A quiet, friendly and welcoming resort. Apartments quaint and kept lovely and clean with a maid that visits every day. The setting is great, the pool area is clean, well maintained and has a good bar service. The breakfast a little basic but this is the only downfall. 5... more

We booked a late deal with Thomson on a B&B package. After being bombarded with the sale of everything on the flight, we arrived on the peaceful island of Santorini. The accommodation is good. It is spotless (new soap and towels daily), pleasantly presented and cleaned to... more

Simply Excellent
We visted the Marillia village as a parents and son group. The location of Marillia Village is ideal. The beach, including the numerous shops and restaurants, is just a few minutes away by foot. However, the distance is just far enough withdrawn from the bars and clubs as to allow one to sleep at night. As for the hotel itself, our room was spotlessly clean and the buildings are very well maintained. However, the most important selling point for Marillia Village is almost certainly the staff. They are not only extremely friendly but also very helpful in performing the arrangements for any needs you may have. My father, who is a very well travelled business men, described the service as some of the best he has ever encountered. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone considering it.
Exactly as described - pity about the heatwave
We wanted a good value crash out week and this is exactly what we got. We booked on Thomson's web site and the hotel was exactly as described on their site and on Tripadvisor. Santorini is a small beautiful island and Perissa is not one of the most attractive parts of the Island but you can travel all over the island by car or public transport or organised trips quite quickly and easily. Oia and Fira are well worth a visit - particularly in the evening (wonderful restaurants with great views) and no one should miss a boat trip around the bay to see the sunsets. We were somewhat rstricted by the heatwave which hit as we arrived. Had we known it would be in the 40's we would not have gone but the airconditioning in the rooms was excellent - very effective. The heat was most unusual for this time of year Room (3) was fine. The shower was tiny and we used the bathroom as a wet room as it was impossible to avoid getting water all over the floor. We did not use the cooker (2 hob) but the fridge and kettle were put to good use. Breakfast was basic but fine and the snacks at the pool bar were good quaility and value (a little slow between 12.30pm to 2 pm because only one member of staff to take orders, serve and cook but she worked very hard and was very friendly) Good sized pool for a small place and beautiful planting all around the site. Not a great deal of shade around the pool and fixed umbrellas not very effective at providing shade. Cleaning staff were very efficient and tidy - don't leave thigs out or you will have to look in the drawers to find where they put them! Reception staff spoke good English and were very helpful and friendly Lots of good reasonable priced restaurants by beach which was only a 5 min walk to reach - took about 25min to walk the full length but worth it. To summarise - excellent accomodation. OK location. Beautiful Island. Highly recommended
Perfect choice
It proved to be the best possible choice we could have made when we decided to stary at the Marillia Village. The hotel staff made us feel very welcome from the start and the cleaning ladies were the best we have ever had keeping the rooms spotless at all times. The lovely breakfast by the pool was also not to be missed. The pool area and landscaped gardens were kept spotlessly clean and tidy at all times and we never had any trouble getting sun beds, drinks or food. My husband and I stayed at the Marillia Village with our daughter and her partner who were married during our two week stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who came to the rescue helping to decorate the car and organising the honeymoon suite as a suprise for them. This was a fabulous room which had a lovely 4 poster bed and huge bath and was decorated with candles, balloons, ribbons etc. This was the icing on the cake for the happy couple at the end of their very special day. The Marillia Village is the best we have stayed in in Greece and well worth a visit, we all hope to return soon.
beautiful accommodation
I have just returned from the marillia village and having read the other reviews expected it to be good. It did not disappoint. I stayed in a maisonette( I think the same one as the previous review) It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable and kept spotlessly clean. I have never seen such thorough cleaning even in 5 * hotels The pool area is well maintained with good new comfortable sun loungers It never got too busy and there was never a problem getting a lounger No need to get up at the crack of dawn!! The apartments are in a fairly remote location although near to the beach. There is not much in the way of shops around only 2 supermarkets, one mini market on the beach rather poorly stocked and overpriced and another one the euromarket a bit further away but much better. It is probably worth hiring a car. I visited both Thira and Oia and although undeniably very attractive and photogenic they are also extremely busy. It was nice to visit them and then return to the peace and quiet of the Marillia Village. I also did a Thomson trip Santorini impressions. I would reccomend it but a word of warning It starts at 13.30 and finishes at 9.00 at night in order to see the sunset from Oia but this means there is alot of walking including quite a steep treck to the top of Pygos village at the hottest part of the day. This was not too much of a problem to me, but elderly and people with any walking difficultys may want to consider this. To sum up I would definately recomend these apartments. Everyone I spoke to whilst I was there seemed to agree that they were faultless. Possibly there would not be enough to do if you were travelling with children or teenagers.
Marilla Village Studios
We have just returned from a week in Santorini. Marilla Village Studios in Pervilos it is a very quiet very clean small complex all rooms with air conditioning and friendly staff. BUT BEWARE we had booked with FIRST CHOICE a one bedroomed apartment (we had the option of studio or one bedroomed) but when we arrived we had one room with a galleried mezzanine above the kitchen/bathroom which had a double bed and was reached by a ladder like stair no handrails ok for adults a further two couches/single beds where in living area. It meant effectively three people sharing one room. The receptionist was very helpful but the room was what they classed as a one bedroomed an apartment with a separate bedroom meant an upgrade (which incurred an extra cost). After two nights we did move rooms but mainly because we insisted luckily as it was early in the season there was a room available. The second apartment was great definitely the best one on the complex We where a little disappointed in the meals but that might have been because Perivolos is such a small/quiet resort and some places had not opened the food in Perissa/Fera and Oia was much better. We would like to go back again if only to visit the archaeological site of Aktotiri which is closed for 2007 while further excavations are carried out. We hired a car for a day which gave us enough time to get around the island and visit the main places of interest, the road signs tend to be right on top of the turns but no problem finding somewhere to turn around and on such a small island more or less impossible to get lost. All in all a good place to visit and if it hadn't been for having to spend so much time sorting out rooms it would have had an above average rating.
Exceeded our expectations
My boyfriend and I stayed at Marillia Village for two weeks at the end of May and had an amazing time. We honestly couldn't fault it, it's not complete luxury but well worth our money and easily the best place we have stayed in Greece. Each room differs, ours was lovely with white painted hand carved furniture and a mezzanine floor with a double bed. We saw a couple of the honeymoon suites which were beautiful, one had a jacuzzi and four poster bed. The pool area was spotless with an inviting pool and comfortable sun loungers. It was still fairly quiet when we went and there were never more than a handful of people around the pool. The whole place is landscaped with beautiful flowers and is very picturesque. The staff were fantastic and the two cleaners really never stop! The hotel's website is about to be updated - a photographer was taking pictures during our stay so worth checking out soon. One tip - hire a car from Santosun through the hotel and not your tour operator, much cheaper and they even came and rescued us when we got stuck in a pothole at no extra cost!!!
A perfect place for rest and relaxation...
My husband and I have just come back from a week in a studio room at the Marillia Village and it was just what we needed. The holiday lived up to all our expectations and was the relaxing and peaceful week we had anticipated before the arrival of our baby due in a couple of months time. The staff at the hotel are outstanding - Liana and Carmella - and we cannot thank them enough for making us feel so welcome and for all their help throughout our stay. The hotel itself is very pretty in a traditional Greek style, a 2 minute walk to Perivolas beach, absolutely spotlessly clean and small enough to have a friendly and laid back atmosphere. If I had to think of one tiny fault it would be the shower, as mentioned in previous reviews, which is on the small side and lacks a sufficient curtain/screen to prevent the whole bathroom from becomming a "wet room"! The rooms are a good size, cool, have air con, a TV with local channels and BBC News 24, telephone, a safe (payable locally), a hair dryer and a kitchenette with a fridge, a 2 ring electric stove and a kettle. Nothing luxurious but all you need. Breakfast is by the pool and consists of toast, pastries, fresh fruit, cheese/ham slices, cornflakes, natural yoghurt, tea, coffee, orange juice. The kidney shaped pool is unheated so a touch on the "refreshing" side but bearable if you just go for it! It's a good size and there's also a jacuzzi pool and a kids pool as well as a pool bar. There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols available, and of course, you need to take your own towels. Perivolas Beach is black sand and there are lots of tavernas and bars all along it to Perissa. We walked the length of the beach right to the end of Perissa and it took 40 minutes. Going in May meant that some bars and restaurants weren't quite open yet and the resort seemed quite quiet still but there were obvious preparations going on to open up imminently, and still plenty of choice to eat out somewhere different every night. Our best meal was at The Best restaurant and our craziest was a Greek night at Meteora run by "princess Irene" who is bonkers! For a good lunch and evening drinks there is a lovely Cafe del Mar type bar called Chilli's but this wasn't open late while we were there. We had one night at Pyrgos Taverna for the sunset which is a 15 minute taxi ride away, up in the hills overlooking the caldera and highly recommended but watch out if ordering the catch of the day as this turned out to be a very pricey option! Would also recommend hiring a car for 25 euros a day through the hotel, and driving up to Ia as we loved this town at the very north of the island. You can drive around the entire island in a day as it's that tiny.
Good Times at Marillia Village
We have had a very good holiday at Marillia Village. The rooms are good looking, the Service is very friendly and the garden with the area around the swimmingpool is the best for soul and eyes. We will inform all of aur friends about and we will come again.
A relaxing holiday at Marillia Village
If you are wanting pleasant and clean accomodation with staff that can't do enough to help you on the wonderful Greek island of Santorini - look no further than Marillia Village... From the moment we arrived the peaceful and calm atmosphere around the hotel made us relax and after a day we felt like we had been there for a week. The accomodation is very pleasant indeed and is spotlessley clean thanks to the efforts of the very friendly cleaning lady (Thank you!). The bathroom is fairly small and does not have a bath but other than that you cannot fault the accomodation at all. The other really nice thing is that there is a small kitchen area where you can prepare sandwiches etc which is very useful. The grounds of the hotel (I believe there are around 20 rooms) are fantastic. Beautiful flowers and olive trees are everywhere and the place is exceptionally well maintained so it all looks sparkling and new! This is carried on through to the pool area which is quiet and peaceful and most definetely relaxing - perfect for reading on a sunbed! Breakfast is included in the price of the rooms and consists of the standard continental breakfast with bread, cheese ham etc etc and cereal if you prefer. The food was always very fresh and always served with a cheery smile by the hotel 'all rounder' Michael who really looked after us during our stay and everybody else and is really a very nice chap indeed! Car hire and various trip options on Santorini (volcano boat tours etc) can be booked at reception through Leanna who again similar to Michael and the cleaning ladies is lovely and really tries hard to make your stay as nice as possible. I would recommend booking both of these things through the hotel as they seemed to be significantly cheaper than booking them through Thomson (who we travelled with). I would recommend hiring a car for a couple of days to see the island properly. Fira is well worth a visit as it Oia. The main road from Fira to Oia is high up in some places with sheer drops over cliffs so maybe worth tackling it in daylight rather than at night the first time you travel it. Perivolos (where Marillia Village is located) is a wonderful place with its black sand beach and cute tavernas serving great food and very reasonable prices (e.g. Greek Salad which is huge is about £2.50). Where the Marillia Village is situated is slightly away from it all in Perissa hence why it is so quiet so if you want somewhere a bit more lively it maybe best to get somewhere actually in Perissa or possibly consider Kamari which appeared to have a lot more to do. There is a good supermarket (Euro Market) about 10 mins walk from the hotel come out of the hotel turn right onto the main road and follow main road to the left) where you can get all the bits you need. Finally Santorini as a whole is a beautiful island with very friendly people and some spectacular locations. If you decide to go I hope you have a good time and please do consider Marillia Village as it is wonderful and very good value as well.
Excellent stay at the Marillia
We enjoyed the peacefull location and the accomodation was very nice. The staff were very helpful and we were given a free half bottle of their own wine which was very nice. The walk in to Perissa for evening meals took about 35 minutes and the road was quite dark with no paths. We would definately stay again and if you are after a quiet holiday this is the one for you. The island is idyllic and the views from fira well worth seeing. The Marillia was just what we wanted and we felt very comfortable and relaxed there.
