We were told this was a four star hotel and in our opinion they earned every single star.
The Hotel is almost at the top of a steep winding road, as I have a breathing problem, this concerned me, but later we walked down the hill into Sorrento and walked back again and it wasn't as bad as I first thought and was a very pleasant walk which took about 15 minutes.
As we booked a room with a view, our room was almost at the top of the hotel, which took two lifts to get there. On reaching our room the balcony doors were opened for us and sure enough there was a view to die for. It was amazing! There were 2 sun beds on the balcony with a table and chairs as well.
The room was spacious, air conditioned and very clean but no coffee or tea making facilities.
The swimming pool was a good size with plenty of sun beds. The umbrellas were only down one side of the pool so as not to block the view but I feel they could have done with a few more. There was also an eating area near the pool so you didn't have to venture far for a snack etc.
The views from the terraces were to die for, with plenty of areas to sit and relax.
For the more energetic there was a disco.
There was a good choice on the menus, both for breakfast and for the evening meal and a real treat was when we were serenaded at our table one evening. For us the views made this hotel.
It was a very enjoyable experience all round and I can highly recommend it.

We got an excellent deal so it was good value however the food - especially evening meal was terrible so we would always swap for lunch which was freshly cooked rather than mass cooked canteen style catering. NOT 5 star as advertised by Thomson’s.
Pool lovely and some nice patios. Children’s play area not worth talking about. Staff OTT quite false in friendliness. Food for Italy dreadful. Room nice - but some awful at back with view of cliffs. Bar expensive but worth it for the outside views.

Husband and I spent two weeks at this lovely hotel and really enjoyed our holiday. We booked a sea view with balcony which was on the 4th floor overlooking Marina Grande, the Bay of Naples and out to Mt Vesuvius. The room was a good size with large bathroom with bath and shower over the bath. Towels changed daily and bed every other day. So we were very happy with our room.
The swimming pool, sun beds and relaxing areas are on the 7th/8th floor and really lovely. There is also a restaurant on this floor serving a good selection and variety of food at lunchtime. Breakfast is buffet style and has a good selection. You can also order eggs, boiled, poached scrambled etc. all freshly cooked.
Dinner in the evening is Waiter serviced and there if a reasonable variety to choose from. My husband loves fish so he was quite happy with the fish dishes. There was also at least one meat dish every evening, e.g. duck, turkey beef, veal, etc. They also had a vegetarian and a Neapolitan dish and loads of pasta. We did hear people complaining about the lack of choices available but this hotel are catering for all nationalities and we had no complaints. Possibly main course dishes are not as large as you would serve at home but the first course is the same size and there is a salad bar. Waiters are happy to supply additional rolls, butter or potatoes if requested. Waiters are very kind and helpful and will go out of their way to make sure your happy. Head waiter is lovely.
We had no complaints about the meals but you can also swap dinner for lunch which we did a couple of times and went into Sorrento for dinner. Lots of lovely restaurants for food and prices are very reasonable if you shop about. We had fab pizzas in La Lanterna in the historical centre (the drains) which was lovely and very reasonably priced.
There is a little mini market about fifty yards down and across the road which sells water, wines, soft drinks, etc etc. Chilled spumante is 2.5 euros per bottle. Mini bar prices are quite expensive. 3 euros for a small water. 1 euro for litre and half in this little shop.
We went on several excursions, Pompeii, Amalfi Drive and Capri which were all wonderful. We also did the walkabout on the Sunday with the Thompsons rep which was really good and we found loads of places we probably wouldn't have found on our own.
All in all we had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed staying at the Bristol. If/When we ever go back to Sorrento we would probably stay here again.
Only down side is the very busy road and only one small narrow pavement. Trying to cross was a nightmare. Thomsons rep advised just stepping onto the crossing and the cars would stop, if not you could stand there all day but we didn't take this chance and just stood till there was a gap in the traffic. However once we closed our balcony doors we didn't hear the traffic noise at all.
