Just returned March 12th 2010. Very clean, food good staff hard working and friendly. Ask the lovley lady in the wellness centre to show you around,on your FIRST day. Not in anyway medical just magical. We only found it on our 11th day out of a 14night stay. Overhall very very good hotel. Would go again.
- Advice: try it, it was a good all round hotel, love it.

Stayed for a week over the new year - family with two older teenagers. a bit worried after reading the reviews, but this hotel seemed to have everything we were looking for. it did not let us down, on the contrary, we did not want our holiday to end. the location is good, near bus station and all major roads, when hiring car etc. we travelled to mogan and took our boat trip from there. all taxis on meter, so no problems. Buses very cheap.
local beaches clean and beds quite reasonable.
yumbo centre and kasbah were expensive, commerical but ok for a different night out.
at the hotel the wellness centre is fantastic, but we love spas etc. The food was magnificent, especially new years eve - red, white and champagne on table - all staff greeting you with cocktails. all staff so friendly, to all nationalities, we had no problem communicating wtih anyone.
the nine of review for the rooms, need decorating, but were clean and freshened every day, big fridge in your room. all inclusive means what it says, beer is on tap you pour and help youself, as is water, just fill up any empty bottles for the beach. Ask for champagne wine etc. Anytime and you take to dinner, by pool in room etc. We were served quickly every day/night, despite busy time of year, no preferance shown to germans etc. As this is a german hotel in fact the germans spoke to us in english if they could. With all the endless amenities should be four or five star, will be going again. Wonderful holiday.

Just got back from a weeks stay at the Hotel Escorial and I am already planning going back.
The hotel was one of the best I have stayed in. The food is varied and plentifull, even for fussy eaters like my 11 year old. The facilities are brilliant and the staff are friendly and helpfull.
The all inclusive option is excellent value for money would definitely reccommend.

Absolutely fabulous holiday and accomodation. Reading some of the reviews before we went worried us, but we didnt experience any problems other people have mentioned.
Definitely should be rated as more than 3 star. Everywhere was spacious and clean. Limited space around the pool for sun loungers but this was not a problem for us (2x50+ females) as we prefered the roof sun area with tub or the garden with large jaccuzi and children's pool. If you have older children requiring the main pool you need to get a sunlounger early. You are not meant to reserve a lounger but needless to say people did.
The food was endless, fresh and hot. Breakfast 7-10, Lunch 1-3 (also bar pizza and snacks from 12 if you did not want to eat in the restaurant), Afternoon Tea and cake 4-5, Dinner 6-9. Ice cream was also available during the day. At each main meal there was so much choice, I would defy anyone not to like something. You could even have your fried eggs for breakfast or meat for lunch and dinner cooked in front of you, if you didnt want to eat from the meals in the hot plates. There was plenty of salad choice, fruit, bread and even a chocolate fountain. The list is endless.
Cold non alcoholic drinks are on tap all day, and beer available from 10.30 am, just help yourself. Lots of choice of alcohol and a list of what you can have in your "all inclusive" is in your room.
The biggest downfall is having to wear a band around your wrist to show you are inclusive, as you have to remember to keep moving it while sunbathing!
The rooms were lovely with balcony, two comfy chairs, a table and drying rack. We were on the 4th floor (430) above the hotel entrance which is on the side of the hotel looking from the main road, so nice and quiet. The sun rose our side, so it meant the rooms were cooler in the afternoon and evening. The windows had blackout curtains, nets and curtains. There was plenty of storage space and a TV, which enabled us to watch the Olympics. Air conditioning available which I recommend in August.
There is a gym and wellness centre with indoor pool in the basement. Some things such as massages you had to pay for. Part of the area is for nudists, as is a concealed part of the roof terrace, so beware if you are not into this. There is a crazy golf course on the 3rd floor around a garden built in the centre of the hotel above the reception area. The rear of most of the rooms are around this in a crescent shape.
We found the hotel location good as it was 5/10 minutes from the main shops and bars. It was also 10/15 mins from the main beach. A nice walk down but suggest you use the lift back up, which is disguised in a shopping/restuarant area. The beach was lovely and clean with plenty of sunbeds to hire. It was 7.50euros for 2 beds and an umbrella per day, cheaper if you didnt want both of the beds and/or umbrella. It is quiet breezy so the Atlantic has lots of breaking waves. You need to keep children at the waters edge. Not ideal for swimming. Plenty of people with boards so good for this.
We only stayed for a week but wish it could have been two. Would definitely recommend it for couples, families or friends. There was a real mix of cultures and group sizes. We had no problems with staff or other guests. Staff were helpful and considering there were at least 5 different nationalities they had to communicate with, they were excellent. If you have a few words of Spanish it is appreciated as please and thank you in any language goes a long way.
The only thing at the hotel we paid for was hiring the golf clubs at 1 euro each, so the holiday represented real value for money, especially with the rate of exchange at the moment. The added bonus for us, is that we flied from Manston Airport in Kent, bypassing the need of getting round the M25 to Gatwick. Also car parking is much cheaper (£20 for up to 2 weeks) and within yards of the airport entrance. Within half an hour of landing we were in our car on our way home.
Go see for yourself this is a 4star+ holiday, which I rate as 9.8 as nobody is perfect but this is as near as is possible.

This was mine and my boyfriends first holiday away together on are own, we stayed at the hotel for two weeks and we were made to feel very unwelcome, to begin with the hotel was full of Germans who were very rude, seemed to talk about us and stared constantly. I found it very intimadating and it did start to upset me and make me angry towards the second week of our holiday. The Germans seem to be the hotel escorials main priority and we were made to feel like out casts.
We were also very angry that for the whole two weeks of our stay we had no English television channels, we were told that they were available with in the price we had payed for the holiday but when we had checked for this all we could find was spanish and german channels, we then complained about this and was told that they were missing something from the saterlite and that it should be sorted by the next day, it wasn't, so every other day we had to ask when this was getting sorted but the receptionists became very rude towards us, there was no apology and they did't want to know, it never was sorted so me and my partner was unable to spend a quiet night in watchin the t.v.
We were also told that the air-conditioning was available for 2euro per day so we asked to have this for just one night as we had not had much sleep due to the heat in the rooms and had to get up early in the morning for an excursion we had book and wanted to get a good nights sleep, the receptionist then told us that we was not allowed it for just one night so we explained that it said 2euro per day and it wasn't a weekly charge and she became rude and started storming around eventually doing it for us, the next day we got a phone call from them telling us to return the card although we had only had it for 12hours and we had payed for 24hours. There was a lack of communication from the recepionists to us and they got very rude when you weren't a mind reader.
The pool area was satisfactory, very cramped, so we often went on the roof solarium which was very nice and relaxing with amazing veiws and a jacuzzi to cool down in.
The Hotel itself is really beautiful, a hidden treasure. The wellness centre is very impressive, The rooms were absolutly fine and kept clean with maids coming in with fresh towls and bedding every day. The entertainment was disappointing with barely any space to watch the acts. I thought the meals were nice with lots to choose from, and the snacks through the day were great.
I would recommend the area, and the hotel which is lovely if you are willing to put up with people staring alot and the staff being rude when you are asking for their help.

This hotel was great. We were in an excellent location just a 5 min walk to beach and irish centre. The wellness centre was amazing... I was here for 2 weeks with my boyfriend and we spent lots of time down there! The entertainment is shocking! The only bad thing I have to say about the hotel. However I would recommend that anyone going to playa del inglis should DEFINATELY visit the Yumbo centre which is onli about 4 euro away in a taxi from the hotel. It was the best nights we had with the best shows. The food was ok..considering the hotel had to cater for Brittish, German & Dutch. The rooms were very clean with the maids coming round everyday. Overall I would recommend this holiday to anyone going to playa del inglis. Definately value for money.

myself and 6 friends have just come back after a weeks stay at escorial hotel on a all inclusive basis well were should i start iknow wow.... what a fantastic hotel it should be a 5 star at least.. the food was great and varied every day we travelled with two very fussy eaters and a vegatarian and lets just say no one went hungry. the rooms were kept exceptionly clean as was the whole hotel. the poolarea was great i read on one review the sunns goes off pool at 2pm this isnt true the sun is on pool from8 till 8!!and the wellbeing centre in the basement is absolutly fantastic the spa and salt pool are nearly as big as the main pool...only one downfall is an awful lot of germans... and they are so rude!! but everything else outwayed that by far. for a really good night out next door to hotel is two bars one called flashback open to 3am then when that closes if u like u can go next door to that to one called the point open to 6am both bars were great we had abrilliant night out in them well wont bore you anymore if u want afantastic hotel at these cheap prices book this one!!!!

Do not listen to bad reviews about this hotel, whoever dosent like it must be really picky!! Escorial is pertfect, the food is great plenty to choose from the varity is brilliant, the wellness centre is amazing would rate this as 5*, rooms are basic but clean why do you need a fancy room? Maids are in every morning cleaning & changing bed sheets etc. I was also very surprised with the drinks as its all the real spirits, smirnoff vodka etc so you wont be drinking paint stripper like most all inclusive hotels supply. Staff are all very helpful & you never wait long to be served. My only fault on this hotel is the entertainment as its very poor but theres plenty nightlife thats only 5min walk away. This hotel is in the perfect location close to everything, 5min walk to irish centre & 10min walk to english centre. I would recomend this hotel to everyone travelling to playa del ingles.

My husband and me spent an unforgettable week at this hotel last year. It should be a 5star one!!! It had a beautiful garden, roof terrace with a spa and superb wellness facilities. The rooms were cleaned every day. The food was fantastic!! Lots of different meals for everyone's taste, plenty of fresh fruit, salads, desserts, etc. The staff were extremly helpful and worked very hard!! Very strongly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!

Despite paying for upgraded rooms we had only standard overlooking the motorway!
Rooms are tired but have all essentials and kept clean. Food gets a bit monotonous but there is choice and no problems geting seats.
Also no problem getting beds by pool or on roof terrace which was good. The sun moves off the pool in the afternoon so you need to move into the garden.
We were the only British there. No problem although the Germans seem to stare all the time.
The indoor pol area is super but it was unclear if adults only-one sign said under 12s to use before11am which implied those above 12 were ok and we had a couple of run ins about this.
Overall good value for money.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here and were slightly worried by reviews before we left. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised! The hotel was an absolute hidden treasure! Yes everyone has thier own little maons regarding the food but no hotels food is perfect;there is always repitition. The hotel staff were ok, not the friendliest but they did thier job well!
Our room was aboslutely gorgeous! It was colourful and comfortable and the view from our balcony was lovely, we had both the sea and the mountains! The bathroom was spotless and overall the room was kept in stunning condition. As the hotel is kind of a roundish shape when you step out of your room you are blessed with a beautiul garden type area within the middle of the hotels curve! Beautiful!
The pool was soooo cold but lovely! I never found the sunbeds to packed, but if they were then there was plenty of space round the back!
THE SPA!! OH MY GOD! What an amazing place! If you head downstairs you think you will end up in the boiler room... Instead you enter the fully equipped gym which is amazing and if you carry on, the wellness centre! This place is amazing!! Indoor spa pool, steam rooms and cold baths, tanning booths, jacuzzis, water beds, a salt bath which is fabulous!! Oh it was absolutely perfect and an excellent place to relax with your partner.
Next door is the games room, free internet, billiards, pool and bowling! Fab!!
Overall the location is fab! A short walk from the beach. Near to the town centre, but far enough away to svoid all the noise! Perfect location!
There were plenty of families and couples there so its kind of ideal for everyone! However, the entertainment was alightly lacking, there is a tiny dnace floor which is home to one entertainments team member or a couple singing. However, the parrot show was fab!
Its so lovely to sit outside of a night on the sunloungers or chairs and have a drink and enjoy the entertainment!
Overall, the best holiday i have ever been on, because of not only the place but the hotel!
ENJOY!

World Class spa in basement that is included in your all inc deal, you must go in the rasul (heaven) and the salt pool that looks like it has be dug out of a cave. the gym is exceptionally well equipt too... this place could cost a fortune elsewhere... the only extras you need to pay are for treatments that involve a therapist and the tanning booths - but why bother with them when you have a sun deck at the pool, or a roof sun terrace on the top floor of the hotel. (watch out for the nudists!)
the spa tub on the roof is not heated and is iiiicceee cold, but you can't have everything...
the spa on the ground is nice temp though, the tennis courts i can't comment on as im not a sporty type, but really can't forget the games room with pool tables, ten pin bowling lanes, comp[uter terminals etc. ohh i forgot the mini golf course on the 7th(?) floor... only con is the area, rubbish tele ( not good during volcanic ash issues) and the safe is hired at a quite expensive rate.
The food was good, but could of been more varied... and yep the hotel is full of mature Germans, they are not hostile, or rude - just not exceptionally social! if you try they will try to communicate - so dust of your GCSE German and give it ago (Although English music Kareoke didn't go down well at all!! - not enough david hasslehoff me thinks :)
