" We have just got back from here with... "

We have just got back from here with our 15 month old girl, we had a good time but the weather meant we couldn't do much on some days. The place was lovely and the little town was quite but had everything we needed. The pools were nice but could have been heated a little especially the kids pools as our daughter got cold quickly so we couldn't stay in for long. The food was ok, certainly not 4 or 5 star quality though and got really boring after the first few meals as it was the same day in day out. The staff were very friendly and loved children. The bar served some nice burgers and other alternatives so that was a nice change. Our daughter loved playing up in the little park at the top of the resort, there was a hill to climb to get there but it wasn't a big problem. The room was not as clean as it could have been, scum around the toilet bowl and shower cubicle but it was nice enough, the beds were not very comfortable and very squeeky so we ended up sleeping the the living room so we didn't wake our little one during the night. Overall we had a good time but we wouldn't go there again.

" We were very impressed by the... "

We were very impressed by the complex. It was all clean and well looked after with great design and layout. The food was outstanding with choices for everyone including champayne and caviour for breakfast! We went half board and often breakfast and dinner was ample without lunch.
The children enjoyed the football club and evening entertainment although some nights were better than others! Even the adults enjoyed the aqua aerobics and water polo. There was a great choice of swimming pools and sun loungers both in and out of the sun.
Views were stunning from the complex and there was a general feeling of harmony.
The accommodation was acceptable but not to 5 star standard.

Overall best holiday we have had for many years and we are going back in 2009!

" We have just returned from one of the... "

We have just returned from one of the best holidays we've ever had. This resort is perfect if you have children - we have a 2 year old and 7 year old and both loved it here. The weather was great which helped, not sure what there is to do outside the resort on a rainy day... on the one cloudy day we did have we took a bus from right outside the hotel to the capital Mahon which took about 30 mins, Mahon is ok, we took a boat ride around the harbour, and did a bit of shopping, there is a nice market there. Punta Prima itself is nothing to write home about, a handful of mediocre restaurants and a couple of shops, the beach is lovely though, clean, shallow and perfect for children.
The resort itself is extremely well laid out, buggies are catered for everywhere. The surroundings are well maintained and the pools are clean and warm, with plenty of sunbeds. There is so much for children to do, not just swimming but also a kids club, archery, tennis, parks, my children were NEVER bored, which meant tht my husband and I got the break we needed. The staff were onhand at all times, friendly and brilliant with the kids. I found the poolside entertainment a bit too much sometimes, but there are plenty of other more peaceful places to go if it bothers you.
If I was to critcise this establisment it would be in two areas - firstly the apartments are not well designed for young children, the furniture is uncomfortable with lots of sharp corners to bang into (we all have the bruises to prove it). Our toilet seat was cracked and the shower was leaky. also the lack of catering facilities (two hot rings and a fridge) were not sufficient for those of us that weren't fully inclusive. Secondly, the food was lovely, but rarely changed and i think had we been fully inclusive we would have become bored with it. We also found two of the managing staff in the restaurant to be quite surly, rude and intrusive, ie. insisting we pay for our meal whilst we were eating it, rather than giving us a bill at the end of the meal as normal.
All in all I would highly recommend this resort to those with children, but not to those without - as much of the added extras are geared towards kids and as one reviewer said, the evening entertainment is really more of interest to children and their parents.
One word of caution - when comparing what we paid to other people we met at the resort we found that it is most definitely cheaper to book directly with the resort and the airline. Also if you are not fully inclusive keep an eye on what you are ordering at the bar and restaurant, it all adds up - our extras bill was 400 euros!

" Spotlessly clean and impressive upon... "

Spotlessly clean and impressive upon arrival. We travelled with family ranging from baby, and two boys aged 10 & 14. We enjoyed lazy days by the pool area which was suitable for all our family - baby could paddle in shallow end of pool. Agree with previous comments that not much for 10yr old to do. He was disappointed not able to do archery etc. And we too had to pay to use indoor pool. Not really fair I think, as you do pay a fair price to go in the first place. Lovely pool and snack bar area overlooking sea. Some bars very expensive. Kids enjoyed internet, and the baby enjoyed the mini-disco! The kids entertainers are always around, and take time to chat and let you know whats going on. Not much in the resort really. Pleasant but small.
Would return, but only to do the same again, relax, swim and play in the pools.
Meals - choice is plentiful, but you do get a bit fed up after a few days. (Drinks are included with your evening meal) - or they were when we went! Try package holiday yourself. Book flights and hotel seperate.(Thomson sell accom only basis). Taxi about 25-30 Euros each way, and takes about 15 minutes or so.

" If you like setting fire to £20... "

If you like setting fire to £20 notes then you must go but you'll have more fun doing that in your back garden.
Please don't go.
We were under the impression it was a top class hotel, we paid extra for the prestige but there is no difference only the price. I'm too embarrassed to say what i paid for a week's holiday but i thought it would be the treat of a lifetime. I got to 23 on my list of problems before i gave up, summed up not value for money in a million years and its not 5 star, nowhere near. Even Dick Turpin would have been embarrased.

I would go back having said that, but only after a frontal Lobotomy and with an AK 47

" My family and my friends family went... "

My family and my friends family went to this resort on the 9th of may this yr, we could not fault the service and the complex its self BUT with 4 children ages 10 and 12 they found it boring.
The 12 yr olds were to young to join in with activities such as football matches, archery etc etc they ad to be 14 or over!!
The 2 10 yr olds there was nothing for them to do either, so u ad to try and keep them amused..
The weather was bad for the first 3 days so could not go in the pool but we could of paid 10euros per child to go in the indoor pool, we thought that would come in with the A/I..
The food was very nice could not fault that and the whole complex is spotless..
We got a bus into mahon as there is not much to do away form the complex....
Would go back there but just me and my husband, very nice for just adults or familys with very very young children.....

" We went to the insotel club a bit... "

We went to the insotel club a bit worried as read so many bad reports but what greeted us was a fantastic hotel with very help full staff , the food was lovely and plenty of it. The childrens club was a life saver as it rained for four days . Every breakfast staff came and found each child to see if they would like to go to the childrens club and told us of the planned activities. My 8 year old loved it there . Not much to do in punta prima but you didnt really need to leave the resort any way . A very good time had by us all . The only reason i give this hotel 9 and not 10 is you have to pay to use the indoor pool which is not clearly displayed in the brochure.

" Quite possibly the worst hotel i have... "

Quite possibly the worst hotel i have ever stayed in, 5 star...not a hope, i have had better food in dockers cafes, the first choice rep is less than useless, and never turns up when she is supposed to. The food is truely disgusting, i saw a plate of prawns left under a warm lamp for 5 hours on the buffet table, no-one ate any, the following day the identical plate was put back out, reheated, and left under the hot lamp all evening, if i had my way the chef would be arrested for attempted murder. Save your money, go anywhere other than this hotel.

" Punta Prima a small village with not... "

Punta Prima a small village with not much to do outside the complex. The complex itself has good facilities but the outdoor and indoor pool areas were very slippery.

The apartments are basic, double beds are two single beds pushed together. Apparently in high season, July and August be prepared to queue for everything. We travelled out of season and could use the facilities any time we wanted.

The downfall of this Hotel is the food, it is substandard, and some members of our party were ill. The adult section was poorly presented and cold with little variety, the fruit was wrote and mouldy. The children’s food mainly consisted of chips and believe it or not the same food was served for every meal. Even serving up dessert left over from the adult section from the evening before for breakfast.

First Choice were of no help, one of their representatives said we did not appreciate the food and culture of Spain. Having shown their rep around the dining hall she was shocked at what she saw.

There were certainly health and safety issues, while waiting to be served carved meat on one occasion the "chef" dropped the knife on the floor picked it up and continued to use it to the horror of everyone in the queue. On another occasion there was glass on the dining hall floor, (bearing in mind that there were lots of children at the hotel), when we pointed it out to a member of staff she just laughed.

As a result of the poor food we therefore had to eat off site most of the time. First Choice were of no help with this issue.

I would not recommend this resort. We have never experienced such poor quality cooking before, even in 3 star accommodation.

I would give this hotel a 5 star with 1 star food.

" When we arrived at the hotel, it was... "

When we arrived at the hotel, it was everything I had hoped for. The grounds were perfectly maintained, the swimming pools were crystal clear and very clean, great sports facilities, all the areas - bedrooms, reception, bar, restaurant were very spacious, modern and so clean. Although the complex is set on quite a steep hill, there are not too many steps, and the whole place is quite pushchair friendly.

HOWEVER, I have never seen or eaten such horrendous food. Everyday, it seemed to be the same. Grey looking wilted salads. Manky fruit. Strange vegetable dishes. Nothing was labelled so it was very difficult to work out what it was you were eating. There was also a severe outbreak of violent sickness whilst we were there - this could have been a coincidence I suppose (- luckily we managed to avoid it - probably because we hardly ate anything!).

The resort of Punta Prima is small and quiet with a nice soft sand beach. It could have been quiet because it seemed like the end of the season, but I can't see it having that much to offer. But on the whole is a lovely place for families.

" We found Punta Prima a small village... "

We found Punta Prima a small village with little to do outside the complex. The complex itself has very good facilities but be careful of the slippery surfaces around the pool areas.

As we travelled out of season we found we could use the facilities any time we wanted but during the high season (especially in July & August) be prepared to book and queue for most things. The apartments are basic but functional; double beds are 2 single beds pushed together and are not very comfortable.

The reason for only marking this resort 4 out of 10 is the food, it is below standard and 3 of our party were ill. The children’s section is very poor and clearly the hotel's idea of basic dietary requirements is chips every day!

The adults section is poorly presented and very unimaginative and on most occasions it was cold. As a result we had no choice but to eat off site on a number of occasions as our tour operator (First Choice) were of little to no help in this matter.

In fact one of their own representatives was shocked at the quality of the food but their official health & safety officer passed the resort with a clean bill of health. I am taking this matter up with First Choice in the UK as I do have photographic evidence of rotten food on display.

In conclusion I would only recommend this resort on a B&B basis and hire a car if you want to see the non tourist parts of the island. You can probably book the whole holiday yourself as the tour operators are of little use when you are there if you encounter a problem.

" Well I've read some of the other... "

Well I've read some of the other reviews on this website and think some people must have been to a different hotel!!!

I've stayed in many hotels all round the world, most of them being 4+ stars rating, and this one is just as good as the others.

It was almost perfect in every way; great staff, great room, great facilities (especially for babies and children), great food and beautiful surroundings and I'm saying all this at the end of their busy season!!

I'm going back with my family next year and I'm already looking forward to it...

" Nice hotel unfortunately awful food,... "

Nice hotel unfortunately awful food, I can honestly say that I have never experienced such poor quality cooking in my life. One group of Londoners even arranged a petition to give to the hotel manager. Others ate out despite it being all-inclusive and kept their receipts to give to the First Choice rep to try to claim the cost back.

To sum up this is a 5 star hotel with one star food. Don’t go there!

" We returned yesterday from 14 nights... "

We returned yesterday from 14 nights at Punta Prima. Some of the reviews I read before going said that the food was not very good.

Considering the number of people there from so many countries we found it to be very good for a buffet. There is also an al a carte option by the pool side restaurant. Yes there could be more variety, but the quality was good for this style of eating.

For a family with young children I would rate it up with anywhere else I have stayed of this type.

If we did not have children or if they were grown up, then I would opt to pay the extra for the Punta Prima Prestige.

The one thing I would say that could be improved was the room comfort, the beds were OK but not very comfortable. For this reason I would rate this Hotel a 4 star and not 5 star.

There are two main pool areas, we found the one at the top of the resort to be best for young children and found it easy to find sun beds at any time of day (that took a lot of pressure of).

Facilities overall were better than I expected, the size and number of the pools, the tennis courts, bikes, wellness centre (good for the odd wet day) and the entertainment for the children and evening show was very good with the team working very hard.

We would be happy to return to this Hotel and location.
