After reading reviews about the Saadia Hotel we were a little worried but went with an open mind. Myself my husband my daughter and her partner arrived at 8.30pm on 18/09/10 the reception area was quite basic we spoke to the receptionist who said he didn't have our booking and wasn't expecting us, eventually after letting him read all our booking information and receipts for payment of two weeks all inclusive he asked a porter to take us to our rooms. When the porter opened the door we was greeted with a smell of cigarette smoke, both beds had been slept in the rubbish bin was full, wet towels on the floor in the bath room, it was clear that the room had not been cleaned, the same with my daughters room, we told the porter that we were not happy and went straight back to the reception desk. They took us back to the same corridor in two different rooms the rooms had been cleaned but we found after unpacking a few items that the glass doors leading onto the balcony had been broken into they wouldn't stay closed, out side was the main road this made us very nervous, so went back down to complain, they told us that people were checking out the next day and they would find us better rooms, we said pool view but they said sorry all full even tho we had booked and paid for a pool view !!! We had a very restless night and went back to the reception the following morning, she told us to come back at 12 midday, eventually we did get two rooms but overlooking the garden and behind the entertainment stage which we didn't realise was a stage until that night when the music blasted out till 10.30pm, then the British bar would carry on the music twice as loud until 4am.The air conditioning had been turned off in the whole building on the 15th Sept and dosnt come back on again untill 15th June 2011 the temperature inside was hot and sticky. The food was the same every day some of the food looked as if it had been recycled from the following day, fish with millions of bones most of the meat was liver or chicken one day we had beef but it was full of fat every thing was cooked or soaked in oil, twice we got chips but they were too fatty to eat, after 5 days my daughter and myself became very ill with a temperature aches and pains all over we felt like we had flu, then sickness and diarrhoea we took Imodium for two days and paracetamol but nothing helped, we had to have the doctor he was very good and came within an hour he gave my daughter and injection in her bottom and lots of medication to be collected from the pharmacy, i was also given medication. Thank goodness for our Men who went into town for the medication which took them ages to find one open, but after two days we were still ill, the doctor was called again, he gave us different medication he said if this doesn't work you wont be able to fly home and you will have to go into hospital...Luckily the sickness stopped but the diarrhoea only subsided a bit the stomach cramps remained and we needed the toilets to be nearby, we did manage to get home but went straight to the doctors the following day as did my daughter. The doctor diagnosed Gastroenteritis our doctors told us that it was more than likely food related. We will be more carefull in future when choosing a hotel, and read the reviews befor we book!!!

Rooms basic but clean, maid service daily. Staff whent out of there way to make us feel welcome and that was before any tips were given out. Pool staff always on hand very friendly and often anticipated your needs for sunbeds. Animation team worked tirelessly throughout the day to entertain everyone. The children were amased at the teams enthusiasm and were occupied and happy from the moment they got up until they went to bed. The nights mini club show always got the children up to join in and often a few adults then after that 9-30pm approx the adult entertainment started which was just as good. The food was a good mix of local food with something to eat for everyone. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience and children are already wanting to book a return.

Hotel was filthy, had mould around the bathroom, was moved into 3 different rooms, balcony railing was comeing away from wall, infested with ants, no clean towels, rude staff, food was either fish and rice or fish and rice or fish and rice. hole in the cieling, nothing to do on a night time unless you can understand French songs. We paid extra £200 to come home early, DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL

I have just had my 4th holiday at Hotel Saadia and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The food is good and varied. The weather is delighful. There is always something to do, if you want. Or you can just laze around the pool in the sunshine. It's incredible value at £12 /day all inclusive. What more could you want. There are plenty of places to visit off resort and it's not too expensive.

Myself and three teenage daughters spent a week (28March - 4 April) at the Saadia Hotel. Our rooms were overlooking the lovely pool and palm trees. They were basic but lovely - brick tile floor with rugs, twin beds pushed together, cleaned everyday with new towels in bathroom.
The hotel itself is quite isolated, amongst other hotels but nowhere near shops or restaurants. We were the only people to be half board so, had it not been for the lovely people we met, would have not been able to socialise properly and drink the weak cocktails and beer, which were part of the holiday experience! Everyone there should be all-inclusive as there did not seem to be any facility to pay for lunches or the delicious pancakes etc served in the afternoon. All drinks, including bottles of water etc were free all day, we would have had to buy them from the English bar which was quite expensive. The food was very different -people did complain that it wasn't British enough - but that's part of the fun of the holiday, and eggs and pancakes could be cooked to order if asked for. The staff were really helpful, even though the Animation team could be annoying at times with their persistance, but thats what they get paid to do.
Buses run outside the hotel to both Monistir and Sousse for pennies and are very convenient and hassle free. All the Tunisians we met were exceptionally lovely and even bartering in the markets was fun and not at all threatening.
We went on a two day trip down to the Sahara and Atlas mountains which was exceptional, and although it cost about £100 each was worth every penny for the experience.
All of us enjoyed the holiday immensely.

first of all everyone has their own opinion on standards, my aim was for a nice relaxing two weeks and what i got i was glad with.
6 of us stayed in the saadia 2 kids and 4 adults, on arrival the staff were all pleasant and helpful and we had a member of staff help take our baggage upto the room.
room was average 3 star and very clean and the cleaners were in day in day out working really hard to ensure everywere was shining. if wanting kettles etc i would advise you to take them with you or use the facilities down in the bar, bar/restaurant was very clean and all the staff were lovely and very helpful if you needed to ask anything they would find the best solution all the time, food can get repetative after the 1st week but they do have different nights where like tunisian/mexican. lot of choice of pasta's,chips, pizza, different meats etc so you do have to be really fussy not to eat.
the animation team were brill they worked so hard from day 1 till they day we left they are such pleasant guys always on the go asking anyone to join them in
-archery
-water aerobics
-gymnastics
-crazy golf
-dance time and how could i forget the french bowls amazin at wat they do and i will miss them loads.
as for the locals they are friendly but can be pests wen they want a sale, especially in the market (medina) a clear 'imshee' will make them leave you alone we were told this word means leave me be and it worked even with the taxi's, horse and carts and the cigarette sellers on the beach.
all in all the hotel was of really good standards it is wat you pay for so dont expect 5star it is a 3, loved every minute and looking at booking another holiday at the end of sept :-)

just back from tunisia today ive been eight times and never once complained i arrived late on the sunday night and thought the hotel looked ok as long as there is a clean bed im fine.went down to get a snack and there were none went for a drink and it was vile so went to bed.
next morning a went for breakfast normaly breakfast is not to hot but i was surprises to find this worse toast made and all rock solid no cereal and cold eggs this was it apart from a cake i just thought ill wiat till lunch this was un edible just fish full of bones and cold dry pasta also stew that was all fat dinner was just the same. a friend of ours was there to and said there was no tv in her room so she went to ask for one and was told she could hire one i went with her to see the manager and told him on the website you were told you would have one free of charge also a fridge and a hairdryer but these were not there either. i told him the food was rubbish so was the drink he said if i gave him a bottle of whiskey he would let me have a better vodka we all ended up bringin our duty free down stairs and drinking this. the stairs were in darkness all the times and quite creepy. next morning i called my rep and had to pay one hundred and twenty pounds to move hotel as did my friend.
i always read review and say you get what you pay for and dont listen to them a holiday is what you make it but do not go to this hotel i pay the same price to go to all the other hotels in tunisia and they are much better. also if this was my first time in this country i would never go back.DONT GO

Located as the person below has also mentioned, in the middle of nowhere really. Beach is relatively close and is a gentle 5 minute stroll if you can manage to avoid the throng of taxi drivers and horse & carts outside the gates ready to pounce as you exit. But apart from the local beach and the adequate swimming pool in the courtyard, there is little else to do. Sousse isn't far off via bus, but once you've visted it once and done the medina and sea front there's no incentive to go there again really. However being based in Sousse would be far more ideal as there is easy access to bars and restaurants in the evening. No such thing if you are based in Skanes. You are committed to staying in the hotel all evening practically. Fine if there is satisfactory entertainment but there was next to none when I was there. All there is to do, as most did, is team up with a few others and drink copious amounts of the free local beer/wine/bouka of varying quality inside or outside the building, although outside at this time of the year it can get very chilly so be warned. All well and good doing this but it can get boring after a week of it and let's be fair we can do this at home, down the pub or at a friend's place. There is the so called British bar attached to the hotel although separate from it as the all inclusive isn't covered here so you have to pay for your drinks. All in all it feels a fairly small and seedy joint and rather cliquey although okay if you fancy a brief change of scenery and it's relatively friendly. It does seem to play the same music night after night though, almost in a loop it feels, and as someone in a review below has indicated, the music can blare out til 3 or 4am and depending where you are situated, it can be very difficult to sleep! Take ear plugs.
Food is open to interpretation. I felt it okay some days and not so good others. If you are quite a fussy eater then you will have trouble. Variety and presentation of salads were good but not much in the line of desserts.
Rooms are basic but adequate and fairly clean throughout. No TV or tea/coffee making facilities though, so remember that. Staff on the whole are friendly and provide a fairly good service. But I didn't find reception particulary ready to help and not altogether warm in their manner. There was also literally no leaflets or information on the surrounding area or how to reach other nearby places or those further a field, making the place feel even more isolated.
In conclusion I can't recommend either the hotel or location and if you are determined to holiday in Tunisia it would certainly be wise to go elsewhere.
