havin jst returned from the sur menorca i feel that i can at last hav a lay in.The hotel itself is very clean and tidy.Reception staff couldnt be friendlier unlikr some of the bar staff who several times slammed drinks down on the bar.The animation team were fantastic keepin kids entertained tho i understand there were 5 members last year and hav now been reduced to 3.The sunbed situation was awful that is if u were lucky enough 2 get one, beds were locked up till the lifeguard unlocked them which could b anytime from 8 til 930 then there was this sort of mad srcamble 2 try and get a bed(not a very relaxin start 2 the day).A couple of nights at the start of the holiday the queue at the bar was bout 20 mins but they seemed to get more staff in from the restruant which was then ok.All in all we had a gd 2wks here but wouldnt return as not really enough to do outside of the hotel.

We were totally disgusted to see a Thomson Gold award on the wall of this hotel.
After reading reviews and looking directly at the hotels web site we couldn't beleive what a trashy filthy mess this hotel complex was.
However, this may be me, if you like swimming in a pool where childrens poo is fished out with a fishing net, filth is left on the dining room floor, the air con dosen't work and the receptionist explains this is due to the outside heat, black mold is growing on the bathroom wall, which is the size of a postage stamp, all the food is fried, fruit choice for breakfast Grapefuit (not good for our 6yr old), other children can totally run riot in any part of the hotel!!, squirt you with water guns oh and the evening entertainment is watching grown men down a pint, strip and then collect womens underwear all whilst the children watch from prime seats infront of the stage, then please ignore this review. This hotel is loud beyond belief, most definately NOT a family hotel.
We arrived Monday afternoon and by 9am on Wednesday we were out of there. Otherwise I feared catching some awful illness or starving due to the lack of nutritous food
- Advice: Beautiful place, very quiet a total relaxing family resort when you get the right hotel
- Activities: The Classic Cruise is a Must just 10 people on the boat and the horses are pretty good too

after reading reviews before we booked and having it highly recommended by the rep at the Thomson shop who had been there last September, we were disappointed.
Now before I start I should make it clear that the reason for being disappointed is mainly down to 3 issues
1 we advised the agent that we wanted a 'kids club' for our almost 3 year old and 6 year old. No problem we were told but we had to delay our holiday so our youngest would be 3 when on site. NO KIDS CLUB SUITABLE FOR YOUNGSTERS. water POLO, ARCHERY AND FOOTBALL do not a happy 3 year old make nor a 6 year old daughter.
2 we expressed a need for 2 bedrooms or at least a room where we could put kids to sleep, what we got was one room and kids had to try and sleep head to toe. THIS DID NOT WORK most nights, also room had no facilities ie no fridge, kettle etc
3, water guns and sun beds, be prepared for kids to run riot squirting the guns at all and sundry, if you want a sunbed get up early or forget it. Is it really that difficult, 800 guests = approx 700 sun beds needed.
Entertainment ranged from good to barely adequate, meals ok ( just get labeling right for vegetarians 4 cheese flan included ham !!) plenty of choice of food, just expect chips or a potato variance each meal, hotel is on its own but with all inclusive deal we were happy with staying on site most of time,
We got off to a bad start re room and kids club and as these were 2 main issues it spoilt our time at the hotel.
This is a good value hotel, all inclusive is worth it, but do not expect too much and you will not be dissapointed like we were.
- Advice: Nothing there except 3 bars and a spar ! Beach ok make sure no seaweed

We left it to the last minute to book this but glad we did. Wanted to fly from Norwich which narrows the choice down quite a bit and adds to the cost but was worth it.
Reasonable flight only about 2 hours which is long enough with two 5 year old boys to cope with!
When we booked we were advised that we could upgrade to an appartment rather than staying in the main hotel, so we chose one of those thinking it would be quieter etc.
The rooms are a very short walk from the main complex through nice gardens, and we were right next to a very clean and nice kids pool that went from 1 toe deep to just up to an adults knee so ideal for any kid from a few months to say 4-5yrs, also nice for an adult just to have a dip to cool off!
Room ended up being on first floor. Had two bathrooms and two bedrooms, a nice lounge area and kitchenette, (e.g. electric rings, sink and fridge). Very clean and tidy.
We were staying on a fully inclusive basis and must say the food was great not brilliant but certainly great! Kids had their own buffet style food as did the adults. After 2 weeks you do see the same items come round a few times but you would expect that for the price. Normally what was supposed to be hot was hot and what was supposed to be cold was cold.
The only slight downer on the food front was the queues that formed during busy times as the dinning hall is not that big for the size of the hotel, but we are not talking ages its just the nagging from the kids whilst waiting that kind of thing.
The only other food/drink drelated issue was the huge queue that formed nearly every night at the bar again due to the fact that it was the 'only' drink outlet in the evening. There is another bar but we never saw it open when we went in June which you would think would be a busy time. You just had to plan your drinks run a bit e.g. get 6 drinks instead of 3 which they generally had no problem with (oh and wear anti bite spray etc. whilst queuing at the bar was the only time we got bitten!)
The evening entertainment was for once EXCELLENT with a capital E. We had a Robbie Williams tribute band, a Spice Girls tribute band, some acrobat chaps who were insane (kids loved them putting flaming torches down their pants and told everyone at school!) plus many others. The daytime activity was also good mostly around the pool but also an air rifle range, football, tennis and volley ball competitions etc. Kept our kids busy all holiday, a first! we actually had a break as well.
Hotel was very clean, staff were very friendly, felt like a family business to be honest. We would recommend it to anyone with a family up to say the age of 14-16 when kids want a night club kind of thing which thankfully this place does not have.
Last point is that the hotel is a fair walk from anywhere. Its kind of stuck out on its own. There is a very reliable free bus to the main beach which is nice although again its quite a basic beach with only a few shops. To be honest this is the appeal of the place, hot, friendly, clean, quiet, great value and safe.
- Advice: I have holidayed in Majorca and Menorca before and this is by far the best place yet
- Activities: As mentioned not that much to do outside the hotel and it was fully inclusive afterall!!

This was the first time we had been all inclusive and it was brilliant. We took my niece (then 13) and my mother. We all had a fantastic time. Weather was superb, as was the food at the hotel. The rooms were adequate and beautifully clean although too near to the computers which were used almost constantly by the children 24/7 and this made it noisy at night, but when they were asked to keep the noise down they did. The pool area and the all day entertainment second to none. Would definitely return.
- Advice: A beautiful resort
- Activities: The gin factory and Monte Torre

Me, my husband, my two children (12 & 3) arrived on may 12th and left may 19th.
Weather
the weather was warm most of the time but when the sun went it there was a cool breeze. One day we were there it rained, but it was still warm. Not quite as hot as we'd have hoped though.
Entertainment
The entertainment staff were fantastic, they were very friendly and even remember our name. There was something different on every night. We enjoyed all of the shows and activities. During the day, everyday, there was a range of different activities around the pool for adults and children as well as kids club!!
The site
The pool was great, quite cold and we were sometimes the only ones in there, but it was quite good with the music around the pool, really gets you in the holiday mood. There was a park on the other side of the hotel which was good, my son loved a trip to the park every day. My daughter and i did all sorts at this hotel, such as volleyball, football, darts, bingo and more.
Location
The location of this hotel was great, a 5-10 minute bus drive to the beach. With busses arriving at the hotel for the beach around every 10 minutes. We also got the bus to Mahon, which had the nearest market, there were loads of different stalls and everyone was friendly and made the effort to speak English. Overall Punta Prima is quiet and peaceful, great place to just go for long walk.
Food
The food was fantastic. Each meal had a variety of choices in store at breakfast lunch and dinner. And the snack bars were great too (also inlcuded in the all inclusive deal), we went there everyday, about an hour after lunch and at about 8-9 at night, there were toasties, ice-creams burgers and other stuff, all very very nice.
The hotel was always cleaned, towels changed everyday.
Overall we had a brilliant time, it was an allround fab holiday :) !!!

Hi there sunseekers, there is something for everyone at this hotel, there is plenty to amuse kids of all ages, entertainment every night, great selection of both food and drink. Great standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel, there is even a free bus to get down to the beach aswell what more can u ask for which is right outside the hotel door. The prices for the trips are pricey I would recommend you hire a car to go and see the places of interest it works out much cheaper, you need to go to the gin factory in mahon and sample the delights for free. It is fairly easy to get round the island driving. If you are looking for the club 18-30 do not come to menorca as it won't be for you it is a lot more classier gaff than all of that. The holiday is worth every penny and that is a guarantee, for those who disagree you should may'be try turkey halici holidat village in marmaris for a holiday and you will soon be eating your words! You get what you pay for at this hotel so get on the phone and get it BOOKED.

hotel sur menorca was a fantastic hotel, couldnt fault the cleanliness, staff friendly, rooms cleaned and towels changed every day, food very good.the problem being was that it was remote not many bars outside hotel although they had a courtasy bus that took you into punta prima but again there wasnt many bars there.Visited the capital Mahon although a fantastic city there wasnt much to do .Overall if you want a very quiete holiday i would recommend Menorca but if you like a change of scenery and a like to see and do more i suggest you go somewhere a bit more lively.I would say that i wouldnt go again to quiet for me but could be fine for others .

Had a brilliant holiday, Good Flight, on arrival at hotel we were directed straight into restaurant to catch lunch before it closed so after pleasant lunch we were given our room key lovely sea and pool view, although we were disappointed we didnt get a balcony (only 5 rooms without balcony) although we had booked 14 months previously. However we werent in our room long enough to let it bother us, lovely comfortable bed, spotlessly clean hotel Beautiful breakfasts, pleasant lunch, evening meal not always to our taste but always found something to eat. Excellent shuttle bus to punto prima, couldnt fault the service. The staff were lovely and friendly. Regular linen change. Really cant fault this hotel. Are we going back? YOU BET

Maybe if we had paid as little for this trip as many of the other reviewers seem to have paid, then we might have felt differently about a holiday that was essentially Butlins in a hot country. The hotel and it's amenities provide the guests with a variety of paradoxes, the Reception staff are exceptional, polite, helpful and always cheerful, as are the maids. The restaraunt and bar staff are surly and over stretched and fairly grumpy. Who could blame them? In this hotel, the wonderful Brits abroad start drinking as soon as the bar opens, demand chips with everything and love to watch their small children bump and grind to the Pussy Cat Dolls etc (S*x and violence, being bonkers - fairly typical dancing material for pre-schoolers?) Another paradox is the difference between the daytime Animacion staff ( worse than 6th formers on work experience! Great so long as they are the centre of attention, dancing on stage, aqua aerobics, water polo etc " look at me!! Look at me!!) Ask them for anything like ping pong bats or bocce balls and suddenly they are too busy teaching small kids to dance like **** stars! Yet the evening entertainment, post kiddies disco, is exceptional!! (ABBA, Temptations, Robbie Williams, awesome cover bands!)If, of course, you can get a seat (which of course you can't, unless you were first in the dinner queue!!) The food is wonderful, the queue to get into the restaraunt unacceptable! The drinks are un-inspiring, the wait to get a drink tedious and enough to make you buy yours in the local supermarket!! This hotel also brings out the other Best of British Trait, the sunbed bagging and marking of territory at 8.00a.m. every morning around the pool. There are not enough loungers available in this hotel and very few parasols at all. If you want anywhere to sit anywhere within child watching distance of the pool, be prepared to get up early and take part in an aggressive declaration of territory. This hotel brings out the worst of human nature in it's lack of sunbeds, queues for the bar, queues to get into the restaraunt and low quality Animacion staff. Someone even swapped our towelled, pre bagged sunbeds while we were at breakfast, with beds covered in Chicken doo-doo, generously covering the droppings with our beach towels to hide the surreptitious swap - lovely!! We would not visit this hotel again. It does not reflect well on Menorca which is a beautiful Island, with wonderful people, in fact you could stick this hotel in Majorca or Costa Brava and no one would notice! Obviously, some people love this place, but if you want to do more than sit around the pool, drink beer, read the Sun and abdicate all responsibility for your children/grandchildren, than this hotel could be your worst nightmare!! We had a great holiday, despite the hotel and it's clientele, because we enjoy life and make our own happiness! If you need your holiday to make the rest of your year acceptable then please book somewhere better quality and not full of BRITS ABROAD!!
