This is the first time we have been to Greece, and are really glad we picked Thassos, a gem of an island. Having read reports on this site about the plagues of wasps, overflowing bins and packs of wild dogs fornicating on the beach, we were worried that it would be a disaster. However, there were more wasps in my back garden than on the whole island. We never saw any spilled rubbish, and hardly a dog in sight! There were plenty of cute kittens, though. They were everywhere.
The Island is very green, rugged and round every corner is a photo opportunity. The beaches are good, although you need to drive to find the best ones. I can recommend Golden Beach and Paradise Beach. The public transport is first-rate. Air conditioned coaches, playing Greek music and always on time. Thassos Town is a good base, plenty of restaurants and interesting places to visit. While we were there an archaeological dig uncovered an ancient Greek cemetery, and we were lucky enough to see them open tombs with 2000 year old skeletons inside. This was the highlight of our holiday.
The locals are friendly and anxious to please, the food delicious. Kosmar are a good company to travel with, we would certainly use them again. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, but basic. It was set in nice gardens and was bungalow style. Go to Thassos, before it gets ruined and overrun by noisy indiscriminate tourists!

These apartments are very basic and in need of modernising even by Greek standards. The bathroom was so small you had to squeeze past the door and toilet to get in and it was permanently wet with the toilet system leaking. This then made the whole studio wet.
The pool is the one good feature as we had this to ourselves most of the time and this was cleaned regularly. The rooms were cleaned every other day and you were given clean towels once a week. By cleaned I mean toilet bin emptied and the floor mopped. If you are looking to be able to cook then forget these apartment/ studios we had a total of 5 so had a view of both apartments and studios and the apartments were not much better.
Thassos it self was great the restaurants were all really good but our favourite had to be Twins.
Will definitely be returning to Thassos but won’t be staying in the Evridiki.
