It was a great holiday but don't go in June, the flies are there but by July - August they are all gone! The food is great due to it not just having pizza, but lots for the kids aswell. There are great kids clubs and even an indoor and outdoor pool. There are even activities for the oldies!

This was a holiday arranged at short notice through Archers, part of the Cosmos Group. Try a different Travel Company. Why? It's a long story, but not today.
Didn't know what to expect when we arrived at the hotel, just an idea of the hotel through its web site. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms (wife and self and daughter next door) were clean and more than adequately furnished.
A buffet style restaurant provided very good food for breakfast, lunch and especially dinner. Beer, wine, sparkling /still water and soft drinks available on tap.
The restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.
Plenty to do in this hotel although at the time of our visit it was to hot to even relax.
Plenty to do around Malcesine, ferries to other resorts on the lake for example, hire a speed boat or parascending from Monte Baldo to Malcesine, a drop of 6000 feet.
Hotel well recommended.

Arrived after a 2-hour delay for a 7-night stay in August to a wonderful resort & the brilliant Don Pedro hotel. The reception was small & the staff friendly & efficient. Our room was ideal with a small balcony overlooking the pool area & you could just see the lake between the trees.
The main pool was very cold which was unexpected as it was August, but it was clean. There was a stage/dance floor right next to the pool were the entertainment staff arranged the daily activities & kid club. There was also a children pool area further up the hill, which had a small pool with a slide (freezing cold!) a trampoline with secure netting around it & a ball pit, so plenty of fun for the little ones. There were lots of sun beds dotted around both pools & around the gardens, so you could relax in a quite area if you wanted to. The indoor pool was large but did get a little crowded sometimes.
The entertainment staff were good. The kids club was held in a large cool room & was mainly geared towards arts & crafts with a few games. One word or warning to parents with small children, the evening entertainment was held on the stage/dance floor next to the main pool (deep end), which was not sectioned off in any way. So you had to watch your child like a hawk to ensure they were not going to fall in or be accidentally pushed into the pool amongst all the dancing & games. This happened to one German boy, but fortunately he could swim!
The restaurant was excellent serving authentic Italian food. If you wanted to eat outside you had to get there early or very late. The only down side was that it did get very busy & you had to queue up to get in on some evenings. Help yourself to carafes of wine filled from large barrels, orange & water for the kids. No complaints about the food. There was also a very simple lunch served daily which consisted of a pasta dish, chips & salad & was free! Also you could help yourself to wine (from a dispensing machine), water, orange, tea & coffee all day, which was also free & a very nice touch (tip – the plastic cups are tiny, so take bigger ones if you do not want to be forever walking backwards & forwards to the kids pool for a refill.)
The evening bar service was very slow. They did not like you queuing at the bar & preferred to serve you at your table, which took forever. They also preferred you to pay cash rather than sign for your drinks, which was odd.
The hotel was up a steep hill, but the hotel offered a free mini bus, which ran regularly to the center of Malcesine & drop off & pick up was at the main bus station. Note: the bus station sells drinks & nibbles, so you can have a nice cold beer whilst waiting for your bus back to the hotel! It is also next door to a very large supermarket, which was ideal if you wanted to buy anything to take back to the hotel.
We could not really fault the hotel, all the staff were great & the facilities were good, although it could do with being refurbished, but don’t let that put you off. You could join in the fun if you wanted or relax if you did not. The only obvious problem was being in the peak holiday season, it did get busy.
Now the best bit… Having never been to the Italian lakes before, we did not know what to expect, especially with a 4 year old & being beach lovers, this was going to be a very different holiday for us. We fell in love with Lake Garda! The scenery is beautiful. Malcesine is a wonderful, bustling, cobblestone town. There are so many shops, bars, restaurants, ice-cream parlors, but not enough days in the week to sample them all. There is so much to see & do. The old castle was super, well worth seeing.
The cable car was brilliant, although we did have to queue for over an hour. A tip if you are planning to have a go, look up to the top of the mountain & if it’s misty give it a miss, but if you can see the top then start queuing. Take a picnic if you can, (super market next to the bus station for food & drink), as there is only one restaurant/bar, which was very busy. Also take a jumper or jacket, as it can be a few degrees cooler up there. Do not forget your camera as the views are spectacular, it takes your breath away & it also makes you realize just how big & vast this lake really is.
We took a boat trip to the very pretty quiet resort of Limone for the day. Wandered around the town, had lunch & chilled out on the shingle beach (tip – take beach shoes to wear on the beach & in the lake as it is hard going on the feet.)
You also have Verona for the opera & Venice is not far (lots of organized trips being offered for both, but you can make your own way by bus.)
Tip – take an umbrella as it does rain here when you least expect it!
Would we go back? Yes we are! There are so many beautiful resorts around the lake that you would be mad not to try them. So this year we are going back & staying at the Leonardo Da Vinci hotel in Limone for 11 nights, which will give us a little more time to explore this wonderful area. Watch this space for the update.

Initially we thought our hotel was a bit out of town, however we were bowled over by the quality and the services the hotel provided and the hotel’s bus left regularly enough to keep us happy.
Malcesine is situated on the Eastern bank of Lake Garda maximising the amount of sun tanning time which is restricted due to the high and very beautiful mountains surrounding the flooded valley.
It also features the area’s cable-car which we found very useful after a tough days trekking either up or on top of the mountains.
The town is beautifully authentic, with many old buildings and incredible cobbled streets. There is a wealth of discoveries to be made from back street restaurants to Malcesine Castle itself.
Local buses are regular and dependable giving access to the many other wonderful towns and theme parks on the Lake’s shores.
This holiday destination had everything for everyone. Activities for all ages and all tastes. From bicycling to paragliding, golfing to windsurfing.
In a fortnight we hadn’t a hope of doing or seeing it all, which means we’ll have to come back again, and again and God willing, again.
