Would stay here again!

My Girlfriend and I stayed at Pefki Islands in October of 2007 and had a great week's holiday! The hotel is a bit of a journey by coach from the main airport (we travelled with Thomson, took us 1hr +) But other than that the rest of the stay was hassle free. The rooms are basic but large, and have everything you need (Fridge, hob, toaster, utensils, kettle etc) They were kept really clean, and we had fresh towels and sheets 6 days out of 7 on our stay (aside from the sunday). The staff were all great, really friendly and enthusiastic and helped make the stay alot of fun. The resort was lovely, lots of nice places to eat and have a drink or 2, and was a bit more sophisticated than a few other greek resorts I've visited. Pefki Islands is a cracking little base for a holiday, a simple 2 minute walk to the beach and restaurants, and I'd definately stay there again!
Well above par for Greek Island accommodation!

This was our second visit to Pefkos but our first to Pefki Islands. It's a fabulous place!! From the moment we arrived until the sad moment we got back on the coach to the airport the service was excellent! There were just the two of us, in a 3 person studio (in the newer end of the property. Lots of space. Big wardrobe, plenty of hangers. 3 beds - 2 pushed together - quite rare for this area of the world! Bathroom was much better than other Greek resorts I have stayed in - the shower even had a screen!! Room was cleaned every day except Sunday - seemed like the towels were changed at least every 3 days. Sheets twice a week I think. Think rooms in the older part of the resort are smaller - so if you book, send them an email and ask for a room in the newer/quieter end of the resort. We were in block I. Hotel went the extra mile on our anniversary (which I mentioned when booking). We were out on an excursion to Symi (more on that below) all day, and when we got back there was a bottle of wine on the side with a little card and a massive fresh cream cake in the fridge! (see photo!) - How nice was that! 2 lovely swimming pools - never had a problem getting a lounger. Pool bar was lovely - can recommend the bacon rolls if you don't fancy doing breakkie in your room. Booked holiday through Thomsons - great transfer & rep. Did two excursions - first to Symi, a beautiful island and somewhere I'd like to go back to BUT the excursion simply puts you on a massive vehicle ferry - so you arrive with hundreds of others which kind of ruined it. Other excursion was excellent though - can't think what it was called but it's the late afternoon/evening trip to Rhodes Old Town. Lovely guided tour, meal and then a little boat trip around the harbour (look up at the stars!) Pefkos is a lovely resort - perhaps getting a bit too 'British' as the years pass by - but still lots of lovely places to eat. We prefered the quieter places you find when you walk up the hill from Pefki Islands and then turn right (instead of left back to the main strip). Lovely one called Nicholas'. Oh and do try Philosophia - beautiful outdoor eating just behind Pefki Islands - perfect food in a very romantic setting. Final thought - if anyone is heading out to Pefki Islands - say hello to the cats for me - particularly the little ginger and white one! He berfriended us and spent most days asleep on the lounger with me!! Happy travelling!
A last minute holiday

Any one wanting a holidayg for a sunshine break will find Pefkos perfect. The beach is narrow so its easy to step into the warm clear sea for a swim. On arrival at the Pefki Island Resort appts. we immediately had a swim in the wonderful, clean, clear water of the pool . We found during our week in September it was lovely and quiet at night, although there was some evening entertainment it was fairly low key. We went to a traditional Greek evening at the hotel which was great fun. Our two bed apartment was much larger than expected. The gardens are pretty and very well kept. We hired a car and travelled over the mountains, meeting only a couple of cars. The views were magnificent, pine trees and very green, considering the hot summers they have. We visited Lindos at 8.30am to avoid the crowds, worth seeing but found quieter beaches. We had one trip to Rhodes to see the old town, very hot and busy although, we had a good guided tour, followed by an evening cruise round the harbour. . The Pefkos resort is fine for a meal, if you don't hire a car but we found more traditional food in restaurants 15min drive away in Lardos. I definitely wished that we could have had another couple of days just relaxing on the beach.
Fantastic

Well we arrived at the resort at 2am, it was hot, blissful after the grey skies of the UK. We wandered off to try to find somewhere to buy some beers to wind down with and found Alexandria's Kebab house was open and that they stocked beer. We woke around 9 am to wall to wall blue skies, a view overlooking a very inviting swimming pool and sunbathing area. The first thing we did was to go and pay 60 euros to gain access to the air con which in that kind of heat was essential. That sorted we headed down to the beach just a short walk away to relax in the sun and swim. The man in charge of the sunbeds on the beach cheerfully found us two together, I think they were around 4 euros a day. Later we wandered up to a restaurant just off the beach and ate some delicious food, I can also recommend the Taverna Philosopher up on the cliff, a bit of a climb but worth it. In the evenings we ate at three different restaurants, The Enigma, Nostalgia Roof Garden and Lindos cuisine. The first two are a little more up market than the latter however the latter had a certain ambiance. After eating our feet found us wandering down to Alexandria's bar where the Rhia and Tassos took very good care of us. A small, relatively quiet bar with some internet facilities it suited us down to the ground. We took a taxi into Lindos and then went up to the Acropolis by donkey, a bit of a wobbly ride but prefferable to walking up in the heat of the day. The Acropolis is a wonderful piece of architecture with many different influences. The walk back down offered wonderful views over the town, where we found a nice little restaurant in the center for a spot of lunch. The taxi home was a little 'wild' but the journey there and back only cost 12 euros. We hired a car from Lindos Rent a Car in Pefkos which cost 65 euros for three days and only an extra 20 when we decided we'd like to keep it for another day. The Old Town of Rhodes is a must see, though we didn't have the time to see enough of it. We spent a little time down at Prassonisi at the southern tip of the island having a large central sand spur with the Mediterranean sea on one side and the Agean on the other, if you like wind surfing it is the place to be, beginners on the med advanced on the Agean! My favourite trip was out to Kalithea, to the 1920's Italian designed Spa recently renovated. If you have seen the film Escape to Athena, then you will have seen it as it was one of the locations. It is a beautiful piece of architecture, with soft curves and beautiful views. There is a small bar which also serves food at a very reasonable price and a lovely little bay to swim in. Pefki Island resort is fabulous, the rooms are large and clean each with a balcony, The rooms have a small modern kitchenette complete with two ring hob, kettle, toaster and all you basic cooking needs. There are two pools each with it's own bar, entertainment is laid on nightly by the top pool bar. It was a very popular resort for people with children. I look forwards to going back again! If you find the Pefki Island Resort is fully booked try Lindia Thalassa Studios which are owned by the same people and look equally as good.
hot, hot, hot ..... but fantastic
from Beatts
We stayed at the Pefki Islands in July just as it was coming to the end of a heatwave ..... 55 degrees c on arrival cooling down to a mere 40 or so by the end of the week. Our room was close to the smaller pool and had a balcony view over the hills at the back of the complex which was lovely for watching the sun setting each evening. The room was immaculately clean and the towels / bed linen were changed every day apart from Sunday. Cooking facilities were limited to two electric rings and a toaster however we only intended to eat breakfast in the room so it was more than adequate. The complex itself has two pools although we only used the smaller one near to the main bar .... there were plenty of sunbeds and the service at the bar for drinks and snacks was also very good. In fact, we can't really fault this complex at all and had a really lovely stay. Pefkos centre is a short walk away and has plenty of bars and restaraunts to suit most peoples taste and has a blissful absence of karaoke, pub quiz, kfc, macdonalds etc etc. The nicest beach we found was at Lindos, a short taxi ride away or get the glass bottom boat from the beach at Pefkos. Overall, we loved this resort and found the staff at Pefki Islands really helpful ..... I would definitely recommend it and go back again.
One to Return To

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Pefki Islands Resort in Pefkos on 27th June & can't wait to return next year. We stayed in the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom appartment which had recently been refurbished & was huge. The kitchen is basic with only 2 rings to cook on but who wants to cook more than that on holiday!! We paid the extra charge for air conditioning & the safety deposit box which was expensive (250 euros for 2 weeks) but was money well spent due to the fact it was the hottest June for 100 years. Next time I would only pay for air conditioning in 1 bedroom to reduce costs & think this would be effective enough. The maid service was brilliant & 6 days a week. The complex has 2 lovely pools & pool bars. The snack bar service was reasonable & the food was fine for a snack lunch. The kids club which was at the sister hotel, Lindia Thalassa, runs every day except wed & sat for 1 1/2 hours & was super. It's run by Helen & Johnna who were brilliant & much missed by my 2 girls. The entertainment was on the whole great (Dream Girls were dire). Pefkos itself is lovely with plenty of places to eat & drink very reasonably - The Rock Garden Cocktail Bar was a favourite with us. On the whole can't wait to return, perfect for families & the Greek people are lovely.
So clean!

Just got back from a week's stay at Pefki Islands resort. We had a two room apartment with two bathrooms and a kitchenette, which was well equipped, although we did no more than boil eggs! Everything looked new - the grouting around the tiles was spotless, fantastic, powerful showers, loads of wardrobe space with ample hangers. The towels and sheets were changed three times during our stay and the whole appartment was immaculately clean. The grounds were throroughly cleaned every morning and the staff on reception and at the bars were very helpful and friendly. The beach is a stone's throw away down some steps and Philosophia, the best restaurant in Pefkos, is around the corner so you can be as lazy as you want. This is the best accommodation we've stayed at in Pefkos and we would definitely go back
Best hotel in the resort
from Kelleth
May 2005 was our second time at the apartments and once again they were faultless. We stayed in a studio room on the top floor of the new block (we emailed the hotel beforehand to request the room we had the previous year as it was in the newly built block). The view from the balcony was great - mountain and sea views aswell as overlooking the pool. The room was very spacious, even when at full occupancy - certainly large for Greek standards and kept very clean throughout our fortnight holiday by the maids. There was a satellite tv with several decent English speaking channels, kettle, toaster, hairdryer and a 2 hob cooker. The bathroom was lovely too - even had a shower curtain, which is unheard of in Greece! As we stayed in May we didn't need to pay the extra charge for air conditioning as although the daytime was hot but with a lovely breeze, the evenings were pleasantly cool. For any problems you have, the hotel staff will bend over backwards to help - especially the receptionist Katerina. The village itself is based along a central high street with all the shops, bars and restaurants situated either along it or on the shorts roads leading off it - you could walk aroung the whole of Pefkos in and hour. We spent most of the days on the main beach which was easily accessed by steps found by walking alongside the neighbouring hotel. The beach was lovely, very long, quite narrow and was gently shelving into the sea - very safe for kids. At the end of most days aroung 5pm, the sea would become incredibly still and we'd enjoy swimming in the sea at the far lefthand side of the beach - the surface was like glass, beautiful! Nearly every lunchtime we would eat at Lee Beach found up the steps off the centre of the beach - you MUST order the chicken pitta - gorgeous - infact the whole menu was fab and very reasonable prices. In the evenings we tried out most of the restaurants, Enigma being our favourite and then moving onto one of the numerous cocktail bars which were all child friendly. Places you should visit while you are there are Rhodes Old Town, Lindo's, Epta Piges (a beautiful woodland oasis), Tsambika beach and monastery. We hired a car and travelled around the whole island during our stay. Being so near to Lindos (5E's in a taxi) you can go here as many times as you like. Visit St Pauls Bay just outside Lindos village during the day, the Acropolis (when its not too hot - make sure you take some water and don't use a donkey to get up there) and then browse the maze of shops in the evening. I can't recommend Pefkos highly enough if you want a relaxing holiday with the opportunity to visit some fantastic places whilst you are there and Pefki Islands resort is the perfect base to do so.
As good as expected

We as always checked the reviews on tripadvisor, hol truths etc and weren't dissapointed by the pefki islands, we went in october half term and had monitored the weather carefully, we were extremely lucky and had a gorgeous week of blue sky and sunshine, everyone we encountered at pefki and in pefkos were friendly and helpful despite us being the stragglers in the last week of the season. Choices from the pool snack bar became more limited as the week went on and they wound down for closing for the season but we were fine, we ate out every night and can highly recommend, terpsis, enigma, the restaurant and bar next to mingos supermarket and more also for the best sunset and gorgeous view see photo go to the philosophia which is at the back of pefki or up the steps from the beach and if you're feeling energetic walk up the hill to the delicious bakery also has a yummy restaurant upstairs with great view, we loved going to the crepe and cocktail bar on the main road for our nightly dessert and had great fun with the bar staff, my teens 15 and 17 still found plenty to do and met up with some others of the same age who have been going to pefki for 14 years. We loved being able to get a cheap kebab at alexandros on the road to the beach , the apartment was spacious and clean , beware however that the safe and air con are extra and quite dear and that the kitchenette does not have a seating or eating area so if you do eat in (we didn't) you need to eat on the patio or bring the furniture inside, the 2 bed had ttwo ensuites which was a godsend with teens. the two pools were lovely , cold though at this time of year and the beach was sandy with clear water, their are steps to the beach near the thassos supermarket onsite and although there are a few of them it wasn't a difficult journey. We plan to return in august.. ps if you are an animal lover please feed the cats but throw away any empty tins as people had left them on the floor after feeding, also their is a charity that accepts food donations in the village at the elena bar to feed the animals when the tourists leave which I was pleased to hear about.
Great Staff
from _thekellyfamily
The most valuable asset that this resort has is its staff, they were extremely friendly, helpful and made us feel comfortable and welcome, even organising a complimentary birthday cake for our son. Without the staff, I would give the resort a Neutral / average rating. The entertainment was hit and miss, as in, if there was a football match on TV, the entertainment was cancelled in lieu of the match. Overall, if the sports bar type entertainment could be left to the bars in the town instead of the resort, we would definitely go again. .
Just returned from Pefki Islands Resort on 1st Oct 2011 after two wonderful weeks. Our accomodation in F121 & F224 was excellent and always kept spotlessly clean by the tireless friendly cleaners.Days by the pool were made most enjoyable thanks to Kostas & Sylvia at the... more
