Villa Mandi Golf Resort, Los Cristianos

Villa Mandi Golf Resort Holiday Reviews
Villa Mandi Golf Resort boasts excellent views right across the neighbouring golf course, so you won't have far to go for a round or two! The Villa Mandi is set in an attractive resort in a picturesque and peaceful location. With a separate children's pool and lots of space for the kids to stretch their legs, this is a good choice for a family holiday. Great for golf fanatics and those who want a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle, the Villa Mandi offers a warm reception to all its guests. Due to the peaceful location of the apartments, the Villa Mandi is not ideal for those looking for a livelier holiday.

What a fabulous time we had! Spent 2 weeks here with our 2 girls, 30 months and 18 months old. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great complex, exceptionally clean! Room was good size although I agree with previous comments that the kitchen was a little small. The whole place was thoroughly cleaned every day. Good entertainment and very friendly staff.

Only negatives was location, which we were aware of. The complex is about 20 minutes walk main resorts, either LC or LA which we did quite enjoy walking most of the time and food at restaurent on the complex. Although we never ate there, we were advised not to.

Recommend - Amaretto Italian Restaurent (to the left of Compestella Beach, over the main road, near Supermacado - best Italian we have had home or abroad!

Been to Tenerife numerous times, there are better areas, but I'm not sure there would be a better complex for a family with young children!

We plan to return.

Booked on the back of a great Thomson Family Hotel in Salou last year we had mixed feelings about this place. The complex is great and the staff are brilliant (Thomson & Hotel). The bad things first;

Entertainment - Thomson must have slashed their budgets this year as the shows each night did not compare to last year. The reps said it was due to the availability of acts in Tenerife vs mainland Spain which is fair enough, but I'd say only 4 of 14 nights were something I consider of a good standard. Too much emphasis on the Thomson staff entertaining us.

Restaurant - average food and on one evening I ordered Chicken Kiev and it was served raw (and I mean raw), not once but twice. I then opted for the omlette! Luckily we were SC so didn't bother with it too much. Again I have to say the staff were brilliant (except the chef!!)

Location - not much around it, but we knew that already so no complaints

Security - no real presence of staff in the evenings on the complex, which didn't seem a problem until our neighbours got burgled (+ another apartment). Happened when they were in the apartment so advice is make sure your doors are actually locked. We woke first morning to realise ours had been closed but unlocked all night. Seems everyone we spoke to said same, so maybe someone there has a reason for leaving the doors unlocked for new arrivals (both rooms targetted for break ins were new arrivals).

Pool - If you have kids who are not 100% confdent swimmers it's a little deep for them all round. There is a tiny one for the babies though

Lot's of negatives here but just friendly notes really - overall it's great and only scores less than 10 due to the food experience and the poor entertainment. My kids have never used the Kids club before but did in Week 2 and the staff were great. Kids loved it. They also do evening parties for 3 euros each which are good value - make sure they do the chocolate party and watch what you wear when you pick them up - that's all I will say..........

Finally if you take taxis to and from the hotel prepare for massive variations in the prices you pay. To Las americas we paid anything from 4 - 9 euros depending on the driver!!

Not long returned from a two week holiday in Villa Mandi, Tenerife. My husband and I went with our two daughters, aged 13 and 2 and a half.

Apartments were absolutely spotless, cleaned every day, and you could have towel and linen changed daily as well.

Two pools - again absolutely spotless. These were cleaned every day and the poolside was disinfected every morning. We had no trouble at all getting sun beds and parasol.

The area around the pool did get a bit slippy, so worth watching if you have little children that tend to run around.

The staff could not do enough to help in reception (especially Carmen, lovely person), and we saw the reps every single day. They were always at their little office at the drop in den and happy to help out if there were any problems. Although they were a little loud at the kids club entertainment in the evening (think the mic was turned up a little too high for the size of room) - they worked extremely hard, and the children loved it. They ran a kids club, and although our children never used it, it seemed to be very popular with other families.

The only thing to let down this hotel was the quality of the food. We ate in the hotel for four nights, and after that decided to go out. The choice was quite limited and a couple of the waiters did not speak very good English, so sometimes orders were coming out wrong. We were told that the food had improved in recent years, so hopefully they will keep on working on it!!

There is a supermarket on site, but it is very expensive. If you walk twenty minutes into Los Christianos there are a few much cheaper supermarkets to be found.

On the whole we had a really fantastic holiday. Would definately recommend to anyone, and we are going to try and book up again for next year!

We went on the tuesday of half tem (end of may) for one week. it was our first time abroad with both children, aged 4 and 1. We had an absolutely brilliant time and I can't wait to return! We were hoping to go back this year but sadly finances won't strech that far so will be back next summer.

My eldest went to the kidzone 'tot's club for 2 hours 3 times during the week that we were there- it does run 6 days a week. She also joined in with the kids disco in the evening and we all stayed to watch the shows most nights. Even her little sister was up dancing with all the other children.

One thing I feel I have to mention is the oustanding service you get from the team of thomson reps - of which there were 10!!! Groovy gary mini michelle, and crazy caz the kids reps were outstanding. As were super dooper dawn, boney m and smiler sam. Best reps we every come accross on our many travels.

The apartments are a little way out but we didn't find this a problem and got a taxi, yes the cost adds up over the week but it was still cheaper than an equivalent standard hotel in the centre of the resort. it also meant come 11.30 ish at night it quietened down - I know not everyones cup of tea but what we wanted with 2 lively children. The apartments are also spotlesly clean with excellent kids play areas. Handy tip is don't buy buckets and spades or inflatables etc as soon as get there. The kids club has boxes outside full of toys that other holidaymakers have left when they go home, you can help yourselves and take the things you borrow back at the end of the day. My kids chose something different everyday and so never got bored! You can also borrow little tykes cars from there you just sign them out/in again.

All in all best holiday ever and 5* thomson, will definately return and will be sticking with the familyclub from now on, well done!!!

Had a fabulous holiday at the Villa Mandi, only negatives was the walk into Los Christianos [about 20 mins] and also no welcome pack which is a must - arrived at the apartment in the evening only to find the supermarket was closed at 8.30pm and the nearest Supermarket was 20 mins away - with a four year old child it was necessary to get the essentials. Only other negative was the food in the restaurant - not varied and expensive. However, the kids club was fabulous for both ages ['tribes' for my 9 yr old daughter] and ['tiny tots' for my son who is 4] - Groovy Gary [thomson rep] and Crazy Caz [thomson rep] responded positively to all the kids and the kids responded back! They were excellent! The pre-organised trips were reasonable and well organised - Freebird 1 which is Europes biggest catamaran was amazing [Crazy Caz escorted us to keep the kids entertained] along with Mount Teide and Lorel Park. All in all this was our first family themed holiday in a family hotel and we all had a very positive experience. The reception staff were on hand to offer advice and we hired a buggy for my son to help with the long walks into town. The supermarket was expensive but handy for the essentials which you forgot to buy. A few chinese restaurants will deliver as well which was handy after being out all day. The hotel was superb along with the maids who cleaned every day - no cockroaches to be seen!

We cannot wait to return!!!!

Villa Mandi had everything we needed. My 10 year old daughter loved it so much she cried when she had to go home. The apartment was cleaned every day, when we called reception help was with us within 10 minutes and they were always polite and friendly. The thomson reps were great. They helped make our holiday special. Would recommend this resort if you want a good family holiday. Yes, it just outside Los Cristianos but you can walk, get a free bus to the beach or there is always a taxi which can be with you in minutes!

Hi , I hope to be as constructive as possible , 1st the negatives, which I would like to have known about.......... and there are nt too many...

Most of the apartments are split level , with (steep) stairs up to the 2nd floor ...not a problem but its significantly away from the 1st bedroom ,that we didnt want the kids sleeping alone ..... great for two couples sharing , but not when the family is split up? more over the floors( and stairs ) are fantastically tiled with terracota tiles, great looking but hellishly slippy, we didnt like the idea of wet feet and kids running down the stairs.?

we also had been offered a pool view apartment - thank god we didnt! listen its a famnily orientated busy hotel and its fantastic, but do you want it 12 hours aday in your face?

sorry these are meant to be constructive ... but this is a busy hotel and the handovers seem to be early afternoon Tuesdays and Fridays .... beware its very possibly your room wont be ready for you when you arrive ... ours wasnt and reception was full of peope with the same problem, checkout at 12 noon , obviously its difficult to clean lots of rooms quickly especially to the high standard they are, but you may have to wait.

Taxis - begins to get expensive, between 5 and 8 Euros each trip twice a day x 6(&?) thats about £80 over the six days or so.....yep you can walk , but it is a treck..

ok so you maybe think that i didnt enjoy the holiday? well it was a great fantastic family hotel with two double bedrooms and two ensuite bathrooms , twin sinks, marble everywhere and 5 star views - the pictures on the net are very correct , but also done proffesionally and dont show the wasteland opposite the hotel , or the hotel next to this one...

listen we went with Portland we flew from Doncaster and we had a fantastic time

and I would certainly recommend it...

Just take note of the above and Im sure its the same everywhere but with the rubbbish Euro exchange , we found self catering expensive an average 2 beers and two childrens drinks approx ten euros and an avergae meal costing 40 to 50 euros - HARLEYS is definitely worth a visit especially during happy hour - free starters etc and also a smaller restaurant Brian runs the bar ,

STARSTRUCK ( i could nt remember the name for a minute , but the kids would as he let them watch britains got talent , whilst serving up great fish and chips and homemade steak pies - great value beer as well ( 2 euros a pint ).

We only eat once in the hotel for a buffet breakfast on the last day, very nice , 20 euros for 2 adults and two children ??? too much choice really , we wher paying approx 12-15 for a tradional breakfast in los christanos ??

Have a great time and i hope you enjoy your Holiday , would we return.,.. at the moment with the exchange 1.21 I think I would be tempted to look at a half board option or somewhere a little closer to the action.

cheers

Myself, partner and 3 children aged 2, 9 and 10 stayed at the Villa Mandi in May 2008 for a week self catering, the apartments are very spacious and clean, maids arrived every day to clean and make the beds, it is a very quiet location and you would need to walk for about 15 minutes before you would get anywhere, we took a taxi into Playa De Las Americas every night for food and it would cost around 7 euros each way, the pools are great although a bit cold, there is a little supermarket on site which is a bit exspensive and the nightly entertainment was ok, but good for the children, although I would say Thomson as a Company are not to good, as there was no one there on arrival at Tenerife airport except someone outside with a clipboard saying which bus to get on, the plane journey was ok on the way out, but everything seemed to be rushed on the way back, the plane is not very comfortable as there is not much room. The holiday itself and aprtments were Excellent but Thomson were Fair.

Went in May 2008 with my Wife and 4 year old son and had a fantastic time at a great apart/hotel. As with other reviews the hotel is spotlessly clean and well maintained with a small army of cleaners and gardeners. The hotel staff are friendly and very helpful. The location for us was great - 15 minute walk of an evening to some great italian restaurants or c. 5 euros in a cab and because it is out of the way it is nice and peaceful during the night. Thomson reps were great both during the day and the night time entertainment with Kidzone etc. Didn't bother eating there but some people we met did and said it wasn't very good. Would certainly go back.

A hotel with wow factor views. I visited this hotel last year with my 2 children aged 11 and 9. The hotel was immaculately clean, and the 2 bedroom apartments had 2 beautiful bathrooms. I felt very safe there as a single female with 2 girls. The pool can get busy at times, but there was always fantastic entertainment in the evenings and the Thomson Reps were intent on keeping the holiday makers happy. Food at the hotel was of a good standard and eating ares clean and tidy. Waiting for drinks from the bar around the pool was the most frustrating part about this holiday more often due to the language barrier from the waiting staff there. In good distance of los cristianos and its many lovely (and very reasonably priced) restaurants. Loads of shopping to be had in the centre of los cristianos you wont get bored, a nice evening walk of about 20 mins or taxi which i prefered costing around 4 euros from the hotel. Not a single negative comment to say really and one of the nicest and cleanest places i have stayed in a long time. I would certainly go back without hesitation, my girls loved it as much as i did.

If you are looking for a bargin, with clean, modern accomodation look no further. Me and my girlfriend were looking for a week getterway and were not dissapointed. Villa Mandi is quite new. Our appartment was not a mile away from an appartment that people would pay a few hundred grand to buy in London. More than enough space for 2, nice bathroom, probably the best accomodation I have stayed in in the Canaries (certainly for the price!).

You are a bit out of the way, but if you way up the benefits of this it makes sence. Although a good 20-30 mins walk to the nearest civilisation (no steep hills though and its good time to catch the sun when you are walking) or a few mins in a taxi (cost around 5 euro, or a little more after midnight) its so much cheaper because of that fact. If it were in the main town the price of this accomodation would be 3 times more so its worth doing. There is a free bus on a couple of times a day also to take you and bring you back from the beach. Its location is great as you have 3 options. The nearest place to walk to is actually Las Americas. But before you get worried about drunken yobs everywhere (and I was one of them not too long ago) its in the nice end of las americas, miles from the drunken youths and a place I never knew existed. Its fantastic. Just across from the 5 star hotels is a fantasic precinct with a fountain display every hour to music and a good selection of quality restaurants and places to drink (Bobbies does great cocktails). Just ask a taxi driver to drop you off at the Mediteranian resort hotel and you are right there. For about £10-15 per head you can get a fantastic meal and wine. I couldnt believe what we getting for the prices. Further on is the Cristianos resort (prob avout 30 mins walk from here or shorter taxi ride) which is more traditional. Some cheaper places to eat (some real bargins) or the nicer restaurants, again fantastic value and very good quality food. Or if you want the loud and boozy culture then ask a taxi to take you to Yates in las americas and you hit the proper night life (not for the faint hearted of you). So you can choose from 3 holidays basically, all close enough to get to on a couple of quid in a taxi, but far enough apart to keep a definite seperation.

In the day you can walk miles along the sea front right from the harbour of los cristianos to the busy beeches in las americas with plenty of places to eat or drink along the way.

Cheepest drink had was on the sea from during the day £1 a pint. Dearest was at Monkey bar in the nice area of las americas, about £6 a cocktail (one to be avoided, and they dont bring you change either!).

I will def go back and would recommend it to anyone. Excellent reception staff. Thomson reps do lots for the kids. Wouldnt recommend half board as the food served in the restaurant was typical poor quality and there is so many excellent value places to eat in the towns. Book it!

We stayed for 14 days at Villa Mandi. We booked 6 weeks before departure and the holiday was advertised as being a long way from the nearby resorts so we were concerned that this may be a problem.

However, we liked the location. It was a 15-25 minute walk to either Los Cristianos or Las Americas. On the hotter days the walk seemed to take longer but we enjoyed the walk and it gave us the opportunity to burn off some calories.

The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and the Thomson reps were excellent. The onsite supermarket had all we needed, fresh bread, daily papers, ice lollies etc and the restaurant and bar catered for all our needs.

There are two pools, minigolf, a children’s play area and indoor amusement arcade with approx 4 games.

We would recommend Villa Mandi. It is the best holiday we have had to date and hope to return there again in 2008.

Just spent a week staying at Villa Mandi and we wish we had booked for 2 weeks. We didn't want to come home because the place is fantastic and the staff are very helpful and polite.

Stayed in room 226 at the front of the complex. Nice big clean apartment with loads of space and big balcony which is south facing so we got the sun all day long. Room was made up everyday and was spotless.

Breakfast 6 Euros and plenty to choose from including cereal, yoghurt, pastries etc etc.

Two swimming pools and a baby pool which is ideal for kids as it is heated. Big patio area and plenty of sunbeds.

20 min walk to Los Cristianos. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from and would recommend going to Miami Beach restaurant which is on the Front in Los Cristianos.

Cant wait to return next year for 2 weeks.
