Just stumbled upon this review site for this hotel and all I have to say is don't go! it is the worst all inclusive place you will ever find. An Iraqi Travel Lodge would be better!
Entertainment is sub-standard, food very poor, more chance of getting a sunbed at a German holiday resort.
Best part of the Holiday was the bus back to the Airport.
Would never go here again unless it was to watch them blowing this place up.

my husband and myself just arrived back when we first arrived we didnt even have a room we was sent to another hotel beats me how the room wasnt ready we booked a year in advance next day at half 3 in the afternoon we was taken to sur menorca had a nice view of pool and what a joke with sun beds it was the same people every day with them and god forbid if you got in there spot in all the 2 weeks not once did we get round the pool even on a night when entertainment came on one of them made sure they waited for pool to close so they could put seats out they became a laughing stock as for the food you either get chicken or pork it was steak saturday night that was a treat if i ever see another cake it will be to soon entertainment is great for kids but im affraid spice girls let the entertainment down the temptations were by far the best dont think we will be rushing back

We were a bit aprehensive about going to this hotel after reading the mixed reviews. However, we had a good holiday. We took our 3 and 6 year old boys and they loved the kids disco although our youngest was too young for the kids club this did not spoil his enjoyment as there was the pools and play area. We did however, spend most of our holiday at the lovely Punta Prima beach as unless you got up at first light you were unable to get a sun lounger by the pool!!!
There is a coutesy bus to the beach although we walked most of the time as it was a very pleasant 15 minute stroll.
The rooms were small but kept spotless by the maid who changed the towels every day.
The food is very good if a bit repetitive and deep fried everything! However our kids loved it and there is a very good choice of salads if you get fed up of chips. The food was always hot and plentiful although the kitchen staff are completely ignorant and will take your head off with their trays if you're not careful!
The reception staff were lovely and were very helpful with impeccable english.
There is nothing around the hotel so if you don't like to be isolated do not go!!
The local bus to Mahon stops right outside the hotel every hour so you can escape for the day very easily to get any souvenirs or cheap cigarettes.
The entertainment was a bit hit and miss but very loud till 11pm so if you want to sleep earlier than this ask for a room not facing the pool area!!
The main drawback with the holiday was the queues for the bar were horrendous, the bar staff were great but there was only one small bar for a fairly large hotel and you could wait up to 20 mins to get served.

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. All inclusive, you are having a laugh, you will eat/ snack when we tell you too! The only reason I rated it 4 out of 10 was because of the entertaiment crew who where first class.
On arrival at this midden in the middle of no-where you go into the reception and you think to yourself this looks nice. Yes the reception is nice, wait till you see the rooms and toilet/shower room. Because the toilet smells like an old folks home it carries through to the sleeping area cause it is that small. Room rating 2/10
Pool area is nice but if you want to get a lounger you need to get up between 5.30-6.00am to play sun bed lottery and they say the Germans are bad, they don't even get a look in at this hotel. Because of the sun bed lottery the pool side area doesn't get cleaned properly so there is broken glass, etc.. left lying from the night before. So beware if you are walking about bare footed.
Also in the pool you aren't allowed to take in lilos,etc.. so what is the point of selling them in the shop. Pool Rating 4/10
Bar: Be prepared to queue for anything up to 15 minutes. Drinks are great and bar staff nice. This is also where the kids get there ice cream cones that they have to pay a Euro for ! I thought all inclusive meant things like ice cream where free, robbing gits !!! Bar rating 5/10
Snack Bar: This opens at a hatch next to the bar three times a day and they give you what they want to give you not what you want. So if you don't like ham and cheese toasties, hotdogs, burgers or rubbery pizza you are stuffed. Snack bar rating 4/10
It nearly got a rating of 0/10 but at least the toasties are decent so thats how I gave it a four.
Restaraunt: Food is okay but can be a bit repetitive, Restaraunt could be doing with a good clean or a fresh lick of paint as the walls are all stained next to tables.Opens at 7pm but if you are going to it anytime after 7.30pm be prepared to queue. Rating 4/10
Entertainment is first class, kids and adults alike can join in, there is something for everyone. Rating 8/10
If you are thinking or are looking at going to this hotel don't. It may have been decent in the eighties or nineties but now its is very dated. It states that it is in Punta Prima but it is a fifteen minute walk away from this s***hole. I have been to Menorca before and it is a wonderful little island but this little corner of the island lets it down. I will be back to Menorca in the future but I will give the Sur Menorca and Punta Prima a big body swerve.

Good Value for money hotel. My wife, myself and two our Two boys ( 9 and 4)went from July 16th - 30th 2008 (Paid £1600)
We ended up in the hotel itself as opposed to the apartments which are available and looked good, the room itself was ok, perhaps a bit small for four of us but it was cleaned everyday and served its purpose. No bath only shower !
(5 English tv channels including CBeebies, BBC1 and BBC 2)
Air con was ok as well
Food
Very good and extensive selection, nearly always found something that I fancied. From roast Lamb to Paella. Also a childrens menu every night ,chicken nuggets and chips etc.
Plently of fresh salad and fruit selction also
Serve yourself Fruit juice , wine , pop and beer available throughout the meal times
Snack Bar
Open 3 times a day(about 45 mins per time) and serves burgers, pizza slices, toasties etc)
Booze.
Most of the normal drinks, wide range of spirits ( not famous names) but still ok. San Miguel on Draft, The bar is open from 10:30 - 23:00. also serves coffee.
Free bar ends at 11 and pay bar inside then takes over
Weather
Brill, about 30 degrees every day
Staff
Very friendly
Pool(s)
Not bad although a little bit crowded
Queuing
Complete NIGHTMARE
If queuing aint your thing then steer clear, Sometimes had to queue for 30 mins just to get a drink at the one bar, this is a shame as the other bar inside could have been easily opened to stop this. The bar staff work very hard but still couldn't reduce waiting time.
Sunbeds
Forget it, unless you are one of the sad individuals who think a holiday is getting up at 4am just to get your towel onto a sunbed that you aint going to use anyway .
Honestly though the sunbeds allocation is a complete nightmare, in 14 days we managed to get round the pool once !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Transfer
We didnt bother with the tour operator transfer and got a taxi from the airport, it cost 20 euros and took about 15 minutes, it was very easy and stress free. we also got a taxi back for the same price.
Area
Very very very quiet, in fact nothing to do really, The hotel does offer a free bus (leaves every 15 mins from 09:00 til 18:00) to Punta Prima and is ten minutes away
Entertainment
The entertainment staff are very committed and offer a good service from kids to adults)
Evening shows
I was surprised how good they were, Mainly tributes act though like Abba, Temptations etc.
The parrot show was absolute garbage though !!!!!!!!
In summary
Good cheap holiday, if you are on a tight budget then go, if not then its worth the extra to try a 4 star. We enjoyed it but the queuing swayed it for me and we wouldnt go back.
If they reduced the amount a customers that they took in by about 20% it would help with the overcrowding

A fantastic hotel. We have 2 boys aged 8 and 12 and a girl, 15. We were all inclusive but stayed in an apartment on site. We had 2 beds upstairs with a full bathroom and 2 beds downstairs, another bathroom and a bed settee in the living, kitchen, dining area.
The room was clean and spacious. The hotel staff were friendly. The meals were excellent and accommodated my gluten free diet. Picnics are provided if you want to go out for the day. The entertainment was brilliant. The kids all enjoyed it and felt independent going to get their drinks throughout the day from the bar which was just by the pool so we could see them at all times. At meal times you could eat and drink as much as you liked and when meal times were over the snack bar opened providing toasties and pizza.
The hotel is not far from the airport and Mahon and a bus picks you up outside the hotel to take you there. A courtesy bus is also provided every 15 minutes to the nearby beach.
We all had a great time and would definitely go back again.

Me and family stayed in this hotel between 29th june-6th july.the weather was very hot between 35c-38c everyday.really nice clean hotel.cleaners changed the bed everyday and also the towels.the staff very nice and speak good english.there are 2pools,1 large pool and 1 small pool for the kids.the pool bar opens at 10.30am-11pm,were after 11pm u have to buy your drinks inside the hotel.all the entertainment is based outdoors from 10.30am -11pm.fun and games for both adults and kids.all rooms have a free tv with sum english inc.BBC1,CBEEBIES and SKY NEWS.the rooms also have free air conditioning.the food is nice but does get to repetitive.not alot of choice for the kids at dinner time but teatime they serve fish fingers, chips, beans or burgers etc.the snack bar is very poor, only servin pizza and cheese and ham toasties which both didnt taste nice at all.the hotel is situated in a quite location, but there is a free bus which takes u to punta prima every 15mins and bus is also free cuming back, and punta prima is the nearest beach as the beach near the hotel is rocky.it takes approx 20mins to walk to punta prima,on bus takes 5mins,its not a very big place with only about 3 resteraunts and 2 bars.there are about 3 resteraunts scattered just outside the hotel.i wud go to this hotel again, its very enjoyable.the only downside to it is that you will get alot of wasps around you during the daytime, they mainly tend to go for your drinks tho more than for you,and they seem to be the sort that dont sting when u attack them,so nothing to worry about.but overall i very enjoyable holiday!!!!!

We arrived at the island of menorca and i was a little let down with the surroundings, but as we had a short transfer to the hotel Sur Menorca i was very impressed with the hotel, its is beautiful , very clean and well maintained.
As we went to reception to get out key for our room the staff was very pleasent.
be was in b6 which until we found it we didn't no it was a house,
we was very shocked at the size of the of it , it has 2 on suite bathroom to bed rooms a kitchen, what can i say it was worth every penny i paid.
The food is well presented , a fair variety of choice, differant foods on all the time , their was no waiting around for a seat at the resturant, staff was very helpfull, friendly.
The entertainment was fantastic , the staff worked really hard to keep everyone entertained, they are all lively smiley and very friendly.
The night entertainment was some thing differant every night ,only one night were it a serious let down and i think anyone that has seen it will agree (robbie williams) but all the others were really good.
would i go back?? yes deffo
Bearing in mind that menorca is a family place so is great for family's young children, but not for the single's or young couples..
Hat off to all the staff at the hotel xxx I am pizza pizza ha ha ha h a

There is no superlative that can best describe this place.
I'm amazed that people on this site have the audacity to score it at only 4/10!
My family (Me, wife and 3yr old son) thoroughly enjoyed the place and have already booked for 2009. Our initial concern was the fact that we could book it for less than £1300 for 2 weeks for a family of 3 for all inclusive in June but our concerns were unfounded. Although we were all inclusive, we removed our bands after a week because we became familiar to the staff so I guess this could be misconstrued by other posters on this board.
If I am going to nit-pick as we Brits tend to do, I'd say that the rooms were quote small but so what, I didnt go on holiday to stare at the 4 walls of a room.
The food was ample and varied each day. Some days you couldn't get chips so I am puzzled why some of my fellow travellers state that there is "chips every day". The food was always hot and regularly replaced with new portions arriving constantly.
The sunbed lottery turned into a bit of a game really but, so what, when in Rome .....
I really do not know where to start on accentuating the positives but the I feel the entertainment team may just pip the rest. Their work ethic was incredible and they were never unhappy. Their vibrancy certainly rubs off on everyone and helped create a magnificent community spirit. My advices to anyone about to travel to the Sur Menorca - GET INVOLVED! You'll get to make many many friends - most of whom you will earn have holidayed year after year at the Sur Menorca and it is easy to understand why.
My son still insists upon singing and dancing the Club Dance & Sunshine song each morning - even though we've been back for 2 weeks! It really does have that sort of effect on you.
If anyone has any questions whatsoever, feel free to mail me at abefrohman1969@hotmail.co.uk.
You will enjoy. Go book it!

Stayed in the sur menorca for 2 weeks at the end of may begining of junewith my 5yr old daughter. Wat can i say it was 1 of the best holidays i have had the staff were brilliant realy nice people always there to help you when you needed it. Rieke,Alex,Jenny and Johan the entertainment team were amazing always smiling even when it was raining lol there was always activitoes going on from the kids club to football, shooting etc for the adults and also the cocktail game. The food could get a bit repetitive but what do u expect from all inclusive gourmet meals it was hot and eadible thats all i ask for. The rooms were nice not much space but why do u you need loads a space your only sleeping there the maids were in every day cleaning changing the towels and the bedding aswell. There isnt very much to do outside the hotel but you can catch the bus outside to mahon which was only 1.45 euro each way can get a little cramed on the way back tho. Did have 2get up at around 6.30 to get sunbeds tho an then you had to wait until the pool man had done his cleaning an hoseing down before he would let you put any beds out an if you did try to put them out he would shout at you it still didnt stop people trying tho. Snacks and drinks were plentiful but the bar does close at 11pm. All in all the holiday was brilliant made lots of new friends the hotel is lovely and is well worth 3* maybe even 4* i would go bk tomorow if i had the money but ill have to wait till next year defo goin to book again.
Also the club songs are very catchy tune espesialy the sunshine song still listening 2 them now as the little one brought the cd home

I was a bit worried when I read some of the reviews but was extremely surprised as it wasn't at all like some reviews who slated the hotel.
Sunbeds - They have obviously changed the rules because they are now stacked and locked up for the evening and unlocked at 8am so that no one can get up in the small hours and reserve them. We did have fun watching people queueing as they were unlocked though. We always found that we could get a sunbed though even in the afternoon after lunch with no problem even though it was on the grass. We preferred this as it was rather crowded around the pool.
Food - Was fantastic and so much choice. We didn't find it repetitive at all and there were not chips every day. Was always plenty and hot and cooked well. Didn't have to wait for a table at all as the waiters are always quick to clear the tables and re-lay them when you go.
Drinks - We did have to queue a little but not too much and you can always get as many drinks as you like to save going up again for a while especially in the evening when it does get busier. Ice is safe to have in drinks too. Note that you have to pay 1 euro for a bottle of water though as it isn't free. You can buy it in the supermarkets for 35 cents though.
Room - Was lovely and clean and towels were changed every day. We found it big enough for us as there were only two of us but could be crowded if more than 3 of you.Maid service excellent.
Resort - We went into Punta Prima twice by the courtesy bus and found it a small but pleasant place. Two big supermarkets with lots of souveniers. There was a small market there on Sunday.
Local buses - We took a bus from our hotel into Mahon which cost 1.30 Euro's. We were lucky to get a seat because they do cram people on as you go along and make the relevent stops. We went on market day - Tuesday - and again were lucky to get a seat on the way back because we were at the bus station early. There were a lot of people waiting after we got on and the bus driver crammed so many people on that he had trouble shutting the doors and a lot of people were complaining about health and safety issues. We only went the once but as we spoke to other people about it, they had not found it so crowded so maybe it was because it was Market day that this caused the problem.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would go back. It is quiet but this is stated in the comments when you are looking to book a holiday. I would go out of season though - we went 8th September as I expect that it would be extremely busy during the school holidays which would obviously cause some of the problems that have been stated on other reviews. There were a few children there, mostly under school age but a few that were older.
