Have recently returned from a 2 week holiday at the Blue Lagoon in Kos. We had a wonderful holiday and the accommodation was very good. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. However, lunchtime was like feeding time at the zoo, absolute carnage. The hotel is... more

Don't know why there are any negative review regarding this resort? I have been all over europe and can honestly say i have never had such a chilled and enjoyable holiday! Clean, first class food and the most attentive of staff. Ok it's 2k from Kos town, but there are regular buses(1.40 eruo's) or taxi's (7 euro's). I will be back!!

Management response from Management Blue Lagoon Group (Management representative) Sept 12, 2010 Dear Guests, We would like to thank you for taking time to review the Blue Lagoon Resort and for your comments. We appreciate all kinds of comments, and all the reviews are a great source for us to constantly improve our services for the best. The Blue Lagoon Resort operates only on an All Inclusive basis featuring a selection of restaurants , bars and a daily animation program, providing lots of fun and entertainment and unforgettable holiday experience. We are very sorry to hear that the food and beverages was a point you did not enjoy in our hotel, however there is a constant variety with themes changing everyday also the different thematic restaurants offer all kinds of cuisines from around the world. Concerning our wedding services, a reserved area for a wedding dinner costs 300€ and through this cost we offer the list of the below services: - White linen for the tables, white linen napkins for all the guests, chair covers - Flower decoration for the tables and the area - Balloons decoration on the color scheme of the wedding - Waiter service for the drinks during the dinner - Glass bowls with sand, stones and candles for the table - Space for the first dance of the wedding couple - CD Player for the music of the area - Set up of the table according to the couple preferences (U shape , round, head table for the wedding couple) According to our records you had arranged for your wedding ceremony at the Tent of our hotel, the wedding reception afterwards at the Faros Bar and the dinner later at the BBQ Restaurant. Each of these separate venues cost 300€ including reserved areas in each. At the end you only accepted to pay 300€ for the wedding ceremony although all the above were arranged according to your wishes. We thank you once again for your comments and also for taking time to write this review. We hope to welcome you again to one of our Blue Lagoon Group of hotels. Kind regards, The Management Blue Lagoon Group

Dear Family Warrington, We were very surprised to read your review in Holiday Watchdog. Fortunately we can add our view of your stay with us thus shading some light to the background of your review. As a 5* All inclusive Resort open to all guest types and not just teenagers, our main concern is to offer all our guests the best holidays possible. In return, all guests have to behave in an orderly manner and respect some rules and regulations set for their own safety and comfort. We all have in one way or another some experience with teenagers and certainly sometimes they can behave a bit out of the ordinary. From the point of some freedom to getting to the point of causing damages in the property and their room in particular as well as disturbing their neighbors or trying to run off the property (twice) dressed only in the hotels’ bathrobes in order to visit Kos “Barstreet” , as you can understand there is a line that has been crossed. We could get into many more details of your party’s teenagers erratic behavior (proof of which we have at hand) and as you well know your First Choice Representatives and Local Office are also aware of all incidents that happened during your stay with us. It is unfortunate that you had to pay for the damages caused but you are still responsible for their actions as their legal guardian. For all damages charged, proof and receipts were presented and all were justified to you and your Holiday Representative. We also agreed not to exercise our legal right to force you to change hotel out of respect to you as parents. At the end of the day, our main concern is the well-being of all our customers and in some cases we have to be strict in order to ensure everyone’s safety and quality of holiday. We are a serious enterprise with many successful years in this highly demanding business and our everlasting goal is to provide a safe environment for high quality all inclusive holidays. The Blue Lagoon Resort Management Team.

Not 5* more 3* DEFINATLY not all inclusive
right , just returned from a week at the blue lagoon resort, and glad we met some great people to make light of what could have been awful. the hotel itself looks very good, (although not surprising as new hotel, that was built in 2 months from start to finish, using finish loosely as nowhere near completed). the pool is fabulous and quite stunning, although quite cold. now all inclusive you imagine that that includes food drink snacks etc...... well aparently not here, you get offered breakfast which you may wanna try(if ya brave) you get lunch (again not good) then dinner (basically the same each night) not the hottest of food, but the fresh bread is nice enough. snacks consist of a cheese and ham toastie that resembles cardboard, but only between 3 and 6 pm drinks.... now this is where is gets good !!!! brandy that resembles paint stripper, vodka that resembles nail varnish remover, or ouzo. then the soft drinks "coca cola" (actually more rola cola) "sprite" (no where near sprite) can recommend the soda water .... no one can sod that up!!!!! or beer which is not too bad at all, but you can only have so much. so we bought our own at the supermarket and drank in the hotel to which one of the bar staff said "don't blame you ours is --" now the staff, we found pleasent enough, but never really nasty to them, although saw the reaction people had when complained to them. at the end of the day this holiday cost less than a self catering one so still saved money. now word of warning ,if you go, take care when or if hiring the buggies or GO KART things, although cheap to hire and fun, THEY BREAK, the wheels come off and the brakes are useless, so do yourself a favor and go by bus. anyway we were lucky to meet some great couples and went out every evening and most days, so the hotel was only a base, think without the laughs this would have been a holiday from hell. if you book with trust accomodation dont bother to complain the rep will only run away and hide, with the attitude of dont upset the staff you dont know what they will do. so look at this as an advance warning or as a full board (ish) holiday that you will spend abit more than you hoped while there. kos is a nice enough place, the locals friendly, the scenery is ok. and cheap enough to enjoy. just try somewhere other thn the bluelagoono resort if you want 5*
do not go
this hotel is no where near five star it has been the worst hotel i have stayed the food is a joke its ths same everday its cold on one occasion i choked from hair in my dinner and the butter was off the staff in restaurant are very pleasent but when it comes to having drinks on the bar all inclusive i was told on a few occasion 15 mins before 2300 no go way just must finish your glass and was made to feel very small.I took my nine year old son and there was nothing for him to do the animation team were all german not a problem with germans but this whole hotel is catered for germans only all the information boards and enterainment which is also joke my son picked up a ball which he had been playing with the animation team took it from him and said you must pay 10 euros desposit i said you are here to entertain and she said no children only 18 to 30 i was sold this holiday on the understanding it had childrens entertainment the pools are nice but death traps dut to being slippery the rooms are clean but not kettles or fridges you have to pay for itt for i dont expect to pay for this in five star .one family had two young children she had to pay 80 euros for fridge and 20 euros for kettle this whole holiday was a rip off i spent most of my money on meals please dont waste your time even considering this holiday from hell very stressed family from gloucester
the truth!!!!
Ok guys, here goes... i am really not a fussy person so i will tell all what the low down is on the hotel.....Food- have to say breakfast is a NO NO! it was either artificial or not very edable in the two weeks i stayed i only had 1! the general food is not that bad the thing i will say is that they do repeat themselves an awful lot on the main meals so if you like alot of variety all the time dont go!. Ok now the people definatly alot of german i dont have a problem with this at all but does it kill to crack a smile! the bar staff are fine they will serve you when they can just let yourself be known. the only entertainment i did was the kareoke (I rocked) the rest is not very english but the holiday reps did try too translate it in to both. the room was ok very clean tiny baths and showers but we didn't spend much time in them anyway..all in all it really was not the worst or the best. would i go there again? No because the all inclusive side is a waste of money its cheap enough to eat out.

Hotel completeley refurbished and extended to 457 rooms (including 80 family rooms with separate bedroom) . Will operate under Riu management using the brand LUCA (LUCA BLUE lAGOON RESORT the new name). Will be a positive surprise for everyone .

Not as bad as I thought when reading the reviews!
First of all, we were quite late in the season (end of August, beginning of September) so the redecorating was completed. Have to say, the first impression was almost magical. It looked world-class and we couldn't wait to get to our rooms, but we had to eat first. That was the moment I dreaded, because of the awful reviews I'd read before going. To my surprise, the food wasn't that bad. Sure, in a restaurant you'd probably get better quality (although one in Kos city would make you think otherwise) but then again, most restaurants would charge you more. There was a wide choice, meat, fish, pasta, vegetables, bread, etc. The drinks were a bit on the cheap side, but I only tried the juices. On to the rooms: not a lot of effort had gone in to decorating, but they were really really clean! Little sidenote: be careful wih the airco, you can catch a cold in no time if you're a little overenthusiastic. Pool was lovely, we were located near "Das Aktivpool!!" as the entertainment team reminded us of everyday when they were announcing their activities, which I have to say is really annoying. Music was okay, sometimes you'd get a bit fed up of hearing a song several times an hour, and if you're located near the disco and are having some trouble with the noise: if you tell reception they might relocate you. Which brings me to their staff, they are really really helpful. The cleaners are superb and very considerate (almost like ninja's sometimes, you only leave your room for 5 minutes and boom! it's tidy and clean again), reception was always willing to answer your questions. Little note: don't break or stain anything because it will cost you. Overall this hotel really surprised us. Locationwise it was good, enough taxis to bring you to Kos town in no time and cheaply too, very clean, food was okay, even the German entertainment didn't annoy us that much, apart from the announcements. It is true what's been said though, the vibe of the hotel is mostly aimed on the age group of 18-30. If you want peace and quiet, I'd recommend to look further, If you want a fun holiday without being too fussy about food, then the Blue Sea (or Blue Lagoon, the part where we stayed) is a good option.
Good, it has been elarged
First of all, I'm Italian. Before leaving, I read in internet that this hotel was a three star hotel. But when I arrived, I find out that the hotel was enarged, with a new structure, named Laguna resort, with five stars. Good! This is my opinion: - It isn't worth 5 stars, but it's better then a 3 stars. - Rooms are simple, but cleaned and with a lot of spaces for your things. For the air conditioning, you have to ask for the remote control in reception. - The swimming pool is wonderful, too wonderful. Maybe that you forget to go to the sea, even for the all inclusive that give you all the beers and toasts you want. - The al inclusive: it's not true that you have to wait long for your drink. Probably till July there was only a bar. Now there are three bars (only two open). You can drink soft drinks, beer, wine, ouzo and in the evening also vodka lemon and brandy cola (till 11 pm). Snacks are not very good (only a kind of toast). - The animation is only dutch speaking (terrible the karaoke in dutch). But don't worry, kos town is not far, and the city is very nice. Don't stay in hotel! - The position of the hotel: this is the worst thing. It's near kos town, the centre, the pubs, the asklepeio... but the sea is not very beautyful in the north of the island. The best beach are in the south (kardamena, camel, paradise, agios stefanos) and they are 35 km far. You have to rent a motorcycle or, better, a car. Some suggestions about the island. Don't miss: - a dinner with sunset in Zia. - a boat trip of the three island - a night bath in the thermae of agios fokas - a day on the beach of camel beach and agios stefanos (paradise is too full of people) - a fish lunch/dinner in limionas, after enjoying the panorama from kefalos. That's all. Have a good time.
arrrrgggh
food awful, cant get a drink unless you wait half an hour ate out every nite ok if fluent in german never again
Marvelous swimming pool
I am probably not the first to say that the all inclusive concept is to be considered very, very poor. As it comes to the food there is absolutely no variaty. According to the information found on their website, you can order throughout the day a variaty of snacks. In real life this comes down to just one snack offered to you between 12.00 and 18.00, being a terrible tosti, an insult to my taste papils. For dinner, basicly each day the same. It was eatable and well prepared, however not to my liking. Pasta/ noodles, some potatoes and a variety of vegitables. For dessert there were a few puddings -OK- and water mellon. The same goes for lunch. For breakfast I was never around as I was sound asleep due to the hangover I suffered, caused by long nights at Bar street in Kos city -Bar street I can recommed to anyone-. Drinks are for free till 23.00 and not even all drinks. Beer, vodka mixes and ouzo mixes are free to take, however when you are not an attractive young girl, or worse a guy, you won't get served instantly. As soon as you take your first zip of your beer, you should order a new one immediately if you don't want to be empty handed for 15 minutes. Ridiculous to my opinion. Bar tending is something these bar tenders are not suit for. Than the animation, brrrrrr, fully German orientated. The won't speak any other language, not even English. Unless off course you are a quite attractive young girl. Then they will give it a try. In bad English though. There sure is one plus to this hotel and that is the swimming pool. A swimming pool like never seen before. So majestic it will take you quite some time to swim around. More plusses are the clean rooms and the staff -aside from the animation and bar tenders-. The last days of our visit the new restaurant and reception were opened to public, which compared to the old ones, were quite an improvement. Overall I would say don't go here, unless your German tongue is excellent and you don't mind stop drinking at 23.00 and spending a lot of money eating out. If you can choose between this all inclusive (not) concept hotel, or a much more cheaper appartment somewhere in Kos city, I would say, choose the latter as this all inclusive concept is a complete waste of your money. Food and drinks in Kos city are very reasonably priced. Well, that's it. Have fun if you go there, however I would say DON'T!!!!
For the youth
The hotel is quite nice (a large extension is now in progress). The food was good, the room (small) very clean and the personnel was kindly. The hotel is suitable for young peoples (from 18 to 30): all day long hard music, sometimes till 2 AM ! The animation is 90% german language, like the most part of the guests. My general impression: good hotel for a good price but not for older peoples.
Good hotel with natural sorrunding
I recomend the hotel to youngsters especially in the main season. The anymations are only in German and they don't worry about it at all... The staff is nice except the bartenders, they are terible. The all inclusive is a bit pure but is ok. The kitchen is nice, and the hotel rooms are very clean. The city is 30 min. by walk, and 5 minues by bus. The beach in front is very windy and natural, liked it very much. The nearest well equiped and not windy beach is about 10 minutes by walk. Kos is a fantastic island for those, who like the busy cities and also the wild anture beaches and mountains. Had a very good time with my girfriend and family.
Moderate quality for a moderate price
The hotel is far from anywhere — if you don't want to rent a bike or car for the whole stay you'll need to depend on public transportation. A single ticket to Kos cost EUR 0.70 (if you buy it on the bus you pay EUR 0.90). Don't expect much from a 3-star hotel. The rooms are small, so are the bathrooms and balconies. The greens surrounding the hotel look miserable (not to say pathetic). I found the meals horrible. No choice for breakfast, cold and recycled waste for dinner. Repulsive indeed. The service is very friendly, English and German speaking. I truly believe that they'll do their best to assist you, that's Athina's strong point.
