Just returned from Majorca. Early morning flight, been traveling since 8 o’clock, arrived at Ferrerra Blanca 10am the next morning but couldn’t get into apartment till 2pm. We were shattered, needed to get some sleep, at 245pm we finally got the key.

Really disappointed with the apartment; so small for self catering, sockets in wrong place over by the door, next to sink, had to keep moving kettle and microwave over. Place smelt of and was damp, blankets were damp, horrible smell in bedroom, my husband moved into the lounge to sleep. We were overrun with ants, even worms on the wall, woodlice, even something that looked like a scorpion in my shoe.

Not a very comfortable accommodation me thinks. Cala d’Or is lovely, very clean, lots of good eating places, very friendly people, there was a couple of rip offs, but you don’t go back.

The marina is really nice, abit of a walk, but well worth it and plenty of watering holes along the way. I wouldn’t go back to Majorca, hated Palma airport - too big, very stressful, have to walk a good distance to reach the departure gates. Then they lost our case. Also wouldn’t go Sept/Oct, weather not too good.

What a fantastic holiday, I'm a 16 year old girl and I loved every bit of it. The rooms are spaced out and comfortable, very clean and a toaster and tele is included.

The view of our apartment was over the pool which was very stunning. There are 3 pools but we sticked with the main pool, it has a shallow and deep end, the only downfall is the music can be turned up loud. The pool is cleaned every morning and the pool bar is open early until late.

The reps are always doing something new such as table tennis competitions and water polo and also pistol shooting. In the night they do all sorts of shows and until 12 at night.

The night life in cala d'Or has loads of variety its spread down to about a mile, theres chinese, indian and different fish and meat dishes, and if you like karaoke theres a few of them around and if you life sports theres loads of bars for them too!

The cleaners come 4 times a week and me and my family were never disappointed. The beach is just a few yards from the apartments. I would love to come back here again.

Holiday was fantastic, both hotel staff and Maxine the Rep could not do enough for us, we were on the quiet side of the hotel looking over bottom pool and beach so views of bay were good.

Kids and adults all kept well entertained all day and night. Good adult participation including club dance that I am still singing on an evening.

A big 'thank you' to Mari, Poali, Chico and Miquel for getting us all up to do Aqua Aerobics in a morning.

Food in hotel was good just no one tried it out, so are sadly missing a good meal. Could not fault Mestral for quality food and drinks. Must try the Carabel between 8-10pm for cheap drinks, and Hacienda for good shows.

Would definitely go back to Ferrera Blanca again, all in all an enjoyable experience - just no good for groups and lads or lasses as normally caters for families or couples.

My holiday was a complete disaster from day one. On arrival we had to wait over two hours for our room then we had to be moved it was alive with ants and unsafe for children. The door in bathroom locked when closed my granddaughter shut the door and was locked in for over thirty minutes before we could get her out and that was only the start of a holiday from hell. That day we got a safety deposit box key and put all our valuables in it the next day got up left the apts for breakfast and went to the beach we got back about four o'clock only to find the safety box had been ripped out and stolen. All my money flight tickets, credit and debit cards gone but no sign of forced entry. I was left with nothing on day two of my holiday I had to get money sent over to fly us home as management of apts were of no help at all in my opinion stay away.

Well what can I say, what a fantastic holiday we had at the Ferrera Blanca. This was our 3rd visit and I can say this year was our best. Room was lovely and clean, food was good when we ate there, all the staff were great, lovely and friendly. The animation team were all fantastic.

I’ve got to be honest I would go back today if I could, we were all so sad to leave.

Well what can I say I found the place disgusting and dirty. The time from the airport is 2 hours when we got there they gave us a room over the reception which when we entered it, it smelled. So I went back and told them no way are we staying in that so they gave us another room over the road which was allot better.

It was 1am in the morning so no shops were open to get anything from so the next morning I went to the supermarket and believe me its just a rip off 3euros 65 cents for a loaf 2 euros for milk, I could go on but just be ready to be ripped off and I am in no way tight with money. I just hate being ripped off and especially with cheap brands.

It was even 16 euros for 2 vodkas in some bars don’t let this put you off.

The beach is nice and the walk to Cala dor is a nice walk but as someone said watch out for pickpockets and when you buy something in the perfume shops etc they ask you for your pin number or they will swipe your card in one machine and then swipe it in another and when I asked why she had done it she said it did not accept the first machine and when I said id like to cancel that purchase she all of a sudden did not understand me but she ad just been helping me with aftershaves in a very good English accent.

Luckily we were on our way home that day so I rang my bank straight away and told them what happened that was last week and hopefully up to now nothing has happened but it was just strange what was going on maybe she knew I was onto her.

Any way hope this is useful to you.

Stayed for 2 weeks in the Ferrera Blanca apartments. The staff were really friendly and helpful and although the map supplied by the rep was a bit useless we soon found our way round the resort.

The rooms are clean and fairly well equipped but the beds were a bit uncomfortable.

Not much in the way of decent shops in Cala D'or, mostly your usual holiday tat with a few designer shops(one extreme to the other) but we were spoiled for choice with the restaurants.

For breakfast we would recommend the Duke of Devonshire (they even do a vegetarian one).

For other meals the Mestral and Andys are worth a look as is Jimmys bar. I'd give the Marivent a wide berth though, rude staff and the food wasn't that good plus it felt that from the moment you sat down they were wanting to get on to the next customer. Not pleasant.

The beaches were very small and a bit cramped for space, but the water was clear and clean so well worth a look.

I would definitely stay in the Ferrera Blanca apartments again.

We have just returned from a lovely holiday with our 6 year old, we stayed in block 9 which was quiet. Our apartment was over the road from the main entrance. There are a few blocks with only one over the main entertainment area and you can take or leave the entertainment as suits. Our daughter enjoyed the mini disco which they have every night and the horse rides. The apartment was very clean with TV, fridge, hob, kettle, huge bath, comfortable beds and clean sheets. Ants were a minor nuisance only.

The hotel reception at Ferrera Blanca were very efficient, we changed our traveller’s cheques and answered any queries.

This was the first holiday to the Med for a long time but we were impressed with Cala D'or and Cala Ferrrera. Cala Fererra Beach was only 5 minutes away and we all preferred swimming in the sea to the pools which were fine, but of the three pools the one nearest us was too deep for our daughter. The pool near the main entertainment area was fine to dip in and out of but just got too busy to swim. You have a good choice of restaurants and shops in near the apartments.

Cala D'or itself is only 15 minutes stroll away with two more beaches you can try. Try walking back to Cala Ferrea with a lovely ice cream from the Italian Ice Cream kiosk; down a cut through just before you get into Cala D'Or there are about 30 flavours to choose from. You can get on the sands near the sea with your towel with out hiring sun loungers so no problem there. Cala D'or and Cala Ferrera are definately family resorts we saw no large rowdy single sex groups. If you are with teenagers there were a few nightclubs in Cala D'or.

You will pay about 7-10 Euro's for an adult main meal, less for children and everywhere offered children’s meals. We went to the Caves of Drac which is not far and gets you out of the sun for the day and is worth a visit. We also went to Palma which was really good for shopping. We went in the cathedral and the palace, both worth a visit. If you go to Palma, go to the restaurant/cafeteria in the Inglais (something like that) department store for the best panoramic views across the bay.

On a final note our daughter enjoyed the children’s playlands which are both in Cala Fererra and Cala D'or which have mini carts, boats, trampolines, bouncy castle for about 1-5 Euros and are open in the evening. We enjoyed eating at the Duke of Devonshire but found that most of the restaurants offered a wide choice of European dishes including English; Italian, Indian and Spanish, so fussy eaters don’t worry.

So if you want a beach holiday we think this is good, if you want family entertainment the Ferrera Blanca is for you, if you want culture and history try the excursions, or try doing abit of everything.

Just back from a great week in Ferrara Blanca, we booked it as allocated on arrival and was not sure what to expect as we got it cheap. In the end the apartment was excellant, rooms cleaned regulary and very spacious.

The location is on the edge of the main area in Cala Ferrera and close to the beach. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who just wants a week in the sun.

There are many places to eat / drink within a couple of minutes walk, would suggest the Hacienda for entertainment and cheap drink. The Duke of Devonshire and "Andys" are both good for eating. Also, Cala D'or was only a 10 minute walk from the apartment.

First impression was very good, clean basic apartments, we were on the third floor, no lifts, 2 kids with us,3 yr old and 8 yr old, very helpful staff.

The entertainment team were excellent, there was always something going on in the evening, good facilities round the pool, room service was about three times a week.

Plenty of places to eat out on the main strip, the three dolphins do a good breaky but no swaps!! Watch out for scary ladies doing the hair braiding!!

Beach is 2 mins away, didn’t stop too long there as we stayed by the pool most days.

Beware the cockerel at 5 in the morning, every morning; though not everyone heard it, we were round the side by the road.

All in all had a very good holiday and are planning on going back next year.

Just returned from one week at Ferrera Blanca Apartments, spotlessly clean, more than spacious for two adults, willing and attentive staff, close to the beach, good walks to Cala Serena, Cala Gran, Cala D'Or, Cala Llonga, and the Marina.

No rip-off prices within the complex, entertainment for kids, day and night, more adult shows after 9.30.pm.

Restaurant on site, although we did not try it, good reports and only 10 Euros for evening buffet and 6 Euros for full breakfast buffet.

We were in two minds whether to stay at Sol Cala D'or Apartments near the town centre, but so glad we didn't.

Ferrera Blanca Apartments so much better, and also in very good position for main street with plenty of shops, bars and entertainment. We enjoyed Eden Paradise Shows and Karin II shows, the Karin serves amazing sangria.

Would definitely return to this complex and next time would ask for a room across the road in Block 8 9 or 10, very quiet and tranquil, but some folks with kids would prefer to be in the main complex.

You will find this quite a long review, but as my husband pointed out "its best to put all comments as there is someone it will concern" so here goes.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Ferrera Blanca Apartments, overall I have to say it is a lovely place and would probably return there.

The transfer some may find a little too long, it’s just over the hour from Palma airport.

On arrival we were allocated a nice apt across the road in a quite area. If you were over the main pool it can get quite noisy with the entertainment. The beach which is very close can get really busy as it’s a small cove, but nice water all the same!

I hope what I’m about to tell you does not affect your decision on visiting this island, on our 4th day in to our holiday, were walking down the main strip of Ferrara and the sidewalks were fairly busy, we side stepped to allow a family with a buggy and children pass and at this point my purse was stolen from my handbag, this in itself was scary I didn’t even notice it happening.

But the worst part is being stuck in a country with a language barrier, and very little help to cancel credit cards etc. So please try to be very careful wherever you may go.

We found a bar run by an English couple Bottoms Up, the owners Kev & Mel helped and advised which police station to contact etc. Its worth a visit to this bar, you'll receive a warm welcome (and a laugh).

Where to eat I would recommend a few places:

For breakfast (I think it’s the Devonshire Arms). All meals Andys Bar very friendly, good service, Good food.

Also for Chinese Takeaways Chinos really good food.

When I read reviews before we went quite a few times The Three Dolphins was given a good review, whilst the food was good we found the staff rude and not so friendly.

If you’re a smoker as I am, don’t expect to walk in to any shop and buy them over the counter, this isn’t the case anymore, you have to go into Cala D'Or town where there is a shop you can buy them from, closed on Sundays. There a few bars that have vending machines, but very little choice of brands.

There are a few good bars with entertainment but check what’s on offer!

I hope some of these comments are useful to you. But for all said it really is worth a visit.

Lorraine & Gary Rawson.

I and my boyfriend (both 25) went to Ferrera Blanca apartments July 2006.

The apartment itself was really nice and clean, didn’t really have much to do with the staff but they seemed ok. We where near the pool and it was very noisy and always very busy-too busy!

The entertainment was awful! The nightlife around Cala Ferrera was awful and the people where not very friendly at all!

We spoke to 2 other people in the entire 2 weeks we where there, they were all very rude!

Night life in Cala dor slightly better but not much. Don’t get me wrong we were not after wild nights out but a bit of atmosphere would have been good.

Overall probably the worst holiday ever! If you are after a good holiday with a bit of nightlife-don’t go here!

I and my Husband and 4 year old daughter have just arrived back from this fantastic holiday in Cala D'Or. The apartments are brilliant.

We stayed in block 10 which was fabulous as this was away from the main pool area. I got told by another holiday maker that the apartments near the pool did get noisy.

Anyway our room was very very clean and tidy, the towels were changed every day and the bins emptied and in my eyes you can’t beat that!

The local bars are brilliant you have to pay a visit to Carabel pub otherwise known as the Dogs Bolloxs!! Great staff really helpful and made our holiday. Maria and Brunelda are the best people I have met so say Hi if you see the, Great guy who we named nee naw man and I won’t spoil the surprise why we did...

Great food places as well...Andy bar for pizza and duke of Devonshire for English home- made meals.

Please don’t leave your holiday without visiting the Marina...it will blow your mind....how the other half live.

Hope you enjoy your holiday as much as my family did...I cannot wait to get back there next year!
