Submitted By: Ms K HendersonIf you want to go to a water park, Menorca is not the place to be, we were told that the water park was small but they failed to mention it only had four slides!
The food was awful and was always the same and not very nice, ideal if you want to lose weight.
In the evening there was a foul smell due to the drains. The staff were friendly, the kids enjoyed it but we won't be going back.

Submitted By: Pauline BlackI remember Rocia one of the brilliant team of entertainers who kept the children and adults entertained throughout the fortnight we were there. There was such a good choice of things to do and we had a go at everything.
The food was good and plenty of it. When they heard my grandson say he wanted tuna and there wasn't any they immediately brought him an enormous dishful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms were clean and maids were very pleasant.
Lovely pools that we spent most of our time in, clean everywhere and lots of different places to sit in comfort. Sadly my daughter died suddenly in March 2006 so we didn't return but I plan on taking my grandchildren there in 2007 and really look forward to it.
A beautiful island and a first class service at the Sur Menorca. Long may it be there for people of all ages. I thoroughly recommend it.

Submitted By: Mrs V KnowlesThe food was lovely and a large choice to pick from.
The staff were fantastic and friendly, and the entertainers where just lovely and always tried to keep everyone happy.
The free bus to Punta prima was so handy, and the driver always had a smile on his face :o)
Every thing about this hotel and this island is just out of this world and would love to return again very soon!!!

Submitted By: Mrs L FrankFood was buffet style - really nice but not enough selection for plain eaters apart from chips. 3 times during the day the snack bars opens serving cheese and ham toasties and burgers or hotdogs. Between Five and Six they stop serving cool drinks as it is classed as 'tea-time' and you can have tea coffee or hot chocolate.
This is very family orientated with lots of activities during the day - archery, football and kids disco every night from 8-30 to 9.30pm, after that the adult entertainment started with either a professional show or the entertainers performing which was very entertaining! This finished at 11pm. There is a bar not far up the road which stays open quite late if you don’t want to finish early.
You could go into the town on a Courtesy bus which stops outside the hotel until 6pm every 15 mins and visit some shops, which are supermarkets also or a trip to the beach.
Very good weather for May up to 26 degrees. You can also travel into Mahon which is lovely. Also for 7 Euros you can take a trip from outside the hotel on a Bus train which takes you all over the island which is beautiful.
My Children absolutely loved it - so much that we will be going back again in July! Lovely Hotel, island is so very quiet and relaxing. 10/10 from us!

Submitted By: Miss K HarveyIt is quiet but it was the most relaxing and safe holiday I have ever had, i even went on the free bus to Punta Prima myself and strolled around on my own.
The hotel is spotless and the reception area looks like a million dollars, very designer type feel and the lounge area is spacious and comfy although not best when entertainment is on when weather is bad, little cramped when hotel at near full capacity but it makes everyone talk when you have to sit near each other i suppose.
I never got bored, and my younger 19 year old brother certainly enjoyed himself with table tennis, games, and archery to name but a few. I had a go of a German game like shuffleboard and mum has some very funny picture!
I’m very fussy when it comes to food and i managed to eat well, breakfasts are lovely with some fantastic breads to indulge in.
I still name it as my favourite holiday and Menorca itself is a wonderful island full of interesting things at every turn. I strongly recommend hiring a car for at least a day and travelling around the island, especially Gala Caladana, stunning beach and views.

Submitted By: Mr M CrossThe food was lovely but not suitable for our children.
The entertainment wasn’t any good except for the magic show .
The children’s staff was very good , they encouraged the kids to join in.
The hotel minibus witch took you to Punta prima every 15min was a good idea. Overall a nice place but we would not return there.
Had 3 swimming pools, a mini-gym, a football pitch (Astroturf), a tennis court, a volleyball court, great entertainment on at night and day. The entertainers were fantastic! They had scuba diving at the bottom of the big swimming pool once a week and activities to participate in during the day.

The view from a pool-view room is great. You can see the pool, houses, then the sea. You can see all the boats and planes going past. Its lovely! 10/10! Couldn’t complain about anything!
Three weeks ago we were as a family all at Pueblo Barcelo in Punta Prima (5 mins away - just round the corner).
Pueblo Barcelo was a lot cheaper than Sur Menorca and by comparison my daughter describes the food as **** and I have never heard her swear before but tonight she rang and has had 'dodgy chicken' for evening meal and as for all inclusive at pueblo you can get from the snack bar hotdogs / burgers / nuggets / egg and chips / kebabs the lot but at Sur Menorca its a few toasties -
She is not impressed

Long live Pueblo Barcelo
Food not so good you wouldn’t starve but its certainly not anything to write home about. The rest of the staff were extremely friendly and pleasant and went out of their way to say hello and have a friendly word with everyone didn’t mind being thrown in the pool either when we were having a laugh and a joke.

I would certainly recommend this hotel especially for this year as the entertainment team are worth their weight in gold and even though all the shows aren’t professional ones the rapport with the staff and clients is brilliant. The rooms are small although I stayed in a 2-bed bungalow, which was great.

Anyone going there say hi to Rocia for me and you will be rewarded with a lovely smile and a great personality - I would give it a go.......

Submitted By: Mrs J BarkerThe hotel Sur Menorca is about 1 mile outside of Punta Prima and very much out on it’s own, other than for a few villas and one bar.
If you are looking for a totally relaxed holiday, in a relaxed atmosphere then you will find it here.
The week we stayed was the final week of the season for the hotel as they were closing down for refurbishment. The whole pool area, tennis courts, bars, etc are being rebuilt.
The rooms are clean and tidy, albeit a bit basic but as part of the refurbishment tea & coffee making facilities are being put in the rooms along with televisions.
If you were looking to stay at this hotel then I would ask for a high floor as rooms on the first floor are very close to the bars and entertainment area.
The presentation of the food and the choices were excellent (although some people didn’t appreciate this and insisted on chips at every sitting) and plenty of it. The restaurant staff are very helpful and very pleasant.
Our stay was enhanced by the fantastic weather and the pleasure of being able to sunbathe peacefully all day (that was until the weekenders arrived and felt they had to consume a whole weekends worth of alcohol in one afternoon. Rest assured the management kept this under control).
My only criticism of the holiday was that as it was all-inclusive some people felt they had to get their monies worth at every turn. Stacking their plates high with food that would go uneaten and order surplus amounts of drinks at last orders and just leave them.
A holiday at the Sur Menorca is great value for money. With the planned refurbishments over the winter I am sure when the hotel re-opens it will be even better than before!

The rooms were cleaned and fresh towels every day. Will be going back to visit again. There was a bus running everyday to the beach. Mahon is close for shopping and the market was well worth the visit. There are boat trips available, and plenty of history in Mahon itself.
