couldnt bring myself to use it. The beach was fine but we stayed around the pool most of the time as you have everything there for you. We were half board but the drinks were very reasonably priced so it didnt cost too much over all. There are many places to visit outside the complex such as monistir, sousse and port el kantoui which i hear is absolutely brilliant, and you can catch a cab from just outside the hotel but make sure you barter hard as they do ask you way more than they should if they know you havent been to these places before. There are many hagglers and people who try and chat you up, even being with my boyfriend i had the odd comment here and there, but you just brush it off and they leave you alone. i have learnt from people i have met on the holiday if you make out that you are interested in what they have to say they will not leave you alone. now back to the hotel, i found the entertainment team really friendly and approachable, i could see many of the girls were smitten with a few of the guys. The entertainment every night was a good variety some was a little boring but others were really good. They have a night club after the evening entertainment with a good variety of music and this will stay open until it starts getting empty, it is on the small side but great fun to watch the drunken idiots falling all over the place. Anyway we had a fab time and are thinking of returning next year sometime. whoever reads the bad reviews dont think that you have made a mistake as there are more good than bad and i honestly have to say i did not see one cockroach at all the whole holiday. Anyone who has booked or it just about to leave hav a great time as we did. jemz and matt

Like many, I viewed this website after booking my holiday and thought I had made the worse mistake of my life! Fortunately, I went out with an open mind and did not let any comments influence my opinion. Nothing was as bad as people made it seem. Yes the rooms are clean and basic, the maids come into your room everyday to make your beds and leave the sheets folded uniquely as well as arranging your towel into a swan as a nice gesture. Yes you do get plastic cups for soft drinks and half pints of lager for AI guests but if you tip the waiter and the bar staff 1 dinar (approx 40p) every now and then, and ask nicely they will give you glasses for the soft drinks and a decent half pint glass for the beer (sorry - no pints, just half pint jugs - you can ask for the pint tho, I never did). Food was an extraordinary selection to begin with. However, you have to remember that they are not only catering for the british, they have guests staying from other contries to cater for, we don't all like the same food. It appeared that, a few days into my holiday, they started serving food that was popular amongst all nationalities which included the british - believe me, my partner is the fussiest person I know when it comes to food and even he enjoyed the food I even got him to try new things he would never try back home and enjoyed them! As for entertainment we were not the kind of couple that got involved with activities - my idea of a holiday is to relax which is exactly what I did - but couldn't fault the "animators" responsible for entertaining us (all nationalities remember). It sounds funny to hear them wish everyone a good morning and annouce the days entertainment in 5! yes 5! different languages. I have to admit, their routine is quite repetative, one of their downsides, but you can't say that they don't provide entertainment, they work from 10am right the way through until the nightclub closes! There was just one entertainer that came on to the complex who got on my nerves and thankfully he was only there as a replacment for Chicho who had injured himself. I would definitely book this hotel again. It was the cheapest AI holiday for 2 weeks I have ever paid for - I have paid more for B&B and got a lot worse. Now go and enjoy your holiday - remember a holiday is what "you" make of it. Bon Voyage!
absolutely amazing

well i went to tunisia expecting the place to be a little dirty....but in actual fact it was lovely! Hotel saadia is such a clean place, the entertainment was brilliant! There was something to do all the time we was there! Chicho and the rest of the entertainment crew were fab! They would even make sure everyone was having a great time even when they wasnt on duty! The rooms was ok, nothing special but nothing bad! Lunch and evening meals were great. Wasnt too impressed with breakfast but there was snacks available all day! Thanks hotel saadia for a great holiday, will be back soon

I got back from the saadia on Thursday 15th June. I am going to be totally honest about the hotel etc. I went with my mum for a week. On arrival we were very pleased with the entrance to the hotel, very clean and well presented. We were shown to our room shortly after arriving. Our first impression of the room was not very good at first. It didn't look very clean and the beds were not made. However there was a note to tell us that the cleaner would be round shortly. The cleaner was extremley friendly and left the room well presented and we were happier after. The beds are a little uncomfortable but bearable. We had a fantastic view from our balcony! There is plenty of room in the restaurant. The breakfast was a little strange to begin with but we have to remember it's not England. The evening meals are not bad either. Although on some days the food was not as good as other days. The pool area and gardens are lovely and it makes a nice walk if you want a to chill a little. The entertainment is brilliant you cannot fault the animation team one little bit. (Fell in love with on of them ha ha!) They are excellent with the children and the shows in the evening were good to watch. (one night there was a drag artist... not good!! Infact bored me to sleep!) Overall it was the best holiday ever, we loved it so much we've just booked to go back next week!!! If you go have a great time and if you would like to know anymore just ask.
Enjoyed my stay

The hotel is basic but my room was clean and I received fresh towels and clean sheets even when I didn't request them. The grounds within the hotel are very pretty and I would say the hotel has a certain rustic feel to it. (Quite old and some things in need of repair but ok overall) The food although not a huge variety (and not always red hot) was fine, there was always something that myself and my husband enjoyed. They did serve some strange things at breakfast (I picked up a square of what I thought was potato rosti to find out it was actually cold maccaroni cheese. There were other occassions where pizza, chips and even pasta bolognaise were also served at breakfast. Somebody asked what the latter was, the chef replied "Omelette, made with pasta, beef and cheese") They did serve "normal" breakfast items too though! The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you especially if you were half board as we were. There was a definite difference in service between half board and all inclusive, we were waited on whilst the "AI" had to queue and some items (ie kids stuff: pizza, ice cream and even golf clubs for the the crazy golf were only available at certain times unless you were half board). The pool is the cleanest i've come across and the attendants would see you coming in the morning and bring mattresses without you even asking them! The ground around the pool, although pretty, is quite uneven and is probably unsuitable unless you're quite sure footed. There is nowhere else to go on a night time (unless you get a taxi into Sousse or Monastir) and the area surrounding the hotel is desolate (hotels on a long road with nothing else other than a karting centre and a shell garage).

Ignore the bad reviews of Hotel Saadia
from A TripAdvisor Member
If you've read any of the bad reviews about Hotel Saadia in Tunisia, then ignore them and discover this hotel for yourself. It really isn't as bad as people make out. My friends and I stayed at the Hotel Saadia for 2 weeks in April 2006, and we had an amazing time. The rooms are basic and the food leaves a lot to be desired, but then again what do you expect for a 3 star low budget hotel? The indoor swimming pool is heated, and although I didn't use the Turkish spa myself, I've heard from others staying in the hotel, that it is highly recommended. The grounds in the hotel are extremely well maintained, and the staff (especially the entertainers) are really friendly, if not a little crazy! I suggest you make friends with them and you will soon adjust to there sence of humour. I really don't understand why people say they saw lots of bugs and cockroaches becuase i can honestly say i saw none. My friends and I had a brilliant time, and we would go back to hotel Saadia again in the future.
Do not stay here - ever!

All the people that have written a good review are crazy. I stayed here over Easter this year so I have just got back. The hotel rooms are very, very basic and are NOT clean. The bed sheets are always stained, the towels are ripped in half (literally, to create smaller towels), and beds are like a lump of clay. On the first day we thought that maybe we were being snobs and that we could cope with the basic facilities, because you get what you pay for (we booked a late deal, and in the end spent a fortune on having to eat out) We arrived late at night so only saw the hotel properly the next day. No one made any effort to show us where anything in the hotel was or what the procedure for eating was, we were quite lost on the first day. The food is less than sub standard. Rice, Chips and pasta are mostly what’s on offer all day everyday and it tastes horrid. If this food was served to you in England, you would send it back, however because you are on holiday you kind of put up with it. On the third day in the desert section of the restaurant there was a cockroach crawling over the cakes, when I told the waiter the simply picked it up, squashed it and through it on the floor and still offered me the cakes!!!!!!!!! The Only one good thing about the food was the snacks, i.e. pizza slices etc (even they are not that fantastic) The toilets always blocked and overflowed, giving off the most horrid smell, the pool was never clean, the mini golf is a waste land, the archery is a hay bail with a dart board stuck on it, the volleyball is on concrete! And the tennis courts don’t have any nets. The entertainment at night was very basic and dull, it was held in the very small bar, where you could hardly get a seat, the drinks were served in little white plastic cups, and the waiters are very slow (well they would be, when you ask for a drink and they pull out their mobile and start to text someone and ignore you). The beach was closed so we couldn’t do any water sports (they don’t tell you that when you book). In fact we met at least 3 families that moved to the hotel across the road because our hotel was that bad, all the couples we met are all writing to the holiday company to get their money back. If you stay here you will have a terrible time. Even if you think that you may be able to put up with it (like we did after we read the reviews, as all we wanted was a week in the sun) you won’t it is the worst place I have ever stayed. Please, please, please do not book your holiday here as the place need to be condemned. I would be hard pushed to class this as a 2* hotel.
It's really not that bad!

Just got back from my week at the Saadia. It was great. I was so worried before i left but needn't have been. The hotel is only a 3 star and you do get what you pay for. I was initially shocked by the room: cracked, worn tiles, dark gloomy interior. However, it is spotlessly clean - the maids do a great job and the rooms and hotel is really not as bad as some people have made out. Not a cockroach in sight! I'm quite fussy and i wouldnt have remained there if it was dirty. Food was great - lots of lamb, rice and cous cous! It was warm enough, a good range of choice and gorgeous puddings. You can get crepes by the pool in the afternoons and pizza and baguettes from the pizzeria at various times. Getting a drink could be time consuming as the service at the bar was a bit on the slow side! The pool area is beautiful and clean. Plenty of sunbeds and nice and spacious. pool is lovely but freezing this time of year. The weather was very hot apart from a couple of days. The beach was nice but sadly the beach bar and watersports were closed this time of year (although i think there is some things open along by sahara beach hotel). The staff are nice, even nicer if you're paying ( i assume because you're more likely to leave a tip)but i was all inclusive and i found it ok. There is a guy called Alibaba selling camel and boat trips from the hotel. He's lovely but i didn't book a trip with him so i don't know what they are like. I did do on the Sahara trip through medhotels though. It cost about £60 and was great, esp the colleseum and the camel ride in the sahara. Lots of travelling on the coach though, which can get tedious. I felt sorry for those with kids. All in all a good holiday at a pretty good hotel considering the cost. If you can get this hotel cheap then go for it.

Located as the person below has also mentioned, in the middle of nowhere really. Beach is relatively close and is a gentle 5 minute stroll if you can manage to avoid the throng of taxi drivers and horse & carts outside the gates ready to pounce as you exit. But apart from... more
