very very nice hotel, great holiday atmosphere!!

Sep 2011, visit-world :)

i thought this hotel was fab, i am 18 and i went to Lloret De Mar, Hotel Samba with my 3 friends. i thought the hotel staff were very pleasant and welcoming, and the hotel its self is very nice, the pool area is very big and spacious, the hotel has a very good atmosphere, we were on floor 5 and our balcony was facing down to the street and the hotel opposite which was bolero park, and your balcony lights go off at about 11 - 12pm and the security man stands down below, and it was funny watching him flash his torch up at balcony's if he herd to much noise, (he's not that pleasant) he makes more noise when he shouts up. some comments say that the food is very boring and average, but in fact i thought the food was excellent they had a wide variety of choice like, salads, olives, all kinds of fresh fruit and vegetable cous cous, Spanish chirizo, steak, chips, and a big selection of cakes and sweets, also they have themed meals, so one night it might be Mexican food, then Chinese food. also when the breakfast or lunch is over in the bar (only for all-inclusive) there are snacks on all day. so there you have it trust me i am a very picky person, but this hotel is absolutely great .

Hell Hole

Jun 2011, LJM

I have just returned from a 4 day self catering holiday for a hen party of 16 people. Regardless that we were a hen party we are a respectable group of adults who were treated with utter disgust. The rooms were appalling not one of our three rooms had a door that was not damaged. The rooms themselves were dirty and completely dated. The kitchen was a health hazard not to mention the bathroom ceiling that was falling in with large chunks of plaster missing which was peeling away and hanging down. The shower was held on by one screw to the wall which had to be pushed back in each time it was used. The large crack which was down the dividing wall of the room looked like major structural damage. One of the rooms had such a damaged door that it had to be pushed with great force to even get in. Upon arrival one of the toilets were not working and we had to ask for someone to fix it which was greeted with rude and moody staff as if we were somehow inconsiderate that we had just arrived and had the cheek to ask for the toilet to be fixed as it would not flush and was blocked.
On the second night we had no electric to our rooms and as it was dark we could not see. We called reception to be hung up on twice, once left on hold and ignored and for another time to be told they didn't know anything about it. After going down to reception to tell them we could not even see in our rooms to avoid walking into the awful furniture we were told that "they were busy". We were eventually given a key to another room to use after we had to suggest this ourselves and the staff were the most rude people I have EVER met and denied hanging up the phone. We went to the sixth floor room to use the bathroom and the electric also cut out there.
The security staff man was an aggressive bully and we witnessed him push a young English boy in the face un provoked.
All in all the pool itself was very nice although the gates are closed and you are kicked out at 6pm each day whilst the vast amount of German queue for feeding time at the all inclusive dining hall. It seemed that all of the other floors and reception excluding our floor which was the third were very nice.
This hotel does not cater for English and I would go as far as saying that the English were disliked by the staff.

we used this hotel at the very start of the season, 28 lads on a stag do. we were told to keep the noise down after 11pm at nite, on the morning we arrived and we did that, we were quiet and respectful to everyone there. After the first nite we didnt really use the hotel for anything bar sleeping, this was due to the staff being ignorant, unhelpful, and down rite rood to english people. The food was catered purely towards the spanish, and was like feeding time at the zoo. So a waste of money if like us you go half board. The only good thing about this hotel is its quiet after 11pm. really this hotel should not be offered to english people

What a truly mind blowingly horrendous experience!
A four day break, just the two of us to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.
It was so very awful it was funny.
We were fully inclusive....yes well, the dining room was more like feeding time at the local geriatric hospital. The food is labelled with little pictures, even then you can't tell beef from chicken. Do not eat the food, it is the most disgusting slop. All I could keep down was an omelette.
Thank heaven for the 'all you can eat' chinese over the road, we sort of moved in there!
The staff were rude, they must have some awful times with British all inclusives before as we were tra=eated like criminals, even though I refused to wear the dreaded wrist band.
Not an experience I would ever repeat or wish on anyone but perhaps my very worst enemy.

Having been to 12-14 hotels along the coast from callea to tossa this has to be the worst i have ever stayed in.only thing i rated was the cleaners as hotel was spotless and rooms cleaned every day with fresh towels.the food was ok but the the same every day, most people were putting it in micowave as lukewarm after 3 days of it i ate out rest of the week, hotel in need of updating as 80s dated, all inc drinks queue was 15-20 deep, with 2 other bar men not serving unless paying customers, very poor intertainment which was recorded music,no flashing lights,no live singers, acts.bingo every night 1 game thats it?,overall tired hotel mopping up the cheap markett for basement price hotels, better off booking h-top.

A Fine Hotel

Not sure which hotel some of these reviewers (complainers/moaners) went to, but it could NOT have been The Samba Hotel.
We were there for 10 days from 20th September 2010 and were extremely pleased with our choice.
The entire hotel was very clean, our room cleaned efficiently, fresh towels each day, fresh bedding every three days.
Free unlimited WiFi Hotspot!!
Food was very good indeed, always a good choice on the buffet, various salads, cheeses, meat dishes, chips etc, also each day a different speciality cooked in front of you. A very good choice of fresh fruit, cakes, pastries, jellies, yogurts and ice cream.
Red, white and rose wine, beer, soft drinks, sparkling water at meal times.
I would be interested to know what sort of food some of these reviewers (complainers/moaners)eat at home! Cordon Bleau perhaps or maybe Haute Cuisine!! I think not, more likely to be chip butties and sausages!!
We holiday 2/3 times a year and have visited many countries including USA, most of Europe, North and East Africa etc. We have stayed in a range of hotels from 5 star to 3 star. We have also been on four cruises, one of which was graded 6 star.
WE CAN SAY THAT THE SAMBA HOTEL HAS NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF AND HAS PLENTY TO BE PROUD OF.

yet another attempt to post a review.last one was rejected.maybe i was too graphic in my description of the foul mouthed person in the next room. walls are paper-thin. or maybe the truth was too hard to bare. anyway we arrived at reception at 10-30 am sunday 27th sept we were told to come back at one-o-clock as thats when we book you in.so went a walk a round town. back at one.booked in. went up to our room 409. we were filled with mis-giving when we noticed that some apartment doors had suffered damage at some time.went into our room and very quickly came to the conclusion that this hotel was in need of a major overall. room was dark, only two wall lights, with exposed wires, opened the curtains to let the light in. we could see into the apartments oposite and likewise. the glass in the veranda door and the panels had no safety warnings on them. hazard for the little ones.walls were dirty with mascara? stains and black marks. small desk with two old chairs in front of it and tv on it and a mirror on the wall with no light above it. wardrobe door kept jamming. bathroom door rotting away.paintwork peeling off everywhere.bedsheet had a stain on it thats how i know that the sheets were not changed all week. went down for dinner expecting a sunday roast? no chance.didnt like the look of what was on offer.not a pasta lover. had what i thought was a meat casserole. put a bit in my mouth took it out and found it to be BROWN TRIPE!!!!!!!! YES TRIPE FOR SUNDAY DINNER.nearly threw up. had some pea soup and a cob. went to have a ice-cream. no chance. dont serve it. only cakes and yoghurt. missed mondays breakfast yippee. went in early tuesday morn didnt like the look of the food. chipolata sausages in warm water.crisps.burgers.cardboard like pancakes.eggs piled up in a tray.small jacket potato's courgettes and red peppers. dinner and evening meals consisted of raw pork chops raw chicken. lasagna with raw mince-meat.burnt fish leftovers from previous meals.spam?fritters.crisps.octopus tenticles in a rice curry? prawns with black inside them.went into the bar to look at the all day snacks. no thank you.pizza. burgers.dried bread.crisps. all crawling with flies.pizza's stacked on the floor in trays. do not upset the bar staff you wont get served again. by upset i mean do not ask for two different drinks at the same time.went into the victory bar down stairs, staff ok. a group of four people (two men two women)from the same country as our foul mouthed next door apartment occupant.did nothing but f and blind all the time. at one stage they had sixteen full glasses on the table then staggered off leaving most of it. dont order it if you cant drink it. wimps. on our last night did get a decent meal roast pork cut up in front of you. stayed in the bar that night.we upset the barman he took our drinks away because he wanted to get finished.we asked him to return them which he did he then kicked over a chair and then smashed two plastic beakers inside each other on our table so hard that they nearly split.this hotel caters mainly for spanish people.entertaimaint consisted of the oddjob man and his wife.dont expect any english music unless the dj? turns up.all he did was play one record after another,in any order no rhythm no dialogue.crap. if they allow my review take a look at my photo's they say a picture speaks a thousand words.we travel abroad twice a year so i should no what im talking about.this hotel is not a 3* but a 1* and needs a major refurbishment and a new chef.i would like to say more but the review might be rejected. be warned (not suitable for people with walking difficulties) and watch the shopkeepers.check your (boxed)items.we bought a complete set of football strip. shirt shorts socks.later found the socks were missing had to buy a pair. jl (stoke)

don't be put off by some reviews about this hotel, believe me if this hotel was as bad as what some say then id tell you.my husband and i went to the, samba hotel with out 2 girls and our 9 month old son.before we went i read the reviews and i was horrified, but when we got there, what a relief.our room was plenty big enough,4 beds and a cot,it was very clean and fresh linen every day,as for the food well you get what you pay for,the snacks were the only bad thing..a corner in the bar where burgers, hot dogs and dried up pizza were there, the restaurant was very space such and the food was the same as most all inclusive.as for the hotel staff well some were more than helpful and some just didn't want to be there.the entertainment during the day for kids was OK,mine were happy with it and they can be hard to please,as for the night time, that could be improved, mind you we did have a laugh when it did start..the maintenance man was on the drums and his wife was on keyboard and that was 3-4 times a week.overall this holiday was a nice break for us all and yes i would say go,its cheap enough and a holidays what you make it.oh the beach isn't worth going to...not the best and packed !

me and my girlfriend recently returned from a weeks stay at the samba hotel and i have to admit that when i read the reviews i was in two minds wether to cancel but after a very long and tedious transfer we were quite suprised when we arrived at the hotel, it was very well kept and the staff at reception were quite civil towards us but not over- friendly, our room was immaculate and the beds were quite comfy too , maids came everyday to clean and left fresh towels daily the only niggle we had was with the food, sometimes it was hard to tell what things were and there wasnt much in the way of english food but the breakfasts were quite good and the eating area was nice n airy and clean. the pool area is very well maintained with ample supply of sun loungers and isnt opened till 10 in the morning so theres no need to rush down early and place your towels, the pool bar staff dont seem to know what smiling is but who cares anyway as long as the drinks are cold and the food is hot! hotel samba has its pluses and negatives but you get what you pay for so if u want perfection dont go there but if u want cheap n cheerful then u cant go wrong with the samba!

well where do i start???
me and a group of my friends went on a school trip here..we were so excited about it.
when we arrived the outside of the hotel looked all-right...the lobby was really neat and tidy..first impressions the hotel was lovely..untill we got into our room...
our room..well it was ratty and really outdated..lthough i have to say that it was very clean and tidy..the bathroom was tidy and when we were actually going to have a shower we were afraid to get into it incase we caught something...
The room was so cold at night and i know that we went in february but we nerly froze to death...and the balcony door..when you went out onto it you couldnt close the door behind you as there was no handle to open it...
we were on the third floor..even from walking up the stairs..the first floor looked lovely..the second was nice aswell..but when you got to the third floor..o man!!!.
enem the light fittings and the wall paper was ratty looking compared to the first two floors..
and if that wasnt bad enough the food was inedible...it was like slop...well put it this way the only thing we ate was food when we wnt into barcelona as it looked safe..so when we were back in the hotel we were starving..
i know that i have given this a bad review but all in all it was grat craic and the poll and outside was lovely..only minutes away from an arcade, bumper cars and the beach...
the hotel wasnt really that bad we just had higher expectations...
