I'm not normally one to complain but this is one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious and clean the room seemed, that was until we found an infestation of cockroaches in the bathroom.
I think I could have put up with this if only they hadn't managed to get into my wash bag and lay eggs. As for the rest of the hotel, the staff were friendly and more than willing to help. However the drinks and food at the hotel were too over priced in comparison with the rest of the restaurants and bars on the main street, which was about 20m away.
The trouble was Malia was just too boring, there wasn't a lot of activities to do in the day time and all the excursions were a rip off for example it cost around 40euros each for a half day trip on a boat.
I expected the beach to be one of the good parts of the town but we went there once to find it stank of sewage and was covered in rubbish. There were some good bars and restaurants on the main street but as we went a little early in the season most of the clubs were being renovated.
As value for money goes the hotel was ok. In comparison with other hotels at the resort, our apartment probably was a palace but I can't help but think the holiday was a real let down. Malia just wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be.

Having looked at all the reviews there isn't a lot to say that hasn't already been said.
I've stayed in this hotel in 04, 05 and 06 so I consider myself to know a fair bit about it.
Rooms:
The rooms are very clean, smart and comfortable. They are in no way unsafe! Having stayed there for a total of 4 weeks I never heard a single complaint about things going missing.
Staff:
The owners Manos and Rosso are very friendly laid back people, who will help you if you ask them too, otherwise they will leave you to enjoy your holiday.
Barbie who works in the day is a great girl who is happy to knock you up anything from the menu and is always smiling. The evening barman last year was Tom, an English guy whom is happy to chat and have a laugh while he passes the time. The night time bar man is Gregory, Gregory is as straight as an arrow.
If you are being loud he will tell you to shut up and if he thinks your shirt is horrible he will tell you to your face. He might sound a bit scary but he is a nice guy and you just cant help but like him.
Pool:
The pool is a standard square pool with plenty of loungers and free lilos if you wish to use them. It is surrounded by palm trees which makes it very relaxing and as with the rest of the hotel is kept very clean.
Location:
2 mins from the beach, 2 mins from the bars but still quiet as a mouse at night. It is also opposite the red lion which is cracking for food and 1 min away from the brasserie, the best local restaurant.
Food:
The food menu is basic but nice, just make sure you get it from Barbie not Gregory. The best he can manage is a toastie and he won't be happy about that.
I have been to Ibiza, Magaluf, Gran Canaria, Faliraki, and Malia. There is a reason I keep going back to Malia and that reason is the Drossia Palms! Enjoy your stay.

This may be late, as I did go there in July, however I'm looking to book for next year, same time and same place because of how amazing it was.
When me n the lads landed (7 lads first lads hol) we were lets just say very excited...we couldn’t wait to get to our hotel, the drive from the airport wasn’t the best but that was just having the worry that our hotel would be like some you see on the way.
Thank god it wasn’t. (Don’t be worried). After a funny bus journey we arrived at our hotel, I spotted the red lion on the opposite side of the road straight away, fantastic some gr8 grub to eat as well and I was proved right aswell...gorgeous!
We made our short walk from the bus to the entrance of the hotel.... it opened up and there was a good sized pool, great sized bar area and it looked amazing.
The rooms were fantastic, really clean and the air con is well worth the money except for you froze if it was on at night and you weren’t drunk...not often.
So to cut this long story short......DROSSIA PALMS WAS FANTASTIC...Manos the owner...what a guy so funny and the lads and I were sure he was in the mafia!!
And then Gregory the bartender, so funny and so straight with you, you get what you see and if he doesn’t like you or what you say he tells you...absolute comedy!!!
So my advice don’t even think about where your staying just stay at drossia by far the best hotel in Malia, and great location , step out and your at the party but you can still get a good nights kip that’s if you want one !!!

Superb! What more can I say?
Me and my wife stayed at the Drossia apartments in Malia and had a great time. The apartments have to be the best we have stayed in. they are very clean and spacious with small but nice terraces on the ground floor, the swimming pool area was really nice with a good sized pool.
They are ideally situated near the bottom of beach road, with the beach 2mins away.
The staff are fantastic also, Manos and Rosso (the owners) are very nice people and couldn’t do enough for you. Gregory the barman is brilliant and will make sure that you enjoy your stay. He is a really nice guy and also a very good friend, he looks after everyone.
Barbara who works the bar during the day is very nice and makes the most amazing breakfast. We made some really good friends with the staff and all the other holiday makers while we were there. We are already thinking of booking for next may, its that good.

Well what can I say this holiday was fantastic? I’m gutted to be home. I went for 2 week I landed there on the 26th Sept 06 and I’ve enjoyed every min.
The apartments are gorgeous. If I went back I would definitely stay here. Don’t let anyone put you off this hotel because it ace bar staff are so friendly. If you go tell Gregory I said hi. The best place to go for food is the brasserie and the best clubs are bananas, Malibu and Sugar. Go to star beach that’s a good day out.
If you go all see you there next year.

Excellent place wasn’t sure what to expect, the apartments were great so were the staff. We would love to go back here for another holiday.
The beach was just a stroll away and the night life was great too. You have to go to Malia old town as well, the atmosphere is great. I went out with Tom from behind the bar and he showed me where to go and introduced me to some of the girls who rep over there. It was a wicked time and thanks to them all.

First off the hotel was brilliant, for its location literally seconds from the night-life there was no noise at all. The staff were very helpful and where there 24 hours (bar as well which was great for a late night drink).
There was always sun beds by the pool free and the pool was nice and cool when things were getting too hot. The only downfalls about the hotel was the kitchen was a bit basic, only a microwave, fridge and hob, not very handy if you wanted toast and the maids don’t really give much notice they come in to clean the room, I got caught out a few times, my advice always keep a piece of clothing or towel by you at all times when your getting out the shower, other than that its 1 of the best hotels I’ve stayed in.
The resort has so much potential but a number of things bring it down, there are too many quads and scooters on the roads must be more than the people staying there and with the small streets it doesn’t help also walking up and down the main road you get stopped by a person at every bar or restaurant some are funny and a good laugh but some take it offensively if you get fed up and walk past them but the stopping alone gets a bit frustrating.
It has a very good night-life some of the bars and clubs reward good custom with free drinks which is always nice. I think they have cashed in on the English custom though some clubs is 5 euros a pint which is a bit steep.
Overall it was a great holiday if u can look past some of the downfalls you’ll always have a good time, I will probably be going back next year same hotel as well.

I am reading other people's reviews on this place and I can't believe what I’m reading! Me and ten friends went to Malia and stayed in Crete for a week from the 8th of August.
For value for money the accommodation was a complete rip-off. The manger/owner was polite until he was trying to demand money out of one of us which would be for something which was not completely our fault.
The state of the shelves where kitchen utensils were kept were disgusting, and I have a video on my mobile phone proving the despicable amount of dust left on the shelves where pans were kept.
Even when the doors were 'locked' people could easily break into them, and so things were going missing from rooms all week round. The beds in the room I stayed in, room 301, looked like army beds and was not the comfort I sought to have after a night out.
The constant feeling that someone was in my room when I was not there is nothing that anyone wants on a holiday and I advise anyone who is thinking of going to Malia not to give this hotel a second look. The only good thing about Malia itself is the nightlife. The people from the resort have now cottoned on to how much the English pay for drinks etc back home and so have jacked the prices up from past summers.
The atmosphere is really bad as it seems everyone wants to fight and felt threatened by our group as we were constantly making it seem like we were having a good time.
Word has obviously spread about Malia from last summer, the only shame is that it has flowed into the ears of the wrong people.

Myself and 3 friends stayed at the Drossia Apartments for 2 weeks on the 27th June.
The apartments were fantastic, we had a 1 bedroom apartment and it was huge and very clean, we also had a huge balcony too.
There pool area was always clean and there was a 24 hour bar as well which was handy.
Gregory the barman turned out to be a bit of a legend when it came to making us 4 girls cheese toasties at 5am.
I would definitely recommend the Drossia Palms and would have to say that out of all the hotels we came across in Malia, this apartments were certainly one of the best.
Malia itself was amazing and I can’t wait to return.

This was our first time in Malia, Crete and definitely will not be the last! In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we will definitely be returning for a 2 week holiday next summer!
The hotel was gorgeous, all the staff were extremely friendly, even the cute little puppy dog!
The pool was fab, as was the beach, which was literally a 30 second walk from the resort. The nightlife was just around the corner, and there was a Subway that was open 24/7! What more can we ask for?!
Anyway guys, have a great summer and we will see you next year!!

What can I say - fantastic holiday! Went for a week with my boyfriend, but I can recommend these apartments for both couples and singles who are looking for a fun break in the sun. The atmosphere was always friendly - we made lots of friends while we were there.
The pool bar offered drinks 24/7, so we could always come home after a night up the strip for another few cocktails with the fellow holiday makers who tended to gather at the bar, regardless of the time! Despite this, noise in the rooms was non-existent, so we could always get a good nights kip.
Food was also great - offered everything you could need - pasta, burgers, toasties, baked potatoes, chips - and it was cheap too. We tended to eat lunch there, and then go out to one of the many restaurants on offer in the surrounding area for dinner. The main strip was only 2mins away from our doorstep, but was far enough away to give us the privacy we wanted.
Would highly recommend joining in with the BBQ every Sunday during the summer - fantastic food and a great way to get to know everyone else while having a good few drinks before heading out for the night. I could go on . . . but to summarise . . . a brilliant holiday and I would tell anyone who wants a high standard of clean, basic accommodation, away from the main hustle and bustle of the strip, but which still has a lively atmosphere - go to Drossia Palms!

An amazing holiday and an amazing hotel! There is no need to research other hotels in Malia, just stay at the Drossia Palms... seriously!
I went with my best friend for a cheap, girly holiday so we expected a basic hotel. On arrival we walked down a small ally to get to the hotel and was amazed by how nice the pool/bar/reception area looked.
When we got to our room we were even more amazed at how lovely and modern it was. Our room was clean, spacious, and very nicely decorated.
The hotel is at the bottom half of the strip, near the beach, and everything is within walking distance. Even though the clubs are on your door step, you hear zero noise so we always got a good night sleep.
The staff were all very friendly but the cleaners did wake us up and kick us out of bed to change our sheets a few times.
Overall, it was the best holiday I’ve ever been on. Based on the other hotels we got to see in Malia, Drossia Palms was by far the best. I fully recommend it.
