Had a fabulous, relaxing holiday in idillic surroundings. Everything about the hotel & staff was of a very high standard. The Sicilean buffet night was certainly a night to remember because the food was just out of this world! Only minus was not having any tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. Did have to pay 14 euros every day for sun loungers & a parasol but you were on your own private beach with very few children.
The trips to Etna & Stromboli were superb ~ especially seeing Stromboli at sunset. If you go in August though take high factor sun lotions as it is very hot. I was using factor 50 for the first week!!

After returning from our holiday at the 4* Hellenia Yachting Hotel, Giardini Naxos, Sicily.
This is very nicely situated by the beach, the Hotel is clean and reasonably friendly, and the food is good. But the room we were allocated (no. 4) was not a very nice room, it is on the ground floor and located very near to the kitchens, with the smells of the cooking fumes, which came directly into our room and made our clothes smell of burning fat.
There was also a smoke which descended into the room during the kitchen cooking times. We were eventually moved 4 days after lots of complaining, never the less avoid this room, and other rooms nearby.
If you go to this resort, with this tour operator and you land in Palermo Airport, prepare yourself for a 5 1/2 hour transfer with only a 10 minute break, they do state in their brochure that it is 3 hours. This is unfortunately the not the case.
Newmarket were not the ideal company to travel with, unfortunately what happened to us really did spoil our holiday.

We booked this hotel for our Honeymoon. Unfortunately I do not feel it was all it claimed to be.
The reception and exterior of the building is very nice but inside, the hotel is starting to look a bit old.
Many tiles were missing from the bottom of the pool, the rugs were dirty, the rooms are quite dark and small, our room and balcony lacked any form of privacy and unfortunately most of the staff were quite unfriendly.
In it's current state I do not agree this is a 4 star hotel, however, with a bit of money, time and staff training I think it could be easily improved.

We have just come back from our holiday at Hellenia Yachting Hotel, in Sicily, which was very nicely situated by the sea.
But we were allocated room number 4 which was on the ground level, and very close to the kitchens. We would wake up to the horrible stench of burning fat and a nasty mist would fill the room. This would start to build up from 6.30am and started again in the evening, when they began to prepare the meals.
I am positive this problem was because they never cleaned out the filters.
We would have to open the window to clear the room of this horrible mist and smell, our eyes would sting, and our clothes smelt of the local chippy! You could see the mist leaving the room out of the window when we opened it, this was most embarrassing as the room was on ground level and people could look straight into the room as they walked passed along the path leading into the hotel, they must have wondered what on earth we were doing.
Avoid the ground floor rooms especially number 4 at all costs. We were eventually moved after four days.
If you are travelling with Newmarket Holidays, you must be aware if you land at Palermo Airport be prepared for a 5 to 6 hour transfer coach trip with only a 10 minute break, horrendous, we flew from Bournemouth to Palermo, never again!! We were told by Newmarket that the transfer time was only 2 to 3 hours max when we booked our holiday.
On our return transfer trip back to Palermo Airport to get our flight home the air-conditioning didn't work on the coach, the temperature was 45 degrees outside, we were dripping with perspiration and unbearably hot.
The coach also broke down two hours away from the Airport, we had to get out and stand on the hard shoulder of the motorway and wait while the driver tried to fix it. We had no tour representative travelling to or from the airport only the Italian driver who could not speak English.
I blame Newmarket Holidays for this because they do not give the best of service to their paying customers, I would also like to point out that this was not a cheap 'O' bargain holiday, we paid for a four star holiday which we certainly did not get.

Having travelled around the world and having visited Italy several times, My wife and I were looking forward to our first visit to Sicily and to experience the local ways of life and of course the food. Upon our arrival we were issued our room, which was very small and not the standard I expected from a 4 star hotel but worst was to come.
The restaurant in this hotel looked at best average with what can only be described as old painted and dirty dressers sited in the corners of the room with condiments, cutlery etc on them. The menu's were very basic and repetitive, the servings were small and NOT Italian of Sicilian, the vegetables were over cooked and were very soggy the meat or fish dried or tough, the deserts were thawed out frozen cakes or sweets that you can get in any supermarket. I felt that some of the vegetables and indeed some of the starters were from tins as I have had them before from the local supermarket. The restaurant manager was extremely abrupt and down right rude.
On a Friday they put on a buffet outside which is about a 6 out of 10 were they show off about 6 chefs. I believe this is to give the impression that there are several chefs cooking dinner for you on the other 6 nights, however as you can see the kitchen from the main street, I observed that there were no chefs in the kitchen during the time that dinner was being served and dinner had been prepared earlier and kept on hot plates and dished out.
In Summary, after visiting Italy several times along with France, Spain and even across the USA, this has to be the worst hotel I have stayed.
