Have just got back from a fantastic time in Malia. The Drossia palms helped make our stay. The rooms were clean, as was the pool. It is situated not far from the beach, at one end of the strip, yet it is a quite place and you feel very safe there. The staff are very nice and... more

First of all the Drossia Studios are not the same place as Drossia Palms in Malia (about 50 meters apart) so dont get them mixed upThe Drossia Studios are in a fairly good location for the beach (approx 100m) but they have no pool. Opposite the studios is a rental firm for... more

Beautiful Hotel, Great Location
What a wonderful Hotel. Drossia palms is beautiful, clean and the perfect place to stay. The location is excellent if you are having a party holiday, relaxing holiday, any holiday!!!! So quiet in the evenings even though you are literally one minute from all the hustle and bustle. 24 hour bar and reception so you dont have to worry about safety. All in all we had a great stay and would definatley return. Try Sirtaki restaurant a few doors up.
drossia palms is a must stay
drossia palms is a great place 2 stay it is really close 2 the beach and all the bars n clubs but it is still quiet. the pool is always clean as r the rooms and whole hotel. antonio is the best barman if you c say belta from the geordies lol (he will remember us), he made u feel really welcome and we used 2 chat every nite. charlie did gud food 4 u 2 enjoy while sunbathing by the pool. all in all we had a brill time and will defo go there again soon.
Value for money
We travelled to Malia in May simply because it was cheap. I had never been to Crete and had heard all of the Malia horror stories so we were a little wary! We arrived at the apartments at 5.30am and after dropping our bags in the quite huge room (only 2 of us in a room meant for a family of 4. Bonus!) we popped down to the bar for a pint to help us sleep. The pool bar is 24 hour and is a perfectly pleasant place to chill post or pre night out. Our room was adequate - 2 balconeies, big wardrobe, bathroom and small kitchcen area. Maid service was enough but not the best I've experienced. Malia itself was ok - not busy so we did not experience the true horror of the whole Brits Abroad mob. The beach was beautiful - we loved the amazing weather and the clear warm sea. Night time was dogged by touts trying to drag you into empty bars. Got really annoying to the point where we changed our routes around town. Food and drink was VERY expensive. It was a total shock to pay an average of 8E for 2 pints of local lager and I did not see a cocktail for less than 5E and was simply not willing to pay. I suspect it because the Malia tourist is captive to the resort and therefore has no other option but to pay the exorbitant prices. The shopping was terrible too - I looked all over for a little treat to remember my trip and ended up with a 4E wooden bangle. There were loads of fake designer bag shops, ironically enough one of which was selling a copy of the bag I had with me for MORE than the price I payed in John Lewis at home!!! Gripes aside the apartments were very quiet, well positioned and superb value for money. I would go back but definately not in season - perfect May / Sept when the streets are quiet but the weather is great. The staff were friendly and the pool was clean.
Best place to stay in Malia
This was my 9th time in Greece and these were the best appartments i've stayed in ! Nice quiet location just away from the main road to the beach - you are ideally placed if you want a day at the beach or a night on the tiles. Just 2 minutes walk away are nice restaurants catering for Greek and more British tastes. Take a 10 minute walk up the hill to Sticky Fingers - by far the best food i had. Also on the doorstep are a few pubs , the best being Squeezebar who play quality rock and indie tunes - run by really nice folk who made my holiday fun. Normally in Greek appartments there is no shower curtain and bracket for the shower head , but here you have both - and added items like a tv and microwave. The only negative i found , were the maids were a bit noisy and rude when i had a hangover one morning. But i later found this was because another guest had been sick all over their appartment and hadn't cleaned up. If i return to Malia , i won't look anywhere else apart from Drossia Palms.
honeymoon heaven
we had an excelent time at the Drossia apartments, although Malia was at its quietest when we arrived. This was due to the fact the season started early last year. We had a brilliant time though. The two bars that where open at the time made us feel most welcome and helped us to have a boozy time!!!! would recomend going to Malia and staying in these clean and friendly apartments. Trying again this year in August so will see both sides of Malia, the quiet side and the busy side will keep you posted!!!!!!!!!
Excellent and a little paradise in malia
Gorgeous and relaxing to give you a rest of from the hustle and bustle of malia. At first its a bit scary as you see these bars and an alley but you walk through it and its gorgeous especially at night with all the pool and trees lit up. Excellent rooms, great staff and location. Would go again
Dont stay anywhere else in Malia
I stayed at Drossia Palms for 1 week in May 2007 with 3 girl friends, we wanted to lazy by the pool by day and party by night! And this is what we got. The Drossia Palms was the perfect location, the rooms were great, two beds, fridge, shower, sink, safe (payable locally) balcony, what more can you need. The pool area is amazing, very quiet and plenty of sun loungers. Bar/Food excellent, priced reasonably. Tom, the evening barmen, is an absolute star, he looks after you in 5* style, what ever you want Tom will give you ;-) If your thinking of staying in Malia, stay in this hotel you will not be disappointed. The other hotels we saw whilst in Malia didnt look a patch on these apartments. Dont expect luxury but they are clean, quiet and ideal base for a holiday in this busy exciting place!
Excellent location, friendly, no faults at all.
Stayed in this hotel at the beginning of june 2005 for 2 weeks. I absolutely loved every bit of it! The staff, the hotel rep, the pool and the food was really nice too. Set mid way on the malia mile strip it was an easy 10minute walk to the main clubs at the split. Went to the water park which was really great too, definatly recomend going there for the day. nearly died in the wave machine lol. dont drink and swim. Do not go on the lazy day cruise what ever they say. its rubbish! the booze cruise wasnt available when i went so we went on this thing. they took us over to a dry crusty island with gecko's on it and the barbi wernt nothing special either. any way back to the good stuff. the school disco was wicked will definatly take the uniform this time in july 2007. the foam party was cool too. except i lost my flip flop in the foam. watch out for the gypsies they are very sneaky yet quite sweet, just keep an eye on your pockets when your swinging them round in the air. the markets and shops are close too and reasonably priced. the restaurants were fab and the meals are big. Large variety of food to eat. getting carried away now, back to the accomodation. rooms were nice and spacious, i shared one room with two others. set behind a bar that played only fools and horses non stop but dont worry you couldnt hear it once on the accommodation grounds. felt very private. 99.9% excellent hotel. 0.1% bad (spotted one dead cockroach in the hallway, probably from the bottom of my shoe) So what are you waiting for! Give the agent a break and go to the Drossia Palms!
Paradise
Paradise Travelling through Malia I began to worry where I was staying. There were quite a lot of run down apartments especially the one we were dropped off at. Beware of the Minoa Appartments. We were taken down a narrow walk way into paradise. The setting has a beautiful pool, palm trees and bar (24hr may i add)! The owner of the hotel, Manos, was very friendly and warm and certainly made our stay comfortable. It's a family run hotel which is fantastic to see. The rooms were magic. Nice toilet and shower. TV. Small kitchen with a microwave and hob, which we never used because the food was that good at the apartments and cheap!!! There is air conditioning in the room which is 50 euro a week, well wortht!!! A bit of acvice, if you choose not to have the air con - BEWARE OF THE MOSQUITOS!!! The cleaners come in everyday and the place is spotless!!! The bar men Tom (English) and Gregory (Greek) made the best cocktails. This a fantastic place to stay and well worth paying that little bit extra for it. It's on the main strip however you hear no noise!!! It was a min walk to our local bar - the saltire lounge (scottish bar). Fantastic bar and atmosphere. Well worth a visit even if you're not Scottish.
An Oassis in the Hum Drum of Malia.
Drossia Palms Apartments Malia. [--] 5th May 2006 for 14 days. These apartments were an Oasis in the hum drum of Malia. Getting off the coach at 4am and going down a narrow passage we wondered where we were going. We did not need to be worried. The passage opened up into a little square that looked like a picture post card. It was a nice place to stay and the staff were friendly and excellent in looking after us. A good holiday all round
