Tivoli Jardim Hotel

The weather was warm and sunny (unusually warm, according to the taxi driver who brought us from the airport for 12 euros), and perfect for sitting out on our little balcony (never mind the view of the distant street when the winter sun is warming your skin!)with a bottle of vinho verde and a plate of olives (from the Convenient Store a few hundred yards down the street - which incidentally also sells corkscrews for those weekend international travellers like us who only have carry on luggage and so can't carry bottle opening equipment.... more

Wife and I stayed there for three nights. Liked everything about the hotel from the very helpful staff to the excellent location, convenient to the Baixa, restaurants and the Metro. Would certainly return if the occasion arises.

We were really impressed with this hotel. It may not have the most attractive exterior but you can't beat it for location or value. Its a pleasant 10 minute walk down the city's most exclusive tree-lined boulevard into the centre. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've ever had and the staff are incredibly attentive. We were celebrating a birthday whilst there and champagne and cake were brought up to our room completely unprompted! They had noticed on the passport - very thoughtful!! My wife and I were very impressed with our stay in this hotel. The service was excellent, the stuff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The food in the hotel was very good (if you too tired to go out after a day of browsing the city). The hotel location is perfect. Everything is within a reach, a lot of fantastic restaurants around. I agree wholeheartedly with the comments of the previous review. This hotel is a fairly generic style chain hotel of a reasonably high standard for the money. Rooms were clean with nice bedding and towels and a good general standard of decoration (Our only complaint was that the bed we had was very hard!). The one occasion we contacted reception to ask for more pillows they arrived within 5 minutes and the staff were all helpful. The location of the Tivoli Jardim is wonderful - you're within easy walking distance to the Baxia and there are plenty of places to eat and stores around. Staff at the hotel were friendly and cheerful and were happy to give helpful advice. My issue with the hotel is the rooms. They don't seem to have been updated since the 1970s. The room was musty, old-fashioned, and dark. Its a shame, because so much of the rest of the experience at this hotel was so positive, but I would not stay there again unless they updated their rooms.

We stayed at the Tivoli Jardim from 26th to 29th September as part of an Expedia package. Be warned - the hotel is very ugly on the outside - a bit of a 60/70s concrete monolith. Upon arrival we were met by a porter who promptly took my heavy bag from me and lead us into reception. We were checked in quickly and taken up to our room where the porter put the case on a case shelf for us (and I'm afraid I didn't tip as I never know what is expected). I stayed at the Tivoli Jardim for 5 days in September. The staff were friendly , always happy to help and my room was fine without being luxurious. When you arrive the exterior looks a bit soviet but inside everything was lovely. The location in central Lisbon was perfect for exploring the town. I would definitely stay there again if I returned to Lisbon. The breakfasts were great too.

Great hotel, excellent location - short walk from main square. Worth staying here as opposed to the 5 star because you use their facilities anyway. Very friendly desk staff. Definitely rate this hotel as worthwhile.

After a week-long stay on business at this downtown hotel, I left with the impression of a good three-star hotel with some predictable strengths and weaknesses. It is certainly better value than the five-star Tivoli Lisboa next door, and an astute guest can take advantage of that hotel's amenities.
