The hotel was not up to 4star. Food was recycled daily. Nothing to do between trips and you would risk life and limb to walk into Sorrento. The staff were rude and bar prices the worst in Sorrento.
I would not recommend or ever use this place again.

We've just returned from a weeks all-inclusive. I think some of these reviews are very harsh. The room was spacious, clean and in good order. The food was pleasant enough (but I'm not a foodie nor a fusspot). The restaurant manner was very nice to us and other staff were... more

My wife and I stayed at the Atlantic palace for 1 week 4/10/10 to 11/10/10. We both found the hotel totally to our needs and the food and service superb. The view of Vesuvius from our room across the bay was very good indeed. Only complaint would be the coffee at breakfast.... more

Stayed at this hotel mid September 2008. Generally comfortable, room a decent size, air conditioning in bedroom and public rooms very useful. Was given a room in the annexe, which we would not normally want, but it did mean it was quiet. We had a good view of Vesuvius... more

Spent 8 days at this hotel, staff were fantastic, food was excellent and varied, views from my room were to die for, only complaint i can think of is you have to pay for a drink of water.
Hope the restaurant manager looks after my Newcastle hat.

This will be the first time I have ever posted on a feedback page but I felt that I had to warn other travellers to avoid this hotel, or at least have a full understanding of what they are letting themselves in for (I wish I have read through the reviews before I booked!!)... more

The hotel was nice and clean, staff friendly and helpful. It is approx 15-20 mins walk into the Centre and is on a slight hill. The walk into centre is a bit hazardous as there is a part of the journey that has no pavements and the drivers there are mental! Not a place for... more

There are pros and cons to the location about two kilometres out of the town. On the one hand, it feels fresher than the town centre, whilst on the other; there is no access by foot to bars etc. The road remains highly dangerous for pedestrians and it is essential to use... more

Situated on the main road into town, which is narrow, dangerous and entirely lacking pavements, the location was less than ideal. As a single traveler, I was allocated a room little larger than a cupboard in the new wing (i.e. bunker) with a fabulous view of the back of the... more

The hotel staff are very friendly, the food in the restaurant is good, not great but variety was good. The pool was clean and most days you could get a sun lounger no probs. The pavementless road into town is a bit iffy to say the least, but the free shuttle bus and the... more

Oh Stop Moaning, it's perfectly nice
Just got back from the AP and it was a nice hotel. It's not top notch but then the price reflects that. If you go to a hotel that's 4* but charges B&B prices then you ain't going to get the Ritz. Yes, it is noisy, but Italy IS noisy. It's ALL noisy. Where else can you get people overtaking on bends, undertaking on bends, beeping their horns for no apparent reason, no road rage, no seatbelts (!), an entire family on a scooter! Fantastic fun to watch. Yes, the road down to Sorrento doesn't have a pavement, but Italy doesn't have pavements. At least, not out of the towns. The shuttle bus is frequent, free and yes, you do have to book but it's not proper booking it's more like 'I'm getting on the bus is that OK?' - 'Yes, sure no problem'. The 'Linea A' bus stop is right outside as well, goes every 20 mins and is cheap (1 Euro). The views are stunning, Vesuvius on the left, the whole of Naples Bay in the middle and Sorrento on the right. The rooms are big, nicely decorated, great showers and comfy beds. The patio doors block out the noise at night and it has to be said, you could stop in the middle of Sorrento, for a great deal more, with no pool, no view and an awful lot more noise. The pool is average but take a look at the pools of the hotels if you walk down into the town - for this part of the world it's almost Olympic size. The food's OK (great croissants and jam). I would recommend you go room only as you get the breakfast complimentary anyway and it's much better to go to Sorrento at night and eat there - loads of choice and atmos - go to the Guardino restaurant down the Via Capo as you are going to the main Piazza on the left - excellent food and service (Ravioli truly spectacular). Also, if you turn left up the hill from the hotel there is a great mini market about 200 yards away which does great sandwiches and the road off it leads you to a ruined Roman Villa on the rocks with a view of Capri and Vesuvius - if you were in the centre of Sorrento you'd never get to see this and it's well worth it. The staff at the hotel are lovely by the way - especially the waiters. The only thing I would say in a majorly negative way is that there is a truly awful bar there - it's like you've gone to some sort of bizarre parallel universe of lounge singers and hotel guests that have been there for decades - it reminded me of the scene in The Shining when Jack Nicholson goes for a drink in the bar and he's gone back in time. Oh, and the local liqueur - Limoncella - for all the English who are reading this - just imagine an alcoholic Lemsip. Not good. All in all, take a chill pill and soak up the atmos, you'll enjoy it, honest!
Avoid it like the plague
Black mould on bathroom ceiling (water poured through during rain storm), green algae line around pool, broken sun loungers, food ground into carpets on stairs and hallways, dirty sofas and chairs in bar area, food boring and mediocre. This is definitely not a four star. I have stayed in better 3 stars hotels in Sorrento that were ten times more comfortable. Very, very dispointing for such a lovely area of Italy. Oh, and to the lady who left her nightie behind - I found it in my bed on the first night - hope she got it back!
Avoid the taxis!
We hadn't booked a package holiday so the first word of advice is to take the train from the airport to Sorrento. You can get a bus to the train station from the front of the hotel. Sorrento is the last stop on the train-line and takes an hour or so for only a couple of euros. A taxi from the airport will cost you over £100. Our main gripe about the hotel was the fact that the surrounding roads were not lit and did not have pavements which made for a treacherous walk home if you weren't lucky enough to catch the courtesy / local bus. I found the walk too risky as I was convinced we'd get run over (drivers are a bit ropey to say the least) so we got a taxi every night. Based on recollection these cost £12 a go so not a cheap option as its a fairly short ride! Other than that the hotel is ok - not plush in the extreme but clean. Pool is small and the beds are rammed in so don't expect much privacy. If you intend to be hotel-based for the duration then consider looking elsewhere. If you're using it as a base for sight-seeing then it's fine.
Definately not 4 Star - maybe a basic 3 Diamond
If you are expecting a little 4 star pampering - this hotel isn't for you. As images show, Reception, Dinning Room and Bar area - all very attractive but that's where it ends. The rooms themselves are very basic indeed and the housekeeping leaves alot to be desired - very poor. Pool area is very tiny and in the back yard of hotel - more than 3 or 4 adults and it's crowded - any children become your children - you can hear every word and cry. Rooms on the front get the traffic noise - rooms at the back get abit of greenery hanging over the back wall (but you do get birdsong in the morning which was nice). The hotel is situated a good 30 minutes uphill walk from the town - the first 400 metres down the narrow and busy road have no pavement (although it is quite well lit) - take a torch! The hotel provides a courtesy bus (you must book or can't board) - times and frequency dictated by hotel management - at season end the bus timetable can be altered to make it.. ..shall we say 'difficult' to use - although management did listen to my complaint regarding this and change the timetable. Breakfast was the same every day - boring and tasteless I'm afraid. We thought the evening meal was expensive so didn't try it. Be warned - driving in Italy is not for the inexperienced or faint hearted - we counted that on average 7 out of 10 cars are damaged - road sides are littered with hundreds of signs - not many of them road signs and many of those bent and damaged! Zebra crossings are merely road decoration and mean nothing so be aware! The hotel was difficult to find because the name wasn't clearly visible from the road. The staff were on the whole friendly and helpful and that was very welcome during our stay 4 -13.October 04 - but wouldn't go again. We also didn't find this site until after we booked - unfortunate.
HURRAY!!!!!!!! THE ATLANTIC PALACE!!!!!!!!!!!
The Atlantic Palace was the best hotel ever ever in the history of forever. From the outside it was beautiful and inside it was even more beautiful! The waiters were brill and were totally dedicated to their jobs. The bar staff were equally as impressive. The older barman that other people found to be moody had an excellent sense of humour once you get to know him. The food was excellent with more food than we could eat. We would definatley recommend this hotel as it it was enjoyable all round! We will definatly be coming back for more sorrento mayhem at the ATLANTIC PALACE!!!!!! ps wednsday nights is the Gala Dinner with Salvatore stumming your evening to a perfect end! thank you everyone who made our holiday complete! x x x x x see you soon x x x x x x
quite good,3.5 stars
came back from atlantic palace after spending from the 10th to the 20th of september.I was a bit put out after reading some of the reviews about this hotel, especially as we had already booked. When we arrived the road outside was quite busy very busy but you do get used to this. The reception, the lounge and especially the dining room were all very good.We did not have to share a table at mealtimes as the brochure suggested.the head waiter and all the staff were really very good.all very nice and friendlyand attentive.I dont think the bedroom came quite up to the 4star mark going by othe countries.By the way this is our first time in italy.Nothing otherwise wrong with the room.In our case the beds were nice and clean everyday the floors and bathroom was cleaned. The balcony was never done. The cleaning staff did stand around the lifts talking and smoking like someone else mentioned .As we were on the first floor they did our rooms first and maybe never got around to some of the others. The rep Patrizia was very nice although there was a hick up on our first day meeting when we were to have a walk about around Sorrento.Very bad.A few of us left in limbo land.Courtesy bus only until 10.30 in the morning .Then mid afternoon, last one 11pm from Sorrento.Local bus goes every 20 mins just outside hotel.Hotel just needs that OO factor
never again
stayed for 7 nights in september and was not at all impressed. The first thing I noticed on entering was the stained and worn carpet on the main staircase, not good! and it didn't get any better. The hotel is jaded and tired, badly in need of a facelift. Food was barely edible, location ia awful,(prepare to take your life in your hands if you attempt the road to Sorrento at night), the free bus is a joke! it leaves the hotel at 9pm returning at 11pm and you have to book it! also a tip is obligitory. Definately not 4 star.
Wonderful! Stop moaning!
My partner and I went to the hotel for a week on the 17th sept, and I was a bit worried as I had read some poor reviews the week before. Neednt have worried though! The rooms were spacious and cleaned regularly and the food was good and plentiful. I particulaly liked the salad buffet, and one night just had that as a main course as I enjoyed it so much. All of the waiters were professional and friendly. They were unobtrusive if you wanted them to be, but were always ready to chat if you wanted a bit of entertainment! The only thing I would say is that the bar lacked atmosphere after dinner. The drinks were very expensive ( 10 euros for a vodka and orange and a beer) and the entertainment boring, so most people caught the bus into sorrento, which was a shame. Roads around the hotel are treacherous, but then they are all over sorrento. We walked it several times and came to no harm. Also transport is provided if you need it. We both love sorrento and its surroundings, and had a wonderful holiday. Both agree that we would go back to the Atlantic. Cheers!
Beautiful location
This is definitely a four star hotel for Italy. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Bar area is extremely elegant. Very near to bus stop and courtesy bus provided into Sorrento, although you can walk.
Dont believe it all........
Dont believe all the moaners... If I had it would have put me off completely... I have just returned yesterday, and I have to say it was a lovely hotel. The staff cant do enough for you and the food was lovely. Our room was cleaned on a daily basis, as for the pool having bugs in it, as someone complained, its outside, so that cant really be helped can it??!! Come on. I did see a guy cleaning it every morning though. The courtesy bus is great for getting you into town and back and theres a bus stop right outside too so I dont see a problem there either. As for the pool bar not being open all the time, that because he's also running the snack bar at the back of the hotel for 2 hours at lunchtime and a 2 min walk there would get you served in no time. Dont be put off by others, we stayed had a brilliant time.
