We had a Fantastic Holiday
from ENALAHAC
Myself and my Boyfriend spent 2 weeks ( Jul/Aug ) at the Filoxenia aprtments and thoroughly enjoyed it. Apartments were very spacious , didnt use the kitchen facilities but everything seemed to be there and very clean. Towels were changed on a daily basis The pool was lovely and staff very friendly. We stayed at the apartment block which was away from the reception and bar area, we had no problem with noise however I would think rooms near the bar could get noisy on certain nights ( hotel side) ... If you dont like cats you wont be able to stay at the restaurant/ bar in the hotel as they were constantly there however we walked to the town both for lunch and dinner and there are plenty of choices there...Cab journey €5 , horse and cart €10 Beach aprox 20mins from apartments but lovely walk , spotless beach only blue flag on island , €6 for beds for day, watersports, bars etc.. Best Bars - Traffic ( Nice owners and crowd) and Red Point ( v. friendly owners and cheap drink offers , just opened this year) Best Restaurants - Pieros Mexican and Greek and Passage to India Only downfall were the flights from Cork to and from with over 3 hour delays each way. Zakynthos airport is a complete nightmare , very understaffed and food ridicioulsy price ( €8 for sm fanta and pastry)
brilliant time

4* hotel - not really!
from Littleblue100
Disappointed. The room did not have a comfortable feel. It was very basic but clean. The lighting in the room was poor. Towels were only changed on alternate days and due to the humidity did not dry out properly. We had asked for a double room but the bed was two twin beds pushed together so there was a big gap in the middle. The water temperature in the shower varied considerably. The room temperature was also not controllable and at times was too hot and other times too cold (air conditioningwas an additional charge). We were also charged 20 euros for the safety deposit box in the room which was not refundable. We were also disappointed by the breakfasts - on offer was variations of full english breakfast every morning with no choice of cereals, fruits or yoghurts. Everyone likes cooked brekkie but not every day for 7 days! the breakfasts were served from 9am so we could not have breakfast on the mornings that we had arranged day trips even though we had paid for them. On the positive side - the swimming pools and surroundings were perfect. The hotel is located outside the main town but only about a 10 minute walk away and we really enjoyed this short walk in the evenings when the temperature was beautiful. It was nice to be located outside the hustle and bustle but close enough to enjoy it. Also great location for the airport - short taxi ride. In summary - not a 4* hotel but average.
Excellent resort/hotel/weather etc

Stayed at the Filoxenia with my partner and two children aged 5 and 10. We were allocated room 202 which has a pool facing view and was excellent as it was at ground level so there were no worries about he balcony. The room was very clean and well furnished, an improvement on previous hotels i have been to in greece. The room was self catering, with microwave fridge etc. Room facilities were good. The only down side with the room was the small shower, but there was always hot water and it was not a major problem. All in all a very nice room and the cleaners attended every day and provided new towels. The pool was a nice size and was very clean, always someone checking water etc and removing leaves debri etc. Sun loungers were in abundance and no problems with towel hoggers. The poolside bar was very good and both barmen adonis and dennis were very friendly and always made you feel welcome. The supermarket opposite was partly stocked and was nicley located. Tsilivi centre was a ten minute walk and was quite a nice walk in following a days sunbathing. Or alterantivly a taxi is only 5 euros and are almost instantaneous at arriving. Places we attended for food were, popeyes sweet revenge(excellent breakfast) red lion pieros romios nemisis asian palace all of the above were excellent, pieros and romios were probably the best and were very well priced. If it is the beach you like, cosy beach bar situated next to tsilivi watersports is excellent, Spiros attends your needs all day. Food is great, especially the toasties. Will be returning to this resort in August for my wedding and will be re visiting all of these places and a lot more. Overall this resort is fantastic for families
Awful Place
from SUZIE-7
We travelled to Zakynthos for 2 weeks in august and it was the worst holiday we have ever been on.The town was very boring scattered with empty bars even tho it was peak season..Few nice restaurants cannot think of the names now..The apartments were nice and big we had a 2 bedroomed apartment and there was plenty of room for the 6 of us but during our stay we had a few visitors we wud come home in the evening and find lizards in the kitchen area which we just removed and dealt with but another night we found a mouse when we went back to the apartment..One of the people who was in our group hates them and wudnt re-enter the apartment,we spoke to reception hoping they would assist us but no i have never been greated with such iggnorance in my life.they were no way helpful and laughed it off..This is not acceptable especially when you are trying to enjoy your holiday.I was advise you to stay away from this dump..AWFUL PLACE!!!!
Enjoyable...but a few things you ought to know.....

The Filoxenia was in the last week of the season when we stayed from 19 Oct-26 Oct 06. Therefore the bar/restaurant & supermarket at the hotel was not fully stocked. This is a very well run hotel with 2 bedroom/1 bedroom apartments. The 2 bed apt that we had (room 302) was massive with 2 large bedrooms, 1 small kitchen/sitting area with TV (only English channels were BBC World & Euro News) and a bathroom. It was clean and well maintained (for Greece which I have always found to be a bit slap-dash). The maid came in daily and did everything to the room except wash the dishes! We couldn't hear the cockrel at all however, there were 2 sets of doors to the room from the patio and unless both of them were shut the noise from the bar was quite noticeable. The weather was rain/cloudy for 2 days and sunny/cloudy for the other 5. This is not the best time to visit Greece if you are looking for roasting hot sunny weather. Tsilivi (pronounced cee-la-vee) was a lovely resort but again was closing down for the season. The restaurants that we ate in (Popeye's & Athena to name a few) were great. Be warned....ordering to table in every restaurant took at least 25 minutes, though this may be due to the time of year I'm not sure. Zakynthos is a small island therefore we were only about 20 mins from airport. There are no flights after 10pm on the island so as not to disturb the turtles when they are hatching. A taxi from hotel to Tsilivi is 5E and from Filoxenia to Zakynthos town is 10E. Always agree the price before you start your journey, wether by horse & cart or car. Take a torch if you're walking from hotel as the roads are very dark. Hot water was a bit hit and miss so if you have first shower it's hot, 2nd shower is warm and 3rd shower will be cold. Nights are really quite cool at this time of year, a cardigan/coat is definitley needed. When leaving for your flight home be aware you have to queue outside the building! PS - the water in the pool was ....freezing!
Unforgetable. Brilliant. Colourful.

we have just returned from holiday in Tsilivi and thoroughly enjoyed our week there and wished we had booked a fortnight. The staff were very friendly. The daytime barman Dennis was lovely and game for a laugh, and the evening barman Antony was brilliant. The Filoxenia is a family friendly hotel and I would recommend it to anyone. It is very clean, the cleaners came in every day and the towelling was changed every two days. And for anyone who was enquiring about the cockrel he is still alive and cock-a-doodle-dooing. I must have been the only resident who enjoyed being woken by him every morning. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool and it was a task to get them out of the pool for something to eat. The hotel was situated just right for us. It was about twenty minute walk to the beach and Tsilivi town. It was a nice walk in the early evening with the sound of the crickets and the odd car going by. Our only little moan was the lack of pavement when walking into Tsiliv town for a meal, but when we ran out of pavement we just crossed the road onto the pavement on the other side of the road. Most nights we got the horse and carriage back which was ten euros but well worth it. We also took a trip out to see the ship well worth going the scenery was beautiful and the different colours of the sea was breathtaking. For anyone considering The Filoxenia we say "go for it". you really won't regret it.

Just returned from a two week holiday in Zakynthos, staying at the Filoxenia appartments. The two bed appartment we had was basic but clean. For two adults and three children it was a bit cramped. The bibbest problem was the noise from the bar until the early hours every night. We spoke to both the hotel and the rep about our problem of lack of sleep due to the noise but our problem was not resolved. The staff were friendly and helpfuland the pools were great for the kids.I would certainly return to Zakynthos again but would steer clear of the Filoxenia appartments. The restaurants in Tsilivi were greatand we enjoyed meals out each night. Favourites were Athena and the Olive garden
Loved the Filoxenia

This Hotel is the perfect spot to go on a Family Holiday. Less than a ten minute stroll to the resort centre. The rooms are kept spotless and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The owner, Dimitri, Is young and has a relaxed and friendly way about him. He is very approachable. There is not much entertainment on site but it is lovely to come back to the pool bar after dining in Tsilivi and maybe doing a little shopping. I would definitely return to the Filoxenia for a quiet relaxing holiday. Do not consider thi area if you are looking for a rave of a time.
