Well you get what you pay for! Having just returned from this hotel after a two week AI stay that to be honest we got very cheap thought I would write a review. 5 star it is not nearer 3. The building is in need of a lick of paint and a bit of polyfiller to be honest, but... more

the Capsis Hotel - Great Hotel
Great hotel , expensive drinks, what do you expect though from a 5* business hotel, so do drink elsewhere. Road opposite was busy although you can find the underpass to the beach. Annoying towels on sunbeds although you do get that everywhere really although one hotel had a sign that towels will be removed - capsis follow suit !!! staff always on hand if you have problems Terrible start to our holiday 14 hour delay (anyone suffered the same the same date get in touch as im having problems claiming !!!) with thomson so it was nice to get there and find we had an upgrade to our room - its worth asking as we had a club room sea facing. Just dont start hammering the mini bar like we did !!! Indoor pool wasnt open when were they as some days weather wasnt that great, and gym is nothing special really. Definately go back there, and stay there instead of the hilton anyday.
Not good at all!
Not at all a 5star Hotel! I think more like a light 3 star... When you go "all inclusive" you whill be condemed to bad food, bad drinks and a mayor discrimantion compared to the normal guests. I guess this Hotel is good for buissenes guests , but for the leassure guests is a total disastor! The soft drinks are a cheap fake of the real Coca Cola drinks and you whill not be served is the classy bars, only in bars that are mainly for All Inclusice where you whill get crap compared to the normal guests. The food is every day the same stuff...the only meal that is good is the breakfast. As an all Inclusive you whill get no beach towels or a bathrobe, the normal guest do get it.(you can get them at a price) When you arrive late at night you wont be able to eat anything and there whill be no snack in your room. All pictures of the pool and the rooms are taken whit a Wide angle lens and sow they look bigger than in real life the bad things start when you check in, for exampel you have to carry your own suiscasses to your room. And when you leave there is no thank you or have a nice trip... this hotel could be good, but not as an All inclusice leasure hotel! and also not an 5star prestige hotel. Greets from Belgium
Absolutely BAD!
Let's start with the very few positive stuff: pool and and public areas are nice and the location is good (if you like to visit the most touristic places-not my favorite though...). Now the negative side: Everything is absolutely terribly expensive. Hotel staff (especially at the reception) are quite old and very impolite, as if they are not there to work, but to have vacation! Breakfast and food, in general, is below the standards for a 5-star hotel. It reminded me of 3-star pensions in the 1980s!!! If you have to go in Capsis, go only for the conference areas. I wouldn't go back there even if they paid my accomodation! And believe me it's a VERY expensive place to stay... with no reason at all. A disgrace for Greek tourism (try the Miramare Wonderland hotel, it's a truly 5-star!)
Watch out at convention times!!
A little late with this review but I thought it worth doing for future fellow travellers. Overall a nice hotel in a good position with all the rooms facing the sea ( clever triangular design) Located in Ixia at a fairly busy road junction ( red light seems to mean go for greek drivers so beware when crossing) close to many bars and tavernas( recommend Coconut restaurant ask for Christos) and a fabulous Italian restaurant opposite the Avra Beach Hotel at the other end. Rooms are basic (greek style) but clean and comfortable, massive pool with a lagoon type area where you can swim or walk through trying to avoid the water cannons and slide down a waterfall into the main pool, lovely landscaped gardens leading to another pool area ( also had indoor pool which was closed during our visit) Restaurant was nice with wide selection of hot food, fresh omelets in the morning for breakfast. Only downside is that this hotel is also the convention centre, staff attitudes change towards package holiday makers when it is being used ( being no1 becomes no2) The happy Hour at the bars ( 1/2 price ) also disappeared when the delegates appeared making the drinks horrendously expensive ( but the main bar is a nice open marble clad area in keeping with the drinks prices) If you don't want to pay the prices, no problem just take a 5 min walk to the 1st taverna . Plenty of car parking if you hire ( right outside reception if your lucky!!) Beach is pebble shingle and very windy ( great for windsurfing!) Spent a week there no problems.
Excellent
This was our first trip to Rhodes, it will not be our last. The Capsis hotel is probably one of the best we have stayed in. All the staff spoke English and went out of their way to help us. This was truely a top class hotel. The bar was expensive but the choice was ours whether or not we wanted to use it. The were many tavernas close by. The bar prices obviously reflected the clientel who use this hotel. The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. the mini bar was well stocked and reasonably prices. All the staff were courtious, it did not matter if you were a millionaire or someone who just booked for a week as part of a package holiday, everyone was treated in the same way. The food was second to none. The resteraunt staff were very professional. The hotel made our first visit to Greece a very memourable one. I strongly recommend a stay here. Thanks to all the staff.
Average OK
We spent 3 night in the Capsis hotel on the Island of Rhodes in Greece in March 2005. We were the first tourists of the season and it was obvious that the season had not yet started: all the shops and restaurants around the hotel were closed. The rooms were of average size. Breakfasts and dinners were OK but nothing extraordinary. Since we had paid a relatively low price for a package deal, we found everything satisfactory. Anyone who pays the rates posted on the door in the room would have plenty to complain about since this is not a luxury hotel. The staff is OK but then again nothing is extraordinary- it is just nice. The hotel is some 3-4 kilometers outside of the town of Rhodes and the hotel does not have a shuttle. It took us 40 minutes by foot (this was not during the hot season) and some 10 minutes by taxi (6 Euro)
A comfortable hotel, but drinks very expensive
A clean comfortable hotel, rubbish balcony, too small and couldnt see over it when sitting down. Lovely pools, and nice gardens, food good, plenty of choice, staff ok. Drinks very very expensive. Beach over road, horrible, rough sea and lots of stones. Rhodes town is great but getting there was a nightmare, buses ran whenever, very overcrowded and dangerous. taxis expensive, too far to walk.
Sofitel Prices, 3* bedrooms
It's a Sofitel.... But not as we know it! If you are looking for a well-appointed hotel with decent facilities, friendly & professional staff and food of around average standard, then why not stay at the Sofitel Capsis. This hotel has highly impressive public areas and is a short bus ride from Rhodes Town. If you have stayed at Sofitel's in the past and you are assuming that the name will guarantee you excellent accommodation with quality furnishings all maintained to the highest standards...... think again! The bedrooms are simply not 5-star, not sofitel's usual level and not lovingly looked after. Our Bedroom was not hoovered and had dirty glasses when we arrived, althugh the Reception Director sorted both of these problems out quickly. Despite entertainment from the 'Animation Team' being advertised, this is all but non-existent. A young team of Italians trying hard, but with very limited experience. The restaurant offers buffet service, it's 'ok' food in pleasant surroundings but nothing special. This hotel is infamous for having expensive bars, and after paying 9 EURO's (£6.50) for two coffees, I have no choice but to agree. All in all, Sofitel Capsis is a nice hotel, but do not be fooled into thinking that as it is relatively expensive to stay here, and very expensive to drink here that you are getting the best hotel around. Money needs to be spent here to bring it back to it's former splendour!
cold shower
The rooms and public areas are very clean. The pool area is attractive and well set. Bar drinks are very very expensive. The older reception staff are abrupt to the point of rudeness. They are very unhelpful. The water situation is sad. I was there 14 nights and there was only two nights when I could have a "warm" shower. The notice in reponse to cpmplaints said it was a regional problem - strange that as hotels acrross the road were notfected- I checked ! They take in other hotels overbookings and I suspect this is a pre conceived financial arrangement which has a detrimental impact in the hotel. The restuarant can't cope with the numbers the hotel can hold. The food is "fair" only for this standard of hotel. It more like a school canteen with long waiting times at the restaurant doors. If you have to go here avoid interior rooms on the first floor -My documentation clearly said 14 nights - leave the room day of departure by noon -fair enough- my flight was 0700 hours -they insisted I leave the room noon the pervious day.Would I go back - oh no and thats a definite. Why ? a distincy lack of common courtesy from reception staff who are perhaps past ther best. Canteen style restaurant, cold water and very expensive drinks.
Don't go there
The hotel is just terrible - no hot water in the afternoon. The rooms are not cleaned properly. The food is not tasty and sometimes even not fresh.I was stuck in my room for 45 mins because of a broken lock till someone came to open the door for me.
