Just arrived home from holiday at this hotel and had a wonderful time. The accomodation was spotless, very comfortable, and the food first class.
They have an adults only part in the restaurant which is overlooking the sea, and the staff are very helpful.
Will definately return, and would recommend to anyone.
Fantastic time.

Accomodation; Good, cleaners worked very hard, cleaned every day. Some rooms need upgrading though. Facilities; Ok, but seem a little under utilized and forgotten by entertainment staff, however in their defense the football became a huge focus. Food/Bar; Excellent to... more

A lovely family hotel, good food, great staff and rooms spotless, cleaned every day but spoilt by the lack of sun beds around the pool - quite a remote location so not like you can hit the beach or anything - and by 8.00 all sun beds bagged with a towel. A row over the beds... more

WOW what a great hotel. We are in our 60s but young at heart. The food was a bit overcooked at times but there is plenty of it. The rooms are basic but clean and tidy attended by exellent happy staff. The pool is cleaned every-day and although the water is cold it is great... more

Honest Review
The transfer from the airport is only 15 minutes which is very good when you have children. On arrival check in was very modern and no were experienced. Although the rooms are very basic, they are clean and cleaned daily. The rooms qlso have a TV which has BBC , Sky News and CBeebies for the kids .... Food was excellent and had a wide range of foods including a good selection of children's meals. On a few occasions they had 'Special' nights which was good. (only complaint about the restaurant was the queue which sometimes could be big, 10 people deep) Pool area was clean and tidy although the water was 'freezing' , glass was not allowed by the pool side which was good noting kids running around. A life guard was on duty all day which also gave you comfort. Between 5 - 6 you could only get Tea & Coffee which I thought was poor noting kids were unable to get drinks. Alcohol was very watered down and shorts where Spanish. After 11.00 pm a separate bar opened where you could purchase more reputable shorts @ 4.5 Euros a drink. Hotel itself is in the middle of nowhere ...Literally ....Although the free mini bus to Punta Prima is a good idea you were very limited to what you could do outside the complex. Kids entertainment was varied and good. In a nutshell, If you are looking for a relaxing week, (A Week if enough) good weather , good food and good kids entertainment then I would definitely recommend the Sur Menorca.
Our Holiday Sept 2005
We holidayed hear Sept 2005, last minute deal. Great value for money, all inclusive food lovely and plenty of it, different varieties each day. A lot of people complained that the acholic drinks where watered down, but you could drink as much as you wanted so who cares. I was not fussed with Punta Prima, but we hired a car and explored some of the island anyway. My only bug bear is with the island beaches, they charge 15e for 2 beds and umberella on the beaches, and it's on 7e in Greece. So be prepared take those rattan mats and you own umberella. Hope this helpful.
best run hotel
We(my wife and I, my son 18, and daughter 15)stayed here for a week - very quiet locality with a lovely pub just up the road and Punta Prima some 20 mins walk away. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained and superbly run by a very attentive manager. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Food was excellent. We would go again but the evening entertainment is mainly geared to the children but if you're hoping for a very nice hotel you won't be disappointed.
Didn't live up to expectations
Holiday Opinion: Having been on a range of holidays from a £9.50 Sun newspaper deal to a 5* hotel in the Caribbean, I felt that the Sur Menorca didn’t live up to it’s reputation. Resort Punta Prima is a lovely, quiet resort just a few minutes away on the courtesy bus or if you’re feeling energetic, a 10-15 minute walk. There are 4 or 5 restaurants and a few small shops and supermarkets. The beach is great – for the first few days the water was crystal clear and the beach was spotless but unfortunately we had a storm around the middle of the week that washed up masses of seaweed. There are plenty of sunbeds available for hire at a few euros per day. Hotel The hotel is an ugly and imposing building which looks as though it could do with a lick of paint from the outside and sticks out hugely in comparison to the flat countryside all around it. The reception, indoor bar (which you have to pay for drinks at) and TV room were all attractively furnished and clean. The outdoor bar wasn’t bad but could get a bit dirty especially during the day when there are less staff around. The queuing at night began to get a bit tedious after a while – you could easily wait 15 to 20 minutes at the busiest times. The pool was extremely cramped and busy. There were not enough sunbeds or enough room to add any more. They were all reserved by 8am and they were literally crammed round the pool. Even though the school holidays had finished, there were still loads of kids running around with no signs of their parents. The rooms have barely any soundproofing and you could hear them screaming and running up and down the corridors until 1:30-2:00am in the morning when someone would eventually complain and one of the staff would arrive. We were also unfortunate enough to have an interconnecting room with a wafer thin door so we could hear absolutely every sound from our neighbours including their baby screaming at all times of the night. The air-conditioning made a loud buzzing noise every time it was turned up past the lowest setting and the shower was tiny. Apart from that, the rest of the room was quite nice and cleaned regularly. Staff The staff were pleasant and hard working but there just wasn’t enough of them to cope with the amount of guests. Food & Drink In my opinion, the food was one of the hotels good points. Although fairly basic and limited, it was good quality. The restaurant was very clean and the trays of food were always replenished as soon as they were almost empty. The hotel could do with another toaster at breakfast – with just one, it could sometimes take ages just to get two rounds of toast. The snacks were ok. They changed each day but usually consisted of cheese and ham toasties, burgers or hotdogs. The drinks were good with generous measures for the spirits. They were served in small plastic glasses in the day but proper glass ones in the evening. Entertainment I can’t really comment on the entertainment as we could never get a seat outside to enable us to watch it! Weather & Environment The weather was great all week. We had one or two downpours but the sun was usually back out again withing an hour. Overall Unfortunately, the Sur Menorca ranks as my worst holiday to date.
Newly Refurbished
Just got back on Friday from a wonderful week in the sun with my husband. We were lucky as it only rained heavily on the day we left - otherwise glorious weather. We had to wait for our room on arrival at 10.00am as the transfer from the hotel was only about 15mins but it was comfy waiting. The hotel has recently undergone a refurb and it looks amazing - very modern and very clean (I was impressed). The rooms are compact (so if you're a family of 4 you might find yourselves on top of each other as the bathroom is just enough for 1). There are apartments there though that are larger. In the room they provide clean towels EVERY day (you cannot take them to the pool though) Ladies take a hair drier with you. Rooms also have a small safe and large wardrobe. If you like evening entertainment ask for rooms overlooking the pool- you can then sit and watch from your balcony although it will be loud - you cannot take drink or food up to your rooms though - so a long walk to the bar if you choose this option. We requested a quieter room overlooking front of hotel as it gets the sun on the balcony in the morning. You get BBC1 and BBC2 and Sky Sports so it accomodated my husband's and my tastes of an evening watching England V Poland and the latest BBC dramas. They also have a plasma screen downstairs that has the same channels and when we left they kindly hooked up a DVD player and we watched some films until the coach arrived as we had no access to our rooms after 12pm. Thing you'll notice is the TV looses connection to BBC every 14mins or so - so when Beckham was sent off in teh England match, we didn't know why as the TV flicked off for 10seconds!! Plenty of comfy sofa's too - home from home. The animation crew were really good - I loved watching the enthusiasm of the team - they were entertaining in themselves. They have bingo every night - which is fun listening to the Belgium lass on the animation crew state "Nos 62, Clickity Quack" which had me in stitches for ages! and Bob state "nos 8, Blobby". Food was fine - nothing to write home about but always plenty of it. They have a special night once a week whereby they provided champagne one week and the other cheeses -so a nice break. The hotel was not expecting such a large influx of people -I think Thomas Cook and Thomson's were doing soem blinding deals as the hotel was full every night and only two weeks to end of season. They had laid off a lot of their summer staff due to end of season and then coachloads turned up - but the staff were brilliant. They worked 24/7 with a smile and were fast and efficient. 10/10 for them - plates were cleared promptly and you were seated quickly. As there were few staff you had to queue for your drinks at the bar that only had two people serving but they were as quick as they could be. We hired a car and covered the island quickly in a day (44kms long, 14kms wide so cannot get lost!!) but we had the car for 3 days and casually beach hopped around - Cala n Bosch is lovely, check out the Caves of Xonir (sp) nr Cala n Porter (a disco in the evening, but spectacular spot in the caves for a view over the sea with a coffee in hand during the day). Son Thomas beach (with it's nudist stretch!!!) is nice if you keep left, go right and you don't need a bathing costume! North part of island tended to be cloudier. Not much for young couples - but we enjoyed it as long as you have a car. Ywo weeks would be too long for us unless you are a beach babe and the weather is fine as nothing to do in the evening if you want to go out of the hotel. All in all - a good package deal. Excellent for children or for a week break in the sun to get away from it all. Well done Sur Menorca.
excellent!!!
Have just returned from Hotel Sur menorca and it was brilliant! We travelled as a couple with our 8 year old son and he had a 'whale of a time' being kept busy with the animation programme. Hotel really clean and staff are excellent, really helpful and efficient and that includes the courtesy bus driver to Punta Prima! Our son loved Bob from the animation team who was so patient with the kids and always made sure everyone including adults were enjoying themselves. Wouldn't recommend the hotel for younger couples looking for nightlife as resort is quiet and relaxing but spot on for families and older couples who don't mind mini disco etc. Food was freshly cooked and there was a good variety in fact I have never known our son eat so much on holiday he is normally a very fussy eater abroad! We will definately return to this hotel next year without a doubt. Thomson rep Vicki really helpful and waved us off on the coach on our return - 10 out of 10!
A relaxing holiday
We stayed in Sur Menorca for 2wks all inc. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Food was of a good standard, gin and tonics pretty good as well. Clean big fluffy towels each day! A bit too noisy round pool area for us, as music was playing most of the day. However, the entertainment staff, especiallly Bob and Rocio, were fantastic, not only with the kids but adults alike. In fact Bob and Rocio were followed around the whole day, by a group of adoring kids. (Made me think of the Pied Piper) The courtesey bus was more than regular into Punta Prima, not to mention the ever smiling and obliging Alberto the driver. That said with the amount of food scoffed it would be a good idea to walk one-way!! It was our first time all inc, and won't do that again, we prefer an apartment., but it was very good value for money. We booked in Jan, so not a last minute holiday. We will definitely go back to Menorca, possibly even Punta Prima.
Date: 14 Sept - 21 Sept 2005
My Wife and I booked at last minute late deal, and we ended up in the Sur Menorca, we are in are both in our early 30's so we were unsure what to expect, the hotel is ideal for family's with young kids, the hotel seemed to be full of them during the week we were there, and they can be quite nosiey around the pool area, which was fine with us, The hotel also has a quite splash pool area hidden away around the back of the hotel with a bar, so if you like reading a book and having a few beers, soaking up the sunshine in quiet then thats the place to go. - The food buffet was ok nothing special, the snack bar offer's toasties/burgers or a hot dogs and thats it. The highlight of our holiday was a afternoon in the pub at the top of road which shows all the sky football match's,(the game we watched was Newcastle v Blackburn - what a match - met loads of friends in there from the hotel). It rained for 3 days out of the 7 we were there, we found that there wasn't much to do in the hotel, when it rains, except stay in the lounge/lobby playing cards and drinking. Overall we still had a good time made some good friends, but would probably not go back to menorca, not too much to see or do.
fantastic time were going back
my partner and i stayed for 2 weeks we had a fantastic time here very clean and tidy food we found was great drink till it came out of your ears some of the artists wasnt up to much but the friends we made made up for that had some good laughs all staff were excellent very polite and friendly hope to go back soon
Great Hotel Entertainment Team
The hotel is average in size for Menorca but we did feel that the pools were a little small for it. It was a race to get a sun bed in the mornings and by 8am they were usually all taken. however, the rooms were fine, very clean as was the reception and lounge areas. There were always cleaners around. Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel staff. This is the first time we have been fully inclusive and werent disaapointed. breakfast, snacks, lunchm snacks, afternoon tea, dinner, snacks and all the food was great. The hotel entertainers were excellent. My 7 year old daughter thought Bob was amazing. The mini disco was a must every evening and after a couple of nights knew all the words and actions. The hotel was fairly close to the beach, three is a free mini bus to get you there. Tip, if you plan to go to the beach a lot then buy a parasol from one of the shops and lay on your towels, as 1 parasol and 2 bed hire for the day is 12 euros where a cost of buying a parasol is about the same.
